Spezie

So far, I only have a sample...but I like this very much, it is evocative, and I will spring for a bottle. It has a little of 'the funk'. I couldn't wear this to work, and not even socially, certainly not to anything formal, but I will wear it for myself or even in bed or with a partner. It is somehow intimate. It may say caraway in the pyramid of notes but the effect on skin is that of cumin. Whereas Aziyade by Pd'E has fruity sweetened notes along with all the exotic spices on top of some cumin, this is less sweet, just 'dryer'. The lovely spices accord in the top is lifted a little by a herbal quality and the faintest hint of eucalyptus and mint. However, it's mainly about the soft and herby spices. Less exotic and oriental than PdE Aziyade or SL Arabie, but it's the base that is captivating. Animalic is too strong a word..that has connotations of pungency and perhaps the zoo....this is 'human' This evokes the gentle warm human smell of a lover's body in summer heat. It is somehow sensual. For me, it brings back happy memories of intimate encounters in the heat of summer in Europe. It has reasonable longevity but it sits quite close on skin. A man or a woman could wear this but it's probably just on the masculine side of unisex. Its not pretty or sweet or floral but it is aromatic and somehow sexy and intimate. Definitely worthy of a sniff, if you like 'human' scents. molte grazie, Signor Villoresi. For me at least, wearing this reminds me of sex in the summer, but in a bottle. Comfort and warmth But we gave her a sample of Spezie. When I got home, I looked at fragrantica and the notes of this perfume. In my head I immediately said no, it's not for me, I'm going to give it to my husband and I put it in his perfume cupboard. We went out that evening and my husband opened his cupboard and said "oh, there's something new". I didn't have time to react as he was already wearing Spezie. At first I was a bit shocked, in a good way, by this explosion of aromas and cinnamon, but as the evening progressed, I couldn't stop smelling it on my husband's skin. It gives me the impression of a burning perfume. A fragrance that plays on the skin, it's dry, soft but persistent. This feeling of comfort and warmth is present all the time! How can I tell you that the sample was taken by storm by me but at the same time I love smelling this aromatic and spicy scent on my husband. I bought a bottle but when I sprayed it, I found it too strong and I lost all that seductive side. I filled a sample with the fragrance and I use the sample to perfume myself and it's the perfect dose! So you can feel all the beauty of this fragrance. All the charm of this beauty is in the dosage. Too much perfume destroys the magic.

First try, night temp 30C, on skin. Initially there is a trace of campherous or minty note decorating spices, then it evolves into salty and sweet spices and herbs. I even get slightly sour aroma of dried grass (think about dried rice stems or wild grass (not hay) piled up, if possible). Thyme must have played a big role. At some points as it subsides, I, too, get the fishy hint that a comment below described. People who occasionally cook or master cuisine surely know how blends of kitchen spices and herbs smell. This is it. When you put it on, you are transformed into a seasoned spice vendor in a busy bazzar. Not quite wearable as a perfume (unless one wears completely for oneself). Not herbal enough to me, but I love it. Moderate projection and poor longevity. Not for summer cuz you'll smell like you are seasoning something. Pricey and difficult to find.

Opens with a mix of bay leaf and cardamom supoorted by cinnamon. The bay leaf and cardamom tone down, to leave the supporting role to the cloves. The drydown will be more on the aromatics side, with fir, eucalyptus and rosemary providing a strong support to the long lived cinnamon. Moderate projection, good longevity. I won't go for a full bottle as I'm not a fan of sweet spices, but it will still be a love for me. Should you be on the hunt for a cinnamon-centric fragrance, forget about the HdP 1899, Initio Rehab, CN Homme and others V&R Spicebomb: LV Spezie is the one! (with FS Io Non Ho Mani as a close runner-up). Colder days, 25+

I keep getting bergamot. But it's not on the notes list. Also, I could have sworn there's frankincense in the mix. The overall vibe is of something warm, elegant and aromatic (i.e. the medicinal opening is brief). This is absolutely divine. Performance might seem average, but it's better than initially thought. Drydown is skin scent, but long lasting. The aura it gives is very sophisticated.

Incensi’s brother lives in the forests, garbed in dry herbs. While his sibling loves old cloisters and churches he is rarely seen near towns or edifices. You may rarely spie him near a farmer's garden and he is said to spend time at the old healer woman's on the edge of the village, who is rumoured to be a witch. Yet, brothers they are, as even a stranger would easily recognize at a glance.

I really got the strong clove right at the beginning. It’s really like a homemade Chai tea. Then I’m getting a beautiful soft church incense with bayleaf. Very nice and comforting fragrance. The dry down, especially after a shower, is very similar to the smell of cassia. Very beautiful.

I agree with Auguszta! Spezie is one of the best Villoresi scent I think. Sillage and lasting power are both excellent! Maybe rather a man fragrance, but brave woman can wear it :) For me an absolute favorite one. 10/10

Wow, this is spectacular. This is up there with the best of Lorenzo Villoresi. A reviewer below mentions "incense", and I can kind of get that if I try. But it is mostly spices and herbs.

My first experience with Spezie was less than stellar. It was sharp, pungent and overwhelming. Not for me, but not totally repulsive. My second trial was similar. A blast of spices and herbs in some crazy stew designed exclusively for men. THEN, after reading the comments of other reviewers of Villoresi, I had an epiphany. I was too heavy handed with the spray of my sample. Liking strong scents, I have never been reluctant to apply a full spray to each point I wish to address. Wrong way to go. Villoresi perfumes must be highly concentrated and need to be applied modestly at first until the wearer can decide how much is "wearable". In the case of Spezie, a light hand was preferable for me. On drydown it became a purring tiger of rich scents that bloomed on my skin to a warm dose of Italian spices like I would expect to find in a fresh bread direct from the oven. No off notes or carnation florals to my nose. I was off to enjoy a fragrance that I am sure would easily enhance the world of the femme as well as the homme. I don't mean to stress a gourmand label for this scent, but one cannot ignore the actual notes involved and their application in the culinary world. The fir, oakmoss and eucalyptus notes keep this from passing over into a taste memory, but keep this whole beautifully blended composition firmly rooted in the world of perfumery. If this scent were to be rendered in color, I would choose golden wheat, warm brown umber, dried green touched with jaune, coppery orange, with light applications of soft grey-blue. All this said, I do believe that this scent would compliment the male chemistry more positively than the female. So I'll enjoy my sample and may even attempt layering it with other colors of perfume in my paintbox.

SPEZIE is a beautiful aromatic spicy perfume. It started a bit harsh, but nothing too extraordinary, just very high doses of cardamon and cinnamon. I actually enjoyed this phase very much and I was slightly dissapointed that it lasted only for 30 minutes. After the first harsh moments SPEZIE gets more masculine due to the huge amount of nutmeg in this. It also gets much more calm and could be easily used for everyday use in most daytime occasions like work, parties and such. Due to the nutmeg I also agree that SPEZIE might work on a male much better. In this phase there is also something I don't enjoy - I think it's musk, though it's not listed. Anyway, I get a bit of cloying, moldy feeling out of this at the heart part and it's a bit suffocating for me. When SPEZIE goes in to it's drydown phase it gets slightly sweeter, but nevertheless keeps on being masculine. Silage is good and it lasted around 9 hours. Good everyday use choice for males who enjoy spicy, masculine, a bit oldschool perfumes.

Spicy in a cinnamon and clove-y way, not like a seasoned pan of curry, beef and onions. Sweet, but also fresh and watery. Reminded me of PS Fine Cologne, but a fresher and less dense take. I've heard some describe LVF as being "dusty" feeling. Reminds me of how I imagined the spice melange to smell in the Dune movies.

This is very herbal indeed! Beautifully fresh, aromatic and bright. Very distinctive and not a common scent - you won't find many other people wearing it. I love it but it's just a little too herbal for my tastes so I no longer actually wear it.

until now only a top note of nutmeg and after sage, very soft and a little powdery, maybe mint and eucalyptus to refresh and a shadow of cinnamon. natural never synthetic not bad but not interesting

Lovely spicy fragrance. Better balanced than Lutens Arabie. Silage quite weak.

Loved this stuff the moment I sprayed some on.....but then barely 2 hours later it was mostly gone. I bet it was stronger when it was first introduced in 1994. Other Lorenzo Villoresi scents, well Donna anyway, I bought in that era were stronger. I was really looking forward to Spezie ever since I read Adam Forziati's excellent review of it in late December 2022 and managed to buy a "reasonably" priced bottle. Love the blast of nutmeg and cloves and pretty much all of it, but that blast lasts barely 30 minutes. After that it slinks away. Boooo.

Am I the only one getting "incense"? At the beginning, I got a blast of mixed spices, can't really tell which is which: roasted ginger powder (cardamon, maybe?), leather-like nuance, a hint of rusty clove getting stronger and stronger, some solid oily-woody feel... However, the most significant scent of all is a "plastic-y" incense (most likely due to Aldehyde C-12 as in CdG's Avignon): in the beginning, it manifests itself as a flash of bitter juice, then stables down to a hot, spiced-up "plastic" woody tone . As most of the hot spice fades away, the cinder of "plastic" wood lives on. Finally, even the plastic incense left the show, last player on the stage is hot, arid, dusty cumin/caraway .

If you want something that smells nothing like your typical mall colognes, test this spice bomb. It doesn't even smell like cologne to me. I'm not sure it even smells pleasant, as in, I wouldn't want to smell like this - unlike SMN Potpourri which is wonderful. Spezie makes me think about things like: - nonna's spice rack - herbalist medicine - ye olde apothecary's shoppe - a witch's cauldron - hexes and talismans

I have a bunch of villoresi samples and among six different fragrances spezie was the last one I tried since I had no hopes to like it according to it's notes I hate aromatic,herbal,green scents and it's exactly was spezie is but strangely it's not that bad Cloves,cumin,caraway,eucalyptus,rosemary,cardamom,thyme,bay leaf(or anythink leafy) and sage are all the notes I avoid and even seeing one of them as a dominant note is enough for me to lose intrest in that perfume so It's difficult for me to believe spezie,a gathering of all the herbs and aromaric spices I know isn't a scrubber for me.I believe it shows it's great balance,still not something I'd like but I see it as a good and recommendable aromatic spicy perfume Spices don't make me sneez as usual.they don't even make my throat bitter and dry.cardamom,nutmeg and cloves are dominant ones on my skin.I don't detect much cinnamon here.it has a green minty vibe which isn't sharp or overbearingly green.it's a refreshing scent but it doesn't have a cold undertone unlike what one may guess according to it's pyramid.it has small amount of sweetness so that herbs and spices don't feel bitter but I can't call it a sweet scent.I can also feel soft powdery quality in it's drydown mentioned in other reviews.it's as if spices and herbs and some earthy notes have turned to a soft powder and it's pleasant It leans more towards being masculine IMO actually I can't see it on a woman unless one with unique taste in perfumes Longevity seems to be good and it's wearable year you

I admit I needed to go through certain stages with Spezie, which included Tiger balm and baked fish among other things. My brain needed to process different associations suddenly popping up in front of everything else, amplifying a certain ingredient to the point of unpleasant. Then, I was actually happy to see the cinnamon in the later development as the only "something" closer to what I knew, or at the place that I had expected. So, it took time. Yes, the first blast is strong as a potent natural medicine that hits your nose first, then starts to settle and to bring cold relief. There are mostly the fresh, living versions of the herbs listed: mint, thyme, oregano, rosemary, sage, and the note of eucalyptus colors them even fresher, garden-green fresh, pungent and wild. Then comes a variety of dried spices growing in warmer climates, whose scent components were usually formed as a defense against bacteria: cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, pepper, and so on: imagine a softer Ras el Hanout. They serve as a backbone and to my nose remain long after the garden blast has settled down. It's an almost different impression altogether, as if the scent has slowly rotated, showing its other side. There's no amber, vanilla or anything from the usual basenote routine. It's all plants and seeds, dried and fresh, quite unbalanced at times, but it speaks the language of spring and late summer. As the days become longer, I am starting to like it more and more.
