Vetiver

Opens with a green bitter note. Then, shortly after it morphs into a strong patchouli note that will get combined with sage and spices to give an overall impression of celery, reminding me of Theseus at that stage. The base will have a beautiful damp/nutty/smoky vetiver (finally) show-up, sided by musk and very tiny bit of sweetness (tonka possibly?). Projection is a little strange, as it is good in the opening, then settle as a skin scent, to return to a good level in the base (a bit of overspraying necessary though). Overall a very nice and interesting composition, but given its not-so-cheap price tag, I would only recommend it to vetiver collectors, and would suggest others to go for a different vetiver fragrance. Should it be celery the note you're looking for, I cannot recommend enough Theseus from the same house (that has an excellent performance, on a side note) or Monsillage Eau de Celeri. Excellent, classy and extremely elegant vetiver fragrance mostly made for males though. Even despite the opening being so harsh and dirty (I've noticed that most of Villoresi's scents open being extremely loud) I consider this to be an excellent every day fragrance. Opening as I said harshly with loads of animalic, dark, earthy and very unique kind of blend of vetiver, patchouli and spices it completely took me over, unfortunately I also have to share the sentiment that too soon it fades to "a good everyday vetiver scent". I also did expect more from the "OH MY GOD" opening, but I can't say it develops badly, it's very elegant, very earthy and classy scent in best traditions of Italian perfumery - excellent quality, excellent longevity and sillage. A good everyday scent for those who love a healthy dose of vetiver, but are not looking for something loud and screaming. Apply only an hour before leaving the house and you'll be left with 8 hours of excellent, alluring and slightly dark, masculine scent.

For me it is spicy and musky, maybe because of caraway which I don't like, and at the first spray I thought it is another Bourbon Vetiver from Pd'E with a lots of ambrette seeds (but it doesn't contain) They don't attract me in their direction being musky Vetiver. After all, I have to say it smells very much Vetiver for most of vetiver lovers (for me no) maybe. To be fare, Vetiver Lorenzo Villoresi and Bourbon Vetiver from Pd'E are similar and very well done and of great quality of Vetiver, however I cannot connect with neither of these two personally. -------- Update: Again I tried. I distinct spaces notes from musk here. Literally Caraway and netmeg mixed with sandalwood. I get more attracted by this one. Though for my age it is still not for me, but learned to enjoy it right now

Vetiver is one of my favourite base notes of all time, I just love the raw earthiness of it, the almost animalistic nuances. Therefore, it's interesting to try as the mainstay of a perfume - the note being present from the very first spritz. As Michael, the previous reviewer, has said - this is one for true vetiver lovers. I would go so far as saying that if you aren't madly in love with vetiver, you should steer away from this one. Definitely one for colder climates - I feel this would overpower whole rooms in the heat of summer. There is something deliciously naughty about this fragrance, though. It does settle to a mostly sandalwood, bone-dry scent that lingers for many hours after the first spray. Even as a vetiver fan, I am not sure I would wear this alone. It's a little simple for me. I should love to layer this with perfumes I have felt are too light & inconsequential. Lorenzo Villoresi's Vetiver would be a marvellous underpinning - the steel-boned corsetry beneath a flimsy ballgown.

This is the vetiver I've been searching for. Earthy, green, spicy, woody, vegetal. Smokey and medicinal in the beginning, but in the best way. It just smells exotic, the way I've always wanted vetiver to smell. The whole thing smells very naturalistic, as with all the Villoresis I've tried. I have to respectfully disagree with others below regarding the longevity and evolution. This had a really nice, gradual evolution on me, the raw vetiver of the opening slowly melting into the spices of the mid-notes over the course of about 7 hours. Now, into the far dry-down, there's a lingering nutmeg & wood smell that's really nice. Highly recommended for vetiver lovers, or for anyone just starting to explore the genre. I know Guerlain is considered the reference vetiver, but to me, this one has better ingredients and showcases more facets of this complex note.

One of the most brutal openings around: rough, harsh and smoky with an overall acrid citrusy quality. Quite an experience. Unfortunately, It soon settle down to a very simple herbal-woody vetiver accord that's nice but nowhere close to mantain the promises of the initial phase. Somehow short-lived too. Overall, I'm afraid I'll have to give Lorenzi Villoresi's Vetiver a neutral rating because while the opening is really quite something, the drydonw occurs too soon and reveals a no-suprise and sort of average quality fragrance. if you're up for a straight forward rough composition in the same vein, try to check Mekkanische Rose Tuba, which does basically the same thing at 1/5 the price. Seriously. Rating: 6/10

When I initially applied Lorenzo Villoresi Vetiver I could swear I was smelling a handful of good,clean dirt. This is not a bad smell but it disappears quite rapidly and turns into a peppery,celery smell that sticks around for quite a while. The base notes of vetiver,sandalwood,musk,and tonka stay close to the skin and still has some life after 8+ hours. A really good,earthy scent for real vetiver lovers,but not for me. I just like vetiver,I'm not in love with it.Guerlain is still my #1.

The spiciest vetiver I ever tried. Unique, potent, original. Do not blind buy. It's a heavy hitter.
