Cocktail

I looooove this fragrance. It smells like excitement to me. I see that many reviewing here describe it as a mainly floral scent, but that isn't how I experience it. Cocktail smells very fizzy to me and mildly spicy with a floral background. If I had to pick one floral note that stands out, it would be lavender and a bit of ylang ylang. Ylang ylang is normally too cloying for me and lavender can be a bit bitter or soapy, but the notes of this fragrance blend together really well to create something new and I wouldn't call Cocktail a lavender scent or a ylang scent. It reminds me of the butterflies I get when I'm about to go out to something really exciting, but it isn't a giddy scent. It's almost euphoric and a little bit mysterious, but at the same time airy and energetic. It doesn't get powdery on my skin and stays fresh, which is great because everything tends to fade to powder on me. I get bored easily and normally tend to reach for a new scent every day, but Cocktail is the only fragrance that I have worn day after day and I just never tire of it. This is the perfect fragrance for me and weirdly, it makes me want to wear purple.

Cocktail was an instant love for me. It's definitely a 'spritz and walk through' fragrance as it is incredibly fizzy and even a little peppery to begin with. However, once it's had a little time to settle, it smells like a vintage boudoir. The Bergamot helps to balance out and liven up the Lavender notes, which allows Cocktail to be a cheerful, punchy retro frangrance (as opposed to one which reminds one of department store bath salts and the elderly) This fragrance always gets me noticed and infuriates passers by when they can't immediately put a brand name to the flutter by of my aroma. Definitely one of my favourite Gorilla fragrances.

Cocktail is one of my favorite perfumes. I wore it soooo much for a while. Now I wear it when I’m not sure what I want to wear, because I just always love it! It is rich, euphoric, yet grounding, romantic, indulgent...it’s a beautiful cocktail of soothing, uplifting floral beauty. It is still always very interesting to me. Piques my attention and keeps me smelling my wrists 😆 maybe makes me love myself or being alive, or being a woman 😆 it’s just beautiful

First time I smell it, I didn't like it and found it not interesting and overpowering. The second time I smell it I fell in love with the Cocktail !!! It really smells like new sneakers and also it smells really similar to essential Waitrose antibacterial spray :D I am a bit addicted to it and use it really often, but only 2 sprays otherwise it would kill me. It is definitely interesting fragrance.

(Review of the Gorilla Perfume release, bottled in 2016) If this is truly a cocktail, it's a strange cross between a mint julep and a caipirinha. Generally speaking, you better love ylang-ylang to even get close to liking this perfume. Cocktail is crammed full of natural ylang-ylang and cananga oils, which virtually smell the same but the latter is a touch sweeter and warmer. The opening is a full-on starchy banana ylang-ylang, which definitely calls to mind cachaca - the banana forward Brazilian rum in caipirinhas made directly from sugar cane juice as opposed to the deeper molasses concentrate of sugar cane in traditional rums - but there is an extremely bright freshness to it, not nearly the sugary or fruity aspects one would assume from these materials, perhaps a type of alcohol heat, that almost forces the ylang-ylang into wintergreen territories, i.e. mint julep, a cocktail of mint and bourbon. I'm leaning more in the latter direction thanks to the heavily woody base of mosses and sandalwood that makes one think of barrel aged liquor. However, quite a bit of crystal white, citrusy, and piquant jasmine and orange blossom are playing around in the heart, dragging along their quieter and more reserved friend the jammy red rose, which certainly adds a deeper fruity dimension. Alcohol heat, some type of rum or bourbon, wintergreen mint, light starchy bananas, floral citrus, fruity floral, and a big, creamy, damp earth and wood base, in summation - a bizarre but extremely fun concoction that is unlike anything I've ever smelled. I'm not sure how this compares to the original formulation from B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful or the last formulations under the Lush parent company's name. Serious Lushies that have closely followed the BNTBTBB, Gorilla, and Lush brands' perfumes for the last couple decades would have to tell you, since my experience with them is not that deep or far back. But, assuming the various formulations are very similar if not the same to my 2016 Gorilla bottle, I would say this to anyone wanting to try it: try in the store before you buy to make sure you love ylang-ylang if you don't already know for sure, and, if you do, you're going to find a truly unique ylang-ylang perfume. This is the brand's(s') entry into the tropical pool party, beach side, suntan lotion and cocktails perfume genre that is fresh, lively, and just darn good fun.

This is primarily a powdery/clean/soapy floral - the florals are ylang and jasmine. The jasmine is not indolic or animalic - it is light and powdery. The ylang is also light and soapy (not a very sweet ylang). After the florals fade - the dry down is woody/powdery. This is a pleasant floral scent. Not one of Lush’s most unique offerings but nice nonetheless.

The opening definitely reminds me of pee. Not freshly produced one, but something that has been brewing for a few days in a dirty alleyway. However, the composition quickly evolves into a complex, beautifully intricate mixture that is highly addictive. It took me a while to finish my 10ml sample but it will be missed.

It's definitely a ylang-ylang bomb on me, but I like that! I have a little box of LUSH 2 ml samples, and while I've enjoyed wearing my little bit of Cocktail, I wouldn't buy a full-size bottle.

I'm not keen on the opening of Cocktail, but after the dry down it really is beautiful. I wear this on warm summer's days and nights. A creamy, floral, warm bouquet. Worth a try!

This takes me back to the early 90s, ylang ylang is very prominent. Reminds me of the days of the late 80s Joop Femme or Bob Mackie.

Reading the reviews below I am starting to wonder whether there is something wrong with my bottle, and maybe it is. But I’ll review it as it is, and tell myself that every nose is different. This is very green, and to my nose still smells very dated. I just get the lavender and harsh oakmoss sprinkled with a good amount of cinnamon and drenched in rose water. The jasmine is screaming and begging to be saved but she is far beyond saving. I mean, the scent itself is okay, I guess, but that would be as a hand soap, not a perfume. And if someone served me a cocktail smelling like this I would politely decline.

really cannot decide how i feel about this perfume...it reminds me of something but i can't put my finger on what. smells very chalky to me and vaguely sweet, somewhere in between candy and laundry detergent...reminds me of a whole foods mom. definitely get a little brightness from the citrus but something about the way all these florals combine just doesn't really work for me. salesperson told me to try layering it with vanilla scents so i suppose i'll give that a go....

Sento un miscuglio di odori che cozzano uno contro gli altri, domina la lavanda tipo detersivo per pavimenti per la maggior parte del tempo iniziale. Questa lavanda si muove su bolle di frutta,in certi momenti sembra più pungente poi più morbido e fresco. Più che cocktail sembra un miscuglio.Ora non sto a dire i fiori che si sentono o chissà cosa altro, dico solo che addosso resta un buon odore fresco e pulito,non classificabile.

My three Lush Bottles of this went and evaporated. God alone knows how, given the fact that everything else in my perfume safe is just fine.... perhaps the perfume angels are partial to it and snuck in under cover of cool darkness? Anyway. I have none. I want some. It's all gone. I am bereft. Beside myself. Please save me. If you have some to sell, PM me with details? My review of this is for the B Never 2 Busy 2 B Beautiful version and reads thus: "Notes mentioned in the B Blurb - Ylang absolute , calanga petals, Mediterranean jasmine, rose absolute, orange flowers, oak moss, sandalwood." Heavy on the ylang there is a definite spike lavender tang in there somewhere, jasmine, this fragrance has a mysterious understated quality to it, kinda like a fighter jet, by the time you are caught in the sillage, the wearer is long gone. Something just a little bit antiseptic, though Not in a bad way though, reminds me a lot of germolene ointment, an I kinda like that. Between the ylang and sexy oak moss it shimmies in a tight dress whispering "come up and see me sometime" on the skin. The sillage is excellent, longevity excellent. It is a grown up girl's perfume to be sure. For my sixpence worth, the best way to wear it is to apply this then run through a cloud of Escentual Molecule 01. That stuff does incredible things to cocktail. Purists will scream. Don't knock it til you've tried it."

How patient are you when it comes to the evolution of a perfume? I ask because if I had followed my first instinct, which was to chalk this up as a growing experience and scrub it the hell off of my wrist, I would have missed a very interesting dry down and ultimately a nice enough perfume. It opens very promisingly with a lovely ylang-ylang and a cool jasmine, but then it turns into a bizarre chalky toothpaste mint that I've had trouble with in at least one other Lush perfume (Breath of God), and that smell lingered like the ghost of Tiger Balm past for a couple of hours. But patience is a virtue, a fact of which I need the more than occasional reminder, and Cocktail rewarded me amply. Right now it smells like a salty skin geranium. So mystery solved, I guess: per the Fragrantica notes encyclopedia (and my own tester), geranium is "characterized by its green rich and long lasting fruity-mint odor with a subtle touch of a rose". Though I still think there's something odd going on in Lush perfumes. It's probably a work-suitable perfume in the modern world...when you first arrived, people would think you'd just brushed your teeth. Later in the day they'd think you'd put on liniment after your lunchtime workout. And by quitting time, you'd smell like a flower who's been working hard all day and deserves to be taken out for a drink.

Sometimes I wonder whether I'll ever finish sniffing my way through the house of Lush. And the answer is: No! Only yesterday I read that they are about to release twelve (count 'em, 12) new "perfumes". The scare quotes are entirely intentional. With a lavender bath on the horizon, I decided to ferret through my box of Lush samples (they are kept in quarantine, all alone...) for something containing lavender. There it was in bold white on black: lavendula angustifolia, the SECOND ingredient listed (right after alcohol), on the label for Lush COCKTAIL. So, yes, lavender looms large and loud--no surprise there. But far more remarkable to my nose are the strong magic marker facsimile fumes which emerge within a couple of minutes after applying this "perfume". Wow, this smells great--but only because I love the scent of magic markers. I was always a prime candidate for toxic fume addiction--from glue, markers, aerosol cans, gasoline nozzles, or whatever--but fortunately I was protected by my limited access to such things. Here the moment of magic marker sniffing has been captured in a vial for me by Simon, as if by design, knowing as he must by now how I feel about him, the no-holds-barred mixed essential oil man. Thank you, Simon!

Cocktail as a name is rather misleading, as this fragrance is quite floral and musky, nothing like an alcoholic beverage. That aside, I really enjoy Lush Cocktail. The opening smelt a little bit like an overripe banana, however this odd scent soon disappeared making way for a delicate, feminine and smooth blend of ylang ylang, lavender and jasmine. I unfortunately cannot detect a note of orange blossom on my skin. In terms of projection, Cocktail is actually quite soft, especially for a Lush scent. I like its powdery, sweet and musky feel. It's definitely a fragrance for women. Cinnamon, geranium, oakmoss and sandalwood are evident in the base, providing a richer finish to a soft floral scent. Cocktail still smells like a Lush fragrance, however I find it a little more predictable than other fragrances from this brand. The lasting power wasn't as great as I thought it would be, fading after four hours wear. Cocktail is not my absolute favourite from Lush, but it is very pleasant. If anything, it could be an easy crowd pleaser.

Careful with this one. It takes a minute to start smelling of anything at all so I oversprayed a bit before I noticed anything. Then there were a few minutes of a rather choking oakmoss whiff. Fortunately that calmed down and I was left with something that might be called a fruity floral but also had a hint of cleanser to it. After a while It started to do a good impression of mothballs, which was my favorite part, honestly. And then the oakmoss came back. And stayed. And stayed... It's not worth it. I must say this stuff lasts forever...unfortunately.
