Piège de Lulu Castagnette

I love this perfume, it's juicy and sophisticated. It's unique and exciting to wear. Moderate sillage and longevity. My only complaint is that my bottle is not nearly as cute as the one pictured. It's a bottle with a plastic shrink-wrapped design and a plain brushed gold lid, and it doesn't have the branded collar or the pull-ring on the cap. Recommend to any fruitchouli lover. p.s. Closest thing to Cacharel Liberté that I've found (been searching for a dupe.)

I can't stop smelling my wrist - this is so unique! For me the citrus lasts only an instant and then it's hours of tart cherry, nutty almond, vanilla, and patchouli. I know it's touted to have oakmoss so technically should be a chypre, but too my nose this is an underrated and delicious autumnal gourmand for a ridiculously low price tag. The concoction has an almost boozy quality - the cherry and almond are strong but the patchouli keeps them from getting too candy-like. It's more incense than sugar-sweet. I can see why the boring "fruit floral" crowd don't get it, but this is a work of art.

Oh my, this is a huge scrubber for me. It has a sweet-bitter-sour thing going on that is not unreminiscent of vomit, and really I rarely say that! Men trap? More like a men repellant...

I ordered Piege bc it was a cheapie formulated by Delphine Jelk, a Guerlain perfumer. On paper, and at first spritz, it's a chypre banger...the citrus is bitter, the oakmoss and patch are loud, and the ground cherry (which is supposed to be kind of tropical) and almond are whispers. I find it retro and reminiscent of all the fragrances I was too young and unsophisticated to enjoy on so many of the people I loved back in the 80s. Now in my 40s, I can appreciate the chypre backbone and the modern twist the other, novel, notes provide. It's brighter and more youthful. I have always been on the fence about chypres, tho, even the most well-done, so I'll update after I work up the nerve to wear this one, to see if Piege has changed my mind about them. I rather doubt it will, but for the price, its worth the experiment.

Got this for really cheap and it smells exactly like potpourri in a good way! Bottle is cute too!
