Blue Skies And Fluffy White Clouds Body Spray

I think the good people at Lush are definitely both on something and onto something. Let’s start with the marketing for this fragrance. First, I ask the same question for every other black bottle from Lush: why is this a body spray? We think light, evanescent, Victoria secret when we hear that word. Something you can throw on when you need a little freshness. This is an EDP. The only thing body spray about it is the “spray” part of the word, because this spray blasts you with enough force to kill a cockroach. Okay, maybe not, but with the ridiculous logistics of the fragrance application and the staying power + sillage, this is really more than what you are probably bargaining for. Second. Why is this called blue skies and fluffy white clouds? It is either they did this to be a little provocative, you know, tease us a little bit on purpose, or they must have been hallucinating. I don’t care. I think the association between the name and the actual fragrance plus intended vibe, no matter how mismatched they seem to be to other people, creates in itself a new bit of commentary, a new perspective. As for the aforementioned fragrance... some people below are comparing it to tiger balm, and yes. It is very tiger balm at first. It is almost juicy in its efficascent oil qualities in the opening, the juice from the kind of fruit you know would kill you. But you also get that hit of fresh-from-the-hippie-store frankincense, that unburnt sweetness whose soot pools on your burner in layers of sticky black sludge. Then there’s the patchouli, which sort of encapsulates everything and rounds it all out, taking the most jagged edges of the initial hit and smoothing them into what I can only describe as an olfactive bevel of some sort. On fabric, the tingling spiciness doesn’t really go away, but on skin, you get the same smooth patchouli that provides that deep moody character to some of the greats, like Tempo and Brutus. It is such a simple fragrance while still being delightfully weird, and it does not put people off. I sprayed liberally before a party, and everyone I met told me that I smelled really quite good. Even outdoors, a friend of mine who was around 6 meters away or so exclaimed that (thanks to a gust of wind, but also because of my overspraying) that he smelled something really nice. It’s the perfect balance of interesting and people-pleasing, I think. I would like to layer this with a musk and try and make L’Orpheline from scratch.

I adore this one. A wonderful earthy patchouli lifted by an airy, ethereal frankincense. It’s incredible value considering it performs like a perfume. Decent patchouli and incense fragrances are rarely this affordable. There’s an almost camphoraceous effect in the opening that may be a facet of the patchouli, or an unlisted note, and gives the scent a cool brightness that really awakens my senses when I spray it. I always look forward to wearing this, and I’ll often revert to it when I’m not sure what I’m in the mood for. I find it grounding, calming and meditative. I have a back up of this and pray to the fickle perfume gods that it will always be available.

A high-mass vibe that's bracing, almost camphoraceous at the very start, but it settles down over time, many many hours in fact, making it a perfect companion to a night out or to beddy-bye, and seasonless. Very enjoyable, instantly noticeable, comforting yet with lots of personality. Honestly, a love, A+.

Absolutely delighted this is available as a fragrance! I love patchouli, the earthy, woody notes... so calming and grounding. Very strong, the term 'Body Spray' doesn't do this justice. More like an eau de toilette.

Probably the only Lush spray I have that I’m not sure how to feel about. For a name like “blue skies and fluffy white clouds” I would expect the smell to be fresh and clean, maybe a bit earthy, but instead it’s very spicy and earthy. It’s not a bad smell at all, just not my style so I can’t see myself wearing it super often. I’d definitely recommend it if you want a Lush spray but aren’t into sweet or gourmand scents!!

I mean, you've smelled it before - the classic Tiger Balm, the one without the cinnamon. Smells like mint and medicine, but I quite like that here. That being said, this is actually really nice if you like proper patchouli. A minty patchouli all the way, with minimal frankincense to my nose. Lush in general does well with patch notes, so I'm not too surprised to like this. The patch in here is kinda similar to the fabled Reminiscence Patchouli one - deep, medicinal, chocolatey, medicinal - but made a bit more lightweight. The mint keeps the whole thing feeling "intentional" and "clean", without going into the pure-patchouli "dirty feet" territory. Nice one, Lush.

Very intense, like walking into a witch or hippie shop full of all sorts of natural products. It’s a vibe I like, but I’m not sure if I want to commit to a bottle, as I’m worried the scent will be too much for others in close quarters. Surprisingly, I didn't find it triggering any nausea, as is typically the case for me with strong fragrances. Update: I went back for it! Will be smelling like a green witch this autumn.

I am surprised no one here has mentioned it, yet but this is the 1977 Givenchy Gentleman, more simplistically and no citrus opening. It caught me off-guard when I smelled it yesterday. Again, it is not the same fragrance but super similar. Blues Skies is about $45 and Givenchy Gentleman is about $80. So up to you what you want.

This fragrance is gorgeous. This is the scent I associate with Lush in the 90s. It reminds me of a blend between Karma and this soap they used to have called Red Rooster, which had an orange-cinnamon scent. I will savor this one!

Man do I LLOOVVEE this fragrance. Earthy, patchouli, minty, super fresh, ultra calming, lasts for hours and hours. Really hoping they keep this one around. 💙
