Dans la Peau

There is something undeniable and alluring about this fragrance. If your chemistry allows, it develops beautifully on the skin. Upon first spray you can detect a light leather scent as if you placed your face in a brand new Louis Vuitton bag. The aquatic notes are very heady within the first 30 minutes but then fade away to reveal magnolia with a hint of Jasmine. Leather doesn’t go anywhere. It sits there and remains detectable for hours. On my skin it doesn’t change much and I have very problematic chemistry! I can only wear scents that have a heavy base note or it fades within minutes. This reminds me of the moment you walk into a Louis Vuitton store. You take a seat and the S.A. hands you the most lovely bag. Your holding it, you can smell the fresh leather. You become excited because you found the one! Just at that moment a stylish, sophisticated woman walks passed and you detected her perfume. You are tempted to ask her what she is wearing but instead you sit back and enjoy the moment. This may not be everyone’s cup of tea, or a crowd pleaser but if you enjoy scents that are not of the norm you might love this one!

Dans la Peau is one of the most clearly beautiful smelling perfumes that was in the Louis Vuitton line. Instead of getting confused trying out a bunch of playful tom boyish and barely unisex frags with clever names, . . . this on the rocks is b e y o n d for feminine side hankerings. As a fan of magnolia off the heels of Irina Bvlgari (gorgeous magnolia), this offering by the same perfumer is as lovely. The watery notes in Dans la Peau is where these two magnolias differ, however, they are crisp and distinct with a glacial melt quality. Dans la Peau is Irina + fresh skin glistening from sunkist skies. Rucksack leather, and mountainous hillside wildflowers. While it all seems natural and outdoorsy, magnolia has that woodland drive aire about it, this perfume is burnished with plenty of luxurious facets making it shine in the traditional art of edp.

To add to previous review, the samples LV passes out seem to be a weaker version of the actual formula. I ended up purchasing a bottle of Dans after I was really liking the sample. Heart and base are so very different from the sample. It has a creaminess quality and I detect a flower not listed in the notes. I would highly recommend to try the actual bottles and not the samples.

Immediately after application the leather notest is very sharp, but don't worry it will dry down in minutes. After a while, the beautiful apricot and water notes emerge and leave a beautiful dry down

This has been discontinued for a long time and I'm so happy I was able to snag a big bottle at my local Louis Vuitton store! This is so good and will probably be one of my signature scents.

I also have to say louis vuittons water notes are absolutely beautiful. Tip: wear this with montale's sweet vanilla

This is the only women's perfume without rose. So try this one if youre not a fan of rose

I loved the opening of Dans La Peau: supple calf leather of a brand new high-end handbag. It sounds clichéd, but the leather accord is very evocative, realistic, and rendered elegant by subtle floral undertones. When worn on the skin, it's as if I was wearing an Emperor's high-quality leather jacket: I can smell its wonderful redolence, but it's invisible to people's eyes. However, alas, this tasteful leather accord is not meant to last. After about 1 hour, the disintegration starts to take place: the leather is chewed away piece by piece by a conventional fruity sweet jasmine and clean musk, and the whole scent is taken over by the latter ones after about 4 hours. Given how I enjoyed the opening leather accord, this process feels anticlimactic and even ironic considering its name: Dans La Peau = Under the Skin, as if under this attractive, immaculate skin resides an uninspiring soul. The sillage is soft, and the longevity is around 8 hours. I regret that the dry down of Dans La Peau performed in such an unremarkable way on my skin, especially after the fabulous opening of refined leather. I would definitely recommend giving it a try to those who are looking for a realistic and feminine leather, or even just for an olfactory pleasure to experience the leather accord, but do give it enough time to settle before forking out the cash.

Interesting scent. I get no leather. What this reminds me of is the scent of a woman after some light perspiration. It's musky but never overwhelming. There's also some white florals but they are so muted and deep in the background. I suspect they're only there to keep the musk from smelling rank. Becomes a skin scent quickly. Projection and sillage are intimate after dry down. Unisex that leans feminine. 1 hr in the skin like musk has gone away. The florals are still there. They've gotten sweeter but they are still muted and subtle. They never shout. Pretty much remains that way until it fades away.

For me its very fresh scent very adorable and a green but aromatic apricot with aquatic touch.I wear it many years on summer,its perfect with white linen clothes and when u want just feel comfortable and fresh.I also feel clean vibes and notes of musk maybe what give to this fragrance a great longevity.Leather not,soft suede yes it’s give more wealthy and deep character.Its very unique smell,not sweet at all.Love it.Longevity 6 hours on skin.

I've been wearing this fragrance the entire day. In the beginning I kinda liked it, because it reminded me of another fragrance (which back then I couldn't quite get a hold of). Now I know that that fragrance is Galop d'Hermes. The leather isn't quite that strong but it's still there. The new LV fragrance might be interesting, but it's not unique. And it doesn't justify the Ludacris price.

top notes: clean, fresh, white floral, synthetic middle notes: powdery and light, hair dye?, sweet, subtle, floral, clean base notes: linear from middle notes overall LV has pretty linear fragrances. Nothing spectacular here, wearable but an 8/10.

Velvety round dark suede. Not too sweet. It is a complex smokey-ish reserved scent. I would add more dark notes icons to the description, it's not really floral or watery. The only floral note is the dusty yellow daffodil.

Very versatile (multi-season and multi-occasion) fruity leather fragrance. Longevity is nice, still detectable at the 9 hour mark. The leather substantially fades as time goes on, and it develops into an apricot/jasmine at the end of the day. The leather that is present towards the beginning of wearing is very smooth and decidedly feminine, and brings to mind a high-end leather handbag. By sheer comparison, the decidedly tame Ombre Leather from Tom Ford smells more "rugged" than Dans la Peau, and that's saying something. I enjoy my sample of DLP, but for the price (which takes a solid like into "ok" territory), I'd rather invest my coins into something decidedly more unisex.

Honestly? This reminded me of a baby cologne my mom used on me as a kid. Nostalgic. Smells really good, don't get me wrong but I'm inclined not to spend top dollar for something that isn't a bit more unique.

Opens with a brand new leather note (I don't want to be cliche, but it smells like one of their new purses or wallets....lol) that elegant leather note is quickly taken over by a fresh apricot and white floral-musk note. This is very feminine despite the SA telling me this was masculine. This is a no go for me, I could see this on a mature elegant woman though.

I usually restrain from negative reviews but this time I couldn't help it! Today I bought a 100 ml bottle from LV boutique and I bitterly regret it. Where is the peau, where is the skin, where is the leather, suede or whatever leatherly it is supposed to be in this bottle?! Just blah flowers and musk- for that tag price?!? Huge disappointment. Huge!

Starts off floral — quite soft and delicate — with a hint of sweetness. There's a touch of leather underneath that makes it feel like a sheer second skin. Honestly, it’s a little subtle and forgettable, kind of boring. It’s clean, intimate, and more of a whisper than a statement. 2.5/10 Vibe : 🌸🩶🌫️ 🧼

Pardon-moi, but did someone forget to add leather to my leather fragrance? This strikes me as a white floral with just a smidgen of something akin to leather. If you dislike leather notes, you'll like this EDP; if you want true leathery notes, you must look elsewhere. .

Dans La Peau by Louis Vuitton is a really interesting fragrance. I have honestly never smelt anything like it. I'll start by saying that this fragrance is definitely not for me, but I really appreciate it for being a unique experiment. Dans La Peau is a smooth, delicate blend of worn, soft leather and sweet, stewed apricot. It's weird but wonderful at the same time. On the skin it has very low projection, it also smells clean for the most part, like an expensive bar of soap. It's a fruity leather on my skin, one that is very classy and expensive smelling. It reminds me a little of Nuit de Cellophane by Serge Lutens, not exactly the same of course but in a similar vein. Due to its subtlety, I think most people would enjoy this fragrance, it may not be however their first pick from the Louis Vuitton range. If you're seeking a rich, heady leather accord, I probably wouldn't start with Dans La Peau. The leather note in this fragrance is very tame and subtle, resembling suede more than leather at times. The white musk note tends to smother the leather accord closer to the drydown, so towards the end of this scent's development, it smells predominantly of clean white musk and sweet fruits.

The floral apricot mix opens a bit medicinal - then as it starts to powder down the sweetness fades the leather kicks up and is the strong point for about 3 solid hours then the musk moves in nice and mellow and the apricot hums in the background sweet the floral notes keep it fresh- the floral notes are there but it is the apricot that at the end gives it the definition for me anyway...all of it serves to make this a buttery rich supple leather. Like leather lingerie. The opening was a little loud a bit of a cacophony but the quality is there so I knew it would be worth it once it settled down. Is it worth the price point? I am not sure. It was just rolled out this week since there were no take away sample vials I suppose I will have to swing by a few times to sample. If I am haunted by it then maybe...but there are so many in this luxury price point range these days that I will have to be haunted by it in order to buy it...

All I can think is '4 years to create this??' It opens with a distinct soft leather-not a raw, animal leather, a soft luxurious leather which is slightly smokey, slightly musky. It's a nice start, but that is very rapidly overtaken by a nose-searing jasmine. This is really loud, shrieking jasmine that is only slightly tamed by a soft fruity note. Eventually the jasmine calms down and after about 2 hours this becomes a relatively non descript, rather dull light floral musk. I bought a 2ml sample of EDP and tried it once (up for swopsies in uk if anyone is interested!)-I definitely will not be buying a full size bottle.

At first, there's a burst of floral. That fades pretty instantly. Then you get the animalic, leather scent. It stays there. It's not bad, it's just you have to like leather! I'm on the fence. The more I sit with it, the more I like it. It's true... this is very unique. I can see myself going to a bar with this on. Kinda grimey one where you don't wanna feel too goodie good. You want some grime. Like the leather in a cowboy hat feel. Leather from a saddle. But a feminine one. One taken care of. If I had $265 to spare, sure, I'd buy it. It just doesn't move me to buy. You know what did? House of Sillage's Disney!

Wow, I so don't get the listed notes or the elaborate experiences others have. I get plastic notes, dust, something floral, and a synthetic apricot. It's horrible in the vial, horrible on my skin; A total scrubber. It’s just unpleasant. I truly don't know if this is just a chemistry thing or if my sample had gone bad, but it was nothing anyone would pay money to smell like. Awful. try before buying; you may be one of the lucky ones! Then again, price-wise, maybe I'm lucky that I don't feel compelled to buy it.

Wow, my sample must be way off. I get nothing of the notes or experiences other people list. I get plastic,dust, something vaguely floral, like a cheap perfume floral, and synthetic apricot. It's horrible. Sometimes leather notes can strike me as chemical/plastic and this one sure does that. It doesn't fade down either. Total miss for me.

The initial blast is not a beautiful thing: An artificial suede note mixed with apricot and aldehydes. As the fragrance settles, this synthetic vibe goes away and gives place to a beautiful floral accord. Inside all of this, lies a delicate and harmonious jasmine perfume, Dans la peau requires patience to discover (or uncover) it.

The best leather - better than Daim Blond. Apricot, narcissus and watery leather. Sad it was discontinued, I would buy a bottle if they return it back. It's far away from Galop and not very close to Cuir d'ange. The closes perfume is SL Daim Blond. Dans la peau is watery and very nice.

Sense of being in the Louis Viton store . Very Chic . High Quality Leather . The Best High-End Luxury Fashion House In The World .

This is my most favorite scent ever. Is anyone looking to sell their bottle? Can anyone recommend another scent that is similar?
