Nuit de Feu

This is THE scent for me. Literally. I’ve had a relationship with this fragrance since way before I even bought it. My first Louis Vuitton fragrance was Ombré Nomade. I own all the dark bottles except for Fleur Du Desert cuz it smelled too feminine. Nuit de Feu was the last one that I required. From my very first bottle of Ombré Nomade I’ve been seeing this online a lot, but never really even bothered to try it out cuz I kept going into other genres of perfumes, due to which I kinda sidelined the fact that I should’ve gone for something incense-y as well (I own all three versions of interlude and they’re much different scents even though they’re also incense heavy). My desperation to find it started from fragrantica only, I used to read the notes of this and used to get so intrigued by the idea of how this would smell, now yeah one might say why I didn’t go for decants or tested it before. You see, I live in India, and the nearest lv store is fairly far from my place due to which I can’t visit the place too easily, and as for the decants I don’t trust the online suppliers especially here (just had some bad experience). And furthermore, every single time I went to lv to purchase any other perfume I used to get so distracted by the other scents that I used to forget to try this out. But this time it was different. I went to the mall where the store is located to apparently buy Tom Ford black lacquer directly from the Tom Ford store, but I didn’t like it that much. The lv store is located just a few meters away. I took the chance this time. Went straight up to the store and sprayed it on my arm. And holy f*ck this was good. This literally resonates with me as a person so well. One can think of this scent as “The” scent representing a wise, bold, masculine, powerful, yet a gentle man who made his life “from rags to riches”. Although I personally think it’s not something everyone will wear to get compliments, but every single time I wear it people have followed me to tell me how good it smells, and when they ask me what perfume it is, I just lie that it’s Bois d’argent from Dior. I’ve smelled that one too but this one is leagues above. Okay so enough of storytelling, let’s talk about the scent with precision now. Starts off very smoky very dark. It’s meditative asf, imagine this, it’s harsh winters going on; an ancient temple with rituals going on where the priests are burning some expensive ahh incense. Imagine the air having moisture, which doesn’t let the scent of that environment smell too dry. I can partially say that it’s a dry fragrance, but the balance is unmatched. You really have to love incense, and genuinely have some deep experiences to be able to feel this fragrance. I insist, don’t sleep on this fragrance after the first sniff thinking it smells like generic incense. This is the kinda scent you’d apply on yourself before you start watching a horror movie and I can guarantee the fun of watching it will be 10x with this. Also somebody below mentioned it smells like an old book. Well yes I didn’t think of it that way when I first smelled it, but now I can’t stop relating it to an old book lol. But yes there’s nothing negative with the smell, it’s in fact one of the most beautiful scents I’ve ever smelled. The only negative of this fragrance, which honestly makes me sad considering how good this smells, is the performance. This just doesn’t last long enough dude. I yearn to keep smelling this for as long as possible, but this is simply gone in a few hours. I have a request to lv, please increase the performance on this one and you’re easily beating way too many scents out there including many of the popular niche ones. Sure thing @ClosetGeek I’ll help you with it. You see, both the perfumes are entirely different, now don’t be fooled just cuz you see the term “incense heavy” for both. If you’re familiar enough with the og amouage interlude, then for black iris just tone down the pungent spiciness very slightly, also the iris in it is not at all the typical powdery iris you find in many other perfumes, it’s rather a kinda airy one in black iris with a slight hint of vanilla in it, it’s like if amouage og interlude is batman, black iris is Bruce Wayne, I personally love wearing black iris cuz it’s got the perfect level of spices to make it undeniably masculine but with light floral undertones from the iris accord which gives it a wealthy aura. Now let’s compare Nuit de Feu and black iris. Lemme tell you, they’re worlds apart, the type of incense is not at all the same, Nuit de feu is extremely meditative, it has different types of incenses(can’t recall the names though) and it’s on a more airy vibe, provided it’s a scent that sits close to the skin, the performance is still decent I get 7+ hours but that’s of course nowhere near black iris which lasts for days on me, basically Nuit de feu smells like an old book (when I had newly got that perfume, I had read a review from someone before and I couldn’t stop relating it to an old book eversince), it smells like gentle smoke, the type a witch or whatever would use to keep her room fragrant. It’s not as all a sweet scent, but there surely are some sweet undertones. Actually you know what I’ve sprayed the two on both my arms, just to keep it clear and concise, the type of incense I can think of in black iris and other interludes is the slowly burning type, and the incense in Nuit de feu is what you can consider as very high quality inoffensive unburnt stick. Sorry for the review being a little unstructured cuz I was constantly sniffing both one by one and writing all my observations in this. Finally if you want only one, just go with black iris, it’s leagues above Nuit de feu in every way, Nuit de feu is not a bad scent by any means but it’s not a good value for money like black iris. I’m pretty sad this fragrance hasn’t been receiving as much love as it deserves! On my most recent trip to LV I noticed they even removed it from the display, what a pity! Nuit De Feu is my first ever LV fragrance I bought which has then converted me into a fanboy of this house (I now own all 5 LV Middle East inspired scents!). It has the most distinctive DNA and aura compared to the rest of the LV creations. The first time I sniffed Nuit De Feu, it felt almost surreal because who would have thought a massive mass designer house like LV could actually bless us with such a perfect avant garde masterpiece in this era! Not gonna lie, I was so sick and tired of houses launching their 18474045th version of Oud + Rose or whatever. Almost all the popular oud fragrances in the market have some kind of sweetness or floral to make it likeable. And I’ve always wondered what would it smell like for an oud fragrance that’s built purely around smoke, incense, wood, and more importantly, NOT contaminated by any forms of sweetness or flowers or clean musk? Nuit De Feu finally gave me the chance to experience that! It was indeed an ethereal feeling the first time I smelled it at the boutique. It’s dry, airy, ashy, transparent, gracefully rugged, unlike anything I’ve smelt before. I get the similarity to Bois D’Argent as mentioned by some other reviewers, they share the same transparent quality of musk and frankincense. However Nuit De Feu is more straight forward with very ‘unfinished’ rough edges while Bois D’Argent is perfectly rounded in all aspects with very nuanced iris and vanilla. Not sure if this has gone through reformulation but my bottle from 2020 has the best ever longevity, the same level (if not more) as Ombre Nomade or Les Sables Roses. Also with this scent profile, I’m very contented with its understated sillage as I don’t see the need to attract unnecessary attention. P/S: even better if you layer this with Pur Oud

I just went back to the mall after work today, and bought a bottle of Nuit de Feu, after thinking about it the past couple weeks. I sampled it the last couple times I visited the store, and just couldn't stop thinking about it! I have five full bottles and 12 samples so far from the Louis Vuitton store. I love going there and trying out the fragrances. I love how laid back and welcoming they are. I think Nuit de Feu might be my favorite Louis Vuitton fragrance so far. It has a deep, rich aroma that I just love. The oud and incense notes really please my nose. I noticed that the bottle for this one looks different than the other oud fragrances that Louis Vuitton offers, because Ombre Nomade, Les Sables Roses, and Fleur du Desert have brown or kinda purple looking bottles. I don't know if it's just me being a contrarian, but reading that this scent isn't the most popular and not everyone loves it, kinda made me want to love it. It's like the opposite of how I really don't like Dior Sauvage, for example, because everyone and their brother has heard of it and so many people say they like it. I just don't get the appeal. I would prefer Ralph Lauren Polo Blue, especially the parfum, over any Sauvage flanker. Well maybe not the stupid expensive Baccarat crystal one liter bottle lol I'm not sure how Nuit de Feu performs yet, but all of the Louis Vuitton fragrances I've gotten so far have been amazing. I think the one random compliment I've gotten from a stranger so far was when I layered Pacific Chill and Ombre Nomade and Mancera Instant Crush. I might add a spray of Attrape-Reves too. The feminine scent really makes the more masculine ones pop.

Poof - and it's gone ! I love incense perfumes and adore woody and resinous juices. This one ticks all the boxes with incense and olibanum oozing from the base notes. But in real life it fails to deliver on it's promise. There is something missing here. It's as if Cavallier tried to build a structure only using bases. The heart is weak and top notes so light that minutes after applying the perfume I have to make an effort to smell it, even after getting really close. I really want to love this and i truly do for the few minutes that I can smell it. The incense is very well balanced with the olibanum and underneath that comes a soft leather. The oud accord is exceptionally soft and only gives whiff of woodiness to reinforce the smoky structure. But.....it is not strong. Heck, it's softer than soft. The only way I can find to make it's presence known on my skin is to apply more of this precious juice - to spray really generously; however, given the price of the juice this seems silly. In terms of sillage and longevity this is a kitten wrapped in a blanket compared to the monsters of presence like Ombre Nomade and Les Sables Roses that are in the same family of Middle East inspired perfumes. Even when comparing this with "XXX" (pick your choice from the LV collection) this perfume ranks on the weak end. Don't get me wrong. This is a delicious perfume. It' smells divine but I am afraid that you will probably be the only one noticing.

This is a wonderful frankincense fragrance that makes its presence known yet is not loud and remains elegant throughout the substantial longevity of the scent. Extremely smooth and well constructed, from initial spray, you get that dry but luxurious frankincense note that is moistened and just slightly sweetened by the faintest hint of rose (not listed) and olibanum. The leather facet makes an appearance slightly later in the initial drydown and the oud here is very gentle, almost imperceptible if you’re not particularly searching for it. It’s not your run-of-the-mill designer fragrance by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, I dare say it’s unique and unlike anything in LV’s compendium of perfumes, nothing like Jaques Cavallier’s other creations and quite distinct from anything else out there that I have had the pleasure of wearing. To me Nuit De Feu conveys class, elegance and indeed power without being too in your face about it. It’s not a fresh playful scent, but rather it conveys maturity, substance and status. It’s perfect for a power meeting or any occasion/setting where you want to assert dominance right off the bat without appearing too intimidating. This is a winner for me, although those unfamiliar with more complex and elevated perfumery might not enjoy it. 6-8 hrs on skin. On clothes, you can definitely still smell it the next day. Absolutely FBW and a keeper.

I first got a sample of this about two years ago and wore it on rotation for a couple of months. At one point I remember thinking to myself "I just don't like it." Yet, consistently, every few days I would pull it out of the drawer to try it "one more time". There's a mysteriousness, an allure to it that wouldn't allow me to fully release it from my grasp. Fast forward to today and my 30+ fragrance collection and testing countless others, I can confidently say this is my favorite of them all. One description that stuck with me was "like a leather bag full of oud was thrown into a bonfire". It's as smoky and heavy as it sounds, and will probably not be an instant favorite to many (heck, even me). But not unlike coffee or beer, your reaction to a first taste is potentially "wait, people *like* this stuff?" And through whatever gateway people take (starting out with fruity beers or putting a lot of cream and sugar in coffee), eventually, over time, you'll begin to appreciate, and eventually crave, the original flavor or scent profile. On days I want to "sweeten" this up, I'll spray Dior Bois D'Argent on the other arm, the floral (iris) aspect to it is a nice complement, while the two are rooted together in their incense core, it's really a dream combination. I really hope this one stays around for a long time even if its not a big seller.

I smelt this in my local LV today here in Brisbane, Australia. It isn’t even on the LV Australia website yet. It is amazing! To me, it feels like this was the missing piece to my collection. I burn incense in my house all the time and I just want that smell carried with me outside of my house. The name Nuit De Feu (Night Of Fire) describes this scent perfectly. It has me envisioning a warm Middle Eastern evening/sunset walking through a souk with incense in the distance. A rich warmth from oud, leather and musk is faint. It has been in my hand for about an hour now and it is turning creamy and a little sweet. It is not offensive at all and both men and women can wear this as an evening or winter fragrance - thought I will wear this all the time. I want to say this to me is a superior version of Penhaligon’s Agarbathi. Just like the pictures, the bottle is stunning. The dry down may produce the musk notes, I will report back after wearing it for a while. Edit: Ends with a vanilla like musk, lasts a good 6 hours on my skin. Edit: I wore it all day today, and was constantly smelling myself in obsession. Though I feel this scent stays close to the body, the sillage is moderate and needs to be sprayed at least 4 times.

First test: this smells nothing like dior bois d’argent to just say first things first. The only similarity is the airiness of the fragrance. Nuit de feu is light smoke with this extremely airy quality. It’s quite intoxicating. Upon initial smell I thought it was just a it smoky for my liking. After wearing for the day I’m Noticing I cannot stop smelling it and get nice wafts throughout the day. It’s not overbearing in anyway as you may think from the note breakdown. Totally wearable and for almost any season IMO. I think I’m ordering a full bottle... 💸💸💸 Update: I ordered a full bottle 🤦🏻♂️I just couldn’t help myself. The scent is intoxicating and the wafts I get while wearing it are insanely addictive and peaceful at the same time. Must test this if you like “darker” scent. It’s a dark and smoky scent without being too smoky! That airiness and light quality while having those dark characteristics is why this is unique and full bottle worthy..ALSO, weird bc you’d think this would be cloying in the summer heat...instead it disappears! So strange but in my climate controlled home it is perfectly prominent. Who knows maybe my nose is broken but I don’t think so...?

Anamalic? Fecal? By the Fireplace? What?? No.... These reviews are so bad it's embarrassing. This is not animalic, nor fecal and it certainly smells absolutely nothing like By the Fireplace. It opens with a bone dry incense, a bit spicy, a bit dark and then quickly becomes all about a soft suede/leather note which persists through the heart and drydown whilst the incense takes a back seat. The oud in this fragrance is softer than soft, it's barely an oud fragrance at all in my opinion. It's not challenging or difficult at all, the smoke is a subtle suggestion alongside the fleeting incense accord and the leather is clean as clean can be. It's a lovely scent though, a very polite, easy to like leather that will stand out from the usual night-time crap due to its lack of sweetness which puts it a cut above in class. Nothing groundbreaking, it's essentially the same suede-like leather note that is in a lot of the LV scents, but that single accord made front and centre, whilst a subtle incense and dark woods base hover fleetingly in the background. I like it, but a decant is good enough for me for now, which is a shame because I love the bottle.

This one grew on me, initially I knew it smelled amazing, high quality and pretty quite unique, but I felt on the fence about it...so on a beautiful sunny winter day in the upper 60’s here in Texas we walked into LV, smelled it on a card and pulled the trigger. Now having been dowsing myself in it for the past three days I have come to fully appreciate this masterful incense creation. This is such a high-grade INCENSE incense fragrance, multiple layers of incense from the fresher piney unburned to the smoldering wafts of the fragrant and dusky smoke, however to me this isn’t a “smoky” scent. Now that being said, it has this fuzzy fury musky base from which the incense rises. As an incense lover, this is hall of fame material IMO, the real Oud manages almost a cocoa feel, but this dies off and leads to the long mid of pure frankincense, finally reaching a pleasant woody very faintly creamy stage exit. I received many compliments and inquiries while wearing this at work, the silllage seems to be very appealing to the masses! I love that Louis Vuitton actually made this fragrance, scents like these are what keep me ever searching

Off the bat, there is a soft silvery smoky note in the beginning that transitions into leather and oud. The leather-oud accord here is very similar to Histoires des Parfums Petroleum: acrid and mineralic. It’s an irreligious oud, the kind that resembles plaster of Paris, more than the aloeswood incense that I get from Ombré Nomade and Les Sables Roses. Likewise, the incense here is more quiet joss stick smoke and burning embers in a hearth. Not a majestically spiritual and enshrined rendition of incense but instead evokes a very comforting and homey feel. The leather is faintly sweetened with a soft animalic honey and, as it wears, this accord is joined by a nougat-like vanilla musk in the drydown, gentle and fluffy. It’s very elegantly composed and I get average sillage and longevity with 3 sprays, nowhere near the potency of Ombré Nomade which is a 1 spray, room-filling wonder.

Does not smell good by any normal means, but I have a weird fascination with this fragrance. It's the most mysterious fragrance I've ever sniffed Definitely not something I'd ever wear on the norm, but damn do I love it even if it smells like a barn in the opening. The full scent is this smooth, almost creamy oud and incense with this aftertaste of leather marking your nose after you've sniffed a waft. This is one of those scents where you can close your eyes and envision something very clearly. Burning, ashes, embers, just wafting in the air, with hints of a dull sweetness. I like it for this fact alone. But this is something every normal person should steer away from. Want to get a full bottle of this before it's fully discontinued. Hell, even the bottle itself looks super appealing. Absurd price though

Nuit de Feu is one of my absolute favourite incense fragrances and I want a bottle so badly. Structurally, this is one of the more simplistic scents from Louis Vuitton, but that doesn’t make it boring in the slightest. This is an overdose of brooding, smoky incense backed up by an incredibly smooth and rustic leather. Alongside this is a thick, resinous dose of oud and a hint of animalic musk to create something primal and alluring. The quality of ingredients is fantastic as usual, and the blending and master craft of perfumery here is brilliant. Definitely one of the more underrated releases from the brand, won’t match up to everyone’s tastes but for me this is an exquisite perfume with exceptional lasting power.

A gorgeous, sophisticated and surprisingly subtle woody Oriental scent showcasing a lovely Somali frankincense. The perfume opens with the frankincense and olibanum moves to a brief heart of leather and Assam Oud and settles on a base of synthetic musk. The perfume whose name translates to night fire showcases the expert minimal blending style of Jacques Cavallier and has a discreet understated feel in spite of heavy ingredients. The masculine leaning scent has moderate projection and good longevity. A must try for incense lovers and those into woody Orientals, this is classy sexy perfumery without screaming money over the rooftops. Enjoy!

I love this one. It sits very close to the skin for me and sometimes has this "lemony-ness" that I like. However, I don't catch that every time. I am glad I purchased this one. It's a very masculine scent in my opinion, and one that either people aren't noticing when I wear it or that they don't like and are too polite to say anything, haha. Unlike Ombre Nomade, which sticks out and has a massive sillage ( everyone knows I'm wearing it when I do put it one), this Nuit de Feu is more subtle. I have a thing for these types of scents though so I'm very glad to have it in my collection. I love wearing this one just for me.

As an AVID incense lover this fragrance is definitely one of the best takes on Middle Eastern incense. If you have, I own, D&G Velvet Incenso this is a fraternal twin. Similar in the openings but in the mid and base they diverge quite a bit. Overall, I'm glad I have it for my ever growing collection of incense fragrances. I own the entire CDG series Armani Prive Bois D Encens and Encens Satin Tom Ford Amber Absolute, Sahara Noir Interlude Man original and Iris and countless others just to show I'm an serious incense fan. Owning this and Velvet Incenso would be redundant for most, but I'm glad I have it.

Such a misunderstood masterpiece. Going to be sad to see it go. Its closest cousin is the dawn. A fragrance 4 times more expensive than this already outlandish priced bottle. This is a damp musky incense where is the dawn is dry and ashy. Where this perfume went wrong for the masses is the opening blue cheese Oud funk which was too strong for many. I was ok with it and patient enough to realise that once it settled the funk would go away. Going to have to nurture my bottle now. I also think it would work well layering it with other scents. Going to give it a try with some real Tonkin deer musk.

A heavenly evening scent. I purchased a 5ml decant recently, being interested in incense, leather, and oud forward fragrances, and very regularly wear it for myself when I'm headed off to bed. It is an oddball of cold smokey incense, worn down leather, musk and wood. It is barnyardy in a fanciful and easygoing way. And I do even get a bit of a fecal note from it in the opening as some of the negative reviews mention -- but it is inoffensive to my nose, let shit lie. It is intimate and sits close to the skin. Uplifting and meditative. God is in his Heaven / All's right with the world.

I blind bought this because it seems to have been discontinued and I live in a country where LV don’t have any official presence. Some of the reviews here had me a bit scared, but I guess not everyone can handle something that isn’t a basic designer scent. Nuit de Feu is incredibly thick and resinous. I can honestly barely notice the oud in there. First 30 minutes are smoky and incense-y, but then the resins take over and it turns really nice and sweet on my skin. An incredible perfume. Zero regrets for the blind buy. A shame it’s disappearing from the market.
