Thank you for the lovely sample, Lurk. RSW 005 opens with big, bold, true to life red roses, complete with leaves and stems. The composition here is simple and quite lovely, like a nicely balanced blend of three high-quality essential oils, making this one of my favorites from the line. The particular concentration and type of sandalwood used, creates a beautiful frame for the rose. A trace of lemon trails along with the sandalwood in the dry down. Sillage is moderate, and longevity is poor because the ingredients are all natural. I always find myself disappointed when it has all but disappeared in under two hours. It feels completely unisex to me, because it is an earthy rose, smoothed by the sandalwood, and freshened by the lemon. RSW 005 reminds me of Jo Malone's Red Roses + sandalwood, resulting in a more delicate fragrance overall. I don't usually wear roses, but find myself repeatedly reaching for this one. It's just that fresh and beautiful. It's a welcome alternative to all those "flawless" CGI rose/citrus/sandalwood compositions more widely available. Hurray for roses without musky security blankets! Though it doesn't live forever, this lush red bouquet is the real deal for the duration of its short life.

LET'S GET NATURAL SHALL WE? The petal, the leaflet, the stem, the thorn and even the side growth of a rose are seemingly inside this bottle. This is what I would call 4K high definition fragrance. Teeming with authenticity is a powdery sandalwood nestled against the citruses. With all its rose and woody glory, I'm not sure if I would label this an oriental fragrance. This is more weekend at Nana's than it is Prince of Persia. This is how I would want my pillow case to smell. Just a healthy vibe of optimism in the air unlike some true to life oriental fragrances that often display its darkened side. Personally, I like my rose a little fried with a Turkish side. Suitable for women in that quinquagenarian age range. If you reside below the Mason Dixon line, buy this!
