Rhapsody

1st Impressions from the LV counter: Absolutely gorgeous, sophisticated mossy white floral, with a bit of an animalic bite that sometimes comes from white florals; maybe unisex by today's standards -- floral with no sweetness and very dry. I'm a big-white-florals and old school chypre fan and I adore this perfume. I definitely will get my hands on a reasonably priced sample or decant. ------------------------------------------------------------------- After wearing a sample for 2 days: I love this! At turns, it's a sweet, green, slightly soapy-clean lily of the valley (with just a touch of sweet jasmine) and earthy, minerally, almost salty patchouli and mate. I love perfumes with contrasts, and the mate brings a really nice bitter, smoky, tea-like note to the sweeter florals and totally prevents Rhapsody from becoming a sweet perfume. It does bear a resemblance to classic chypre scents such as Van Cleef and Arpels First (Eddie Bulliqi mentioned First above, in his appreciation of Rhapsody), but First is a classic, thick, denser chypre, while Rhapsody stays light and sheer throughout, like more contemporary chypres (he mentions Coco Mad). Happily, Rhapsody has decent longevity and my six little spritzes on my arms lasted for 5 or so hours. While it's not a BIG perfume in sillage, it does make a satisfying, modest scent bubble. As always, I've been trying to figure out what other scents Rhapsody is related to that I also love, what about them is similar or puts them in the same general scent family. Rhapsody reminds me a bit of the fresh, salty patchouli Armani scent, Air de Gioia, it has some of the same breezy sophistication as Trussardi EDP (that has patchouli, too, but also leather), and also the green mossiness (though not the juiciness -- Rhapsody reads very dry) of Miss Arpels. To my patchouli-loving nose, Rhapsody is perfect and is my favorite of the three LV scents I've tried and love (the other two are Attrape-Reves -- rich, patchouli lichi peony/rose -- and Heures d'Absence -- fresh, powdery, almost violet-smelling mimosa. The only problem with Rhapsody (and the others) is the price. Either I'll have to find someone who's selling smaller amounts of it, like I did with both Attrape-Reves and Heures d'Absence, or see if I can find a satisfying dupe. I'll be ordering an oil from Universal Perfumes & Cosmetics that I'll dilute, and we'll see how accurate of a dupe it is...

Absolutely stunning. A cool mossy forest floor, studded with lily of the valley. After a while a similarly cool jasmine joins in, with tea notes adding extra greenness and a sense of woodiness, but not of a deep dark wood. This is a walk through a moist little forest park after a spring drizzle of rain. There’s a hint of smoke drifting over from somewhere distant. I don’t understand the comments about excessive sweetness or fruitiness, that’s not my experience at all. This is subtle, classy and beautiful. It is a Chypre but it feels stripped down and modern to me. It’s unisex, and creates an excellent scent bubble and at least 8 hour longevity. It’s very expensive and I definitely think that has to join in the conversation. I will say the bottle is wonderful and adds to its aesthetic. This fragrance more than any other I’ve smelled encapsulates the fragile hope of spring with its new green buds shrouded in dew drops.

I own almost everything Jacques Cavallier has made for LV, and this is a very special one that truly stands out. While I reach for Symphony far more often (due to its versatility), Rhapsody almost feels like a work of art. It's incredibly evocative in terms of its creative vision while also being so well blended from a technical perfumery standpoint. I don't even like chypre as a genre to begin with, let alone one with a sweet lactonic undertone. But somehow Rhapsody makes it all work perfectly. I understand why it's not a popular pick and why some people might find it screechy. This isn't one of those fragrances where you bury your nose into your wrist and sniff it every few minutes. It's meant to project and leave a beautiful sillage in the air. Heavy Veramoss in the drydown, with Ambroxan working wonders.

Rhapsody is not the first LV fragrance I purchase but it's the one from this house I enjoy wearing. I grow to love this one after tried several times on my skin and finally decided to purchased the full bottle. This is everything I wish Guerlain Embruns Ylang would be. Whereas Embrun Ylang is way too shape and soapy on me, Rhapsody is perfect. On my skin, Rhapsody is a metallic soapy, salty floral and powdery the same time. This fragrance reminds me of Gris Dior for some reason. They don't smell the same but both give me same vibe. I don't have many Ylang Ylang scents in my collection but Rhapsody and Chanel Bois Des Iles are the only Ylang Ylang dominant fragrances I can wear and enjoy.

Wow this is underrated for me 10/10 so creamy and has a earthy dampness to it almost palpable this is not a coniferous green more like a mate green vibe, mossy, vetiver all wrapped up with floral notes, this is another masterpiece by LV the quality is out of this world. As far as the sweetness I get more like vanilla but I’m not sure that it has it. so to be honest it’s very hard for me to describe this beautiful concoction I would say it’s more appreciated by the mature and I can see how some can get a barnyard scent. I didn’t like it initially, but now I’m addicted. as I get more acquainted to this perfume and gain more knowledge, I will have a better description down to the Tea! 🫖 😃

Rhapsody you are the masterpiece 😎. I love this perfume. They are so classy and elegant. Sweet, dark and evening. If I wouldn't know it is LV I would say Tom Ford. The scent is between Black Orchid but sweeter version, Velvet Orchid and possibly a little bit Noir De Noir. Also reminds me Coco Chanel EDP. If you are Tom Ford perfume lover you will find connection with Rhapsody LV. The perfume is long lasting and strong, but I wouldn't wear it in summer more autumn or winter. I'm planing to buy full bottle of this beauty as it's my type of the perfume 😍

I bought this in August of 2023 loved it and knew I would wear this when the weather got cooler. Well for me this is defiantly a fall cozy fragrance. I has a nice linger as well, people will comment that my shop smells amazing and it is the Rhapsody!!!! I will say it is a little powdery but not the musky powdery or the baby powder powdery. I could me a distant cousin of BDK Gris Charnel without the fig note. I love them both.

Some tea and very indolic white flowers. Love this for the dry down. I guess the haters simply hte the indolic nature of the white flowers. Can’t imagine them trying this out layering with Myriad. They will then have a very complete picture. Lol. Haters are gonna hate. Can’t help with the indolic side if white flower scents are to feel natural.

I got a sample of this with a recent purchase. This is a gorgeous, fresh, light-pretty scent imo. Long lasting, quality. Expect no less from LV. It didn't make the earth move for me like Ombre Nomade did, but its pretty. Definitely more feminine. Update March 16, 2022: This is an amazing scent. The more I wear it, the more I love it.

This is an austere and beautiful modern chypre. The vetiver and ylang ylang give the fragrance a bright white floral lift while the mate tea note grounds the fragrance with a bold earthiness. There is no sweetness in this. It's rich and dry. For those that enjoy a hot cup of strong tea with nothing added.

Wonderful Fragrance from Louis Vuitton. At $550 for a bottle it is definitely very expensive. I wouldnt say its a great value fragrances, but it definitely smells expensive. I would describe this fragrance as a very well balanced powdery floral fragrance that I absolutely cannot stop smelling.

Chypres are not having a moment right now, I get that! But y’all doing this frag completely dirty with this 3.3 rating nonsense! I love the smell of mate and lily here, a rare, feminine leaning, modern chypre - not mainstream and I’m all up for that

Brilliant. Best smell I’ve ever experienced in my life.

I think I might be noseblind to this fragrance to a degree. The projection is described as "enormous" - I do not get that (I have an official sample). To my nose, it is quite subtle and gentle. The scent itself is lovely, and again, I don't really detect most of the notes listed. No Lily of the Valley at all, but I do get a beautiful earthy mate on a creamy, even milky background, all framed by a toned-down, bearable, stern oakmoss. I like this infinitely more than the most famous fragrance from this collection - Symphony, which is still doing nothing for me. I think Rhapsody is a fragrance that deserves numerous wears to fully appreciate.

My favourite from the new range with the elaborate lids. This is an oily, strong, ylang-forward yellow floral with everlasting power. It’s just a bit too sweet for me as there’s glowing warm resins in the base which much be a sticky sweet honey-amber. I keep double checking for vanilla or tonka. As it develops, it continues to sweeten against your skin and (unfortunately for me) gets too sweet to a point that I can’t wear it anymore. This is warm golden floral sunshine and smells like bees have collected the most premium pollen from the yellowest flowers to make a royal honey offering for their queen.

I feel very little from the actual pyramid. Instead I can describe it as a sweet fruity floral scent with a nice ripe mango note supported by soft white flowers and clean radiant musks. It has a bit of “overripe fruit” nuances as well, but it’s not too bad. Overall it’s a very happy tropical perfume for my nose. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

It is just as tofy80 stated, there’s no way this fragrance is unisex. This smells extremely feminine (go for it if that’s your thing). This is a strong floral fragrance. Beast mode performance all around.

Mildly sweet light smoke... Sweet, mate, ambrette, vanilla roses, patchouli, amber, & hints of milk. I really enjoy this one in particular with its gourmand-ish touch. Beautiful.

I totally disagree this scent is unisex. very feminine, classical with nuclear performance.

Louis Vuitton Rhapsody This is way too far from my kind of taste. But honestly, it’s quite good. I definitely wouldn’t wear it, but I can appreciate it for what it is. It opens with fresh white florals, mainly because of the lily of the valley, which gives it a clean, soapy smell backed up nicely by jasmine. The patchouli here is earthy but light, and when combined with oakmoss, it creates this wet, forest like background. Mate adds a grounding, green herbal touch. It isn’t in your face it just sits there, doing its own thing, adding a slight bitter nuance. Then there’s vetiver, giving a light dusty touch mixed with a hint of smokiness. The smokiness is extremely minimal, almost nonexistent, but it blends well with all the notes, adding subtle contrast to the established soapy green feel. To me, this is mass appealing nothing challenging. It smells familiar, but not in an overly stereotypical way. For example, MCM Collector’s Edition is also floral and mass appealing, but it smells cheap and overplayed borderline the scent of a cheap hooker because of its sweetness. I can’t stand it. I compare these two because both have that floral, familiar, mass appealing character, but Rhapsody is simply higher quality and much better balanced. It smells mature and classy. For context, this review comes from a male who loves dark, heavy animalic perfumes with skanky oud and heavy smoke. So I’m being non biased here. I’ve tried multiple Louis Vuitton perfumes, but to me, they’re mostly boring. None of them excited me. Even Pur Oud was a letdown I expected something more extreme. Ombre Nomade smells like a castrated oud sharp, sitting in the background, overshadowed by rose. It’s like a stereotypical Arabic perfume but with shittier, sharper, cleaner oud For western audience I won’t wear Rhapsody because it’s overly feminine for me, but I do like how the classic notes are delivered. Still, considering the price, there are way better perfumes out there for cheaper. Objectively, I give this a 6 out of 10. The rating would be higher if the price was lower.

I was hoping this would smell great because the bottle is so stinkin' beautiful. Unfortunately, the oakmoss and white florals are not mixing well on my skin. There's a bitter note that comes across as kind of licorice-y. I don't like it. :-(

Very old school mature chypre (minus the civet)- in the same vein as 31 Rue Cambon but without the bright greeness - this is more mossy and staid. It does have a somewhat masculine edge, as many chypres do by contemporary tastes at least. Its the sort of thing that you used to smell a lot of back in the 70s and 80s and reminds me of many frags I smelled when I was a kid. Maybe thats why it strikes me as a bit dated and I say that as someone whose favorite genre of fragrance was chypre; I've still got a bottle of Lancome Magie Noire pure parfum. They're not the easiest things to wear which is why chypres have fallen out of favor over the years. This one has the potential to be very off-putting owing to the oakmoss and lily of the valley combination which can come across as musty and mothball-y. It certainly doesn't warrant the ridiculous price tag. Overall, a no from me. I have a 2ml sample if anyone would like to swap or purchase.

I loved the lily of the valley and jasmine notes in this perfume, but I feel like these lovely notes were majorly eclipsed by the bitter and dirty smell of oakmoss and mate. I think I got some of that dirty smell from the dusty smelling vetiver too. It honestly gave me a bit of a headache and it made me think of old mothballs in the closet... I then got lots of rose and wood in the final dry down, which thankfully gave me some respite from the dirty mothball scent. I feel like this fragrance was all over the place and that the notes in this could have been blended a bit better. It was super strong in sillage too and it lasted about 14 and a half hours on my skin. I'd say that this perfume is unisex in smell and is neither masculine nor feminine, due to its mix of both floral notes and bitter and earthy green notes. I think that this perfume is fairly overpriced and I'd only give it a 3.5/10.

When I read that Rhapsody was LV’s interpretation of the Chypre category, my interest was definitely piqued and I had to try it. Unfortunately, I was met with quite profound disappointment and distaste for the resulting scent, which is a shame because the notes sounded fantastic. The problem is it’s far too dry, almost sickeningly so, from the overdose of maté and oakmoss/patchouli. This intensely dry, earthiness is then contrasted by a barrage of synthetic-smelling soapy white florals which, in theory, should help balance things but instead make the scent more nauseous. Asking £455 for 100ml of perfume is already beyond ridiculous, but when it then smells like it barely costs £50, that’s when you really know they’re taking the piss. There are many perfumes from LV which I love, and this doesn’t even come close.

I really like Tom Ford Black Orchid EDP and Parfum. LV Rhapsody basically smelled like Black Orchid to me, but the opening was way too feculant (poopy) on scent strip and my skin. One advantage is it has that LV airy, sparkly, radiance so it feels more versatile throughout all seasons and times of day, but only if you can get over that fecal opening, which I can’t yet. Also way too overpriced???

I'm having a lot of problems with this fragrance. Very oily nuclear performance. I would expect that this house would only use the finest naturals and synthetics but I am smelling what seems like harsh aroma chemicals. I love most fragrance but this is a headache inducing failkure for me. Do not blind buy.

On the skin it's a totally different scent, quite unpleasant to be honest—imagine pouring the most artificial tasting heavy colored punch all over a pile of mothballs 🤢 (and trust me, I'm no stranger to chypres & muguet)

I just remember slight aldehydes & a classic feel, very light and didn't wow me—definitely not as complex or interesting as the notes suggest.

If you never tested this fragrance, be sure that you're going to hate this heavy floral scent.

This is by far the worst lv frag. It smells like pee.

Los matices que aporta son verdaderos perfumones que podrían perfectamente ser muy buenas fragancias sin los citricos, pero aquí son un gran aporte de personalidad en cada versión, a cada cual más atractiva. En esta colección, es difícil no encontrar varias que te hagan sentir la diferencia notando que están bien ensambladas y descubriendo nuevos matices en los citricos de siempre. Son caras, si, pero, aquí hay un maestro detrás que parece estar diciendo que no se guarda nada y que lo da todo en esta colección demostrando que los cítricos es lo que le ensalzaron y lo que sabe trabajar. Después de ser el artífice de introducir el Calone y arriesgarse apostando por hacer perfumes con fragancia de colonia fresca, hoy en día nos ofrece una multivariedad de aquello, después de haber trabajado para las principales marcas comerciales. Apuesta segura y por tanto precio alto asegurado. No vale la pena reseñar cada fragancia porque van a tener tantos matices, que solo hay que probarlas para saber si te gustan lo suficiente para pagar su precio, la calidad y el buen mezclado es valor seguro Un saludo 🎉.

Rhapsody, by Louis Vuitton, smells like horse manure, animalic scents, moss, Lilly-Of-The-Valley, mate tea and patchouli. I am surprised no one in other reviews can smell the strong fecal scent that is the strongest in the opening, but doesn't disappear later on either. Maybe not many people spent their time around horses to be able to pick up the horse manure scent in this perfume? Longevity and projection are really good, if you like this perfume, you are offered the means to enjoy it.

Rhapsody is a fragrance that I really like: delicate floral notes, refreshed by yerba mate and deepened by woods. I feel as if I could perceive the spring scent of a garden from a distance, as I walk enjoying the first warmth of the sun. When I visited New York a few weeks ago I managed to find my way into an LV store. The entire extrait line didn’t stick out to me except for rhapsody, but not in a good way. I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt due to the fact that I did not wait for the dry down, however, when I sprayed it on a tester strip it smelled like realistic piss. 0/10 opening

Idk where is my review but I’m going to summarize it here.. Cacharel Anais Anais. Yes, that’s what I get. I was raised in FL so I went to a lot of 15yo parties and that’s what relatives used to give girls at the time so that was a very familiar smell for me. Mostly a mossy Lilly of the valley with extra florals and some incense. Old fashioned Chypre.

I didn't expect to like Rhapsody this much. This is such a beautiful, well made classical fragrance with both very good sillage and staying power. Not really a chypre to my nose but then most of these new chypres made according to current regulations rarely are.More of a rich,powdery ,non sweet floral. I really enjoy and treasure my 2ml sample .

The cassis stands out. And there is an overwhelming abundance of ambroxan. It is very fruity to my nose. There is almost no classic feel to it. I am not sure if this can be considered a Chypre scent. Overall, it reminds me of Aventus for Her, and occasionally the original Aventus, because it sometimes exudes an animalic and leathery scent.

I so wanted to love Rhapsody, I was very excited to finally try this at the LV boutique. It is unique. If the proportions of the notes in here were tweaked, it would be promising but as it stands, the earthiness of the maté is overpowering. It’s very warming on the skin and I think some will love it.

No “reminds me of” comparisons? Damn that’s too bad. I have a test card with this sprayed onto it that’s been sitting on my nightstand and I’m still getting whiffs of it like a week later. Crazy. Smells really nice too, I just wish there was a clone because I can’t pay LV dollar for this.

I smell the air of cheese fondue, smelly damp socks and retro mossy white flower perfume in the air. Not rank enough to be it impossible to explore, but definitely not attractive... to me.

I feel the ylang ylang, jasmine and subtle woods give this fragrance a summer on the Mediterranean beach vibe. This is fresh, elegant and so very sexy.

sweet creamy suntan lotion ylang ylang nicely balanced with soapy elements. pretty if this is what you’re into.

Those caps are tacky! The original LV bottles looked so beautiful and minimalistic.

I've got a bottle if anyone wants to buy it. £300 shipped to the UK.
