GRASS is BACK! I had used the shower gel in this fragrance until it was no longer produced, and my many pleadings with Lush Corp. did no good :( Life could seem terribly disappointing! My favorite fragrances all discontinued or worse: re-issued but reformulated, and now...GRASS was gone. But then three months ago I discovered that GRASS was available! (and I always said, "This ought to be bottled!) I wrote to LUSH and asked about the formulation.They assured me that it was exactly as the shower gell: same scents, same everything. The cost was reasonable, so I just took the chance, and ordered it. At first try I was not happy. It didn't seem to have the earthiness, like a newly sharpened cedar pencil that I remembered. The powdery, soft ending wasn't what I remembered. But it wasn't..."bad," and I was determined to use it until the bottle was empty. It might have been day three, or maybe day 4, when I had that same feeling again: the swoon I would experience using the shower gel, hot steaming water nebulizing the fragrance so that I stood in a cloud of GRASS, stepping out of the shower feeling so perfectly happy, leaving that scent on the towels, walking in it for hours, loving it. Thinking: "I wish they would bottle this too..." This GRASS in a bottle IS the same as that lovely bath product, and I am thrilled to have it again. There is nothing artificial about it, but it is complex, unique, and as well as "the freshly cut grass," there are other elements that can be singled out and enjoyed as it changes on my skin throughout the day. I know it wasn't me that Lush listened to, but I'm just so GLAD it's back. Now if I could convince some others to re-release in original form my cherished fragrances...are you listening Perry Ellis, Dior, Ralph Lauren, Roget & Gallet, Guerlain......

The first spray was pretty astringent and very VERY herbal. Almost like Pine Sol and dry, California grass. It settled down quickly into that grassy field smell. But I mean *dry* grass— long wheat strands blowing in a big empty field. Woods and neroli in the background. It’s a hot day on the coast here and I’d say the sillage is perfect for me. I can certainly smell it through my mask. After a few hours the fragrance warmed up into powdery woods (the violet note I presume) and the smoke note edges it out just nicely— keeping it from becoming too feminine and “soft/elegant/powder room”. I’d say at the 3-4 hour mark is the sweetest the imagined “grass” smells— it’s a bit greener, freshly cut. Lush really made something photorealistic with this one, and I understand the previous comment about the target demographic— who would wear this? Me? Probably. It’s a stand out, an herbal woody oriental with a presence. If you can get past the astringency of that aloe/oil/grass fantasy accord in the first minute, you’re in for a walk in the park. Literally! Reminds me of my home on the outskirts of the San Francisco bay during the summer. Totally unisex. (new Black label off of Ebay, rarely used full bottle. i’ll update with the batch number later)

I cannot understand the fantastic jump to Shalimar, some reviewers are making. Grass couldn't be more different! Photorealistic grass morphs into something woodsy and floral, with a touch of playdoh, which I find enjoyable. Gets better the longer it's on. I am pretty sure I see an FB in the near future, which is a surprise! Like many Lush perfumes, they need skin to evolve them, on clothes, it doesn't have that magical change. Grass has that unmistakable Lush DNA, as most of their scents do..the smokey note is subtle enough to actually enhance the scent, which is great because I'm not a fan of smoke as a rule. If you like "The Cobra and the Canary" by Imaginary Authors, you will like this one. It's NOT the same, but shares something...it has the same ambiance, the same feeling/personality , imo. I love "Cobra.." I love this too. It's fall but it is strong enough to work with the cooler temps. Can't wait to try it in the summer. Some surprises turn out to be good ones. ✨

I have loved this fragrance since I first smelled it in the shower gel. It starts off with a burst of freshly-cut grass and even as it dries down, it retains that green herbaceous smell. The woody smoke base notes allow it to linger on the skin - it’s actually got great longevity - but they never take over. I also get a bit of the violet and neroli, but whereas I usually dislike violet in fragrances, here it just hints at something floral. For me, this scent is just deep, verdant lawn, dotted with flowers. It’s gorgeous and grassy and when I put my nose right up to my skin and inhale, I get that beautiful smoke that reminds me of a slow summer evening.

This is absolutely incredible - pure, fresh-cut grass that has dried out in the summer sun with a bit of sweetness reminiscent of wildflowers and tree sap. The longevity and projection are good, not extreme and not too intimate that only I can smell it. Even though it's called 'Grass,' I don't think it's too unconventional to wear to an office setting. I cannot wait to wear this in spring and summer, it bizarrely has quite a clean quality despite being so earthy. I love this!

I LOVE this scent. Like fresh grass in the summer, slightly sweet. The aloe and subtle florals give it a coolness and depth that separate this scent from a one-note realistic grass dupe. I'm a huge fan of the Lush fragrances, so I layer this with Rose Jam (jammy, deep, almost gourmand rose), Breath of God (serious, resin-y, church-like), or Fresh As (piney, bright, natural) to switch the vibe up. I get complimented all the time wearing this.

I love love love this perfume!!! Such a perfect green fragrance. Great staying power and sillage as well! I always get compliments when I wear this scent. Update: June 2023 - did they reformulate recently? I feel like both the longevity and sillage have tanked since my last bottle. Or did I just get a bad bottle? Anyone else have this experience recently?

had the body wash which prompted me to purchase the perfume because the violet is delicious and i just love anything with a violet note. however, something about the perfume is cloying. it's still bright, green, herbaceous, and energetic and i most certainly still get use out of it. i'll just have to continue developing my appreciation for it

Perfect grass scent, like this is probably the best, most realistic grass perfume you can buy.

Not at all what I was expecting from ‘Grass’. The green grass note of the opening lasts for a couple of minutes after which it turns into.... Shalimar. Yes, Shalimar. It was so funny I was racking my brain thinking ‘I KNOW this smell, what IS it’ until it finally dawned on me. Lush has somehow ended up making a more natural version of Shalimar, complete with the bergamot sandalwood woody smokey sweet notes. Could hardly be further away f green grass and I would have said Lush and Shalimar are polar opposites! Maybe I got a strange batch? I’m still shaking my head and smiling. Its Shalimar.

Yes it does smell like grass, but its a bit more herbal and woody than grass in the carefully manicured lawn of some middle class household. More like slightly overgrown grass with a few weeds here n there and ivy growing all over the trees. I like it a lot but was not a fan of the price point as Lush has similar fragrances for less. If its within your budget though, this is the perfect "green" warm weather fragrance

Okay I really like the opening. To me its a lot of fresh cut grass and violet. Then it turns into shaving cream. So the beginning is fresh and bright and then it becomes shaving cream scented. I think I also get some weird off-putting dirtiness that comes through which might be the smoke. Overall it is okay. Could be worn anywhere and in the warmer months.

Very different to the shower gel, which has more of the fresh cut grass scent. At the start say Bond Street 1972 smells more grassy than this. The dry down has an earthy but slightly sweet violet scent. Reminding me a little of Kerbside Violet, but sweeter. You eventually get to the cut grass at the end

Quite unique - really does smell like grass with some herbs & lemon added. Good longevity on me and projects well. Not a signature fragrance but one I like to wear every now and then in the warmer months when I’m outdoors.

like this scent, i usually prefer unisex perfumes n colognes but this to me leans more towards male perfume.if i aint single id love to smell it on my guy :3 definitely smell like expensive perfumes

The same iconic scent as Lush's Grass shower gel (released 2010) but sadly discontinued in stores years ago. I'm delighted that this is available now! It is literally cut-grass scented!

Grassy, green, bright. Imagine a child making a grass and plant soup in the yard in a bucket. Absolutely perfect, exactly what I like in a perfume.

An interesting fresh-cut grass note combined with powdery florals. Perfect for early spring and fall.

The dry down is very similar to the dry down of current Roma by Laura Biagiotti

Immediate green grass opening, but very quickly moves into woody, warm spice - almost like patchouli incense. Dries down with a long-lasting, powdery vanilla sweetness. To me those middle and end notes are the strongest, way stronger than the actual grass note. Not a traditional grass scent. It's creative, but not for me.

love the pollen-soaked greenness, but something spicy and harsh in the top layer kinda sticks in the back of my nose - its a bit overwhelming. the base has a plain sweetness that feels lacking, a little unbalanced. interesting, not unpleasant but not one i wear often.

Sweet floral bubblegummy grass. If someone made a grass flavoured bubblegum, this it what I imagine it would smell like. I definitely get some tuberose from this. Not bad, just not for me. I much prefer the smell of the grass shower gel.

Nice grassy smell, reminds me of CB's I hate perfume one with the tomato leaf. It's pretty on the nose, and not much more than that -smells like grass! 5/10

Green green green! You gotta be into green fragrances for this one, otherwise it can be overwhelming. I like smelling this more than wearing it.

Definitely smells like grass, but I couldn't get over the ovewhelming sweet candy scent that went along with it.

Smells like freshly mowed grass

Grass has me a bit disappointed. To me the three most prominent notes are the three that were selected the least on this page: oil, incense and violet. I can definitely smell the green notes, but freshly cut grass? Not really. This fragrance is smokey and thick, not at all dewey and uplifting. Not sure why my experience is so different but I can't relate to the previous reviews or to this frag's popularity.

Green herbal oil. I get a little wood and smoke. It's sweet-ish, and green but I don't get lawnmower grass. It kind of smells like a field that has been burnt. Like razing crops. It strikes me as a very ancient sort of smell. The smell of ancestors who had a bad harvest and scorched the farmland. Though not overly smoky. A resiny regrowth from the ashes.

I wish I loved this scent, I sprayed it on a test strip and really thought they nailed the cut grass. On my skin despite the initial freshness from the spritz it dries down fast into a powdery, almost stale, cloud with the gasoline really overpowering any green that should be coming through. I'll try it a few more times but I'm not really sold.

Like all of Lush's fragrances, this does not have nuance and is overpoweringly potpourri-esque. I get sandalwood, oily floral, and my grandmother's sock drawer freshener. I am really not a fan of lush's fragrance line. Everything I have tried feels like it was just thrown together with no care or knowledge of the way fragrance wears over time, and as much as I love a good simple fragrance, this is just flat out not good. It's also impossible to get off, so if you spray it on to try it, you're gonna be stuck with it for at least 24 hours.

it smells like grass, yeah. something i wasnt expecting though is that the drydown is a powdery violet/sandalwood scent to me. its weirdly reminiscent of Initio Rehab, but with this overarching green harshness that makes it much worse. not a fan, personally.

Let’s not get it twisted, Grass by Lush is definitely grass scented; a hugely popular and highly coveted Lush fragrance family which has been rare and hard to find in years past. Grass was one of the first scents I ever experienced from Lush in the form of a shower gel, back in 2014. I honestly found it a bit odd at first but not really in an off-putting way. Years later I rediscovered Lush as a company and renewed my love for this particular scent after taking the plunge and buying both the perfume and perfume oil after seeing it online. Right out of the bottle it is straight up grass, which doesn’t sound all that enticing, but the violet, sandalwood and woody notes in the dry down really round it out and tone down the initial sharp green grassy-ness, giving it way more body and dimension, evolving it into a gorgeous, earthy unisex scent that almost somehow gives me American Cream vibes in some weird way if you can believe it. After awhile it turns into like a sweet grass; somewhat soapy, almost powdery yet green and slightly floral or feminine grass scent. It’s utterly enchanting, perfect for spring or a sunny summer day (but ultimately suitable any time of the year), ageless, timeless, genderless, fresh and green. Lush’s Grass perfume is a definite winner to me, which initially, I never thought would be my thing. But honestly, it’s hard for me to find a Lush scent that I don’t end up liking :)

This is a really interesting scent which I find keeps moving & changing constantly. Throughout wearing it switches from wet juicy bitter grass to sweet hay like grass. I guess the hay aspect is the coumarin, it’s dry & a bit “nutty”. I also smell a soft “anise” like note - no idea what that is. In addition to all that, in the dry down I pick up on a sweet musky slightly synthetic almost (baby) powdery like note. I thought it was going to collapse in the dry down to be just this sweet musky/powderyness, but (happily) it doesn’t - it just pops up now & again amongst the alternating wet & (progressively) drier greenery. Smokiness is more noticeable in the dry down. I don’t detect any Neroli. I think this is maybe better for summer. Longevity is pretty good & it lasts all day on my skin. I paid £80 for 100ml, which I think it’s good value because (to me) it smells like something that cost more. Quite an unusual perfume...I keep sniffing to see what it’s doing next! 😀 Edit 16/9/23. I wore this today, it now smells “flat” & the baby powder like note is the most prominent. I have really gone off this, but I don’t know if it’s my perception that has changed, or if the perfume itself has deteriorated considerably in the space of 2 years...I think I may get rid of it now.

This review is for the black-label Perfume Library edition available new in 2020. Many of Lush's scents were designed as scents for body care products, not as perfume for skin. I used the Grass shower gel, which is fresh and grassy, but a shower gel has no dry down. Grass perfume, on the other hand, has a long and tenacious dry down which has nothing to do with bright, green, Springtime grasses. This perfume is all about the warm and woody base. Much in the way that Chergui's mentholated top notes mature into sweet and dense accords of amber and hay, Grass's freshie green top makes way for a base exactly as described: wood, smoke, and herbal notes. 100% unisex. If you come here expecting something brisk, green and astringent, you may be disappointed. But if you're open to a sweet woody oriental with a one-of-a-kind herbaceous opening, you may find a new fave.

i use to work for this company back in 2013 and this scent still lingers in my mind. I LOVE this fragrance from top to bottom and it brings back so many beautiful memories. im going to sound like i have bias but this is an amazing fragrance it smells exactly what its named. the way i describe this scent is absolutely niche its like if weirdcore and dreamcore turned into hippie inscense on a fresh cut lawn. something about it comes off as playdough too but that just adds to the nostalgia aesthetic to me. sillage is amazing my friends would always comment "are you wearing that lush perfume again". now in days people just compliment me on how clean it smells. so it hits alot of marks that people look for in a fragrance its just a very different so its not for everyone.

First five minutes are sweet fresh-cut grass. Next five hours are New Caledonian sandalwood and coumarin. The connective tissue is a petrol-like (read: 'oily') violet note. Frankly, it feels like an upgraded niche version of Adidas Sport Field. Fragrances like Grass are special to me because they are meditations on Earth materials, and are meant to transport the wearer to nature. Going to work today? No, you're not. You're wearing Grass, and you're letting your inner self sprawl out in a verdant field of green grass and hay, inhaling the woody textures that surround you as you let your soul be free. I strive to escape the sins of the world by embracing nature, and peace. Perfume, when well done, can facilitate that. Grass is fairly simple, but it's well done.

I smelled this in store early in 2021, perhaps February, and it smelled EXACTLY like freshly cut grass. I remember handing off my tester strip to my friend because of how uncanny the resemblance was. Now, in July of 2021 this smells like an old lady, powdery and incensey. What happened? I'm so disappointed I didn't buy a full bottle. I will be resampling this soon in case it was simply a bad batch, but I believed the name changed from "Fresh Cut Grass" to simply "Grass," suggesting a reformulation. I could be wrong. Still sad :(.

It starts out smelling like a fresh-cut lump of grass on the lawn while your dad is off mowing somewhere else— photorealistic grass in a bottle. Somehow, it then turns into Shalimar. My grandmother has worn Shalimar every day of her life so I am intensely familiar with the scent, so it was a real jumpscare. I have no idea how or why this happens, but it does. I'm deeply confused about this.

i had to buy this because the original grass shower gel was one of the things that started my love of fragrance. but the perfume doesn't have that same magic. too powdery, too soft, too synthetic. the shower gel genuinely smelled like someone had just mowed the lawn -- fresh, crisp, sweet, and organic. the perfume leans away from those qualities.

I have the older 30ml bottle, not the new reformulation. The opening is a jubilant burst of fresh cut grass and sunshine. It's bright, sharp and wheat-grassy, and then it's gone. It doesn't last thirty minutes on my skin, though spraying on clothes gets a slightly better performance. A nice refreshment on a hot day, but impossibly slight.

Just went to Lush shop to try this out while I got myself a bottle of Dirty. The initial spray is definitely strong fresh cut grass scent and I really love it! But..... sadly, the green smell doesn't last long, it became a rather sandalwoodish incense which is strong and lasting. I really wish the initial green smell can last forever.

Interesting olfactory experience, but let’s be honest - how many of you want to smell like freshly mowed lawn?:-) Kudos to Lush’s creativity and courage to commercialize such a niche concept.

i can agree that is starts out with a blast of green, then turns a bit licoricey on me but then quickly dries down into something vintagey powdery wood, I can see why people say shalimar.

This is my new favourite. It opens up with a very real rendition of grass and then fades into a rather musky scent. As someone else said on this page it does remind me a bit of Shalimar!

I absolutely don't get the "cut grass" smell but rather a very green violet and sandalwood wich I ADORE. Reminds me a lot of Kerbal Violet that is discontinued I believe.

Accurately named - smells like freshly cut grass. Very pleasant and nice. But I would not choose to have a fragrance that makes me smell like grass! Personal preference.

-Opens smelling literally like cut grass. -Dries down slightly reminiscent of cut hay. -Overall: green grassy scent with a somewhat smoky, earthy quality to it. (-)

10% grass smell 90% tahini scent?? Kinda weird bc I love the smell of grass but this just smells like sesame with a little green note or im going crazy
