Ho incominciato un percorso olfattivo con il mio profumiere di fiducia, qui a Genova, si parla del profumo attraverso la storia, di come l'uomo, dall'inizio dei tempi non possa fare a meno del profumo, e grazie a questo incontro, ho conosciuto Black Jade. In un anedotto: mentre la famiglia reale scappava da Parigi,vestita come una famigliola normale, per rifugiarsi nei paesi Bassi Austriaci nei pressi di Varenne-en-Argonne fu fermat, per un controllo di Routine da parte della guardia cittadina che, osservando all'interno della carrozza, notò la famigliola, ma la prima cosa che sentì fu il profumo intenso della donna, allarmò la guardia che osservò come una donna comune non potesse indossare una tale fraganza, pensate, un profumo può anche far uccidere!! Solo per questo, è un profumo che indossandolo, vi farà indossare la storia, un Cipriato con note non di certo moderne( e non è un insulto, anzi) complesso il giusto, potrei parlarvi della nota di Gelsomino, di Bergamotto, di Spezia, no no .... sono quei profumi che devono essere indossati e vissuti, ecco a me ha fatto provare emozioni, quando mia moglie lo indossa, vibra nell'aria emozioni e storia il mix giusto per questo profumo, potrebbe, nell'istante della prima prova, deludervi, e farvi dire no, non è il mio genere, aspettate, vivetelo, poi giudicate . voto 8/9 I started an olfactory journey with my perfumer of confidence, here in Genoa, he speaks of the perfume through the story, of how man, the beginning of time can not do without the smell, and thanks to this meeting, I known Black Jade. This was my first Niche fragrance and I said to myself I want to see the difference in what a natural fragrance could smell like...I got it for a very low price so i felt blessed to have access to it when I first got it because it wasn't so highly available at the time..i don't know if it is still that way and it still is pricey even at 50ml..but Black Jade is all about the spicy Cardamon & Rose in a refreshing way like champagne with it's citrus top notes..yes if you have Coco Chanel this will be familiar to you but if you have ever wanted to try Coco in a new refreshing light..this is delightful..I don't know if it's been reformulated or not over the years but this is a very nice quality fragrance for being natural and you can tell because the quality is there..it comes in a Jade covering and the box inside is silky & white..its a very dense, small box to protect the fragrance over time and it has the logo on top of it..it's beautiful to me..the bottle is very pretty with almost the shape of a curvy woman and the Jade round flat top reminds me of like the Jade you would see in Chinese artifacts and jewelry..if the story is true about Marie Antoinette then you are apart of a piece of history that allows you to glance back into another time and place of perfumery we had never known before..could you see it? Imagine it a bit...they dressed in their most finest apparel and ate the most delicious cuisines and treats and sipped on champagne as they did it..dancing to their fancy affairs..this perfume gives off that vibe of champagne and flowers and the delicacy of a lady..in this case a Queen of a whole nation..to think this was the last form of love this person could have ever known before their death let's you know that love has a way of reaching you beyond the darkest of places..

In a word, exquisite. This is the first Lubin in my collection, and one of the finest I own. Though it starts out on my skin a bit masculine and cologne-like from the bergamot my skin seems to amplify, slowly but surely the soft, spicy rose begins to appear, supported by the incense and cinnamon. Strangely, I do not smell much cardamon, but that is part of the singularity of the scent. As others have mentioned, the blending is seemless and almost effortless. In many ways it reminds me of ballet, where the most talented of ballerinas and danseurs make the complex and difficult movements from years of practice turn into something similarly effortless. I received it today in the mail and applied it immediately. I know that with rest, it will settle down and become even more beautiful. I can not speak to it's longevity, as it has yet to fully dry down, but the silage and projection are very good so far. While this can be worn by both sexes, it leans more towards the feminine on my skin. I care not about claims that it was the perfume of Marie Antoinette. It may have originated from a similar formula, materials, among other things are undoubtedly different from what we experience today. It's a nice thought, but there is no way to tell for sure how similar they may be. What matters most is what has been created today, and that alone makes it a stunning, sophisticated, and magnificent scent.

Black Jade is very well crafted and beautiful. It is not very original: spicy-woody rose is such a popular genre, and there have been numerous takes on it, some brilliant, some less interesting, and to me Black Jade certainly is in the top three. Black Jade reminds me a bit of Juliette Has a Gun line. Sharp musky unapologetic roses and minty patchouli... BJ is not as bold, it is more refined. However, it is no "good girl" perfume either. Overall it's very bright and a bit tart, but only a tiny bit. The rose is enhanced by the spices (loads of cardamom and cinnamon). You definitely have to be into spicy perfumes in order to love Black Jade. It's very savory. Blooming flowers powdered by spicy sweetness, with a hint of something very fresh and sparkling, like champagne and... mint? There's a hint of something green, it makes the whole composition work as a hologram. All the main notes are well detectable, and the combination of them works wonderfully on the skin. BJ smells like an attractive, well dressed, confident woman. I totally see it on a femme fatale type of person: red lipstick, high heels, mellow voice, light step, and Black Jade. This is a very modern smelling perfume, so if you are looking for a retro vibe, it's definitely not here. What is here: French chic with a naughty touch.

This fragrance is typical for Lubin: exotic and spicy, but very French. Pierre-François Lubin loved to travel and for that time he even has been to Alexandria. He had a passion for the Middle-East like his Master Fargeon who created this fragrance first for Queen Marie-Antoinette. This is a fragrance made for a queen: elegant but sophisticated! Black Jade is not just a floral fragrance but a very rich composition based on "Le Petit Trianon", where the most beautiful flowers bloom in the whole of Versailles. The French Jasmine and the Roses are starring in this creation which is very pure and rich. Black Jade is top quality, not compromising on the use of the best ingredients. It is a classical fragrance that develops layer by layer and changes second by second. Like with every other perfume it needs to suit you and it is a question of taste. As it is launched on the American Market as first, this creation will have is devoted lovers and haters. In my opinion Black Jade is a bit too French and European to become very mainstream on the American market. But this makes it even more interesting because it is a creation that moves you and evokes emotions. Five Star rating! Is not been launched outside the USA yet besides Harrods. Black Jade will become a very big succes in Europe, for sure!

I put this on my arm and five minutes later walked out with a full bottle. This was love at first sight. However, there is nothing particularly novel about this stuff. The most exciting thing about it is the completely dubious marketing copy. And seriously, you don't need to gild this lily. Black Jade is like a very well tailored black suit. It may not look like very much on the hanger, but put it on and you're Audrey Hepburn. There's something incredibly tailored and chic about this stuff. (Etat libres *Eau de Protection* is 95% the same perfume. If you gave the same ingredients in little parcels, one to Chanel and one to Montale, you'd get these results. Black Jade smells like Chanel finally got their balls back. Eau de Protection smells like Montale produced a European perfume for the Arab market.) I digress. But Black Jade is in my top ten favourite perfumes. I recently moved overseas and it was the first to make the very truncated suitcase selection. Buy this. It's not made with rare moutaintop orchids or the scent of hummingbird farts. It's not made artisinally by virgins under waning moonlight. It's certainly not connected to Marie Antoinette. It is, however, as satisfying as your Nonna's spaghetti. The real reason to buy this is the craftsmanship.

Oh no! In my latest bottle the completely divine oakmoss has been removed! It was mild and never in the official list of notes, but it added a refreshing, crisp quality and kept the whole thing from becoming a powdery spice-bomb. It still smells very beautiful and the galbanum is so lovely to come across in a modern fragrance where it doesn't produce a decidedly masculine feel. The delicate florals are not quite as noticeable as they once were, but overall Lubin did a good job with how the IFRA and other policing bodies are tying the hands of legacy perfume houses. On me it has become significantly more powdery than it used to be. And it definitely is powdery - almost with an old-fashioned face powder feel. I feel like I can smell rice, but it's not listed. It could possibly be the jasmine/cinnamon combination doing that. Overall, it's a warm, soft, powdery, spicy fragrance without any synthetic notes. It's very rounded and well-blended, but with individual notes still perceptible. The sillage and longevity is excellent, but does not offend or interfere. The EDT is more floral and less spicy, EDP more full. Both are lovely, but EDP more winter-appropriate. Both seem more fitting for cold climates and equally suitable for day and night.

This is a recreation of the last perfume Marie Antoinette wore, Bouquet de la Reine, which she had in a black jade ampule around her neck. She passed the ampule on to a lady in waiting who survived the French Revolution. Plus, the formula for the fragrance survived. It was recreated in 2011 by Lubin, the house that was created by a man who was a perfume supplier for the queen. So, this is the fragrance you wear to calm yourself when you know you’re going to the guillotine. The rose doesn’t scream that it’s a rose perfume but blends into the whole. The cardamom is realistic and mixes with the galbanum to make an herbal green and almost (but not quite) medicinal smell. The patchouli is faint, and there is a soft, ambery, resinous note with a slight hint of incense and powder. It’s pretty and calming. There’s something in it that reminds me of Eau Duelle, but it’s richer and calmer. It's definitely not old fashioned smelling as you might think for something from the 1700s. The modern nose can definitely appreciate it. It's an instant love. The cardamom and glabanum notes seem to last longer on clothing. So, be sure to spray your collar or cuffs so you can experience those notes for a longer duration.

It's amazing how differently we percept perfumes! I see absolutely no similarity between Keiko Mecheri's OLIBAN and BLACK JADE! Apart from the note of rose in both, and the fact that both these perfumes are wonderful. OLIBAN is very dark, smoky and masculine, and animalic. BLACK JADE is sparkling, fresh, spicy, very feminine. In fact's there's no perfume like BLACK JADE, it's phenomenal. I'm taking my words regarding its "JHaG" vibe back, I really love Lady Vengeance, it's great, but Black Jade is something absolutely different. Whereas LV is a modern, teenage, gothic, assertive, thick mentholated rose-patch, BJ is a refined potion made of champagne, perfect makeup, emerald coloured silk, lace, gold, and high heels... it's glamourous and refined, modern but unmistakably classic. Oh, it makes me feel intoxicated right now. This perfume is SO GOOD I just have to find special occasions all the time to use it more often. It isn't pompous at all, it's light and polite, but too good, just to good for almost everything apart from a date with the love of your life. This is what I call a masterpiece: a perfume that makes your heart beat faster.

"Black Jade" is a fresh seductive blend of jasmine and green rose that unfurls within a haze of sweet woody cinnamon, cool cardamom and smoky incense, softened at the edges by a velvety vanilla and tonka bean. It manages to be a double-act that is both soft and demure, yet at the same time, totally sexy and vivacious, like the pretty mild-mannered girl at a party who surprises you with a racy innuendo and a slap on the bum as you leave the dance floor. The texture is so inviting. It sort of wraps you in an embrace of warm, sparkly elegance that makes one think of a 1930's ballroom filled with lustrous flapper girls in feather-fringed dresses, drinking champagne. It's youthful and chic enough to be worn by a younger woman, yet it has a sophistication that makes it wearable for more mature ladies also. In fact I find it has a lot in common with Yves Saint Laurent "Cinéma" in regards to its tone and sweetness. Plus the bottle just exudes luxury. Well worth the price in my opinion. I can't think of any man who would not be enticed by a woman wearing this.

I first smelled Black Jade on a testing card and immediately thought "a man can't wear this!", put the card in my pocket and moved on. Toward the end of the day I pulled the card back out to smell it again and I had to reconsider, by the time I should have been going home I was walking back into the store to buy a bottle. I strongly relate scents and fragrances to memories, events and points-in-time. This fragrance reminds me of a lunch I had to attend at an elderly Lady's house, it was a typical sweltering hot summer afternoon and me being bored went to recline in the sun room. The windows had been left open and there was the most amazing, intoxicating, scent drifting in on the hot breeze from the garden outside. Black Jade puts me in mind of this memory, I breathed in the heavy floral scent and sat in a recliner and slept. I have to agree with Jordan88888888, this perfume is great on me!

Black Jade is a very cardamom heavy perfume. Very spicy rose, and it is a jammy sweet rose. Vanilla comes through for me quite a bit, warm amber, patchouli, sandalwood, cinnamon. The bergamot and galbanum give it a touch of freshness and keeps it crisp and tailored. This is so well blended, so chic, so elegant yet sensual and seductive as well. Black Jade is worn by a woman of style, taste, elegance, sophistication. This smells very upscale to me, very high brow. Very French. Really stunning. Hard not to like if you like spicy, slightly sweet rose perfumes. Lubin's Akkad is such a great companion to Black Jade. I can see an elegantly dressed couple wearing both. Black Jade for her, Akkad for him. I am loving Lubin.

I absolutely love Black Jade. To me, it's a predominantly warm, spicy, incense-y scent with the slight sweetness of florals and amber. It's a very well-blended scent so that all the notes flow smoothly together. What I love about this is that this scent manages to be elegant and special, while also being wearable for everyday. The warm spiciness blend into your skin; it doesn't smell too loud or like it's wearing you. Not to mention, the bottle and the packaging (a white satin box) is gorgeous. One of my favorite perfumes. (I know there's an elaborate story behind the scent which may or may not be true, but in my opinion disregard that and just appreciate the scent for what it is.)

This has got to be the most incredible French perfume I've ever smelled. It might actually rival my precious CHANEL No. 5 in my eyes. It's exactly the kind of perfume I love--SweetnSpicy! I smell a ton of bright, acidic bergamot supported by fragrant green cardamom pods. Then comes a bouquet of magenta roses flanked by a heady dose of spring-fresh jasmine. I smell just a touch of cinnamon about an hour after I spray (it develops over time)...sooo beautiful! I know people can wear whatever they want, but this perfume is SWEET, so I would only recommend it for men if they are the adventurous type. O, Black Jade, thou Goddess of French perfumery, I kneel before thee!

I absolutely love this perfume! If anything is worth spending over $100 on it would be this one! I bought a sample out of curiosity since it was made by having a computer analyze the ingredients in a bottle of perfume that Marie Antoinette had. Oh my gosh did she have wonderful taste. This is an elegant, refined perfume. I can smell the spices, amber and vanilla. This blend of notes is put together so well that it is like giving your nose the kind of experience your ears get when you listen to a classical masterpiece! It is long lasting too, about 8-10 hours. I think it is best for fall and winter wear. This is on my want list. Dear Santa, ......... ;)

This fragrance is the allergorical theory proving that any given thing is not merely the some of all its parts. If one were to judge Black Jade simply from its notes, its description of being a 'floral chypre' one might be miss led down a path which wrongfully accuses Black Jade of being 'simply' anything. The tale of Marie Antoinette, a beloved companion and a scent forged in a black jade bottle holds far more charm and indeed more accuracy when considering what makes Black Jade and where it comes from. The incense sparkles upon an ethereal pool of flowers and spice, it holds magic and imparts it with grace. Simply put, Black Jade is beautiful.

this perfume is beautiful.. when i first opened it i was surprised to believe that it smelled very similar to Coco Chanel but this is more brighter and livelier..a more youthful version...first you smell a fresh citrus lemon scent mixed with cardamom..its the cardamom and the bergamont that gives it that fresh zingg to it..you can smell the velvity rose slightly on top and the amber and cinnamon brings this sweet spiciness to it that is simply amazing as it eventually takes over...this is a wonderful blend of natural notes that exilirates the scenses...what a remarkable perfume..i feel so special to have it.

Do you ever have those scents that bring about an unshakeable sense of nostalgia? A scent that you're sure you've smelt elsewhere but you can't think of where on earth you would have? That's this for me. On me, it feels like a Salvidor Dali fragrance... and I mean that as a compliment, lest it be misunderstood. A patchouli of the quirkiest variety, vibrant rose and beautiful incense. Hard to describe, but it sure is easy to love. So complex, but makes it look easy. On the surface, rose and patchouli. Inhaling deeply, gorgeous amber, sandalwood and vanilla behind a cooling galbanum and cardamom veil.

This fragrance went directly to beauty on my skin. The hit of bergamot only lasted 5-10 minutes, then it was cardamom, amber, and musk with an almost berry-like jamminess. What is most amazing is that even after three hours, it did not descend into *pure* amber and musk - the cloying golden syrup that some amber fragrances veer into after an hour or two - in Black Jade, the initial lightness remains. Sillage is moderate on me, but it lasted a full 8 hours. It's a graceful fragrance - one I imagine a lover would be entranced by when they came close for a kiss.

This has quickly become one of my favourite perfumes! I tried the sample because of the Marie Antoinette connection and immediately bought a full bottle. Black Jade is gorgeous. It’s a beautifully warm, spicy floral scent that smells unlike anything I own. The way it sinks into my skin is so enveloping and delicious. There’s a real powerful maturity to this fragrance. When I wear it I can’t help myself from repeatedly smelling my wrist! The longevity and sillage is very impressive too. I’ve already had a compliment from one of my coworkers about it.

Black Jade is pure elegance. It’s first and foremost a rose with cardamom and vanilla as the co-stars. The other notes listed in the composition appear on and off like a cast of characters in a play. It is superbly blended. The perfume is soft, while also having a nice projection and sillage. It has longevity as well. Black Jade feels timeless, not trendy or vintage. You do need to appreciate a powdery finish to enjoy this perfume though. The bottle is beautiful as well, a perfect vessel for such a special fragrance.

The opening is overwhelming and smells way too grandma-ish, even for me. However, after an hour it transforms into a soft and musky vanilla rose. It’s a work of art. However the opening is so strong I always find myself reaching for something less in-your-face.. So, I only wear this on formal occasions, or nights I wish to strut around my house being the Queen I am.

This is such a smooth blend of floral notes with just the right amount of spices to add some warmth. Rose, cinnamon and cardamom are the most prominent notes to me, but they do not overpower the other ones. Black Jade simply exudes class and refinement and it is perfect for those late winter days when you are looking forward to the first bloom.

Classy - modern! Black Jade is a fabulous creation. Dark, feminine, seductive but very tasteful, polite and never over the top. It is one of those rare fragrances, that I like just the way it is without wishing to change a note or two. Very harmonious, perfect ratio of floral, incense and spices. Patchouli makes it warm and cozy. Love it.

This fragrance is simply stunning - I would be willing to pay double what this sells for just to be able to wear this scent. If you like Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, you need to give this a try. They have almost an identical opening, but I feel like Black Jade dries down to a slightly stronger vanilla than Coco Madamoiselle.

I was so surprised with Black Jade, I thought this would smell like an old vintage mature Rose fragrance like Portrait of a Lady but fortunately it’s not. I love how beautiful this is, I think it’s perfect for any age. I love how this was inspired by Marie Antoniette’s favorite fragrance.

What a beautiful perfume. The initial blast is a sweet rose with a touch of greenery. The Amber, Tonka and a hint of citrus is present. Black Jade reminds me a little of Sisley Izia but not as sweet. For me the silage was about three hours finishing as a beautiful soft rose incense.

Black Jade is a very very special perfume. It has it's own unique personality. I think it's a masterpiece too. It's alluring and terribly feminine. I have to agree totally with the perfect review by hadassa. I can't say anything better than that. I love it.

at first this starts out all spicy, peppery roses, then after a few minutes, the incense, tonka and amber come forth, making this scent even more gorgeous and intoxicating. it's like flowers and incense mingling in the air on a warm day.

Black Jade makes me feel: sexy, mysterious, powerful, and so very French. Absolutely stunning and love at first sight. Must own a full bottle for the nights for any season of the year. Genius fragrance and totally unisex imo.

Black jade to me smells like what French Beauty and skincare store smells like. I get the fresh bergamot mixed in with florals and spices. To me it’s almost this floral herbal spa like scent and I’m digging it!

Just as Elindio stated, its a spicy floral amber scent. This would be beautiful to wear during the Fall/Winter season especially around Halloween. Something about this scent is giving beautiful witchy vibes.

a spicy, slightly floral amber is just a softer copy of ambre 114 HDP the same quality of ingredients on all incense is identical to that used in ambre 114. it leans towards the masculine for me I love it

This is stunning!!! Tried it because of the Marie Antoinette connection but was shocked at how much I loved this. It's light but so well-blended. Just all around so pleasant. Need a full-size bottle.

This reminds me of something from my childhood but I'm not quite sure what. This is definitely a little old school but it's quite cozy and wearable. I don't usually like pachouli but it's soft here.

This is the Goldilocks of the modern rose chypre genre. Superior in every way. Luxe in it's smooth delivery. Excellent.

Queen Maria Antoinette wore this perfume. Apparently. According to Vanity Fair, when Gilles Thevenin bought the historic, all-but-defunct perfume house of Lubin He found a formula for the last perfume she ever wore. It is said she even wore The scent in the Bastille before her execution . This scent was, more or less, re-created and we have it here today as Black Jade. So, I was expecting some thing rococo. I was expecting something incredibly floral, incredibly jasmine, rose, freesia and incredibly powdery. But that did-not-happen. Black Jade smells, to me, almost exactly like Lagerfeld classic by Karl Lagerfeld. As soon as I placed it on my arm I was immediately taken back to a sample bottle a babysitter gave to me when I was very young. A very light vanillic spicy and very unisex men’s cologne. It has many notes in common with Lagerfeld classic. Most notes in fact, but Lagerfeld‘s tobacco is replaced by incense. Hours later it retained the fragrance. It became a bit lighter and more vanilla, A very very pleasant skin scent that would definitely work for someone, but not me. I like perfume that sings :: in a coloratura soprano:: “A laaaady is present” or really “a naughty sexy classy laaady is present”. I like Westwoods Boudoir, Guerlain L'Heure Bleue and Etat Libre dOrange Putain Des Palaces! This is not it! But I do like it. I would say it is unisex, perhaps it would be more correct to say it is asexual. There is something deeply pleasant and comforting about it with just a touch of mystery mixed into a sweet warm embrace. There is no hectic sexuality about it, but something cozy and safe and even kind. It commands gentle respect and sweetness. I’d like to think it gave Marie Antoinette some comfort, if possible, in her last days.

It didn't take long for me to fall head over heels in love with Black Jade. This fragrance to my nose is a complex rose chypre, with an array of delicious spices, amber, incense and patchouli. If you enjoy fragrances like Dior's Midnight Poison, YSL's Opium for Men, Amouage Jubilation for Women and Bond No.9's West Side, you'll more than likely adore Lubin's Black Jade. It's quite a rich, heady scent, one that boasts a lot of sexual prowess. I most enjoy wearing Black Jade on a cold Autumn day. The cooler weather really brings out this fragrance's complexity. Every time I sniff my wrist, I discover another dominant note, another fascinating accord. The rose note in Black Jade is rather dry and tart-like, a little like potpourri. Cinnamon, cardamom and vanilla adds a touch of gourmand sweetness, before the patchouli and incense finishes it off with a masculine, earthy vibe. It's a fragrance that would appeal to both men and women alike. I have been known to recommend this fragrance to men. Black Jade is also confident and bold, not a scent for the shy. The sillage can pack quite a punch. As much as I would like to believe that this is what Marie Antoinette wore back in the 1700's, I'm not so convinced. I picture her in a powdery floral, not a heavy-hitting, spicy rose chypre. Speculation aside, Black Jade is a fragrance well-worth discovering.

I really wanted to like Black Jade, but other than a prettiness and an appealing piquancy in opening notes, I can't find much to get excited about. I can see why people could find it sexy - it reminds me of fresh sweat and it has a sort of fresh fizz to it. It might grow on me.. Descriptions of it made me really want to try it, then I also read some intriguing online controversy about the marketing story behind the perfume - about Marie Antoinette etc, but then when I tried it I was a bit - 'meh'. The opening is promising - green, tingly and intriguing, but the further it settled into dry down the more I felt it just smells like the dry down of an indifferent perfume. In fact what it reminded me of was the general scent of a box of samples I have. I have a few boxes of samples - one for favourites and two others for less favourites - this is like the general scent of the least favourite box. I get a lot of tonka, which I like - nicely rounded, comforting etc, it plays nicely with cardamom and the slight tingle of cinnamon, but other than that it just doesn't have the intrigue I was expecting. Edit: a male friend absolutely loved it! In comparison to my other favourites this one stood out for him and, he said, made him feel 'excited' !

A classic rose and patchouli fragrance with a hint of citrus and spices. Black Jade smells neither modern, nor vintage, just timeless. According to the brand's website it's an recipe from pre-revolution France, rediscovered in 2011, so that makes sense. It's a very well-blended floriental that I would describe as kind of dark, but clean. Compared to other patchy roses it's neither heavy, nor sharp or sparkling, it's just very smooth. I would never have guessed that cardamom would be such a highly voted note for this, to me it's mainly a deep red rose and the spices are more of a subtle accent. I can imagine how this could hit just the right spot for someone, and it would make a good signature as it's very versatile and easy to wear. But while I can appreciate this fragrance, it just doesn't move me in any way. It's not a boring scent, but maybe a bit too middle-of-the-road for me and not quite my style. With all the other glowing reviews I'd still recommend to try it, and I can hardly imagine why anyone would really hate it.

I need to find a sample of this one and give it a go just looking at it's note,a perfume with dominant cardamom and incense seemed to be very risky for me but when I tried it, it was a gorgeous rose-patchouli combo with just the right amount of spices,smoke and sweet notes It's not a very dark,too heavy in spice and smoke rose scent,it's not light and bright either.it has a great balance of being mysterious,sensual,soft and feminine.this was my first test and I liked it(I like it's drydown more than the opening part)but I need to LOVE a more than 100$ perfume in order to consider buying it and I'm not sure about being in love yet,so I have to find a sample or decant for furthur testings to be able to decide

A lovely, cozy scent. Worth noting, though, is that it smells almost identical to the much cheaper Queen of Hearts by Queen Latifah. Black Jade has rose, but the dry down is the same. I’ll be happy to use my sample. I’m not much of a rose lover, but it’s subtle in this, and charming. The scent overall has that lovely cinnamon scent that feels like Christmas, but it never smells like a candle or anything like that. Certainly more of a fall/winter scent. Noticeably good quality, good longevity and sillage. It’s reasonably priced for a niche scent too, so if Queen of Hearts wasn’t *quite* right for you, this is a similar option to consider.

Black Jade is a spicy, feminine, contained rose, and it is said that it was the favorite fragrance of Marie Antoinette (personally I do not believe it, rather I think it is a marketing tactic). What I like most is the entrance, fresh and spicy: here the bergamot and the smoked touch of the cardamom with the heat provided by the cinnamon make a really impressive and attractive cold-hot game, the rose and the sweet drying of balms, incense , patchouli and vanilla makes Black Jade a very good mix, well made, wearable, intimate, because although it has a good duration, it projects very soft (for me, a negative detail). Rating: 7.5

This isn't really a review, but a statement: Black Jade may very well be the most beautiful, box-ticking, satisfying fragrance I've ever smelled. There's not one facet-from opening notes to drydown-that disappoints. This scent is as close to perfect (for me, anyway) as I'll probably ever find. I ordered a sample on a whim, based on Fragranticans' reviews; I'm hoarding what's left for "aromatherapy" purposes. I think I *need* a bottle of this. Hell must be freezing over... ETA: I've got a larger spray sample on order now, for further testing. This may end up being FBW. OMG...

The opening is dominated by cinnamon and fresh notes for a sharp and sparkling start. The flowers are joining and adding some depth; rose and fresh jasmine blend well with the newly added cardamom. Later it gets even more delicious with sweet notes of tonka and vanilla. It gets a bit powdery, but still very enjoyable. The middle part with cinnamon, rose and sandalwood reminds me of the drydown of Egoiste. Scent: 7/10 Longevity: 8/10 Projection: 6/10

First blast of sweet peppery soft incense lifted by citrus. After a minute an almost fruity rose and sandalwood starts to present. Weirdly, I get the cardamom on the drydown and not the top... it's definitely there though, cool and astringent. Overall a very elegant and sweetly woody/floral aromatic scent, not that strong on projection though. Unisex and best for cool weather. 6+ hours later: Disappointingly short.. I don't think it made to 4 hours.

I bought a sample because i heard that Marie Antoinette wore it during her lifetime. I had my mom and dad smell it and they mentioned that it smelled old, and I have to agree. I love it though, it reminds me of a very classy woman who wears a mink coat. Even though it smells old it's not an unbearable or overpowering type of old smell that smells like a bathroom in the heat (like Chanel No.5).

Okay, who else bought this for the Marie Antoinette angle? However true or not true that story may be, Black Jade is fantastic. It opens with cool spices and citrus, but quickly blooms into an animalic rose and jasmine bouquet: Think Joy, only drier, spicier, and woodsier. I can't wait to spray this on my scarf when Autumn finally comes around!

It’s a little dry, a little shy, but it’s nice. A vintage, somewhat complex rose. However, as a rose fragrance enthusiast I have to say that I’ve smelled perfumes like this one a million times before. Nihil novi sub sole. Full bottle worthy only if you don't have anything similar in your collection.

Thick, dense, vintage rose with a ton of gourmand spices. Powder comes out on my skin, while my husband's amplifies patchouli and wears more unisex. Projection is delicate after 2 hrs. Has enough character to easily become someone's signature. 8/10
