Cardamom Coffee

It's what they say it is: literal cardamom and coffee. Has rose oil which contributes to that teeny bit of rosewater kinda scent, similar to when rose syrup is used in Middle Eastern desserts. It smells quite musky as well; the oud in this is pretty distinct on me. Lasts decently on skin, maybe 5hrs max BUT lasts even longer on clothing. It's a little pricey for a perfume from what is essentially a mall brand, but compared to designer and niche perfumes (which this is more in line with in terms of performance) the pricing is okay. I would prefer that this also come in a 30ml bottle instead of just the 100ml. There are plenty of fragrances with a similar vibe to this though, that kinda dark, cosy, rebellious and mysterious vibe. Cigar Rum by Strangers Parfumerie, Serge Lutens' Ecrin de Fumee... Midnight Toker by Heretic to a slightly lesser extent. They're not exactly the same as Cardamom Coffee, but I imagine someone who likes perfumes like the above would like this. Pick one based on your budget – price-wise, Cardamom Coffee sits mid range compared to these perfumes. But if you're a hardcore Lushie and truly just want to stick to Lush if you're in the market for a perfume with this vibe, this is a good option. Overall, I like the scent, I like the longevity and the sillage is pretty good. Hated having to spend what I did in one go after buying the bottle, but I imagine this will last me a while now that I have it. Well, it better anyway.

It took me a long time but I get it now. This is indeed a very beautiful spicy coffee perfume, really reminiscent of I'm Home in the dry drown. In fact, I just realized that Lush states on their website that cocoa absolute is used in this fragrance too. The similarities with I'm Home now make more sense to me (I'm Home also seems to have coffee notes). The coffee and cardamom co-exist in harmony. On my skin, they're really blended together. After a couple of minutes though, the scent turns really masculine (is it the oud? the olive leaf note? I'm not sure). Until now, that's the point where I would give up. I like a masculine edge in some of my perfumes but I rarely appreciate full-on, "traditional" masculine scents on me. I'm glad I didn't wash CC off my skin at that moment cause this masculine vibe calmed down after 1 or 2 hours to leave a softer, slighty sweet & creamy coffee to shine. At this point, CC was becoming a beautiful and comforting skin scent. I now crave its coffee notes. This is what I like about Lush's perfumery style: it's bold, raw, simple. You either think it's weird or insanely addictive. I would really like to have it. If you're an absolute sweet tooth, you could sweeten it with a vanilla or chocolate fragrance / perfume oil, or with a coffee fragrance that is too shy on the coffee notes for your liking.

I need to add a full review of this one, heck i need to do a lot of things, but staying alive and keeping on going is taking at least 98% of my time and energy But I encountered this by chance recently and it really blew me away, I don't know if all the lush scents have improved over time (as in the production of - my experience is that the actual individual perfumes in my wardrobe age well, getting better with time, such as Tramp) But this just really hit me with, I don't know, that special magic than sometimes, rarely and with declining frequency with the more scents I've tried, but just sometimes that magic happens and when it does...it is wonderful. This is stunning on its own, and I also think would layer well over anything with leather, tobacco, chocolate, coffee, dark woods, vetivers, ambers - all the good stuff! Maybe even with the right rose. So I see this as potentially very versatile. Lasting power is excellent, the smell of your scarf the next day is deliciously good, and I think it projects pretty well but not OTT. I promise I will try and get on here again more, when able. This has been a terrible year, so I wanted to share just a candle of light in the darkness, my enjoyment of this perfume.

Spicy, smooth, cozy, and comfy This is a really good representation of middle eastern coffee making especially Turkish coffee. At first stray Cardamom Coffee smells exactly like the taste of Turkish coffee made with milk, sugar, and a Cardamom after its brewed You will get a strong coffee well blended with cardamom giving it a sweet creamy or milky vibe; after 3 hours on my skin, the coffee note starts to fade into the background but is still present. the oud and olive tree notes will start to creep in mixing with the cardamom and fading coffee giving the fragrance a smell of spice and I can see why some people think this smells like incense sticks closer to the dry down. I have the liquid version instead of the balm but I don't get any rose. This fragrance has this silky feel to it. Like the silky feel of when you touch a rose pedal so maybe, that's why this fragrance comes off as creamy or milky. I have the original pre-reformulation juice. Lush took this off the market a while ago to take off an ingredient that got banned so maybe that's why there is a big discrepancy in what people smell.

There are some unkind reviews already here, and they just don't match my experience of this fragrance so I thought I'd post mine. This was an impulse buy instore because the mark-down was massive, and the initial spray interesting. I have since found it a comforting, delicious warm blanket of deep and mellow notes perfect for staying indoors wearing a squishy jumper while the weather plays on without you. The most prominent scent is the cardamom and it is gorgeously warm, exotic and had a complex depth all of its own. The coffee note is present, but perhaps not enough for those who want that as a star performer instead of a support act. This resembles a handmade fragrance more that a store-bought big label fragrance, and as a result doesn't overpower the room when it is first sprayed. It is not a shy perfume nor a show-stopper, just a big all-day-long cosy hug. It has staying power and will still be present the next time you pull on that squishy jumper.

Probably my favourite fragrance I've tried thusfar, if Lush ever stops making this I'll cry because I'm not sure if I'll be able to afford a $300 perfume bottle at this point. I think it seems very subjective whether one actually smells coffee in this, but I personally pick up on all the notes. It's delightfully complex, the dry down always brings out something delicious and wonderful. My only complaint is that I wish it lasted longer and better sillage, I sprayed this on during a 29 degree Australian Summer day and it wore off me incredibly quickly. Maybe that goes for all perfumes though lol I only began my perfume journey in Winter.

this is one of very few fragrances i can confidently call my favourites. i fell in love with this scent when i was about 15 and it's been one of my comforts ever since. i'm so upset it's discontinued and i will keep my solid perfume as long as it lasts- the scent has changed a bit with age but it's still near perfect to me. it's a gorgeous sort of powdery coffee-heavy spice-heavy natural and delicious scent. i once used it to scent all my christmas cards i was sending out. i fcking love this fragrance

(I am reviewing the liquid edition of this scent) I currently just put this on as I am craving something different from my perfume wardrobe, and so far I am really enjoying the opening, as I smell hints of vanilla(but not synthetic). This is my first Oudh, and it only takes a spray; in my opinion. I am really sad that this fragrance is being discontinued. This perfume also has subtle hints of "I'm Home" which is also a favorite of mine. I would definitely classify this scent as a gourmand.

At first spritz Lush’s cardamom coffee smells exactly like it’s name. It’s dark roasted coffee with a very strong cardamom note. It’s totally like when you brew traditional Arabic coffee called gahwa. But give it time to warm up on your skin and that’s when it really blooms and tells its story. You’ll get whiffs of Oudh mixed with olive wood and cacao. I sadly couldn’t detect the rose. A rich delicious brew to keep you warm and cozy. The perfect fall and winter scent.

This one doesn’t have much coffee to me. On my skin it smells like watery rose, lots of cardamom, and a dark chocolate brownie. All the notes smell very natural. They have rough edges, but they’re simple and delicious. It’s a more personal scent as it stays close to the skin, but the longevity is pretty good. I get about 8 hours on my skin. This is a winner for me! I love gourmands, and it’s nice to find one that’s not cloying in the heat.

she’s my perfect beautiful angel the most delectable warm spicy cardamom with a dark almost chocolatey depth....fades on my skin down to something more floral but still spicy and warm. makes me feel like i’m eating cardamom cake & sipping some hot coffee next to a crackling fire at a table with a fragrant vase of roses in the center...simple but not one-note. only gripe is that for the price point i wish she lasted longer 💔

"Inspired by a cup of coffee..." Not sure why coffee is so highly voted for here as the official breakdown doesn't include an actual coffee note. Perhaps it's the association with the naming? Either way, I get 0 coffee. I've never worn this out, just to relax at home. It is perfect for that since it's sweet, warm, and cozy. CM is pretty linear and not very complex, but I love how it smells! I would probably repurchase this.

Rich hot coffee and roasted cardamom pods at arms length for an hour, slowly fading to sweet oud and herbal rose a few inches above the skin for several more. Gorgeously unisex, but also sensual and inviting--flickering lights on a cold night, hands held in mittens, warm drinks with spice. The solid is nice, but I want a bottle to douse myself with on the holidays-- and it would work really well as a bed linen spray, too.

This is just perfect. The coffee note is super prominent and dries down to a floral, rich coffee scent after that initial blast. This lasted an age on me, and seemed to get creamier, darker and richer the longer it stayed on. This seems perfect for autumn/ winter and is cosy but still sophisticated - I'd like to buy a bottle at some point but for Lush's fragrances it's definitely at the pricier end.

I love this. Finally purchased it today. I think It's a bit overpriced actually but hey, it is what it is I guess.. This thing is nuclear so be careful with the sprayer. The Perfume Library version is also better than the original 2016 "Gorilla release" in my opinion. According to the staff at my local LUSH the newer release have notes of, Dates, palm sugar, cardamom, rose, smoky oud, and coffee.

The very best coffee fragrance out there. Smells very natural and there is just enough Oud in it to make it multi dimensional. People complaining about the price would probably pay €200 for 30ml of the same juice had it been under a wannabe niche label with gems on the bottle cap. Performance is great is all aspects. Excellent Lush Perfume Library release.

such an amazing and unique scent. smells exactly like a dessert my grandma makes— chocolate tarts in shortbread, flavored with coffee and cardamom. it’s complex, edible, and rich. love this because it’s a not so sweet gourmand. truly a special perfume. longevity is not great. but it’s worth it for how beautiful it smells.

A completely unapologetic blend of genuine cardamom and suitably bitter coffee with a deep, woody oudh in the dry down. This smells authentic and luxurious, not that kind of "honeycomb dipped in whiskey" mass entertainer, although there is little some sweet boozyness in the scent as well. Definitely one of Lush's best!

Just bought the solid of this and I'm Home (Fragrantica--please add to database!) They are amazing layered together. The coffee is of course the main note here, but the cardamom brings a sophisticated element to the fragrance. It is warm and inviting just like Lush touts on their website.

If Tumeric Latte was too sweet for you, try this. It's definitely unisex aswell; as a woman I don't find this masculine or feminine leaning so don't be put off by the unisex label

Super nice aroma of straight cardamom coffee but abit too linear and boring for me to want to add it to my collection. Prefer Lataffas qahws as it has more complexity. 4/5

A blast of coffee, and a blast of cardamom. That's it. And it's awesome.

Two things I'd like to mention before getting to the actual review. First, my review is based on the solid perfume. Secondly, neither am I a huge Lush fan - no matter if i buy their whole environmentally friendly sales pitch or not, for me the biggest problem is that I'm ultra introvert and their pushy sales associates are generally just too much for me - nor do I have anything against them. So when I passed one of their shops during super busy hours with all their sales staff plenty occupied, I stepped inside and picked up some things I've had my eye on for some time but didn't want to blind buy online. Anyway, so this one on me starts with burnt coffee grounds and sharp cardamom oil (if you ever roasted cardamom pods for chai, you know the scent) on a rather cloying sweet base. Doesn't sound too alluring? Well, I kinda like it. It's a bit of a kick to the nostrils initially, but I do find myself enjoying it. Very quickly though the coffee note vanishes and what remains is more reminiscent of masala chai. No complaints from my side. I'm not getting any other notes, but I do like it. The only thing that bums me out a bit is that it vanishes terribly fast. I find myself reapplying it every other hour. Frankly, as far as the solid version is concerned, I don't really perceive this as a proper perfume. To me it's closer to those various essential oil roll-ons you can get (as in anti-headache, focus, meditation blends and what not). If you're looking for a refined multilayered coffee fragrance, this is most likely not it. Just as another reviewer I would wear this mostly as a feel good scent at home. I like having it sitting on my desk and reapplying it once in a while. It's fun. Btw. i did find this to perform a lot better in cooler weather rather than in the heat. In European winter worn on pulse points under a warm coat is when I got most out of it as far as depth and projection go. Is it worth the price? Frankly, I can't say. Really depends on what your expectations in a fragrance are, i guess. I'm not mad I bought it. I find it fun. But personally I wouldn't repurchase it for full retail.

I've tested both Akro Awake and Kerosene Sweetly Known against Lush Cardamom Coffee on separate days. Independently, Cardamom Coffee smelled exactly like that - cardamom and coffee, but next to the sugary coffee invention of Awake and the sugary toasty bomb of Sweetly Known, Lush’s CC is much darker. The scent of rose, oud, and olive are very obvious on my skin. CC smells like the texture of the coffee sludge at the bottom of your cup when the fine particles of coffee mix with water and sugar (and a little cardamom, in this case), with a drop of Bailey's as your creamer - I definitely get a boozy nuance to this scent, which must be the rose/oud. Yet, compared to the other boozy invention, Intoxicated by Kilian, Cardamom Coffee is more rich, less refined (which makes it more welcoming IMO), and unisex leaning slightly slightly masculine (whereas Intoxicated is obviously masculine to me). CC is different from other Lush fragrances in that it smells very luxe. Also, it lasts a long while on my skin, which is interesting because I see complaints about it disappearing immediately (and my skin is one that eats perfume for breakfast). Although I own Awake and Sweetly known, and love them both, I've taken the plunge for a full bottle of CC. It's ridiculously expensive but smells like a really well done, high-end semi-gourmand with the addition of the rose, oud, and olive. I'd say on my skin, all the notes in the pyramid appear equally (50% cardamom+coffee / 50% rose+oud+olive).

This is lush trying to be modern and sophisticated and they nearly pull it off. There is something slightly off and jarring about the composition. Like it's not quite finished. It has a little bit of depth to it but not quite enough. Don't think it's worth the money. There are enjoyable elements and nothing horribly wrong with it. The message bar percup, or the cup of coffee facemask from lush both do the coffee thing in a more convincing way. Dear John from lush is a better perfume than this although this has more power. The figgy element of it is nice. The cardamom either needs a few more things added to the mix to add depth or needs to be left out. It's not a spice that has worked well with the mix of things going on here. If there were more notes they could have ended with a coffee themed Penhaligons Lothair which would have been divine. If they had ditched the cardamom and gone all in on clove or another spice it would have worked better too. Despite this I don't outright hate it. But is isn't that good compared to other fragrances and is far from the best lush mens scents (dirty and dear John come to mind as better, more full realised ideas).

I personally don’t get the realistic coffee topnote that most are getting; I find the opening while rather exciting and energising, lacking that arid, slightly-singed angularity of roasted coffee beans, as opposed to the rather syrupy unguent that greets me - it smells ready to be pulled toffee-like into glistening dark amber strands, like some sort of hippie herbal mouth-freshening candy. (Most of Lush’s perfumes definitely do give me that ‘made in a copper pot on an old hand carved bench by a bearded bohemian’ vibe, even when they do use traditionally opulent materials like jasmine: No synthetic aroma-molecules allowed! Which I guess aligns with the general Lush aesthetic of ‘homemade’) The heart of Cardamom Coffee smells faintly salubrious on skin, like its primary function is alternative medicine rather than perfume. I generally like these sticky, caramelised notes, and find them agreeable to my nose, but this would best suit a tie-dye outfit decked with lots of ethnic jewelery and accompanied by some pan flute music.

I am quite fond of Lush fragrances. They are - not - well blended artistic perfume creations BUT they are often quite interesting, fresh and non chemically smelling which I appreciate. They are more scents than perfumes, with simple ingredients and simple blending. But many of them are lovely if you take them for what they are. This is one that I am very fond of. Cardamom coffee is a real winter and late autumn dark night treat. Its like hot chocolate with cardamom with tar or soot. Its warm, cosy, comforting, edible, sweet. It gets smoother after a little while, adapting to your skin, and the tar like note vanishes into the background. If someone standing in a queue in front of me smelled like this I would instinctively move forward, lean into this cozy spiced mocha cloud and just relax. Ah, its so nice. But get a small bottle only, its easy to get bored with strong, singular notes (this is precisely most quality perfumes have a long list of ingredients and careful blending).

I’m so happy to have tried this perfume. It’s a beautiful combination of cardamom, rose, and coffee, and not a bitter coffee, and sugary sweet coffee. I wasn’t aware there was oud in this fragrance until I came here to fragrantica and saw the notes. And I was also surprised with how sweet this is. I wasn’t expecting that at all. CC starts off with a BLAST of coffee and cardamom, which is very fitting for the name but that quickly settles down to allow the rose to come through. I don’t pick up on the oud, but part of me feel like it’s being outperformed by the sweetened coffee. I also don’t think I pick up on the olive tree very much. It’s spicy, SWEET, long lasting, and very cozy. Again, with how sweet this is, I don’t think this is wearable for me. This is one of those scents that I’d love in a candle or even in a lotion or something like that. Completely unisex and has a strong silage for the first 2 hours. Edit: I sold my 1 oz!

To me this is a very warm, 'brown' scent. At first I smelt very little coffee, just the overwhelming spicy scent of the cardamom - it made me feel like a Christmas biscuit (in a good way). Then after a while I began to detect an aromatic, roasted smokiness - the coffee coming through - along with a woodiness and a gentle sweetness, a sort of smoked vanilla. It smelt like a slice of a good chocolate and coffee cake, eaten on a cold day. This is very unlike any perfume I've smelt before - it's definitely not fresh or light; instead its rich and warming, fairly unisex, and deeply autumnal (although I bought it in Spring). It's the sort of thing you'd wear while wrapped in a big woolly jumper reading an old book. After about 7 hours it's mostly faded, although i can still smell a trace of that rich sweetness if I put my nose to my wrist.

My girlfriend's favorite fragrance and therefore I, of course, love it too 😍 Beautifully smooth, dark, and well-blended fragrance with a lot of cozy cardamom and coffee, held up by a soft oud and oiled up by olive. I don't get much rose which to me is good, as I think it could easily take over this composition. Overall it smells like a warm cardamom pastry with a coffee on an autumn day. Unfortunately the coffee disappears pretty fast but the rest of the fragrance easily makes up for it. It's just the perfect fragrance for cozy cold autumn and winter days, and completely unisex. Seems like this was discontinued for a while but has now been included in the Lush black label line, the perfume library, which also means it got an increased heftier price, but I honestly think it's still worth it. Try it out!

Smells wonderful. Lots of spice, maybe some sweet amber, and a lingering coffee scent. More spice heavy than the other notes. Feels high quality, lasts decently long, but the price is laughably high. I saw this for $270 at the store in the mall. At that price, they are competing with higher priced designer, if not some niche fragrances. And it's not THAT good. Sadly, they deleted my similar review from their website, that was even more positive, because I said I wouldn't recommend it for the price alone.

Initially this smells like a beautiful, dark roast coffee on the skin. If only that hung around for longer it would be perfect! Within less than half an hour all the coffee essence is completely gone, and I’m left with a smokey, slightly cardamony, incense oud that sits fairly close to the skin. Reminds me of the smell of Camden in London - but not the cheap incense stall scent, a warmer quite appealing Camden stall smell if that makes sense.. It’s nice, but not what I was expecting from Coffee Cardamon.

I love the initial spray, exactly like cardamom coffee and feels very warm, inviting, addictive, couldn't stop smelling my wrist. However, it dries down to a very cloying rose oud, it was scratchy and in a closed space almost headache-inducing. If this was priced like other Lush perfumes, I would recommend it, but for the high price tag it's too straight forward imo, not special enough. Just make a thermos of cardamom coffee in the morning and sip it throughout the day for a better experience.

Ordered Cardamom Coffee blind it sounded really exciting and delicious, I was not disappointed. It starts with a blast of fresh black coffee and cardamom, then the coffee takes a back seat. What you are left with is a spicy Cardamom scent that lingers beautifully. I would highly recommend you sample this fragrance it is unique it reminds me of Indian chai tea the mix of sweet milk Cardamom tea and sugar all combining to make a delicious scent. I love it.

What it says on the tin really. I used to layer this with I'm Home by LUSH, though they're both good on their own. I just wanted to smell like spicy boozy hot chocolate with a shot of espresso. I might buy it again for the nostalgia for that time in my life. EDIT: I am absolutely amazed at the current price of LUSH perfumes. They are utterly delusional. I will never buy a LUSH perfume for that price, because I haven't lost my mind. Good luck to them.

what if I told you that the "lush scent" note everyone talking about is OK.. of course you have to like the brand to use it's fragrances because yes SHOCKINGLY there are some signature accords to a scent of a certain brand.. I always can tell for instance if it is a Chanel fragrance... or Rochas! Rochas has very distinctive signature notes, something bitter-powdery, something Rochas-ish in EVERY scent.. Yes its Lush-ish so what?

I have the solid perfume and it's the only fragrance I can wear when I'm sick. It has a super resinous, almost milky note from the cardamom and the dark and roasted facet from coffee. I can't feel the oud, maybe there's not much or the liquid version can show it better. Be careful with liquid fragrances from Lush, they can stain - "Lust" almost stained a yellow shirt I have.

I do not understand people who say they can not smell coffee in this. This smells literally exactly like a cup of cardamom coffee. If I read the ingredients and saw that it was just cardamom, coffee, and something sweet I would be not in the slightest bit surprised. In fact I would just think "oh...that's exactly what it smells like".

I have this in solid form. It's a cosy, intense scent. I use it during the colder months on days when I am staying indoors all day or before I go to bed and don't feel like using a more expensive perfume. I like it and it is an interesting scent but I would not repurchase - Lush scents are just not for me.

Normally I am not a big fan of gourmand perfumes, but I find this one pleasant. It gives this creamy spicy coffee scent, it smells just delicious. It's not overly sweet, which is one of the reasons why I am not into gourmand scents. It is quite wearable, especially in autumn or winter.

really nice realistic cheap gourmand. smells like a dirty chai. cardamom is sweet, warm, and inviting. coffee is not as prominent, it’s more sugary latte than a strong coffee. really good alternative to the montales & manceras. it’s a very comforting scent.

I tried that one in the solid form. Very nice scent. The coffee and the spices dominate the composition and smells a bit like a Starbucks. It's well blended and surprisingly harmonious for a Lush perfume!

I got a solid of this, and on me it's mostly sweet cardamon with no development. It's a cute scent, but i wish it wasn't such a mono note. I've checked, the spay version doesn't develop on skin either.

Coffee and cardamom are some of my favourite aromas. But as much as I like this I kind of felt like it was too heavy and lacks depth, so I layered it with What Would Love Do, and it was divine.

Cardamom Coffee unsurprisingly smells like cardamom and coffee but also like hospitality in the Gulf a cup of fragrant qahwa and out burning only for the dearest of guests.

Opens with a coffee, but it quickly goes away and cardamom starts to shine. Cardamom and burnt sugar. Yes, it smells like cardamom buns. No oud or rose.

It’s sort of like a less intense version of intoxicated by Kilian. Doesn’t last as long as I would have hoped for the price.
