Heures d'Absence

Heures D'Absence by Louis Vuitton is a powdery and sweet floral cornucopia of a perfume that makes me think of the first blooms of May. I could almost imagine the goddess Demeter reawakening the flowers and crops after the long winter and the world being reborn again like a phoenix from the ashes. Very beautiful in a gossamer light kind of way! I get this feeling especially from the mimosa, since the mimosa tree is usually one of the first to bloom in flowers once the frosts have been blown away by the spring breeze. This makes everything soft and joyful smelling to me and it's where I'm getting that powdery sensation from. I get the powderiness from the musk in Heures d'Absence too. I can then smell a decadent and sumptuous rose note that's intensely feminine adding interest to this composition, followed by an intensely white floral but not so indolic rendering of jasmine and pitosporum. There was a slight fruity tang from the raspberry at the end too. The vanilla and the sandalwood were notes my nose could not quite detect here though. I was wrapped around with a mid-sized scent bubble and this perfume lasted on my skin for about 10 hours before completely fading away on me. This is a good thing, considering how pricey this perfume is! The ml you get in a bottle of Louis Vuitton perfume is also quite a lot too fortunately. Altogether I'd give this fragrance an 8/10 and I can easily recommend it to just about anyone. It's very unique smelling too!

Beautiful flower garden type smell. The raspberry lends a slight fruitiness, but the flowers prevail, especially the rose and pitosporum. Can be slightly sharp in the opening but it disappears quickly and the dry down is a lot more pleasant. Musk heavy, not a lot of woods or vanilla, so don’t bank on those notes if you can’t do florals without them. Honestly, this is quite gorgeous, perfect springtime scent. Very light and airy in the middle, the mimosa becomes more prominent and the raspberry really does something special in the background. Full bottle worthy? Perhaps, I like it a lot better than some of the other niche springtime offerings I’ve recently smelled. Very beautifully blended.

This is SO overpriced, yes, but if you think you can find this for cheaper, you can’t. That’s the magic with luxe perfume and makeup. It’s the subtlety and simplicity. I don’t know why people say it’s clean as a diss. Since when is smelling clean any less than any other scent profile? To my nose, this is freshly washed hair, summer dress, expensive sunglasses and a bouquet of flowers. It’s easy to wear, will absolutely not offend, and follows the footsteps of a classic fruity-floral blend without smelling cheap. I wish people would test perfume on the skin first before leaving a review. This is great. Can I afford it? No, but I will suck the life out of my decant as long as I can.

Heures d'Absence is so lovely. It reminds me a bit of the beautiful Bvlgari Pour Femme -- a powdery violet-iris-rose concoction -- but a lighter, fresher, less "statement-y" version. When I first smelled it, I thought I detected violets, or at least violet-rose, because of a cool, damp greenness present, but it must have been the powderiness of the mimosa. In fact, I see a resemblance also between Heures d'Absence and Vince Camuto Divina, a pretty mimosa perfume. I think this one will be so beautiful on warm or hot summer days -- fresh, feminine, clean. I just ordered a nice-sized decant from a perfume friend and I'm so excited to experience it as the weather heats up!

To me, this fragrance feels youthful, airy, and chic, and smells just as the description from LV's website "an escape through the flowery fields of Grasse". Not too sweet or overpowering, it is clean and a bit powdery, with white florals and musk. Maybe due to the purple color, it reminds me of fresh lavender. I originally thought I'd want Attrape Rêves, but Heures d'Absence is so lovely. Totally a clean girl scent.

First time purchase comes with purple color perfume in cristal clear bottle. Back to LV boutique to refill & turned out the color of perfume is clear non color! But the scents still there. I couldnt find any perfume in the market that similar to this! Can be individual trademark perfume, but the price keeps increasing every year!

It is so beautiful and delicate, like the shimmer of morning dew. I had never smelled mimosa before, but I have come to love this clean, elegant scent. Naming and the color of the juice are great as well. Especially when I put it on on a slightly cold spring morning, it gently sparkled and smelled like pixie dust.

It's fitting that it's called absent hours, it was gifted to me a by a man with whom I spent many stolen summer afternoons in a darkened room wrapped in cool sheets. I would never buy this fragrance for myself, it's ridiculously overpriced. When I went a similar scent I reach for Lush's Lust, it's very similar.

I like a good soapy fragrance, especially during this humid summer weather. I like wearing this on its own as I appreciate the dry down of the musk and sandalwood. I also like to layer this fragrance with Ocean di Gioa as they both have similar notes in the dry down of musk and sandalwood.

I need to refill my bottle soon for the upcoming Summer's heat. Fresh clean, juicy, lightly sweetened without being citrusy. The sweetness combo of raspberry and florals somehow gives off a lychee scent imo-- I love! It's an easy reach & compliment getter. Very pretty-girl-vibes 🌸

Gorgeous perfume I'm in love. Smells so clean and the mimosa is magical in it. I have a sample and thinking of getting the 200ml bottle but I need to give it a good thought because the lasting power and projection is very weak. Otherwise I'm in owe of this beauty!

I loooove this fragance. To me it's a mature and sophisticated take on baby powder. Definitly for the innocent, delicate girlies out there. Extremely overpriced but I haven't found any other fragance similar enough for cheaper, despite all the recommendations.

This is one of my favorite LV fragrance, its soapy but its elegant. Its remind me of Dove bar soap but an upgraded version, to be more potent and elegant. This one last quite long and made me very happy and calm.

Best of LVs. I have tried all Louis Vuitton perfumes, I liked only Heures d’Abscence. Beautiful on me but not long lasting. I hear more wows when I wear my other fragrances. I excpected more, to be honest

A sweet, fruity, light, and airy floral. I used to get that shampoo vibe that has been mentioned in earlier reviews, but maybe my nose has just matured slightly. It is definitely a Spring/Summer fragrance, but depending on your body chemistry you can make it a year-round signature scent. On me, my skin eats this up so I can't see myself really taking this into the cooler months. Mild projection, inoffensive, average longevity. Do I think it is worth the current $300 LV price tag? Nope. You can definitely find a cheaper alternative that can give the same vibe. If you like Chanel Chance Eau Tendre, you would be a fan of this (not a dupe, but the same vibe in my opinion). Overall, I am happy with this addition to my collection. I am interested to see how it ages, and how that vanilla performs down the line.

A very pleasant fruity jasmine with a pop of powder from mimosa. This is very juicy and playful on my skin. I haven't tried every LV frag yet, but this is the most youthful and girly to my nose. As it dries down, the juicy jasmine and fruity rose + raspberry die down to reveal a very soothing mimosa and musk combination. Usually, mimosas don't work on me and tend to smell like a sheet of A4 paper but this one works very well in the sense that it's very floral and realistic. Overall, this isn't the most sophisticated or complex offering from LV and is quite young, but is the easiest to understand and wear. (There still is that cohesive watery, wet feeling that runs through every LV feminine perfume but not enough to bother me.) 7.5/10 for me.

Definitely very fresh feminine floral fragrance, very pleasant a lot of jasmine in the begging spray, fresh and pleasant Jasmine, not Indolic. A little fresh rose, smells pretty generic pleasant floral fragrance and dries down more with creamy mimosa. Slightly reminds me of silk blossom by Jo Malone, they are not dupes, just remind me of each other. Overall I do enjoy it very much. It’s one of those crowd pleasing florals that you know is not worth high niche price tag but you still keep coming back to it and wanting more, it so perfect for spring. May be a wedding scent? 🥰

It's an extremely similar perfume to Penhaligon's The Favourite. The only difference I get is the raspberry somewhere in the background in Heures d'Absence. The Favourite remains a smoother, tender mimosa throughout, whereas Heures d'Absence gets a fresh, juicy, jammy undertone. It's very fleeting, on my skin it lasted for 2-3 hours tops. The same issue with The Favourite. Very faint, fleeting perfumes, though the blotters hold them well. Overall, beautiful and tender perfume.

Feminine rose-musk. Mild mimosa in the undertone. Sits on a bed of white wood and flowers, and raspberries. Luscious, light and airy raspberry note here. Remarkably layered considering the lack of density. Really shines during dry down but not bad until it gets there. Airy, light, layered and refined. Nice, intimate blend but I feel like it could get a little gnarly if you’re sweating. Certainly, body chemistry makes or breaks this one.

Very classic and clean, mildly soapy and very non-offensive. Its a very powdery white floral that reminds me of a generic store bought soap bar. The mimosa and jasmine have a lovely floral note that doesnt fade too quicky. The drydown is quite sweet and musky where the rose and vanilla shine through a bit more. I quite like this scent, but it just smells like a recently washed myself with a mild white soap bar.

Perhaps the slightest touch too feminine for me, it's just the slightest bit too sweet, like a drink that just has a tiny bit too much sugar. But sometimes that's nice, you know. Longevity grrrrreat. The end of the dry down is a little too much sandalwood for my tastes, but if you're a fan of that: go for it. Could imagine this on a woman and loving it.

Very vintage smelling I wonder how close this is to the original formula but it certainly smells 100 years old but not in a bad way really, mainly a powdery mimosa at the start with a tart berry that transitions to clean laundry floral musk a little lacking to me but not really made for me ig

To my nose mimosa is definitely dominating here. It's pretty, it's gentle, a little soapy. But I would say it's definitely overpriced for what it is. I'm sorry. It's not complex enough, the projection is very weak and there's no feeling of wearing something luxurious for that price.

Lovely but if you want something similar, try Rose America by Une Nuit Nomade which is very natural and sparkling. IMO no resemblance with Silk Blossom.

It has a soapy smell, with notes of mimosa flower and raspberry fruit prevailing in it . Very Good .

80s Soapy detergent, first thought was spraying my bedding with it, because it conjures up "happy clean sheets" with Jasmine, Roses and Sandalwood. Yet any time you combine Rose with Jasmine and Sandalwood you are going to get Dove soap! that is their basic formula. Maybe they were first but we will never know, Heures d'absence is a remake of Louis Vuitton's original perfume from 1927 yet they lost the recipe so they made a soapy flowers white musk spritz, non offensive and gone in a whisper. Drys down in an hour to fabric softener. You can get 1oz of Dove everything spray for 15 dollars, the notes are almost the same. In Heures d'absence the February flower mimosa is different from Dove (a nod to Vuitton's estate named Heures d'absence). Together with the acid raspberry it is more like grapefruit and bit green. Pitosporum (Mock orange flower should be called Mock Jasmine) smells just like jasmine and grows like a hedgerow weed in the Mediterranean probably on the estate along with the roses and jasmine and Mimosa tree. Not a bad scent, nice floral white musk but not worth the dough though. Dove: Top Notes: white flowers, rose, lily of the valley Mid Notes: jasmine, vanilla Bottom Notes: Tunisian sandalwood, white musk

An inoffensive floral scent that is way too pricey for what it is. Very pretty but also very meh... Edit May 2024: I had a sample and I just went for it today and spayed myself until my 2ml sample was empty. I sprayed my neck, arms, hair and the air around me..... I guess I am going to have to eat my words and say that it is a beautiful fragrance with a beautiful fruity aspect to it without going into too much sweetness. It does have a soapy aspect to it but in a most beautiful way 🫧 I love it now and it’s very feminine and bright. It is wonderful to wear this around Spring and Summer time and I am in love with it😍✨❤️🌸🩷🩷

Feminine and soapy floral that borders on the designer side of fragrance... It’s very pretty, don’t get me wrong but does it excite me? No, no it doesn’t. I have owned a full bottle for a little over a year now and I’ve only worn it a handful of times without really being too excited about it... I think it’s time I parted with it and just started being honest with myself: why own so many bottles of perfume when they just sit in a closet doing nothing???

Dove bar soap. Nostalgic, familiar, and comforting. Opens with a clean green jasmine rounded by a slightly powdery rose. It quickly develops and is joined by delicate and powdery mimosa. A soapy orange blossom also becomes more obvious as we enter the dry down. In the dry down, this smells straight up like Dove bar soap to me. If you love the scent of Dove bar soap, you have to try this.

When I first smelled this scent it gave me a very generic shampoo-like and retro floral feel, and I didn’t like it. When I tried it again I thought it’s not that bad actually, because finding a floral bouquet scent isn’t exactly easy. It would have been better if it didn’t have such a strong jasmine scent. It’s too heavy for me, even though I like its scent once it settles. I still feel confused about it—sometimes it gives me a headache because of the strong jasmine note, while other times I find it clean and fresh. However, one thing I’m sure of is that I will never buy it again.

Cozy powdery florals. Mimosa and white flowers dominate the scent. Its perfect all year round, signature worthy. The price is too high.

Someone gifted this to my mom, all I have to say is why do y’all hate her 😭 This is the most decrepit old lady scent that’s graced my nose in a while (sorry mom)

Heures d’absence. Hours of absence. Hours spent away or apart. Powdery flowers, but not alive or freshly cut. More like a mixed bouquet that’s been in a vase for a week or so, you know? Some jasmine, some rose, and a gorgeous soft mimosa note, make for a lovely, very elegant heart accord. It’s slightly sweet as well, from just a little bit of vanilla which peeks through after a couple of hours. Perfect dosage. Most interestingly, there’s a petrichor note! It’s unexpected and GORGEOUS and kind of sad, but in a beautifully melancholic way. The petrichor was the selling point for me. I think it’s very aptly named. The ‘age’ of the florals does speak to Hours Away. It’s raining outside. He brought flowers over the last time you saw him, and they smell gorgeous and make you think of him. They make you smile, in a nostalgic, I-miss-him way. Or perhaps a single stem that you dried and pressed in a sentimental book that he once read to you. Definitely a very romantic fragrance. And so chic! It plays just between soft and strong, and is undoubtedly feminine. (It does remind me a lot of Misia by CHANEL, if you’ve smelled that, but more... calming, somehow.) BOTTLE 10/10 - I absolutely love the LV packaging in general. Minimal to the point of perfection. The purple liquid is misleading, though. It doesn’t smell purple to me at all. FRAGRANCE 11/10 - I am of course a little biased as I’m all about a good floral, but this is objectively beautiful. I would change nothing. SILLAGE 7/10 - Not strong by any means, but I wouldn’t call it a weak fragrance either. It’s very well suited for what the fragrance actually is. LONGEVITY 5/10 - The only thing that’s a little upsetting for me. It doesn’t quite hit my usual base expectation of 6 hours. I don’t mind reapplying, I do it anyway, but for the price point, it’s somewhat disappointing. Enough for me to not repurchase when it’s done? No. But still disappointing.

Seems i get a very different experience of Heures D'absence than others. . I don't get anything reminiscent of Dove Soap or The Favourite from Penhaligons. The first time i smelt it, i was totally captivated by the feeling of silks and pastels, and this vision of a white rose in the rain. I don't think the fragrance is rosey, however the feeling of pure shades of colour, like a rainbow of lilac, pale pink, light blue, whites and silver washed over me like silk. And the sweetness of the silks presented this white rose image. Before i knew the notes, i was certain there was a lychee accord in the top. A smooth watery lychee (lychee can definitely feel like a silky watery fruity rose), though i guess it's the mix of that raspberry and soft florals. Through the wear, i constantly see and feel these different shades of silks, moving and flowing. All subtle and billowy. The fragrance has a beautiful musk which I've experienced with others such as Attrape-rêves and Etoile Filante. I usually hate musks, but here it is fluffy and ethereal. Heures D'absence is basically a timeless, clean, pretty wash of subtle colours and fruity florals on a silky cloud. Absolutely in love with it. Sorry for the long review. . I actually hate long reviews, but this fragrance me under its spell.

I didn’t really have high hopes based on the reviews I had read before trying, but I was so pleasantly surprised by this. It has a sweet but very clean, soft scent which I find extremely cosy and comforting. I kinda love it. It reminds me of another fragrance that I just can’t put my finger on, but all the same it’s great. I have the 10ml mini travel bottle with the dabber and it’s lasted me a while, I’ll be sad when I eventually finish this, because although I am a fan of this — it’s not worthy enough of a FB at it’s retail price, I don’t love it *that* much. I get really good projection and sillage for the first hour or two. On my first wear I used a lift (elevator) and a man who got in with me made a nice compliment about it. After 1-2 hours it becomes close to skin, but always there. I could still smell it by the end of my night when I sniffed my skin.

Well, definitely pretty, but it gets watery, and in the end, although it is lovely, I will not buy the bottle..the 10 ml was super expensive, and for a light musky floral, I refuse to pay such an amount..just because it is Vuitton the mimosa gives it a weird undertone too..so overall, happy to try it, but nothing real special here..it reminds me of a few jo malone perfumes, in the simplistic floral edge..but Jo Malone is more affordable It has like a hay undertone too, so it isn’t sophisticated like I thought it would be And please it is pink juice, pinkish smell, why on earth is it labelled for men! Bottom line, way overpriced for what it is!

I agree with the expensive shower gel impressions. I wonder if we prohibited high fashion companies like Louis Vuitton, Dior, etc. from using dirt cheap musks, synthetic ambers, and other synthetic molecules in their 200 ml "exclusive" fragrances, whether they would start putting out more interesting stuff. Their watchmaking counterparts such as Cartier and Chopard actually give Mathilde Laurent and Alberto Morillas the space, time, and budget to conceive truly "luxe" fragrances. In thsi line, even the bottles look shamelessly like 200 ml shower gel bottles...

This perfume just STICKS to your clothes, as long as you don’t wash them that thing is on for the next 5 months I used to love that perfume soooo much but oh my god it made me experience the (a scent that brings back memories) for the first time in my life today with every spray i felt the pain of the days i used to wear it during and that feeling is horrendous Beautiful perfume but would never buy it again + after properly 4-5 years of owning it that thing turned green??

Those saying that this smells like The Favourite need to check their nose. I have both and have used them plenty; they've got very little in common. In any case, this little gem is delightful and performs well. Yes, it smells clean, but who doesn't want to smell that way? I get nose blind to it after a few hours but the compliments and the occasional whiff every time the wind blows reminds me it's definitely there.

Very pretty and extremely elegant. Much prettier than “Spell on you” which smells like a soapy version of Misia or French Kiss. Heures d’absence is tart, powdery, floral without being too green fluffy and chic. The scent floats above the skin and radiates throughout the wear. I wouldn’t pay retail but if you can get a bottle for a reasonable price it’s signature scent worthy.

This is my first bottle of LV perfume and it was a blind buy since i trust my friend to recommend me with this. It’s a floral bouquet and full of blooming flower inside, also calm and soft. Even though its a softie, but the longevity is very good on me.

My mother gave me a nearly full bottle of this, as she did not like it anymore. Good for me though cause this is lovely. Sniffing the spritzer, all I could detect was laundry detergent. This needs to be on skin. That's when the garden blooms.

Just got my bottle, my immediate first impression is it smells like the new Chanel Eau Splendide. I need to wear a few more times, but this is my first impression and that disappoints me because I have the Chanel. To be continued.....

Omg u know what this smells like to me? The Clairol or L'Oreal Hair Dye Conditioner - does anyone else remember those box dye conditioners? This is what it smells like to me; floral with hair perm solution.

Light floral, wispy, and soft. A perfume for people who don't like strong fragrances. Natural smelling and barely there after the 1 hour mark. I would gift this to a young girl for her first perfume.
