Les Lavandes

Though clearly a lavender solifleur, I suspect there is a myrrh base to this, that becomes more apparent at the dry down. Plus there is an allusion to something spicy. I find both qualities are characteristic of lavender itself. The nose for this, by the way, is none other than Jean-Claude Ellena, and I can tell you, he doesn't disappoint. I love it. In my view, this is much better than L'Occitane Lavande EDC. That camphorous myrrh quality, was also found in the vintage cobalt EDT version of Lavande, sadly now discontinued by L'Occitane. I wore this last night before bed. This morning I could still smell the skin scent on my wrists... Mmmm! I'm so happy to have this again in my collection. Lothanique is more readily available in Europe than in North America, but sometimes the perfume gods smile upon you. So glad to have been able to get this on my last trip to the US. Sweet Dreams to all! Edit: I just found a Lothanique retailer in Canada online. I'm currently in South America, so I haven't inquired, but perhaps they ship to the US.

What a beautiful take on the most important smell from Grass, France, lavender 🪻. I read that perfume genius Jean Claude Ellena is responsible for this amazing eau de toilette. Well, he was able to capture the typical smell of those soap shops in the Provence. This smells exactly like that wonderful experience of smells if you walk into this kinda artisan shop. A beautiful lavender soap with some balsamic herbal touches. I spray this on my bed on warm summer nights just before getting in. The entire room smells like southern France. This is what (French) perfumery is all about. Magic, imagination and touching your senses with memories and sensations. I actually fall asleep almost immediately after I step into my perfumed bed. Lothantique, s'il vous plait, never discontinue this beauty. Merci beaucoup!
