Dirty

...this is my signature scent and I love it. Like I'm rolling around in a filthy urban square, the woods and in an aromatic garden by the sea at the same time. Pleasantly surprised as it actually smells dirty, in a unique way but like real asphalt, green dirt and watery mud. It doesnt have any of the maximalist heavy processed perfumery compounds that makes scents overloaded and sort of fakey, it's a simple and real more organic formula but with a wonderful long sillage as if you've had a good time, dipped yourself in a barrel of dirty stuff, a mix of garden waste, ocean waste and something really filthy from an urban square like old beer, saliva and chewing gum with a gasoline taste. to others the pungent mint/gazoline/asphalt is intriguing (or repelling, which is a good test, hey I'm a scorpio) and for your own pleasure you feel the herbal/nature/koumarin/earthy scents at a closer radar. Actually it smells of a chewed gum drenched in saliva and whatnot and dropped on the asphalt with a hint of gazoline, but mixed with the most wonderful and fresh garden herbs (the mint smell is AMAZING) of mint and lavender and then rolled into a stack of freshly cut grass with dews of raindrops and after rain-smell sprinkled all over it. And then someone played with it (or you?) in the moss in the boreal woods, so it indulges and reekes of moss, iron and lovely mineral rich organic soil, biked around and left it lying half in water by the seabanks so it smells of three weeks old "badly" smelly algae and ozonic salty winds, and then some sun on it, and then sprinkled by rain again. and the Neroli (and herbs) gives it just that innocent/poetic touch and timeless feel of ethereal beauty but just a bit so it's still so real, dirty and unperfect. its distinct and unique, organic and a bit groce. That is how good it is, it smells of total freedom and adventure in a timeless life-loving way, very truly dirty with brushed knees and true immediate, in-various-ways contact with nature,

So many of Lush's perfumes are so left field and zany but at the same time SO distinctive and addictive. Karma was my first Lush staple and I would dearly love a perfume that smells like their talcum powder 'Silky Underwear' but I digress.. None of the Lush stable is a safe blind buy, you have to have a slow trot around the paddock before you want to cantor in your saddle. Personally I am very addicted to this fragrance. It is very niche and very odd but there is something so calm yet also confident and self assured in a really quirky yet natural way that makes me simultaneously think of wearing the Body Shop's Dewberry and wearing Cherry Doc Martens and eyeing up some indie kid who looks like Graham from Blur. It reminds me of the heady rush of being young in the 90s and feeling flirty and fun in an alternative type of way. I don't know why it makes me feel so giddy and carefree but it just does. The other perfumes that make me feel like this are JPG Classique, Coty's Exclamation, Cacherel's Eden and Gucci Rush. I only wore the first three when young and only found Rush and Dirty when older but they all have that confident 'Yes this is my signature perfume and yes I look cool and attractive' swagger about them that you can't help but smile and laugh along. Makes me want to join the queue at the bar for a cider and black while Smashing Pumpkins is playing overhead. p.s. layers very well with Revlon's Jean Nate.

If you don't like mint, or for some reason you're worried that people will think you've brushed your teeth today, then you're probably best to avoid this one. I know that if this had been available when I was a teenager I would have worn it constantly. It makes teenage me happy. My bottle is a couple of years old now. When it was new I found the tarragon a bit too strong and it gave the fragrance an odd doughy earthiness. I hadn't noticed this when I tested it in the shop. I don't like tarragon in general because it reminds me of my mum's "chicken 'n' slop" disgusting dinners of my childhood. Bad start but... After about 12 months the spearmint seemed to intensify significantly and now I love it. The spearmint is the strongest note and I can smell it all the way through the wearing. The (now much more demure) tarragon and other woody green herbs give it a slightly grassy earthy smell and then the sandalwood is quite prominent to me in the dry down and gives it a soapy quality. It seems to be very divisive amongst other people; I've had a few people express disgust but I've also had profuse compliments from others. The longevity is great, estimate approx 8 hours with above average sillage for approx 3 hours. I find a lot of the enjoyment with this one is in the refreshment of re-applying!!

So here's the thing about Dirty, the experience of the fragrance in my opinion varies wildly depending on whether you tried the spray or the solid perfume. The spray version really emphasizes all the bad things about this scent; the overbearing artificial chewing gum kind of mintiness, the toothpaste-y of it, and personally I found it to be too green to my liking, it was a hard pass for me. It was just not a pleasant experience at all. I didn't bother buying this one as it was so disappointing. The solid perfume, however, won my heart time after time and I've repurchased this twice! Upon the first time you crack the lid open, the mint is what jumps out first and foremost, but as it's applied, it really settles and the herbal notes shine through and linger. I also noticed that the longer I have it open, the more subdued the mint becomes and it actually becomes more pleasant, hence the reason why I keep coming back to it. It's the kind of scent you want to wear when you want just a little coolness and edge but not too in-your-face about it, and still comfortable to wear daily in any season. Definitely one of the better fragrances Lush has produced over the years, 10/10!

Dirty by Lush is simply the perfume you should go for if you're looking for the smell of mint. Which is ironic, since mint is everything but dirty. As many reviewers said, it reminds a bit of toothpaste or even mint bubblegum. Which isn't necessarily bad. It starts of incredibly strong, a bit off-putting at the beggining, I must admit. I can definitely detect mostly the mint and the tarragon, which end up eventually being the main notes in here. As it dries down, it gets much less sharp and pungent then on the opening, which I have to admit not to be a fan. It gets creamier and creamier and I absolutely love the overall minty green herbal dry down of this one. The oakmoss and sandalwood give it more depth. It's unusual and magnificient at this stage. It lasts (and when I say this, I really mean it) FOREVER. It's THE strongest fresh perfume I've ever experienced, no doubt. And the sillage is absolutely impressive as well, even when it dries down. And although it's a bit too much in the beggining, it doesn't bother at all afterwards. So if you have problems with longevity on fresh perfumes, this one is a great option for you to test. Everyone I believe has their “smell” not a signature fragrant per se, but a scent that without fail will cause someone to accost you and tell you how good you smell. Dirty is that perfume for me. Whether you think it smells too hippy-ish or get toothpaste, I won’t argue with what your nose is picking up. But this scent, every single time I wear it, has some sort of aphrodisiac effect on others. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s one of very few fragrances where I have both the body spray, the shaving cream, AND the soap, so it just works with the products I own, or if it’s just I lucked out on the bottle I bought, but you would think I was wearing some sort of pheromone by how much people flock to me. And it doesn’t matter if I just sprayed it or I’ve had in it on for a few hours. It lasts a long time as well and it’s quite strong on the initial spray. In fact my heart sank when I first bought it because i sprayed it on me in my car and on the drive home I started getting a headache. However I just lightened my sprays and I just make sure to spray in an open area (like a room) so the smell can “breathe” and i don’t have any issues.

this is my signature scent. bar none. sometimes we overdo it with all these crazy off the wall head-turners, but at the end of the day this is the basis of what i consider a perfume workhorse. it's intensely fresh, with notes of spearmint and super clean, bright soap. it's as if every note and ingredient in this perfume uplifts each others' freshness. bright green, bright aquatics, mints, grasses, basically every bright-smelling material on earth distilled to a bottle (or solid pot, which, might i add, lasted me from my junior year of high school to my sophomore year of college). it reminds me of being a kid, getting home from whatever sports my parents signed me up for, and hopping in the shower and getting into bed, ready to sleep off the fatigue of unwelcome exercise. picking this up is a no-brainer. the solid form will last you at least a year of intensely heavy wear, applying multiple times in a day, and for the price of a big mac combo (whether that speaks to the low pricepoint of the perfume or the increasing inflation of mcdonald's prices is unknown, but i digress). do yourself a favour and buy this perfume.

Blindly bought a 30ml of Dirty without testing. Indeed I had much regrets. Regretted not getting the 100ml, regretted not stocking up more 30mls. This is so potent and good! Oh my gosh! This is it! This is the scent and performance I have been seeking all along. Is it because it is a linear scent that we get this mint scent from start till end? I have been trying minty perfumes these days... Menta y menta, L'eau Chic, You or Someone Like You.. but nothing smells and performs like Dirty. Dirty is refreshing and uplifting. Makes me also want to get the shower gel. If you are into mint scent perfume and want something that last and smells the same throughout and does not mind comments saying it reminds the smell of toothpaste, mouthwash, chewing gum, sweets, etc and what not, GET THIS ALREADY! Edit: Got Dirty Springwash shower gel last week and just ordered Dirty body spray to use it as a room spray.

I love this perfume! When I first spray it I feel so nostalgic! My mum used to put lavender and mint essential oils on a tissue on my pillow when I was younger and I couldn't sleep. I really strongly smell the lavender when i first spray this perfume which is really fresh when combined with the mint. When it dries down I smell the spearmint and its so fresh and airy. Something about it is also very aquatic to me. I can imagine myself wearing this to the beach or a pier on a hot day and sitting with my feet dangling in the water :) Although I think of this as more of a bright daytime fragrance, I also use it before bed by spraying a little bit on my wrist and/or pillow, It makes me feel so cosy and young and reminds me of my mum :)

Lush Dirty (2011) - spearmint fougere - #markconstantine shares a great story about making this perfume for his 3 birdwatching mates who went off in the morning without even a shower. It also has a personal story, as it was the perfume I was using when my then-girlfriend, now wife, were starting to go on dates. Starts with a spearmint burst that resembles the scent of brushing your teeth, but that transitions into its herbal heart: Anise-like Tarragon, Lavender, and Thyme. I also get this rounded and woody Sandalwood and Oakmoss base that helps smoothen out the composition. For those wanting “performance”, give this one out as the perfume is potent. Yet, Juvenile and novel composition it is not, but a great gem in perfumery.

Sometimes a pungent botanical aroma just really hits the spot for me. Take Lush, for example. What I really admire about it is that it so defiantly avoids any traditional structure of what we can perfume (save for perhaps an inclination toward a fougere), yet it somehow is a joy for me to wear. Spearmint, tarragon, and thyme oils thrown together in a frenzy? Throw in some lavender for good measure? I'll say yes. It smells brisk and vigorous, as natural as all outdoors, It all settles into something clean, tonka-sweet, powdery and soapy, while still retaining its herbal, aromatic green shape. In case you haven't caught on, there isn't anything dirty about it. This just feels as comfortable as a nice pair of slippers.

I can’t wait to buy a full bottle. My 9 year old son recognised it instantly as smelling like a Lush bath bomb when he caught a whiff of the soapy dry down on my arm. The opening oscillates between spearmint leaves (the lollies), and thick mint sauce on roast lamb. The surprise hits 30-60 minutes in when it takes an iris-like turn into powder territory- it’s Panache without the headache, and Chanel No. 19 EDT without the price-tag. I’ve been searching for a while for a lavender fragrance, and for a clean and powdery scent - I’ve found a two-in-one in Dirty. Sometimes I breathe wafts of earthiness, but it may be my imagination more than the oak moss. I figured the name is ironic.

I heard a lot about this and I'll admit that the name put me off. lol Spraying "Dirty" all over me after I've just a shower? Haha. I happened to go into a Lush shop on my birthday last month and smelt it... and was sold! £25 for a body spray then and there. I have to say, I'm obsessed with the smell of spearmint and don't come across things with it in very often, so I'd buy almost anything with it in, but it's quite a prominent part of the scent so it really was a no-brainer. It's incredible on a hot day, you just smell so fresh! I bought the perfume as well a few days later. It's not the longest lasting scent, but I'm happy to smother myself in it throughout the day! :)

even though Dirty is obviously as fresh as they come, it can be worn all year round and i’ve actually been doing so for 4 years now. there’s something so invigorating about this fragrance. the main note is definitely mint, but it doesn’t smell like toothpaste or cheap aftershave, it’s more like ground mint that you’ve just picked from the garden. Dirty is a staple in my collection and i will be repurchasing it until the end of my days. most fresh fragrances feel like carbon copies of each other, which makes Dirty stand out even more. this scent is also very masculine-leaning, which i’m a big fan of. i encourage ALL butches to wear it this summer!!! :p

I don't usually think of myself as an aquatic lover but this is a lovely fragrance. Very unisex and fresh I admit I love the mint note and wish it lasted a lot longer. The green note and marine note are definitely in it for the long haul. It has a wonderful cooling quality. It's like sucking on a mint sweet. It is all a wonderful illusion. These notes are backed by wonderful aromatic herbal notes that are really important in this scent. They stop it becoming too much of a marine world. I'd be lying if I said it took you on a wonderful olfactory journey. It is very linear. I don't mind as I enjoy it as is. Good longevity and sillage.

I recently rediscovered this fragrance at my local Lush store. It's exactly what my soul needs after the dormant winter months as we're drifting into spring. It's a very fresh scent with minty notes dominating the composition. As it dries down the soft, herbal notes also come out to create a balanced mix of joy and comfort. The mint in it clears my mind and helps me keep a fresh attitude throughout the day. It's a great choice for the everyday if you'd like to spice up your atmosphere a bit and add a touch of playfulness. As of now, I only have a 10 ml discovery spray, and I'm definitely going to grab a bigger bottle!

It's morning. I'm finally out of my shower and dressed. Oops I drooled toothpaste onto my shirt again. This would pair great with oops I spilled coffee on my shirt. I was drinking a bourbon flavored coffee earlier and it did smell really good together. After that I paired it with rose jam, and oh, my, gosh. Highly recommend. Bath and body works scents have a common smell to their own sprays. I feel like a lot of the lush fragrances share a vibe as well, but I like it, and I can't really turn it into a note. These together amp it up and blend so well together. No longer separate rose and mint. Blended. Mose and rint.

It doesn't smell minty or toothpastey to me at all. It's herbal, androgynous but on the masculine side, somewhat pinelike and green with the oakmoss and sandalwood. A little bit smoky. It reminds me of the dark, misty green of early autumn, cold air and tall forests. Somehow it doesn't strike me as a summer scent, but that might just be my personal association. It lasts all day and Does have a freshness reminiscent to mint, but that's as far as that note goes to me. Dirty has been my favorite scent for years- the solid in the discontinued tin, so that might influence how I experience this scent. It's really good.

Okay, this is fun! Dirty doesn't smell dirty at all, but I guess that is the joke. This perfume is straight up spearmint bubblegum on my skin, maybe there's a hint of some herbs, maybe some lavender. The scent evolves a little, it goes softer in the end as the sandalwood comes up. The staying power is surprisingly good, few hours on me. It's masculine, in a way, but still not. I think anyone can wear it. It's fresh and refreshing. It reminds me of childhood and eating a lot of gum. The best thing was to take a huge bunch of gum and chew it till your jaws got sore. Fun, definitely fun!

One of my favourite fragrances, very easy to wear every day in any season. Sweet and herbal without being overly powerful in either, this blends into a refreshing brightness that reminds me of rain amidst a garden. There's no unpleasant sharpness that occasionally occurs with herbal scents, unless you count the sweetness of the mint. From smelling the nozzle, I can detect that dentist-sterile smell others have mentioned, but I've never smelled a hint of that on my skin or in the air once sprayed. It's beautifully fresh, smooth, and clean.

I have the body spray of this and was blown away by how long-lasting it was. I could catch whiffs of it up to 8 hours later. It felt really refreshing spraying it on, I imagine I would love it during the summer. Notes dominant on me are mint and lavender which I both love. I also used the vanillary solid perfume (also by Lush) on my pulse points and the combo smelled really good. Surprisingly, the body spray outlasted the solid perfume! I can't comment on the perfume, but I think the body spray would work on both men and women.

I have to say I absolutely love this perfume. Its very sharp and fresh, but more like an anti-bacterial spray than a forest. It has been my signature scent for about a year, and I don;t know how to branch out from it. Its an EXTREMELY clinical scent. My friend said that I smell like a freshly prepped operating theater. Its amazing. I love it. It wear off very quickly, but since the smaller bottle is so cheap, I dont mind applying generously throughout the day! Layering it with the body spray can help keep the longevity.

I love this fragrance. It is a beast in summer and projects very well with body heat. I first smelled this 4 years ago on a dude walking past me and I was like 'Damn he smelled good'. Only until last year I got a chance to smell it again on my colleague and managed to find out that it was Dirty from Lush. Trust me. The silage is insane. You will definitely get noticed. It lasts long too. Considering the price point and the value it can bring, I would say this is a must-have in anyone's perfume collection.

I bought this because I was obsessed with the shower gel, unfortunatly whatever it was that I liked is not obvious in the perfume. In general it's a pleasant enough, unique everyday scent that I don't regret buying (given the price). After a few hours it turns into a nice fresh lavender scent. Unfortunately there's something in it that really makes my eyes water if I do more than a couple of sprays, I tend to need to leave the room or open a window :/

This fragrance always my only one choice for the fxxking hot day in my country. Fresh and Green with Spicy Aromatic hint that remind somebody to mouthwash or toothpaste in sometimes LOL But it's really good. Fresh Cold and refind i always enjoy this fragrance in every version (Body Spray, Soap, Bodywash and Bathbomb) but in fragrance form is the best form of this smell Longivity is just moderate but always better than other fragrance in same vibe.

this definitely starts off super minty, but i don't find it medicinally mint at all; it's more earthy, more fresh, more raw. it eventually dies down into this gorgeous, aromatherapy type scent with the lavender and other backing notes. it almost smells like a high-end spa lotion. very relaxing. i think this would be absolutely perfect to wear in late spring/early summer, and i'm so glad i bought a full bottle! overall lovely fragrance 💚💜

I usually don't mess with anything soapy, but the moment I first smelled this was the moment I knew I could finally transform into the genderfucky car mechanic of my dreams. Why is nobody talking about the sour/metallic notes? can we please talk about the sour/metallic notes? Something in this is giving off sweat, rust, and machine oil to me. Clings onto my shirt beautifully. Makes me feel like I'm cutting through the air as I walk.

I don’t think it smells of toothpaste :) in my nose mint gets lost in the sandalwood and is only perceptible at first sniff. Sometimes I get a whiff of it in the evening, while taking off my clothes, but I wish I could smell it more throughout the day. I had many people approach me out of the blue to ask me what it was - it’s the only lush perfume I find worth buying. Would like to find more similar fragrances. Definitely unisex

Very fresh and cooling menthol dominant fragrance. It smells more like mint water rather than actual mint. I really like the tarragon note here. The drydown has a soapy vibe with the lavender and neroli. Very good fragrance to refresh you. This is very suitable for sultry summers days. Almost like a cup filled with ice, tonic water, and loads of mint.

This is all my bed will ever smell of. I shower at night, apply liberally to my chest, and sleep as soundly as a child in a cloud of vicks. In the morning, I'm left with a skin scent of sandalwood and a glorious muddle of other unidentifiable notes. Dirty is very much an aphrodisiac, the perfect spot between sexy and fresh first thing in the morning.

Love me some good minty fragrances and this is definitely one of my favorites ever. Fresh and herbaceous mint scent, and there's this waxy, play-doh kind of texture on the background that really draws me in. One of very few Lush fragrances that I really enjoy, as I had various disastrous blind buy experiences with Lush.

A very polarizing one, but I love it : very fresh, very clean like an oxymoron with its name. Wearing it underlines a way of life : control, action, sobriety, simplicity, not at all a gourmand one but actually a strong identity. Use it when you want, but be cool on the trigger because it's quite potent. 10 / 10

I would say this is a Male scent not shared. Actually really love this scent it's clean and kind of unique. I use it as my lazy day scent if I'm puttering around the house with nothing but a trip to Walmart on the books I'll put it on. Do mix it into my rotation once a blue moon and people do seem to notice it.

This is my signature fragrance, it is unisex refreshing minty with a soapy lavender at the very end of it, which it stays in your skin for a while and in your clothes forever it’s delicious. It’s just refreshing. 9/10 (it lacks in longevity, but it’s a freshie and I don’t ,ind to re apply after 4 hours)

Beautiful fresh scent, I have never used anything like this. Fresh is like minty fresh, like a spearmint gum or a toothpaste. But in a good way. Great for hot summer days, but also wearable during the whole year, it reminds you of summer. Longevity is extraordinary, price is great.

Well if this is dirty -- I don't wanna be clean!! This is perfect for this warm busy week and it smells wonderful. I feel fresh minty and a bit herbalicious :). It stays on my clothes and the next day they remind me of being at the seashore Second bottle worthy for me. nice!

I was looking for a mint-perfume and wel... safe to say I found it! Absolutely in love with this scent from Lush. To my nose it's more fresh mint leaves, rather than toothpaste. Can't wait for a warm summer day, fresh out of the shower and spraying this perfume.. Heaven!

love this, can layer it with almost anything.. so versatile :P this perfume was inspired fishermen who wanted to go out into the markets but didn't want to smell like fish so they'd rub mint leaves all over themselves to mask the fishy smell..

Love the mint. I am not a fan of lavender and thankfully it is minimal here. Really enjoying this fragrance. I have the solid rather than the spray. I don’t wear this very often, but spring is right around the corner (theoretically)!

Wow!!! I love this perfume so much (I'm talking about the body spray). This is the smell of baby powder for grown ups! Initial blast of Mint, then settles down to sandalwood musky base notes which lasts all day. Love it!!!

I really like this because I am a mint fan. It does smell very green. I think if you don't like mint or earthy scents for sure you will not like this. Lush has some amazing scents, I am becoming a fan!

A true unisex herbal fragrance. All I get from it is mint tea, herbal essential oils and lovely sandalwood in the drydown. Good for all seasons and types of weather if you want to feel refreshed.

This is a sweet herbal-mint toothpaste. The name is misleading, it should be called FRESH AF. A little apothecary, but nonetheless very interesting. One of my faves from lush.

An unusual mixture of mint, herbal and woody notes that is slightly masculine, but I love it. I have the soap as well and I feel so refreshed and clean after I use it.

The good thing about this is that it is exactly what you expect. Herbal, fresh and minty (NOT like toothpaste - if you think this, do you even brush your teeth?)

Love it. Mint + tarragon, but the mint not as a gum, but rather as wild herb. It's also surprisingly longlasting for this type of fresh-y notes.
