Bought this on a whim, recommended by Lush. Really pleasantly surprised with this one - it's one of those perfumes where you can't stop smelling yourself all day. Opens with bursting lemon and rosemary and slowly dries down into a blackcurrant-lemon scent (it smells like Soothers Blackcurrant). This settles into a very sweet blackcurrant powdery smell and this is the point where I can't stop smelling my wrists all day. It's a very fresh perfume which should be worn in the day, particularly spring and summer. It's a crisp sunny morning and you're dressed in vintage clothing, on your way to catch up with your old friends Jenni & Sarah for brunch at your fave restaurant (the one with the botanical plants, water-feature wall and grand piano). Afterwards it's a trip to the vintage clothing and book stores. This is a general (but unusual) and affordable perfume that you can pop in your bag and keep applying throughout the day.

I tried to be really cute and buy this for a guy once and he cheated on me and it's the only thing I took back if that shows how much I love this scent. So much blackcurrant it becomes medicinal, almost sickly, like a lozenge. Once it dries down the sage and the rosemary come through and it loses it's medicinal quality. The longevity is good and this is definitely one of the better Lush perfumes! Cough syrup, berry picking, warm squash, lozenges, hot summer's days in the sun with friends, play fighting, childish giddiness

i adore junk by lush and i honestly think it is one of their most underrated fragrances. it does start off having quite a medicinal scent, like cough syrup, but it dries down to have this delicious, intimate, fruity smell. the blackcurrant note isn’t too overpowering, but powerful enough to make it sweet and comforting. for the price, i absolutely recommend it and i think it is one of my favourite lush scents.

This is medicinal, in the most delightful way. Blackcurrant juice and lemon juice are classic vitaminic ways to make the medicine go down, and this evokes both of them at once, on top of a sharp underlying 'active ingredient' herbiness. Next time I get sick I'm going to see how this feels. Despite the official Lush copy, to me the blackcurrant predominates -- if you want a blackcurrant scent this is it.

i have a solid version of this, and it reminds me of great summer nights with your friends when you're a teenager and have all your dreams ahead of you. it's citrusy, minty fresh and sweet like soda yet it doesn't get annoyingly sweet. like a sober mojito or a sour hard candy that makes you laugh. hot and carefree days on the beach

i really like the medicinal scent in the opening, then after a while it’s sweet blackcurrant and a bit green/herbal from the rosemary. they go together really well. i have the solid perfume and i find it lasts fairly well throughout the day.

Stunning I love how magical this fragrance is as it just rosemary lemon and maderin but it creates a smooth fresh blackcurrant menthol smell that’s just so unique and refreshing and utterly beautiful 🤩

I think this is a love it or hate it scent. It smells exactly like Sour Patch Kids to me. To my friend, it smells like astringent cough syrup. I love it though.

Cough syrup. To the people saying this smells like cough syrup, I would like to say that I wish I had your cough syrup. What brand are you guys using? This smells nothing like the cough syrup I had as a kid, nor the ones I've needed on a handful of occasions as an adult. Robitussin, Delsym, Vicks brands, etc. need to take note of Junk and up their game. As a side note: I know part of the schtick for BNTBTBB/Gorilla/Lush was/is to come up with fun, quirky, left-field names that defy convention, but "Junk"...? "What are you wearing?" "Junk." Part of me asks if this is just a bit too far into left field, but, again, just an aside. The perfume opens with strong hesperidics, something akin to bitter oranges. It's sour, citrusy, bitter, a bit green, oily and zesty - a cross between bergamots and mandarins - but without the nose-tingling that frequently comes with these types of openings. For as strong as it is, it's quite rounded and soft. After the opening falls away quite quickly, it's onto a very linear heart and base mostly of blackcurrants and herbs. Though I highly doubt this was Lush's intent, the dry down is a near-perfect evocation of a Bordeaux Left Bank red wine. On this Western side of the Gironde River the use of cabernet sauvignon gives beautiful presentations of blackcurrants (cassis); herbal and slightly camphoraceous notes of rosemary, thyme, and mint; a distinct leathery facet; and touches of aromatic and peppery cedar (and sometimes a strident oak note depending upon how long it was aged in oak barrels and the type of barrel used). Junk nails them all. The balance between these facets is wonderful, just like what you would expect in a great LB cab sauv. The most obvious differences to LBs are with the verticality of the overall aroma: in the perfume the vertical depth is a bit lesser due to the fruit leaning more towards brightness than darkness and slightly less earthy, and the vertical height is notably greater thanks to more emphasis on the herbal and camphoraceous notes. Light, fruity, springy, mouthwatering, and fresh, "if one person's junk is another's treasure" then I'm perfectly happy to take bottles off the hands of people who think this is junk. Hand them over, and your bottles of Left Bank Bordeaux too.

A delicious, oozingly medicinal scent like a sickly sweet lozenge on a liminal cold night, on your way home as you pass by pinely-esque trees. I'm mainly familiar with blackcurrant in other scents, but I feel like lush uses it most well here. Even with the other notes I find myself surprised on how much I love them here; I usually hate rosemary & sage, especially alone but it almost echos similar to a gentler, sweeter eucalyptus? I love it on the days that it fades into it's more citrus notes, as it's nostalgic of eating powdery lemon candies near poolside. The other days it will fade into a more, the best way I can describe as "Royal Purple Pine" esque smell, blending a smoothly fruity syrup with nose stinging herbal scents. It reminds me of the blackcurrant juice boxes they sell at my local arcade, all the times I've bought one after another of them while I play beat em ups & rhythm games until close. I found on my previous wears it does not last long, especially with it's solid version (I own both solid & spray.) but layering both & letting it dry on you for a while before going out helps it stay, so don't go rushing out the door after putting it on!

I decided to check this perfume at Lush because someone said it remembers the discontinued Tribu from Benetton. They didn’t have a tester available at the store, and I was told by the staff that Junk was discontinued but they were releasing a limited edition of it. Since I heard it was similar to the deceased Tribu, I was wild and brave enough to buy it without having ever smelled it. I thought : similar to Tribu? It can’t be bad! To my surprise, it couldn’t be more different from Tribu. Ok ok, the blackcurrant is there, but the unexpected lemon-flavoured losango and the excessive rosemary right after spraying it??? I was not ready to walk around smelling like my dad special herb seasoning mix. Yes, he loooves rosemary. But 10 minutes later, it mellowed to a less rosemary and more powdery. The medicinal scent is still there, but somehow, I like it now! I am absolutely intrigued by this unique and creative perfume, and even though Lush is very popular, I have no recollection of having smelled it before!

Got the solid version for winter and wasn't disappointed. I was concerned regarding how well would it work in cold weather, but shouldn't have been - looks like it made the herby notes stand out even more. The notes don't mention one thing, which is the strong menthol kick of this fragrance. It's not herby in the mellow way, it's sharp. The citrus is amlost unnoticeable among the juiciness of the blackcurrant; blackcurrant leaves to be precise. To me, it's blackcurrant tea with a few sprigs of mint mixed in, in its purest form. Friends have commented that it smells like vague fruit and mint bubblegum, but I would disagree that it's as simple as that. It's a very safe choice for an everyday fragrance, and I'm really happy that I got it.

Someone below said it has menthol and he’s 100% on the dot. This has that cold airy peppermint feel without mint. It is a lot like the halls candy. Imagine an unriped black currant with hints of greenery flavored halls or menthol candy in general this is exactly what this smells like I understand this might sound amazing but honestly it’s not all that. It gets a bit overwhelming it feels like its lingering for too long and is a bit too strong with its menthol Still not to be blind bought, its decent and somewhere along the full wear i got overwhelmed by it honestly

Junk, contrary to the name, is a very fresh, herbal, citrusy and slightly edible fruity scent. Its inoffensive and quite uplifting in the hot weather. I definitely sense a cooling quality/effect from this, it also reminds me of childhood, when I had "Lukcheta" candy for my sore throat. Projection and longevity are both moderate and enough to me. Overspraying makes me nauseous however.

Junk layers beautifully with No Way To Say Goodbye. They share the blackcurrant, but they are not similar scents by any means, so just because you like one doesn't mean you'll like the other. Junk dries down into a sweeter blackcurrant scent, but the opening is a dry lemony herbal scent. Herbal and mentholated, but I wouldn't say "cough syrup."

smells like blackcurrant throat lozenge. at the first spray i was like ew it smells like eucalyptus lollies but after a few seconds it mellows and its really nice. the intense lemon fades a little and the blackcurrant and herbs start to come through and it starts to smell a bit like licorice but the cough lolly is still there if you get close

I got myself the solid perfume version and its so nice! To me its a very obvious citrus scent, but the black currant is strong too - it gives the perfume sweetness. Smells just like lemon gummies :D Update: It's like a cottage-core scent if that makes sense. Fruity and herbal, a bit medicinal. I just love it

junk is good but strange. i have a theory that if you're a vicks lover (like i am) you'll probably like this too or find it inoffensive, but if vicks makes you gag then you'll absolutely hate this. that's not to say they smell alike, but they're both sharp in the same way.
