Luciano Soprani Uomo

there are two versions of this fragrance: one from the 80's with an exagonal bottle(reformulated later) and another from the early 00 with the great roberto baggio on the cover which is totally another scent, not just a reformulation. im going to review the old bottle. first version: exagonal bottle, black cap, darker juice. this is a fantastic fougere from the 80's, very stylish but more easygoing compared to others from that period. opens with bergamot but fades away quickly, the composition is based on a perfect blend of basil, fir, caraway, herbs, soft leather and a beautiful oakmoss wich gaves a very nice creamy taste. it's similar to ysl jazz, both are elegant with a touch of humor. i slightely prefer the soprani one because the execution is on the next level, im super happy to have it! maybe it's not the most versatile scent because it smells a bit "dated" so fits better on people over 35, in colder months for sure. performance is good in longevity and projection, not pushy but with an intelligent sillage. if u appreciate the old-school fougeres like ysl jazz, givenchy xeryous or drakkar noir you will love this edt! reformulated version: exagonal bottle, silver cap, lighter juice. it's the same fragrance but with less oakmoss, fresher and lighter. still a great fragrance, the old formula is better but this is very good, the reformulated juice is more versatile and easy to wear. newer version: long bottle, roberto baggio on the cover. this is a newer version of soprani uomo but i think this is discontinued too(not sure). totally another fragrance, so it has nothing in common to the original. i tried few times in stores, a very good fresh edt. i want it also for roberto baggio, my favourite italian player of all time. the votes are based on the original formula: scent-9 long-7,5 sillage-7 versatility-7 uniqueness-8,5 presentation-7 back up bottle? more yes than no compliment factor- 6,5 my vote-VIntage:8,5. This might be the best classic barbershop fougere ever made. But be aware, that multiple reformulations occurred over time, and the scent has changed its overall character. ORIGINAL formulation: Starts spicy, mainly caraway and basil, made round by fir, slowly caraway steps back a bit so fir gets prominent, than finally Oakmoss, leather and labdanum comes in the drydown. Patchouli is strongly present in every stages and defines the character of the scent. The composition is very creamy, mild, pleasant, manly and despite it is definitely barbershop, somehow manages to be sophisticated, and elegant. Although it is dominated by patchouli, it feels deep and rich in every phase. George Clooney comes to mind. Best in winter. The best barbershop scent ever. LATEST formulation: Lost the depth, richness, complexity, and the creamy character. It is rather dry, and straight, but still a very pleasant manly scent. Most of the notes are still there, but presented a different way. Caraway is noticable, but not prominent, fir neither. Patchouli remained the main accord, while oakmoss disappeared. According to the ingredients list on the box, it was replaced with tree moss, I think this substitution caused a change in overall fragrance character. It smells more like a field in the countryside with straw blocks in late spring sunshine. Not Clooney at all . More like an English country gentlemen dressed in tweed. Still a great frag for spring and fall.

Very happy I blind bought this. Quite a beauty. I can’t see anyone not liking this. It’s polite and well behaved. It’s fresh and clean, slightly floral, and just unique enough to warrant a purchase. The bergamot and basil stand out to me the most. To my nose it has a clean papery quality. A great starter fragrance for a collection. It will blend into a crowd and be enjoyed by others. If you are buying the one pictured here with the tall frosted glass and the silver domed atomizer, hoping it smells like Bowling Green, it doesn’t. I’m guessing that was the vintage one? Either way this one gets slept on and it deserves more play in public. I probably wouldn’t drop more than 40 bucks on it personally, but I’ll enjoy it on warmer days and it performs really well on skin and lasts a long time. Appropriate for any age really. Get this instead of the crap they are peddling at the mall right now.

My friend worked for Nordstrom years ago and gave me a tester bottle with about 20% remaining. He also gave me a few others like AdG, Polo blue and more. This was my favorite scent for wearing to class in college. Soooo fresh, just uplifting and energizing. A very nice way to start the morning. It's been years since then so I can't give the most detailed review. I just remember out of 8 fragrances from Nordstrom that he gave me, this was my favorite one and I was sad when I ran out... even though I didn't buy more because I wasn't as into it back then. I almost considered buying it again, however the reason I won't is because it would probably just bring me back to those old memories and nostalgia as opposed to creating new memories/experiences with scents that are new to me. Either way, at least 7.5/10 Just super fresh

I found this fragrance after I read the reviews here. I blind buy it and I'm very happy with my purchase. It's almost the same as Issey Miyake - L'eau d'Issey for man, just it's little bit more "green". Lasting power is great and projection is moderate to good which is quite satisfying for a citrus fragrance. Does anyone else find the similarity with Issey's L'eau? I just can't find which model I have: 1997 issue or 2003 issue. Bottle is the same as advertised here.
