Étoile Filante

I've only tried Etoile Filante a few times at the Louis Vuitton store, but I think it's going to be my next bottle purchase from there. I just went back yesterday, and bought a bottle of Imagination, and while I was there, I sprayed Etoile Filante on one of the cards and on myself. I can't stop smelling the card this morning. I can't describe it, but this fragrance really agrees with my nose. I pretty much love every other LV fragrance I've tried so far, so this isn't a surprise. This is definitely a feminine leaning fragrance, but I would definitely wear it myself. I don't know if I would use it by itself, but I almost always layer fragrances anyway. I could definitely see myself layering Etoile Filante with Ombre Nomade or even LOVERS or Imagination or Nuit de Feu. I will definitely try those combinations, if I do buy a bottle of Etoile Filante. It has a nice, fresh, fruity scent that reminds me of Attrape-Reves, but the floral notes are different and so are the fruity notes. I thought this kinda smells like peach, but that could just by my misinterpreting the combination of scents.

And finally, after a long experience with the samples of Etoile Filante perfume 🍓🍓 ☀️ It was chosen to be the first perfume from LV within my perfume collection 🤍✨ I can't describe the beauty of the smell, beautiful in a bright and happy way, its smell makes you happy, subconsciously, pink soap, fruity, watery, soft, a beautiful perfume with every transformation for him, and what I love with perfume is the skin in a professional skin note, water in the background, not normal, so I couldn't resist 🍓☀️ With Etoile Filante, the fragrance is fruity flowers that revolve around the osmanthus, showing all its best origins with an abundance of peach along with glimpses of iris, suedeede, and even a light earthy touch with an artichoke atmosphere. And also the green tea side of the osmanthus, which offers a delicate and ethereal tangible paper characteristic, sits in harmony with super clean jasmine and innocent soap that never hinders the road, certainly in the back seat. Inside these corners of smell, it's airy and sunny ✨✨🍓

I love this perfume. Upon initial spray, I am greeted with a blast of citrus. It then almost immediately melts into this beautiful, creamy, strawberry, drizzled with condensed milk that is served on a silver platter surrounded by fresh, white florals. I’m obsessed with this because it’s fresh and soapy, but creamy at the same time which are 2 things I love individually in a scent. This reminds me of a plain bar of soap, like the original dove or the original Nivea. It almost has the same feel as montblanc signature to me. Perfect for someone who is not into heavy hitters and just wants a delicate and put together feel. Easy to grab for and easy to love. Thankfully the strawberry is not synthetic at all. Everything is so well blended, this scent truly comes together beautifully.

I agree with @jytong. I finally got a whiff of this in-store yesterday and wow totally nostalgic. Smells like Gap Dream from the 90s which I adored. I still love this scent profile. It’s fresh and clean and reminds me of a rain shower on a warm summer day. If Gap Dream hasn’t been discontinued I will try to track down a bottle and keep it pushing. However, if it’s long gone then I’m going to add Etoile Filante to my wish list. Edit: I purchased a bottle of Etoile Filante a few months after my post in 2022. It’s now 2025 and I’m still in love with this fragrance. It’s also quite long lasting on my clothes.

omg had never smelled this and was in LV today and tried it and immediately I was like GAP DREAM gone luxe. I said it to the woman in the store too - my guess is LV employees don't hear GAP comparisons too often... It was a total throw back -- makes me so happy to see it's the top thing it's compared to here - yes yes yes, co-sign. If I were guessing notes I'd guess tangerine x freesia x white musk x ginger. Citrus, musky, dewy floral, aquatic, slightly piquant. TBC, it does not smell cheap -- it just smells incredibly nostalgic.

I almost didn't try this because of the strawberry as I thought it might smell quite sweet and cheap. But it's definitely more of a green strawberry which is very nice. I personally love this as I'm obsessed with clean fragrances and this is my favorite one. It's definitely fresh--not a heavy floral--and sticks on your clothes so it last longer than the average clean/fresh/light floral fragrance. But if you're looking for something more complex, probably not for you.

It smells expensive and it is long lasting is amazing makes you feel sexy and clean matches my body chemistry to the perfection stays on a long time you can smell it next day on your skin ,bed and clothes but not in an annoying way,is intense in a gentle way! Guys get crazy they stop you and ask you omg what do you have on? Why do you so smell so good ?! Like lot of guys in the same space!

Bad news for anyone who's a fan of Louis Vuitton Etoile Filante. I visited the store today, and the nice associate told me that they are discontinuing Etoile Filante. I really like it, but I'm not sure if I want to buy a bottle. If you've been thinking about buying it, you'll want to do that while you still can.

I...whew....this is my absolute favorite Louis Vuitton fragrance - hands down!!!! It smells like joy in a bottle!!! Every time I wear it my husband always says "You smell so good. You smell clean but sweet!" I rarely regret things, I regret not buying this in the 200ml, I love this scent that much!

Well, I'll be danged. It really does smell just like GAP Dream! Bang on! Certainly in the opening, anyway. Shame about the price difference, but on the other hand, this dries down much more smoothly and lasts longer. What a terribly expensive, delicious, nostalgic discovery...

This fragrance happens to be my favorite from LV. I think this is the most unique and interesting of the women’s line. Unfortunately I have heard that they might be discontinuing this masterpiece. If you love this I would get a bottle asap.

It's a beautiful fresh floral. Don't smell any strawberry, more like a very nice citrus smell at first. Dry down into an amazing floral scent. 10/10

This smells like crisp, fresh laundry (detergent). The musk is very well done and addictive. Unfortunately I can’t detect much of the strawberry note, it is not a juicy fruity type of scent at all. Magnolia, osmanthus and musk are most prominent to me, it’s a pleasant very clean scent, perfect for everyday wear with jeans and a white t-shirt. Not what I expected but I keep smelling my wrists. Performance is decent. I can’t get this scent out of my head. It smells clean and expensive. I will be getting a bottle. Edit: Got it!

Tested it and was surprised and not at all what I was expecting by the notes. I was expecting fruity floral, but got something that’s suede like musk magnolia floral slightly powdery blend. I cant smell any strawberry if there is one it’s more rubbery to me than fresh or juicy strawberry. The leathery/suede accord is pretty dominant and I didn’t like that at all since I don’t do well with those sort of notes. Unfortunately it was a pass for me.

So I was searching for a scent that was similar to Gaps Dream scent and found and bought this nugget EF it is reminiscent if a GAP scent and it does , but unfortunately it is the Gaps scent Grass that this is most similar too nit Dream. Still a nice smell and wonderful compliments from people .

to me, this smells like strawberry champagne, very fresh and innocent with a slight hint of mischief lol

This is beautiful but not on my unfortunate skin ☹️ Fruity (but not sweet) and floral (but not overwhelmingly so) but on me, it smells like cheap laundry soap as if I’d rolled around in laundry powder 😖 Longevity is decent, probably 5-6 hours? Lovely bottle and I snatched the last one at my Louis Vuitton store but honestly, it’s just meh...on me. I will keep it because I have a weird thing for discontinued fragrances 🙄 (I know, I am super weird) and I will continue using it because it was expensive (as all Louis Vuitton are) but it’s not my favorite from the house... If this is indeed getting discontinued and you love it, I’d definitely run to get what’s left for sale...

I had such high hopes for this one. Beautiful bottle design. Promising notes. But I was sooo underwhelmed. I mean its not that bad. It’s just not as pleasant smelling as I had hoped. The initial spray brings on a kind of sweet, opulent, juicy, flower forward opening. Interesting smell. Not off putting. Not unpleasant. Then it starts to develop into a screechy synthetic flower mess, like bathroom spray. This part is really annoying and made me dislike the fragnance. I had to wait for about half an hour for this stage to let loose. Once this goes away, you’re left with something lemony and musky. That’s not bad and not good.

Note to self: With my chemistry, this smells like dead flowers and plastic binders upon first whiff. I don't catch even the faintest note resembling strawberry, which is what piqued my interest in this fragrance. A moment later, something waxy comes through and reminds me of the first time I smelled Strawberry by Malin+Goetz (which I did not like until four hours later, when I finally smelled subtle strawberry). I'm learning that magnolia seems waxy to my nose. I do not detect jasmine either. I agree with the review of it smelling like dishwashing liquid. I wouldn't ordinarily have been interested in a fragrance from LV, since I consider the design house pretty basic (mainly the bags) to begin with, and this just falls flat in a soapy way. mode of testing: from sample sprayed onto wrist and forearm. I like the apothecary look of the bottle, but this is wholly overpriced. Best to sample first; do not blind buy.

I was initially excited to try a sample of this due to the strawberry note, but unfortunately it pulls all magnolia/fresh floral on me. Initial spray on my wrist gave instant sharp citrus and quickly faded into potent magnolia/ floral. I was hoping to get a fruity scent somewhere, but it stayed fully floral the entire time. Granted it is a *fresh* floral scent but there's something that is a little sharp to my nose so I can't wear this personally. I can see where people can get a dish soap vibe, but I wouldn't have minded smelling like that if it was more lemon forward. This is just all florals with a musky dry down. -If you're expecting Strawberry or anything fruity, I'd say avoid this (or at least get a sample before blind buying) -If you love bright fresh florals, then you may enjoy this. -If you love Magnolia, this is definitely for you.

Tried on paper and immediately fell in love with it. Bought the 200ml and had it engraved. Alas on the next day when I sprayed it on my forearm, I gagged. Somehow it has a rather bitter smell which I can’t seem to pinpoint what caused it. Tried it on paper again and that bitter smell is still there but slightly lighter. Wish I can return the bottle but can’t. Anyway I’m layering it off with other perfumes. Contre Moi helps a lot but I bought this because my Contre Moi supply is running low in the first place so no point using that. I’m still experimenting. The perfume is wonderful except for that bitter smell which you might mot even smell. Please try it before purchasing so you won’t be in the same dilemma as me.

I received a sample and...no. Just no. This fragrance is not sweet at all. It smells like citrus dishwashing liquid. All I smell is a lemon/grapefruit combo. The scent is very tart and the initial spray is a strong, in-your-face blast of citrus. I get no musk either, not even in the drydown. I thought this would be a strawberry musky scent, but it's not even close. Étoile Filante is not a scrubber, but it's borderline unpleasant on my skin.

Yet again, a LV freshie... Typical cheap deodorant scent. I understand that a french title, pretty, elegant, minimalistic bottle, packaging and luxurious image of LV makes one see more in this, but at the end of the day it smells basically as any fruity, citrusy cheap drugstore deodorant.

I'm a big fun of LV perfumes but not on this one. It doesn't smell horrible but it doesn't smell as expensive as it is. To me it smells exactly how my dish soap smells. My dish soap doesn't smell bad but it also doesn't cost me $500.

Smells like cheap hand cream from Lidl.

It smells like Heures D Absence with a bit of Apricot and Strawberries. The scent is very week at first but becomes stronger overtime. Like Mèteorè it’s a very sub par fragrence in the elite collection. LV should make a less elite range with this, meteore and sun song.

Hear me out, I know this perfume gets a lot of hate but it’s a skin chemistry issue and if it works for you it really works just like the Alien perfume. I got this as a sample from the Louis Vuitton in Zurich and to be honest i didn’t know about it before as i never smelled the whole collection whenever i am in store. I know what i want I get it and leave. But this is full bottle worthy! There is a hint of Fleur Narcotique extrait in here, so hedonistically carnal and seductive. The musk is stunning, crisp clean yet oh so dirty! There’s a few white florals with a touch of peony to balance the blend. The strawberry lightly sweetened the peony and musk but it’s not fruity, juicy nor sweet. If you love Fleur Narcotique Extrait you will love this. Definitely date night worthy and a solid 8/10. It smells sophisticated but sexy.

There is fruity/floral opening which fades to Magnolia dominant musk. And as mentioned it does indeed bear strong resemblance to a cleaning product, laundry detergent or dishwasher... the strawberry is giving fruity but Perhaps it’s been fractionated to not read as distinctly strawberry but just give a fruit facet. Kind of like the white unripe part of the berry near the leaves. Overtime the musk quiets down to be less acrid and really quite blank smelling. It’s almost more a texture than smell. In any case it’s far from the fruity-floral parfait the notes suggest. It’s almost entirely a white-noise/unscented soap type blank musk. Very odd. And rather a let down... I was hoping fir something with some more fun. This might be great if you want to smell very clean but not in the obvious soapy kind of way.

Thank God I got to smell it in the LV store and did not blind buy it on line because i thought i would love it based on the listed notes in this perfume ... This smell..oh my.. .it stunk so badly, I did not know what went wrong but i am not even able to describe it exactly... it smell like sweaty gym short and dead flowers mixed with musky sticky aroma... I could not believe that i am smelling this... I felt uncomfortable because sales lady was raving how amazing this smells... I said that may be i have allergy and she gave me a sample to take home. I retry it 3 times with the same result... its so weird why i smell what i smell...I do enjoy some LV perfumes: Heures d'Absence and Cactus garden smell very nice even though they do not have good longevity on my skin...

This is not really what you would expect based on the listed notes. I thought it would be a fruity, floral that was quite sweet. In reality, it is a very fresh scent. I pick up the strawberries and the magnolia the most. It does have a touch of sweetness, but really it is mostly very fresh smelling. I would recommend trying it before purchasing online or at the very least, make sure you really love clean smelling freshies. It's not my favorite from LV, but I do like it. It's best suited for daytime in warmer weather.

I don't get any strawberry from this but a light fresh floral with a hint of musk. It's pretty but it never deserved the high price tag due to it being a very generic scent. I have a shampoo and conditioner from Japan (Tsubaki) that both smell extremely similar. The longevity, sillage and projection is good though. It's very nice for the office or for a casual lunch. For those who are sad that is has been discontinued, Perfume Parlour UK do a nice clone.

-A lighter, less chypre version of Chloe Nomade. -Tart citrus scent with some fruity notes in the background. -The tartness is all front-and-center that this overall comes across as cheap dollar store air freshener. -Makes my stomach churn for some reason. Perhaps those who dislike tart notes like rhubarb in L'imperatrice 3 by D&G, or Delina by Parfums de Marly should steer clear. (-)

Well, the osmanthus-musk chord really takes you to the Louis Vuitton world. There's a suede feeling in here, an inside bag feeling, a brand new lambskin leather. And all the other notes gives us the inside store vibe. Grab a good old memory, listen to some quality jazz music and spray Etoile Filante in your arms. :)

Ok I feel validated reading the review below because the second I sprayed this I thought THIS IS GAP DREAM!!! I loved that scent when I was younger and this is exactly it to me, maybe a bit more grown up and rounded. WOW. I want a bottle and re-name it nostalgia ❤️

Received a sample vial of this with my LV purchase, and omg - This is GAP DREAMS!!!! Does anyone remember it from the 90s?? Total nostalgic moment. Its lovely and pleasant, nothing ground breaking but a general crowd pleaser. Its aquatic, fresh and clean smelling.

Just discovered this today , it’s sooooo gooood. So underrated. I might get it if they have it in stock. Imagine pink windex lol . Like soapy sharp detergent that’s hot pink. So sad they discontinued this. This is the perfect freshie scent.

First spray, it was a bit sour and citrus and then it changed into a clean citrus floral, finally yup it become a laundry soap, but.. i love it! I always love soapy or fresh laundry or clean linen, some kind of that.

too citrusy/sharp and plant-ish/green/ fresh cut grass for me. it doesn’t smell like cactus but for some reason (the green + sharp) cacti come to mind when i smell this 😂. i don’t get strawberry at all.

Interesting! I’m getting musky strawberry with a suede like leather! A bright lemony top note (likely the magnolia). Some what powdery. Don’t think I’d want a Fb but happy to have a sample

As many have pointed out, the distinctive sharp metallic top notes reminded me of Gap's perfume. It's not at all what you'd expect from an expensive perfume.
