Elphaba Thropp

Shoutout to everyone who doesn’t like this fragrance because it leaves more for those of us who can appreciate this gem. This is my first Lush Body Spray (it took my nose a while to adjust to Lush’s dna) and I am thrilled. So much in fact, I may have to buy a backup before this collab has run its course. This is the most perfect simple, woody vanilla. If you’re a fan of Eau Duelle, Commodity Gold, or any non-gourmand vanillas, this is for you. This is simple without being boring, yet, is unique and many people won’t be smelling like it. There’s also a natural quality about this that I love, especially as most body sprays tend to smell synthetic (which makes sense given the ingredients). Three words: grounded, assured and woody. EDIT 1: after wearing for a few days consistently after I purchased it, this is a bit more herbal and aromatic than I initially thought. It smells like lemongrass and vanilla. Still just as good, but definitely vibrant. Could easily be worn in warmer weather as well.

i love this scent!! i typically go for more gourmand fragrances so the glinda body spray was more my speed. luckily, i picked up samples of both because my lush didn’t have them in store yet and i live too far to try them once they did. i like to layer this with the glinda body spray as lush suggests and it’s heavenly. the perfect amount of vanilla and sweetness, but also not too sweet that it’s sickening. this is nice for when i want a sweet perfume without possibly making myself nauseous in my own scent bubble 😅 it also lasts forever ! i put this on christmas morning when i got it, and woke up after sleeping and still smell it without having to hold my wrist up to my nose. 10/10 lush! just wish the price wasn’t so high. $100 for two 200ml body sprays is pretty steep especially when they recommend you get both. but also lush’s body sprays are beastmode, they’re way stronger than any typical body spray, closer to an EDT than anything.

I am sure there are inconsistencies in the making of this spray. For me it smells primarily of black pepper then a woodsy smell. I bought it in the sale but would buy again if it smelt the same. I spray in on my body and clothes and when I go back into the same room 24 hours later I can still smell it. Very similar to Lord of Misrule perfume in its vibe but with much longer longevity. I do mix it with the Glinda spray and I wonder if that makes it last longer. I definitely wouldn’t wear it to work as I think others would find it overpowering.

Absolute love!! But I don’t wear it. I spray my curtain and furniture with it. And the floors of my car. Love this as a room scent! I bought back ups! This should be permanent!

This is an interesting and welcome departure from the usual gourmand and floral body mists. At first spray, it's peppery and piney—very green and like Pine Sol with an edge. The spice and cedar go well together. After about an hour, the coniferous tinge fades and leaves you with a bit of the pink pepper but a mostly, generally woodsy scent. After about three hours, the vanilla starts to come out and mixes with what's left of the pepper to make a lovely sweet and soft, warm spicy accord. For the remainder of the wear, it's sweet woods from the vanilla and cedar. Overall, this is a decent body mist and I enjoyed it more than the Glinda Upland spray. The longevity is good too, lasting on me for about 8 hours.

Zesty lemon pepper on top of a Guardian Of The Forest style green & dry woods. Gets a bit sweeter on the dry down when the Vanilla shines through. This is nice.

JuliaToothFairy is spot on - it's impossible to rate this using the notes above because they're entirely incorrect ! On spraying I immediately got a blast of citronella which ironically I didn't get when I tried it in store, so I'm guessing those top notes are rather volatile and already softened as it had been open awhile. Fortunately they evaporate and soften quite quickly and instead you do get a lemony tea note with something a little spicy which is reminiscence of one of that originals: Ginger ( I actually used to distribute the products for Cosmetics to Go which was a forerunner to Lush and this was available back then ). It's only after quite some time to the woody notes come through which does improve it quite a lot. I would find it completely unwearable otherwise, as I'm really not fond of bug spray ( I also get bug spray from Jicky, so maybe I'm just weird !!). In fact , it was the dry down that made me purchase this, because a couple hours later it was actually smelling really nice, as I walked around. I do think they missed a trick though. I really hoped the green theme would have inspired something , well, green and we'd have something akin to maybe Guardian of the Forest or Grass or even better Tramp ( but that perhaps would be hoping for too much !) Also whatever you do don't go on the scent of the shower gel because it's entirely different. I bought a small bottle and it's some sweet, sickly, boiled sweet* scent. Unless that's your thing, obviously ! ( *hard candy ) I'm afraid these days I'm frequently disappointed with Lush and so rarely bother. I would say 80% of what they produce as either largely unwearable ( a few random essential oils thrown together, unblended, totally discordant and not suitable as a fragrance ) or just playing to popular tastes and could be found cheaper elsewhere ( something sweet with notes of marshmallow, chocolate and vanilla ) . Which is a shame because when they did occasionally get it right, they got it really right. It's just hard to believe this is the same company that produced things like Kerbside Violet; The Devil's Nightcap, Tramp, and Lord of Misrule. *Sigh*

Best body spray in this year! Sweet, seductive and vibrant. Totally wearable! Buy it before gone!!!

Lol. Had to create an account to share my thoughts on this "perfume". Have you ever seasoned a piece of meat with lemon pepper seasoning and thought, "Hmm, I want this on my body." Then look no further! Lush was able to craft a perfume that truly encapsulates lemon pepper seasoning with the dry down of pinesol! I asked my grandma to smell me and now she is in the hospital, doctors told me to wait outside because I smell like a biohazard. Not for me, not for my grandma, not for anyone with a nose. The opening is just pepper and takes a while to dry down into something more tolerable. If you can manage to get through the opening, you will smell a fresh spicy lemon lime scent. Still not good, still not getting vanilla at all. This was not worth the price and most definitely not worth the headache. Plus side is that has longevity, but is that really a plus when you smell like a meat seasoning? I don't recommend this to anyone, not even as a room spray either. If you love it, I love that for you! But it aint for me.

There are not a lot of perfumes that would straight up disgust me, but this is one of them. Stupidly blind bought and sold it the next day. First of all, the price is ridiculous. Lush started doing all that FOMO thing and making all limited edition stuff even more expensive - I hate it. Anyway, back to the topic - to sum up, this spray smells like holidays in a dumpster. Celery, distinctive aroma of raw meat and dirt mixed with mold. It's gross. I can't believe someone thought it'll be a good idea to make a dumpster scent, especially Lush. Weird interperation of what Elphaba smells like!

A fuller set of notes - Hiba Wood Oil, Cedarwood Absolute, Vanilla Absolute, Sicilian Lemon Oil, Pink Pepper Oil, Cardamom Absolute, Coumarin, Oakmoss Extract. This starts off like a citrussy forest and ends up in a candy store lined with Cedarwood. It goes through a pink pepper stage too but the deep dry down is very candy sweet - that classic Lush combination of Vanilla and Coumarin that you get in American cream... that kind of vibe, so it's sweet but it's not a just vanilla. If you're into Lord of Misrule then this one is quite a different feel imho. It's really quite magical when it dries down but it's honestly a bit challenging in the beginning so it needs time! I tested it in store and didn't buy it but but then I got on the tube and kept getting whiffs of this beauty so I'll probably have to go back and pick a bottle up! I suspect the scent trail from this one is amazing because the scent bubble around me was so comforting. I found the scent I caught in the air to be nicer than when I put my nose to my skin, but towards the end of the night my skin smelt like what I could smell around me. A bit pricy for a body spray but it's 200ml and it's a similar strength to a lot of modern edt's so I think it's worth it. This lasts for ages and gets increasingly sweet, so it could become sickly to some people. Guardian of the Forest would be a better choice for anyone who doesn’t enjoy very sweet perfumes and Lord of Misrule would be better, if you're after a less candy-like green vanilla!. I can see the similarity to Eilish 3 but I find this one more creamy and a little bit less like a Christmas tree. It's got the wood and leaves from a forest but not too many pine needles! Just to also mention - Bare from And Fragrances (by ex-lush perfumer Simon Constantine) also has crossovers with Eilish 3 and Elphaba, but I think the fact that Elphaba is less piney than both makes it easier to wear!

Elphaba Thropp, the body spray, by Lush, smells like grated ginger and lemon. Ignore the listed notes. I don't understand why the notes listed by Lush are never what you smell in their fragrances.

One of my favourites from lush. Leaning masculine. A cosy peppery woodsy scent. Pairs so well with vanillary. Would buy if it was priced like their regular range and not almost double.

a lot of pink pepper, and then just vanishes. Not that much spicy, definitely soft spicey. And flat
