Alina

I like it a lot. I don't really get some of the previous reviews, to my nose it is very much a Lush perfume (and I must admit I am partial to them). Accepted, it is not AS quirky as The Smell of Weather Turning or Tank Battle, or even my beloved Dirty, but hey, not all Lush fumes go down that road, and that is fine with me. My winter favourite is Lord of Misrule, and yes, definitely there is the sweetness and the patch in Alina, too, and I really welcome these memories of winter in a perfume that can be worn in any weather, even in the heat of summer. I find Alina rather complex, it meanders from the fruity and weird opening, which is not my fave part, but nevertheless it is always intriguing me like a person's face who you cannot quite figure out and every time you meet them you discover their face again. It goes on rather sweet and peppery/fruity on my skin for quite a while with whiffs of Lush's signature jasmine winking from time to time. My favourite part is the drydown a dry, powdery (or rather pleasantly dusty) orris, dry vanilla and a just the right amount of patch to make it pleasantly earthy, cooled by the orris root. Beautiful.

Just bought a 100ml bottle as it was on 50% off sale in my local Lush store. I tend to go for more smoky and dark fragrances (usually I wear "Lord of Misrule" or "Vegan Leather Jacket" which I am obsessed with) but this one took me by a surprise. Yes, it is floral and probably the lightest in my perfume collection but it's so creamy. It's like a pleasantly smelling warm blanket you just wanna keep close to you, there's this gorgeous note of jasmine which I absolutely adore accompanied by a sweet, almost sticky amber note. I don't really get the pepper notes on my skin but it's like poured warm honey. It reminds me a lot of "Amber Molecule" by The Perfumer's Story by Azzi. Soft but yet dark somewhere in the middle. Delicious and almost innocent but spiced up in a sexy way. I'd say it' a perfume you will smell while getting closer to the person who's wearing it. There's really something fascinating in it. Two sprays are enough it can be quite strong if you will over do it.

First of all, Alina has a white label, which means it is a permanent edition to the line up. Limited editions are black label, so those of us who love it, here in the U.S. don't have to worry about losing it. Not sure about other countries. Alina is a very complex and beautiful perfume. floral with a touch of spice at the opening, a strong orris heart and a woody, spicy drydown. From start to finish, it's really unique and lovely. It lasts nicely and smells different on everyone who wears it. So, you don't have to worry about smelling like the next girl you walk by. Nicely priced for what you get. Definitely worth trying. So far, I don't think it comes in a solid or 10 ml, but I'm sure it will get there. Can't wait until they make a lotion or shower get/soap to go with it.

Sampled it the other day. The opening was kinda "meh" but the dry down was ✨magic✨. Smooth and creamy. The patchouli definitely reminds Lord of Misrule, but without turning bad on my skin. It lasts like crazy, I attended a lecture afterwards and I couldn't stop smelling and enjoying it. I will sample it again for sure, but it's in my wishlist. I love Lush perfumes but not all of them sit well on me. This does. Edit after the purchase: It is definately a unique scent. I sampled it several times before buying it, just to be sure. Weirldly enough it gets me compliments every time I wear it. It creates a comforting clean yet spicy bubble around me, that I really enjoy, and people around me seem to agree with that.

I bought the Alina solid first because of the price point and I didn't want to commit to a proper bottle because while I liked smelling it at the store, I wasn't completely sold on it yet. I really ended up liking the scent – to me the smell reminds me of Lush bath bombs when they're being tested at the store for a demo, which I like. The solid doesn't perform very well in terms of longevity and projection though, so I ended up just buying the 30ml bottle. It is much better performance-wise. It's a little soapy, spiced and citrusy at first, but the dry down on me is a bit more floral, waxy and almost animalic. I enjoy that journey of wearing Alina.

Incredible. I am writing my first review because I love it so much. I tested it on paper at the Lush store and thought it was a skanky indolic bomb and then on the wrist became somewhat medicinal. I picked up something else and left. As I was walking back to my car, this carnal soft and spicy scent struck me in my tracks and I dashed back to the store to buy a bottle. Give it time to bloom on you! It reminds me of a sweeter Babycat. It feels like a hug from the most fabulous person you've ever met. It smells like a powerful white floral and soft vanilla floating on a bed of warm spice, with the pepper and smoky patchouli to keep it grounded.

How lovely! Alina, the name sounds as sweet as the parfum itself. Sweet, flowery (not too much), unique as i have never smell anything like it before. My skin tend to eat parfum, Alina is a blessing for me. Strong projection and longevity is great, especially on (dark- it will stain, due to highly oil concentration) clothing. The solid parfum didn't stay long but great base under the spray. Happy with the compliment i got at work. The cap & bottle feels cheap and vulnerable. The bottle is simple (thin glass) but i care more for the juice. I love Alina.

When I sniffed Alina at the store, my first thought was that this was gonna be an incredibly polarizing perfume! Walked around the mall and ended up liking the dry down so much that I bought a small bottle. Alina is a daring scent that has duality and shares some loose resemblance of a Francesca Bianchi' creation. It is pungent, woody, incensy, ambery but not overly dense. It has this effervescent balance (aldehyde?) to the otherwise complex composition, like walking through an ancient temple on a foggy morning, mysterious, purifying, and soothing.

I've loved this from when it was first released. It can be a bit heavy at times, so go easy on the trigger if you have allergies/asthma/migraines. It develops differently each time I wear it, but it's beautiful every time. Wearing now in winter, it's stunning! I'm so glad I got my 30ml & 100ml on eBay at bargain price very early on! I will definitely repurchase when they're gone, but that will take a while! A couple of sprays are enough. Best to top up later so as to not over do it all at once. Thank you Lush for this beautiful masterpiece! 🙏🏻🥰

One thing about me, if it has pink pepper? i own it. This is complex, sweet, sexy, and very spicy. I would genuinely consider this a “self scent”. i.e, me if I were a perfume. The amber is more forward in the spray vs. the solid (which I own both in), and I love it for that. I know it says it's more forward in bergamot, but I truly don’t think that as much, for me, that orris rages way harder. paired with a skin scent to open this up, and genuinely, I feel like this is something that could last you all day.

Sooo. I feel like i’m the only one that LOVES this? ive sprayed it on myself when passing lush twice now. Usually i only spray on blotters (especially with more “out there” scents like lush ones!) but the saleswoman recommend i spray on skin before judging. I ended up loving it and i’m going back tomorrow to buy a small bottle. I do get whats being said about it being polarizing though, my mother liked it surface level but despises patchouli, which is very prominent upon drydrown.

Bought this when it was first released and I loved it! Smells cozy and clean to me. Although the pink pepper note can be overpowering initially. I will say it can be a heavy scent, like most lush perfumes are. I have gotten a headache from wearing this a couple of times from wearing it so I'm put off from it now. I prefer the solid version now because it has a stronger vanilla note in my opinion.

This is what I was hoping Chanel Gabrielle was going to smell like. Cozy and soapy, modern, but also vintage. I smell aldehydes in this. It’s perfume-y, but also natural. Give this some time to sit on the skin. It truly shines as it develops.

Absolutely beautiful and long lasting. It smells just like the Lush dna/shop. Fruity and peppery at first, then vanilla patchouli woody drydown. A polarizing scent for sure but I absolutely love it. It’s very unique

After a while it smells exactly like the lush store to me, and that was what made me buy it after trying a few times. Not a fan of the initial notes, but the drydown is all worth it.

I see why some users have said this smell reminds them of the general Lush shop smell. It does! My colleague literally said yesterday: "I l like your perfume... It smells like the Lush store!" I was put off by that a little to start with, but don't mind now. Initially I could smell patchouli, clove, something powdery and something childish when wearing this perfume. Now it smells mostly unisex herby to my nose, and I think I can smell orris and honey. My partner said it smelled like an oldfashioned powdery perfume (in a good way). I probably wouldn't get this again but it's not bad for an everyday perfume.

Smells sunny, happy and a bit like a well maintained Lush store, somehow. Not too sweet vanilla, slightly spicy, some soft and tamed florals in the background. I like it. I don't get the negative comments at all. It has the typical Lush DNA as a base though, so if you don't like it in general, you probably won't like Alina. When it comes to Lush fragrances this is a tamed one and crowd friendly. I still think this is a great release and good quality for the price, as usual. Long lasting and smells strong for a couple of hours. On my to-buy list.

Tangy fruity gummy sweetness on top of ambery powdery earthy base. As a child, this is what I had imagined the club in save the last dance would smell like - everyone’s perfume is mixed up in the stuffy air at an underground dance club.

Smells like walking around the bath bomb display at LUSH. You get whiffs of sweetness, followed by earthiness, and powdery notes. It's unique. There is a woody aspect with a fruity twist.

Unusual. Smacks you in the face with pink pepper, and quickly evolves into syrupy-sweet, fizzy, with that mineral bath bomb smell MONSTER that is Lush's signature 'cloud', mixed with the faintest whisp of old rose potpourri. The patchouli is definitely there as well, giving it that typical hippie shop smell. It reminds me weirdly of Joop Homme in a flamboyant, sweet and juicy but not overtly feminine way. Probably the syrupy patchouli. There is something quite musty there too, like a faint geosmin/wet dog smell. It could be the cumin. This note dulls the whole composition for me. It makes the sweet notes feel cloying and overripe. HOWEVER, it is 30°c where I live right now, so perhaps temperatures may play a role here. It is quite interesting and original. Quite masculine in a way. Once it dries down, it leaves behind quite a sweet, soapy incense smell. I'll put it away and let it macerate. Maybe it will smell more 'in it's element' in the cooler weather... Or maybe my dad would wear it...?

Very granola, very fresh, very green, very peppery, very farmers market, very hipster... there is something cool about it, but the scent doesn’t quite land for me, this spicy, grass cutting smell, that I hoped would imitate this one green Gucci perfume that literally smelled like grass... but didn’t really... overall Shade remains my favourite Lush scent.

yeah this smelled like a hot mess. Recently I can’t tell if it’s lush’s perfume base that makes it smell so off or if it’s other ingredients, new romantics was gross too.

This fragrance is ruined by a B.O. cuminy note. A bit soapy aldehydic mixed with amber otherwise.

As much as I love LUSH, I entirely agree with the review below. Alina is obviously a marmite perfume as some people really like it but to me, it smelt like a raw green pepper bath bomb. Not good! Lush have so many AMAZING perfumes.... Lust, Lord of Misrule, Love, Karma, Shade, Keep it Fluffy etc, but their recent perfumes have been pretty unwearable and very harsh, apart from the limited edition ones like creamy candy and supermilk. I really don’t understand the decision to have very challenging and polarising perfumes as seasonal specials in store or added to the permanent collection, while there are very popular scents in demand that nobody can get hold of, to the point where eBay sellers are making huge profits because they were released in limited batches and sold out within days? Seems like such a strange business model! Anyway, if you’ve got all the classic Lush perfumes and want something new and interesting, maybe go and try ex-LUSH perfumer Simon Constantine’s ånd perfumes. Frånk, påtch, måd and bårk all have that old lush feel and Får is the best gourmand I’ve smelt in the last few years (it doesn’t smell like aroma chemicals, hurrah!). I bought the sample set and it was a joy to test them out!

Alina is SO like Kenzo's Jungle L'Elephant - If you like that, great. I thought I would like Alina based on the notes but it is not warm or spicy at all. Like Jungle, it has that sweet, rotting jungle fruits (like a mango, quava smell) on top of acrid grass and cream. In my personal opinion - retch-inducingly horrible. I cannot imagine how anyone could like this. It was oppressive to be in a car with and i rushed to scrub it off as soon as I got home.

So this is what they'll release, something nobody has been asking for, yet they'll be taking other perfumes like Creamy Candy away, haven't even gotten to try it and being resold for 100x more on Mercari, eBay, etc. Okay. Bold to name a perfume after yourself, ironic for it to be so mehbleh.

Tried this. Not good. The marketing says it was created by mixing three different perfumes from “different generations of women”. Unfortunately, it smells like it. A complete mess. Shockingly bad. Like someone has mixed three different meals together and then served it up like it’s a good thing. I love many Lush products but they haven’t had a good perfume launch in years now. I also find the uniform bottles and labels to be quite dull. I think they need some help differentiating the range more. No leather fragrances, no cinnamon, no tobacco etc etc, no real classics beyond Karma, barely any good masculine fragrances to speak of, but some really great fragrances that all feel a bit unfinished, a bit rough-hewn, lacking some sophisticated touches to round them off. Fine, if the prices were what they once were, but the prices have become quite high-end. Strange, because many of the products smell fantastic. It’s like they have a style that they stick to for perfume and they won’t move from it, but it will limit their sales and many people will automatically assume that they “don’t like Lush perfumes” even if they like everything else. Anyway. This one is the worst yet. I can’t believe they discontinued the amazing and evocative ‘smell of weather turning’ for this awful cacophony of competing notes that is Alina.

This perfume is like a journey through time. The first spray transported me to the 1980s hair salon where I used to accompany my mother. The unmistakable blend of hairspray and cigarettes evokes an atmosphere of times gone by, full of charm and mystery. The first impact is of hairspray, strong and pungent, with its chemical yet sweet, almost metallic scent, filling the room with a touch of artificiality, yet at the same time, elegance and care. It's the scent of perfectly coiffed hair, of impeccable clothes, of an era that peaked with the desire to always appear "perfect" and tidy. In the background, another element makes the atmosphere even more charged: cigarette smoke, thick and pungent, which mixes with the rest with an almost oppressive presence. It's not the smell of fresh smoke, but rather that of slowly burned cigarettes, of a vapor that envelops everything, leaving a smoky, almost acrid and bitter trail that lingers in the air like a lingering trace. Combined, these elements create an unmistakable scent that seems to penetrate the pores of the skin, permeating the air with a sense of intimacy and memory, of a beauty that's artificial yet warm and nostalgic, like an eternal summer where glamour and transgression blend into a sensorial cloud that's not easily forgotten.

I generally like Lush's more eccentric offerings - Death and Decay, Lust, and Breath of God are bold triumphs - and was exited by the polarized reviews of this one. Lush fragrances are at their best when they're uncompromising. The brand's greatest charm is that it's a mall brand that's not afraid to get a little bit weird. But Alina is less "bold" and more "confused" to my nose, a scent that seems to want to be all things to all people: a little bit girlish, a little bit sophisticated, a little bit wide-grinned crowd-pleaser, a little bit aloof "cool girl". But the results are unresolved. It's much sweeter than I expected. Imagine candied peppercorns with a dusting of cloves. Orris, one of my favorite notes, adds a nondescript powderiness. The jasmine is polite. And then there's some perfunctory vanilla, modern perfumery's most overused note. The end result is sort of "nice soap and traces of yesterday's perfume". I'm left slightly bored and slightly perplexed. Maybe it will grow on me.

I Could sit here and read these reviews all day. In fact I'm at a stage of my life where sometimes I do just that! I now have a body chemistry or skin type on which NO perfume lasts more than a couple hours. But that's OK. I just reapply, sometimes 3,4,5,6 times a day (and have terrible rashes to prove it :( But it's fine because the disappearing fragrance presents opportunity for that. I say all this because two hours before applying the solid Alina, I had sprayed 24 Fauberg which I love but even that doesn't last. I smelled my arms and wrists, and where I could not smell anything I applied the solid Alina. I have to say, wow. Perhaps I go nose blind to the perfumes but I'm still smelling a beautiful lovely nostalgic scent. I love it and hope I love the 100 ml bottle I ordered too - because as many have noted, things change - on skin, in production, (reformulations) in time, and taste. We'll see . .

Alina is in my top 3 perfumes. Guy at lush told me it smells really different on different people and it seems to be true. For me it's really beautiful peppery amber that is little bit sweet. In first 20-30 minutes I'm smelling way more citruses and floral top notes, thankfully for me (since I HATE citruses) it's still quite pleasant and not long lasting. The patchouli is also the strongest in the beggining. I don't mind it but after these 20 minutes I'm obssesed. The pepper is really noticible for me which I love. It's giving mature and confident, it's unique and for me, it's truly giving special occasion.

Bought the solid perfume of this and I love it. It opens spicy and sharp, bergamot and pink pepper and maybe some cinnamon? And as you wear it the orris begins to shine through more. It has a vegetal, earthy dirtiness that I love. Lush perfumes always seem to have a lemongrass-y and sweet "bath bomb" sort of base note to my nose, like the smell you get when you walk into the store, but I think the dirty/spicy notes in this one balance it out really well. It feels vintage and modern all at once.

Like almost all Lush fragrances, this one is anything but subtle. Punches you in the face, in fact, with spicy jasmine. She's scruffy, boho, and unapologetic. I don't get a lot of warmth, despite the notes described, but I do have the solid version so maybe it lacks that depth. Creamy, peppery, and aggressively floral; like you huffed a flower and all the pollen went up your nose. It's the kind of fragrance I could imagine wearing to Glastonbury or something; but not really anywhere else.

I don't know what happened here, I tried this last year and like Mobrien37, I thought "gross". Today whilst at Lush I decided to give it another try and see why this is in production...a couple hours later and my blotter is smelling totally yummy...sorta spicy but a little sweet and floral. Now I have to try it again on my skin..this is fascinating.

When I tested the fragrance on a paper strip, it smelled pleasant, like a bar soap, but on my skin, it came across as very masculine and strong! I can smell slightly armpit, saliva scent. Gross!!! featuring a potent spicy peppery bergamot with floral undertones. I'm curious to see if the scent will evolve if I let it sit for a while.

The first sniff until the first 10 min of this smelled like cigarettes to my nose, so this was not my cup of tea. But after some time, it developed into a sweet scent, very cozy. This test was on the stripe, I think it deserves another test on the skin.

@monkmonks, you are my people. I cant believe that only a few comment mention the aldehydes. I do not know what creates this sopay aldehyde sensation in the beginning but I thought everybody will mention how extravagant, vintage but modern Alina is

I was sooooo surprised to read the notes after smelling this! This, to me, smells so clean and soapy. Almost smells like the perfume version of Milky Bath, just very clean and fresh.

the essence of the lush store in one fragrance. a little more complex than other lush scents, most of which are pretty basic and fall flat for me.

the opening of this smells like wet moldy cigarettes on my skin. you know when an outdoor ashtray has been rained on? that’s the vibe.
