Amber Malatya

Based on the hype around Porthole I was really excited about the houses' new fragrances. Once it got available in my country it didn't take me a long time to go out and test it. On paper, the apricot note was dominant to a point that I couldn't really smell anything else even after 20-30 minutes after spraying. I was curious, so I sprayed it on skin and I ended up liking it so much that I got a full bottle. On (my) skin I get a super juicy apricot opening. The apricot is sweet, but not too sweet for my liking - it also has a nice undertone from the coriander. Once the fragrance starts to dry down the apricot note is still prominent, but changes its role from the main star to being a supporting act. The dry down reveals a nice combination of sandalwood, oud and leather with the apricot lingering on the background. The fragrance feels super warm and cozy, mostly suitable for cool evening dates and special occasions - although I'm wearing it to work and whenever I please to do. As for performance and projection, Amber Malatya delivers great in both fronts. I easily get 12+ hours (somewhere around 16-17 hours) with a strong projection for 3-4 hours and a moderate projection till the hour 8 mark. With the appropriate amount of sprays (not more than 4 or 5) I think it also works in an office space or a school with the possibility of getting compliments, but Amber Malatya is way better suited for cozy, romantic or special nights during cooler times.

Julien Rasquinet has created an amber masterpiece here. Fruity, addictive and perfect for the colder months. This is something new and exciting which is hard to come by in the fragrance world. This release is hands down the best from Loumari. 🔥

For me this is a more dense and deeper/woodier version of Bitter Peach. Smelled them side by side, yeah no doubt. Pretty good one, Bitter Peach for colder weather!

Right after spraying, the apricot note bursts forth intensely and lingers for quite a while, eventually settling into a lactonic and creamy scent. If there’s one disappointing thing, it’s that the apricot is dominant that it’s a bit difficult to catch the other notes. Both the longevity and projection of this fragrance are excellent. I think it’s a perfect fragrance for autumn and winter. While it’s a bit too sweet for my personal taste, it would be an incredibly attractive option for anyone who loves gourmand perfumes.

Big disappointment for me. Love the line and love the notes. However, during my 6+ hour wear time, it was one very long linear note of apricots. No development and no other notes popping through. Clearly, not good with my chemistry. I think this will be very popular though, as the note breakdown is lovely "on paper". A de-clutter for sure. Glad I tried a decant first!

After trying the decants of Maydan, Porthole, Noble Cavale, and Amber Malatya, I can sum up my entire experience in one conclusion. First, the presentation deserves genuine praise. The bottles are absolutely beautiful—unique, artistic, and exceptionally well-designed. They look luxurious, original, and visually stand out from almost anything else on the market. Credit where it's due: the brand clearly knows how to create desire through aesthetics. The fragrances themselves, however, are a completely different story. To my nose, they come across as overly synthetic, heavily overbuilt, and strangely familiar. Not in the sense of paying homage to classics, but in a way that feels tired and cheap rather than refined or luxurious. There is simply too much going on in each composition, yet very little that feels truly memorable or elegant. After hearing endless praise across YouTube, Instagram, Facebook fragrance groups, and countless online reviews, I finally decided to spend around $40 on decants to see what all the excitement was about. I wanted to experience the mystery for myself instead of relying on the opinions of others. Unfortunately, I just don't get the hype. This isn't written out of frustration for spending the money, nor is it a hate post. Quite the opposite—I genuinely wanted to give the brand a fair chance with an open mind. But after wearing and testing all four fragrances, my conclusion is simple: they are nowhere near worth the level of praise they receive, and certainly not worth the asking price for a full bottle. Beautiful bottles? Absolutely. Beautiful fragrances? Not for me. If you're considering a blind buy, my advice is simple: don't. Sample them first. You may end up loving them, but based on my experience, the presentation dramatically overshadows what's actually inside the bottle.
