Pur Santal

Some of you people are genuinely braindead. Pur santal is well.... just santal. It is meant to be layered, meant to be basic and just a single note. Santal boosts the longevity, and projection of your cologne by binding to other cologne oils, making them take longer to evaporate. This scent could be worn by itself but LV markets it as a layering. If you have any knowledge on perfumery, you know how expensive high quality santal oil is. Since this is an extrait, it is 40-50% oil concentration. Sandalwood oil gets expensive, around $8-10 per ml. Around $360-500 for the oil itself. You also have to account for the bottle, presentation, labor, brand image cost and all of that. Sure, it is way overpriced, but perfumery is a form of expression, and this is an example of it. I personally love this fragrance, it is a rich, deep and slightly earthy type of santal. Lasts forever with insane projection. 8.5/10

I can’t remember exactly what this smelled like when I smelled it at the LV flagship store in Paris, but I don’t remember being blown away. It seemed fairly basic, although high quality and good smelling. The price point around $1,000 is absolutely insane. I normally can kinda say “I get it” or think something is a little overpriced, but I have no clue who’s actually buying this. You can get a full collection of better scents for the price of this one. Take 3 100 mL bottles out of LV line, and you’ll be out slightly less money with something you’ll likely enjoy more. This has to be the biggest money grab I’ve ever seen in perfumery. I am a fan of LV and own 3 from them so far that I paid full retail for, but they are out of their mind here. Huge pass.

I must express my deep disappointment with some of the recent comments, which seem to overlook the very essence of this fragrance. This is a pure Santal, and its price reflects the exceptional quality and refinement of the raw material , not a typical designer-style composition. It is intentionally crafted for layering, as clearly stated in the collection’s concept: “The Art of Layering.” I personally own Pur Ambre as well, and I’ve been layering them to create some truly breathtaking, gatekeep-worthy fragrance combinations. This line isn’t about instant mass appeal--> it’s about artistry, nuance, and olfactory craftsmanship for those who appreciate fine perfumery.

If I could whore myself at the headquarters of LV and get this for free I would say its worth it But no fragrance is worth $1000+ Smells great tho. Pure creamy sandalwood with great performance (should be for 1k). But you have smelled this accord in some high quality scents so you aint missing out
