Stayin' Alive

I love this perfume! Smells like warm, sweet pencil shavings after a while. At first I get strong alcohol and sharp berries. I can identify with those that liken it to a band-aid smell, but this soon goes. The notes change depending on where I spray it on my body or whether it’s on my clothes. On my inner elbow it is now a completely mellow, vanillary, woody, incense smell. On my chest, I still get wafts of sharp berries alongside the others. On clothes it becomes very sweet.

I just tried this at Lush the other day. Mostly it smelled camphorous, like band-aid, dental office, or embalming fluid (which would be funny-ironic for the name). It stayed like that for the life of the perfume so, pretty linear on me. I’m not sure what creates that smell aside from some authentic ouds-some of the Roja ouds had that smell. Needless to say, it didn’t work for me.

I bought this with high hopes last summer. The written description didn't quite live up to reality in the bottle, or on my skin, it was straight-up vetiver from start to finish. Puzzling to me, as this was the first time I'd ever experienced such a single-note emphasis from a Lush perfume. If you enjoy single note vetiver, go for it! I will pass.

I LOVE THIS SCENT!! It smells like vanilla, but not too sweet vanilla, it's a bit sour as well, it smells like The Experimenter by Lush.

I tried it blindly and i deeply regretted it for the last two+ hours, all the while trying to wash it off. It's rotting sweet, super strong, and soaks right into the flesh. I generally love vetiver, but here it abandoned me and i'm choked by vanilla olibanum and sandal. Please send help.

Greek church incense and vanilla scent. Not a scent I would enjoy year round but this is a very warm, soothing scent for winter and a nice Christmas scent. Very frankincense with a soft, vanilla-woody note.

I bought this in person and drunk - I didn't even look at the price and this is expensive for me, but I it is possibly the most exciting perfume I have ever smelt and worth the money, and the sneers from my husband who is actually the only person I know who dislikes it. I don't have a nose for notes, but I can tell you the following - The first spray in the Gorilla Islington shop smelt like walking into a packed night club, not a million years after they banned smoking in clubs - dry ice and a faint smokiness, mixed with a heady vanilla (probably the stuff the toilet lady tries to spray on you after you've been to the loo) Which sounds AWFUL, but it has this heady, lush quality to it - you're dressed up, you're with your gang and you've just walked into the start of an amazing night. You'll dance, you might get a decent snog and no one will cry (probably) It then became a dark, sticky pudding of sweetness which lingered for a long time. Sober, and at work that week, I had this in my backpack and thought 'Hell yeah I'll spray this despite the fact it's so blinking expensive - just the once' The response was insane, evoking the following scents and memories from my colleagues; oranges, popcorn, creme brulee, strawberries, a circus, candy floss, a party popper after its been popped and finally, a summer day at a fairground. A scent this special should be reserved for the right occasion to make maximum impact, but I can't help it, I want to wear it every day - I want this to be my signature.

whoooooaaa. in the manner of a smelling salt that wakes up a fainter, i think it might be called Stayin Alive, as it might prevent death if someone was on the verge. dense vanilla, smokey, resinous. culinary. smells like a vanilla brûlée type pudding that's had a vat of industrial strength vetiver stirred in. it's not unpleasant! but i find something about the mix jarring. i nearly said "jarring to my senses", then i realised i wasn't seeing, touching, hearing or tasting it - but it kind of feels like I am. interesting. full on. not Disco.

Stayin' Alive is one I can't decide if I like or not. It smells like a deep resinous vanilla, but once it hits my skin it goes almost milky. It starts to smell like a cup of black tea with vanilla and cream. Definitely not a bad scent by any means, but during a hot summer day the milky quality can be a bit much. Fantastic lasting power, it easily lasts for a day and a half on my skin.

If you like that woody vibe in Tom Fords perfumes e.g. Sahara noir, then this is worth trying. Smokey vanilla which lasts long and quite strong to begin with.
