Vetiver

This is a lovely old school vetiver that I came across in a quite obscure way, and I'm glad I did! It casts & lasts, is inexpensive, turns heads and has endless versatility. The opening is certainly the star, with spicy pepper & citrus being a more familiar presence, but it is beautifully highlighted by an unmistakeable green apple. Very unusual. It soon transitions to showcase a pristine jasmine & lavender that are very welcoming and dries to a woody base of vetiver & cedar. I love the staying power and class of this modern day offering from a house that's been around since time immemorial. The dry down isn't as interesting as the opening, but I still have to say that I prefer this Piver to the reformulated Guerlain Vetiver, which has become blurry and indistinct in its retake. I think they're relatively comparable vetivers and I always find myself erring in favor of the Piver. If you see this beauty and you're a vetiver fan, you'll no doubt find a faithful and rewarding fragrance that won't hurt the pocket book too much either. What's not to like about that? Gold.

The morning is rainy and the sky is grey. The smell of grass and earth from the nearby field is perceptible. A perfect spring day to wear the gem that is Piver's Vetiver. I own the old version although I haven't had the chance to get my nose on the newer iterations. Piver's Vetiver opens with sharp sweet citrus notes that dissipate into a spicy lavender combo. The combo is supported throughout by the notes of vetiver, musk and patchouli giving the earthy woodiness character of the scent. The fragrance gives good sillage for the first 2-3 hours and remains noticeable for the whole work day. Piver's vetiver and work go together like hands in glove. Piver's Vetiver is mature and austere. It is a beautiful reminder of what perfumery was like in bygone eras. Nevertheless, it is also a benchmark for the note of vetiver. A must try, at very least, for the connoisseurs of perfumery and vetiver, in particular! 8/10

Gwizz review says it all! A very fresh vetiver with a nice citrus-green apple mix in the opening mixed with pepper. Very refreshing and modern smelling combo. The drydown is a bit smokey, which makes it very masculine with a nice vetiver-woody base surrounded by flowery and spicy elements. It lasts and projects at least average. Recommended if you can find it! Could have been, to my imagination, a (more modern) flanker of the Guerlain one, next to the 'Sport' and 'Frozen' versions! Rating: 9/10

Old school Vetiver. I can wear this scent every day. Going to work, going out. I love this one because it smells earthy and fresh at the same time.

A great peppery, lavender, vetiver combo. Masculine. Clean. Very moreish. Keeps me going back to my arms for more.

The opening is a zingy, nose-tickling blend of citrus, cool herbs and a pepper, then a dusting of powdery barbershop lavender. The vetiver develops more as the citrus subsides, subdued and less rooty than say Malle's "Vetiver Extraordinaire", but has a rugged earthiness that feels unmistakably masculine. It does fade a little too quickly for me, but for the price I wouldn't mind buying a big bottle and re-applying. Could be worn day or night and in all types of weather. Fresh, spicy and quite versatile.

A manly perfume that reminds you of an earlier male generation but seamlessly carries over to the next. Timeless male scent, not dated! It is solid, it is linear. The opening tells you exactly what it is. When you transcend from a boy to a man, put this on.

This is a very fresh, clean, green vetiver, with sweetness from the apple and tarragon. Sometimes I find it a bit too sweet, but I often enjoy wearing this. I much prefer it to Guerlain's Vetiver.

Masculine, confident, pedantic even. Posh smoky winner)) Very retro, yet very modern.

Really refined vetiver fragrance, very smooth opening with a real creaminess to it, a little bit like the almond note in some of Guerlain's L'Homme Ideal range. Nothing at all like Encre Noire, this is much lighter and much more elegant. A really classy if slightly mature scent for some, but personally I love it.

Nice old school thin bodied vetiver. A little better than other 'vetiver fragrances' (Fragonard's, for example), but still, nothing mindblowing here. Some may appreciate this scent, as well as its very honest price tag. That said, imho even for vetiver addicts, this one is far from being quintessential in a collection. I must confess I am a big fan of classic fragrances, which are disappearing rapidly, either being discontinued or reformulated (=watered down and neutered). And just when I was giving up hope and thought I was born just a bit too late, there comes LT Piver's vetiver to the rescue and restores my faith in humanity. Great smelling vetiver/lavender combo, although I think (maybe I'm imagining things) I could smell my beloved and elusive oakmoss. I'm pinching myself thinking I spent EUR 10 on it (kudos to TKMaxx for carrying it). Now I realized what a schmuck I was for not getting also the Cuir de Russie and Cedar, when they were available for a pittance.

One of the best vetiver scent out there. Very deep, earthy and old school (in the good way) fragrance. It's for mature and elegant men however young people will be oryginal wearing this one on great occasion. Special events, evening suit and ciggaro - that are additions to this scent.

A vetiver in which freshness is achived with an unripe green apple note in the opneing. It dries down to a retrò woody-nutty fragrance that's still pretty likeable but, maybe, not as interesting as it is during the opening. Nice and inexpensive. Rating: 6.5/10

Very generic but classic vetiver, hinging mostly on its bright, green and fresh side instead of a dark, brooding or sweet side. Although nice and fresh, there's something cheap smelling and opaque about this scent that repels me.

I love this. If you want to know how it smells buy a bar of imperial leather soap and imagine that smell just a bit sweeter. It's not for the young ones. It's more anchorman.classy stuff.
