Aod

there's a tree that blooms in spring in vienna that exactly smells like the flowery component of aod. (flowers are white, small, in clusters...acacia? robinia?) edit: it is robinia- and aod obviously does a trick to my nose, I know the aquatics in it well and I smell grapefruit but if I take a step back, I have robinia. funny thing!

A pretty, delicate, light floral fragrance with soapy white musk at the bottom. On me, this was far more floral than marine. I only found the faintest trace of sea scent, and it had a way of wafting in and out, which gave the charming impression of it being an actual breeze (while smelling in no way, I hasten to add, like that standard "sea breeze" smell). Unlike everyone else, I couldn't smell any coconut in here at all. This was too pretty and delicate a fragrance for it to suit me personally, but I did find it a very pleasant scent. It brought to mind a balmy day spent not (despite the name) at the seashore itself, but perhaps on an airy terrace overlooking the sea, surrounded by tiny wildflowers. It is a subtle scent and not long-lasting. On me, it stayed very close to the skin and faded well before the end of the day. I found this a somehow soothing fragrance. I can imagine wanting to have this in ones bedroom, to fall asleep to it. There's a hygienic quality to the white musk as well which makes me think it would be lovely as a soap (which I understand Lostmarc'h does indeed make). --------------- ETA, Four Years Later: I obviously wasn't very impressed with this one four years ago, when I wrote the above review, but somehow it's really grown on me over the years, to the extent that upon hearing that it might be discontinued, I am now seriously considering purchasing a bottle. I'm not quite sure what it is about this fragrance. It doesn't seem really to stand-out, particularly, or to be at all unique. It registers as somewhat generic. And yet, it clearly *isn't*, because I keep returning to my sample of it, wanting to smell it again and craving more. So, yeah, this one has seriously grown on me. Just thought I'd make note of that here, at the end of my old review. It's a sleeper. :)

It really captures the essence and smell of a shore (AOD), it's floral without being too much, the gardenia is well blended with the seasalt note and the coconut (but don't expect a fruit cocktail). It's simple and so refined, it's a splendid floral marine fragrance I like even if I'm not a fan of gardenia, I recommend it although the sillage and longevity are not impressive.

I expected oud (because of Montale's version of Aoud namings), however, this is a very nice white florals aquatic, gardenia dominating. I do not detect coconut though... It is simple, very quiet and calm scent. For lazy Sundays or walking near the beach. This could be a proper wedding scent!

A lovely feminine aquatic, clean and sparkling at the top, over a simple beachy bottom. Great summer scent.

What great scent! I’ve had this for years. Very floral and super sexy for summer, but where in this is coconut I don’t get that on my skin at all. Heavy white florals on top, (not complaining) and citrusy and aquatic in the dry down. So beautiful! Not sure if this is still available but if you find it, get it it’s a stunner!

I blind purchased this and while it's very soft and powdery it almost had the smell of a diaper with baby pee. I know that's strange to say but I changed enough diapers to know the scent. That baby powder pampers smell with a tinge of pee pee. Sorry Lostmarch this one is somewhat off for my taste.

You get a burst of coconut and cream, after half an hour cyclamens and lily take place,only when it settles down reminds me of crystal water.Multi-faceted and interesting!

On me it devolves into a simple white floral, of which I have too many. I am using a sample from Luckyscent, but I don't think this is full bottle worthy.

OK, I spoke too soon. The drydown of this is really great. Sillage is close to the body, so it's not obvious, but it warm and spicy.

It ́s such a nice, smooth, flowery scent. A perfect perfume for spring or/and summer - I adore it!
