Princess Cottongrass

My top three favourite perfumes from Lush are this one, Princess Cottongrass, Lust and Orange Blossom. I can’t rank them however because the number one spot changes depending on my mood and what the day holds for me, Like a reviewer said below, Princess Cottongrass smells very green and pine-y, I would also add sweet, a sugary sweet. You are walking in a dense pine forest, perhaps the day after a rain, with rays of sunlight piercing through the treetops occasionally and the ground is made of white sugar. It sounds strange, but I love it!

Smells like a meadow in summer. Pine, neroli and violet leaf create a divine natural smelling fragrance. I am so sad this has been discontinued but luckily I still have a big bottle. The violet is very subtle with pine and neroli coming through more to my nose. If anyone has tried the scent grass by lush, it goes very well after a shower involving grass shower gel and/or lotion.

If you were able to create scents, anything from memory... No-one in the world in a million years would come up with something like this but they somehow have. Outstanding but not in a great way. Perhaps a good way though. If you like light florals with a green tint this is for you. It really does smell of nettles and matches the fairytale inspiration. If you liked Squeaky green shampoo bar from lush or enjoy the scent of handy gurugu hand cream then this is your lucky day. Everyone else I imagine would be mildly amused but not wowed by it. There is a powder version called princess which is nice. For me this is a 10ml buy. I wouldn't use anything larger in time but would probably always want a bottle around.

This is suchhh a pine-forward green scent. A hint of violet that peaks through, then explodes as it leads through this scent. I was gifted this scent by an employee with the knowledge that this was being discontinued. I tried it in store and loved it, and further loved it when i got home. It's a very intimate scent that fits perfectly for a soft daytime setting. Imagine using this for a trip to the farmers' market and buying a big bouquet. so so pretty and looking forward to using it more in warmer months!

I HATE the top notes. Absolutely hate them. But then, after a few minutes, this lovely green floral scent comes through and I cannot get enough of that. So I guess it's worth the initial suffering for me. Definitely a spring fragrance, maybe for a very early summer morning when the air is still kind of crisp.

It literally smells wet! Thats the first word that comes to mind whenever i use this one. A wet forest. It has a slightly mulled, suffocating smell to it, like wet flowers, grass and trees combined altogether.

Very fresh-green feel, a spring-summer perfume for sure in my opinion. Unfortunately not for me this one, it is definitely not a bad scent but very much not my cup of tea. It has a cool, crisp green fresh green aromatic feel, nettle and the canadian balm smell strongest, also pine is strong, with a bitter neroli and violet leaf. I don't detect any of the fruity notes or cloves shown in the notes list. It makes me think of the tea-based scents I have tried, green tea generally, although it doesn't smell like tea. It's just that kind of atmosphere, fresh, crisp, bright, clear spring days, that kind of thing. It doesn't have the odd carrier smell that some Lush scents have. Think nettles, iced green tea, green plants crushed between fingers, airy and bright. If you like this kind of thing I think this would be a solid choice. It is just that I don't especially like this kind of thing! Longevity very good, several hours easily. Projects moderately but not overpowering. Probably work safe, best suited to crisp clear spring days, walks in the park, picnics, you get the idea. Basically a good, well made scent with respectable longevity and gentle sillage, but not for me.

On me, this is just odd. I gave this a dislike because I, personally, on me, don’t like it. But it doesn't mean that it is a bad perfume, on the contrary, its trying out things that are not normally done which I applaud it for. There is a certain wet small animal pee quality to it (think this is arising from the combination of the wet violet leaf note and the pine/conifers) that is just plain odd, think a cute stout peeing in the nettles under a pine tree. It is kind of half done, it could be (an interesting) component in a fuller perfume. Definitely odd.

Princess Cottongrass is a very green, piny scent. Sometimes I smell christmas tree in it and sometimes it smells very grassy and flowery. This is a light scent for sunny days. I like it but I couldn't wear it everyday. It's not my favourite, but I like it. It's not as complex as other Lush scents. 3.5/5

I really love the sense of open air in this. Like standing in a pine forest that isn't too dense -- there's plenty of space between the trees -- and gazing up at a bright cloud-grey sky. Lots of grassy, wild greens and that compelling sense of space. I have a feeling this is going to be a slow burn love for me, there's an addictive hook in there somewhere that's really catching at me. The Lush Australia site describes it as 'delicate, alien florals' and 'A secretive scent of violet and neroli fragrance evocative of alien fairytales and forgotten promises. Inspired by the Swedish tale of a lost princess who waits by a lake in the forest, hoping to reclaim the golden heart necklace she lost to the depths. Walk along the lakeside where you may see the slender cottongrass plants watching over the water and you will know she is still waiting. A delicate floral, both sweet and distant as it blossoms on your skin'. The florals come out in the middle for me and they're very much tiny wildflower florals, just the barest whisper of sweetness as you brush against a prickly shrub. The lakeside -- yes, if it's in the middle of a forest, and it's a chilly day. Nordic landscapes are definitely somewhat alien to this antipodean and for me this scent really captures something cool, northern hemisphere, and uncanny -- almost familiar but not quite.

The natural ingredients sound really intriguing, do they not? I have no idea what nettle can add to a fragrance, but as for violet leaf --- it is used in Kerbside Violet, which is just great, yet very subtle in strength. Not bad, it’s just not what I expected. White flowery, rather than neroliish. To my senses it leans to the feminine side.
