Vetiris

The iris is very intense here, if you are not a fan of it, it is not going to comfort you to wear this. However, even as someone who certainly hasn't fawned over the note before, I do think it mellows out quickly enough so that it doesn't pierce your nostrils entirely. In it's place follows a cool toned vetiver, woody notes, nutmeg and some other beautifully blended things. It ends up being really pleasant and inoffensive. It's a very reasonable summer frag. 7/10

A masculine citrus opening - lime, bergamot, and petitgrain. However, it's not a strident citrus. Clary sage, dry vetiver, and cypress follow, but, at this point, it becomes somewhat weak. I am not getting much spice, just dry earthiness. The gentle spiciness enters in the drydown, coupled with an earthy iris which brightens it and elevates it to a more feminine drydown. This powdery iris is a bright and crisp version. At the end, it is a bit reminiscent of toothpaste. Just ok.

I tried this on a sweltering hot day in Rome and it gave me some cool relief. It has the invigorating freshness of 4711, but more finely blended and with an icier hit, surely boosted by a dose of ISO-E. The primary notes for me once the initial blast of citrus dies down are neroli, vetiver and cypress, with iris showing up in the latter stages giving it a slightly starchy texture. It's a pleasant, fresh, masculine smell with a youthful appeal. However it is also rather fleeting, which is to be expected from a citrus scent I suppose, but considering the €110 price tag and the fact it only comes in 100ml, you'd want to really love it to buy it. Personally I don't find it unique enough compared to other A-listed citrus/vetiver fragrances, but you could blind buy this as a gift for any guy and he would dnjoy wearing it.
