Lord of Misrule

I was torn between getting this (the solid) vs the perfume vs the body spray, but ultimately decided to go for the solid due to the price point and the fact that I already have a perfume bottle of Turmeric Latte, which I find has *some* similarities to this in that they are both, broadly, a spiced vanilla. This is not a gourmand in the same way Turmeric Latte is to me though. Lord of Misrule is pretty much what the fragrance notes says it should be. Patchouli, black pepper and vanilla. And on me, the strength of each note is in that order specifically. Before the fragrance became a part of Lush's permanent collection, I always noticed Lord of Misrule coming out around the Halloween/Christmas season and on that note, this fragrance evokes the same vibe of a cheeky Christmas elf. It is just on the shy side of being cloying for me though, so I am glad I actually got the solid version because I do find that it's easy for me to get too liberal when applying spray on perfumes. The solid still lasted on me walking outside under 40°C weather, along with a 45 minute boxing class afterwards. I recommend the solid version if there are still any apprehensions with purchasing the actual perfume. Good way to trial run if the scent is actually what you're seeking.

Love the solid. It’s warm but not too “fall,” fresh and herbal, but not too green or too earthy. Wearable year round, day and night.

I’ve been looking for a dupe to Pacifica’s Himalayan Patchouli Berry after it was discontinued, and this is the closest I’ve found so far. It obviously lacks the berry scent, but both perfumes are patchouli-forward with a sweetness to balance it out, and the vanilla in this is subtle and not sickly sweet. Lord of Misrule also has the benefit of being stronger and with more staying power than Himalayan Patchouli Berry, and I appreciate the portability of the solid form.

The patchouli in this comes across very bright and minty, and then everything settles into a very warm vanilla. I don't get any pepper. I find this really soothing and easy to wear. Oddly, my husband says it smells like the cinnamon sugar nuts they sell around the holidays.

Very spicy and dries down to be more vanilla. Refreshing and and warm simultaneously.
