There are fragrances that smell good... and then there are fragrances that feel like a place. Pan’s Labyrinth by Lost Tribe Perfumes belongs firmly in the second category. From the first spray, it refuses to follow the traditional fougère formula. Instead of a sharp, citrusy opening, you’re met with something softer and more intriguing—powdered sweetness wrapped in almond and rose, gently diffused by ambergris. It feels almost dreamlike, like stepping into a quiet forest just before dusk. As it develops, the heart reveals a more familiar structure—lavender and coumarin—but even here, nothing feels conventional. The lavender is smooth and herbal rather than fresh, and the coumarin adds a warm, almost nostalgic softness. Patchouli and florals sit underneath, not to dominate, but to give the scent a layered, fabric-like depth. What really defines this fragrance is the base. This is where Pan’s Labyrinth becomes something special. Oud, sandalwood, moss, and resins create a warm, slightly earthy foundation that feels grounded and almost spiritual. It’s not animalic or harsh—just deep, calm, and quietly luxurious.

It's instantly recognizable as a fougere, but there are some creative touches at play here that elevate the fragrance to something exceptional. It does open quite sweet, sweeter than a typical fougere, but it's not cloying. Instead, the juxtaposition of the youthfully exuberant top with the vintage fougere drydown drives home the theme of the "adult fairytale." Like a Grimm story, we get an introduction that expresses carefree innocence, and then this gives way to darker themes as the narrative progresses. Seems like it would work well in all seasons. It's exceedingly easy to wear and doesn’t overstay its welcome. I especially enjoy the ambergris in the opening and the bakhoor humming in the background throughout its lifespan. If I were to nitpick, I'd love if it lasted a bit longer, but that's a minor gripe. Really solid release overall. Excited to explore more from the brand.

I smell natural ambergis in this perfume right out of the gate and it smells wonderful as it's expertly mixed with a refreshing lavender and citrus. There is also the presence of a powdery note that is not overpowering and also keeps the ambergris from taking over, IMO. Sandalwood is also noticeable to me, and a hint of coumarin. I'm also smelling oud in the dry down as well. This is a beautiful fragrance and one I would be proud to own and have in my collection. Superb!

What a gem.The house-created powder accord is to-die-for! A proper, powdery, clean lavender fougere with nuances for days. Great work, Lost Tribe!! Too bad the broke trolls down-vote it

A sugared and fluffy take on a wintry woodsy fragrance, perfect for the Holiday season and evocative of the atmosphere one might expect this time of year. I find it a bit bright for its namesake and am personally not a fan of musk or sweeter fragrances, but there's no denying this is a well-balanced and blended perfume. Review based on a complimentary sample.

It opens up like a candy, rose infused candy with tangy notes of citrus. A very fresh and herbaceous, woody fragrance from the get-go, reminiscent of classic barbershop fragrances with a subtle twist courtesy of oud and incense. Lavender is the main theme, uplifting and bright, yet blending seamlessly with other key ingredients without overpowering the entire fragrance. You can detect delicate florals, green earthy patchouli, and fruity ylang, all in perfect balance. As it dries down, oud and incense become prominent, bringing woody, smoky depth mixed with leathery musk nuances. Longevity is impressive - I've worn it for almost 7 hours and still get those dry, powdery, woody whiffs.

Ok I’ve never smelled the spiced note in the opening?! It’s so addictive and wonderful. I had to look it up in the notes list - “bitter almond and powder accord” ok more of this please! It’s amazing. Slightly smoky, some spice, a bit of powder, all perfection. Dry down has a gorgeous resinous powder, the labdanum and also the Santal and Bakhoor are doing their utmost best. Just all of it so smooth, so perfect. Wonderful blend!

Pan's Labyrinth is like a dream where you are floating through a valley of autumn leaves and cinnamic mist. The perfume starts off strong and settles into an enveloping scent with a lovely woody, slightly sweet/powdery dry-down. This is an interesting composition, and as previously hinted, does have a fougere feeling, with strong earthy elements in the opening. The perfume also rests on a lovely incense note.

Opens with a candy like sweetness. I get a touch of pine faintly in the background early on in the opening into the mid. Once dry down hits it turns into a powdery blend with some woods. It is a very enjoyable wear! Well done raj and Matthew
