Sun

This doesn't last for SHIT but my god does it make me happy... smells like orange juice being freshly squeezed right in front of you, the fruit plucked off the tree mere minutes ago. Lasts about 2 hours max on the skin but really you need to reapply every hour or so to enjoy those juicy top notes, and I think that's just the trade-off you have to make for such a "pure" citrus scent unfortunately. The ones with lasting power will have heavy-hitting mid and base notes (neroli, tonka bean, amber, etc) which ultimately detract from/muddy the olfactory experience - I imagine it's the reason why most of those Demeter fragrances don't last either. It's Lush's cheapest offering but I can't deny that it's expensive for how long it actually lasts... with all that said, I'm a fool who'll keep paying that price until I find a worthy replacement -- the term gets thrown around more often than I blink in a day but I truly think Sun is a photorealistic orange fragrance! I've tried A LOT of citrus perfumes in the decade or so since this hit the shelves and it's still the reigning champ in my eyes.

If someone asked me what an ripe orange smells like, this would be it! This isn’t orange candy, orange cake or orange blossom. It’s the smell of peeling a fresh orange and then bringing your fingers to your nose afterwards. Juicy, bitter and incredibly realistic. It captures the oils from the peel perfectly, that sharp burst that sprays into the air when you break the skin of the fruit. Nothing more, nothing less. I love it! It’s the perfect summer scent. A fragrance for sunshine, coffee with friends, and slow walks through the city. My only complaint, and it is a big one, is the longevity. Like a real orange, the experience is beautiful but fleeting. Perhaps, the scent of an actual orange lasts longer! I have to take the perfume with me, because it doesn’t last any longer than an hour.

So I made a wonderful discovery today... you want a longer lasting version of this? Le Labo The Matcha is your guy. The "bitter orange" note is SOOOO similar to Sun and lasts on my skin for several hours! There are trade-offs though, of course: the price being one (it's extremely expensive, no way of getting around that), but also it's woodier than Sun, and has a prominent fig note (one that is a little fruity but primarily more green, woody and creamy), but that orange note stands strong nonetheless. Of course you could just buy a 100ml of Sun and reapply multiple times, it'd work out cheaper still, but it's massively inconvenient to carry around a big bottle of perfume, and The Matcha lasts about 8 hours on me. Get a sample and see how it works for you!

This smells exactly like the label artwork: an orange lollipop that melted in the sun. Sounds a bit gross but its a really nice, fun, summery fragrance. Its quite a linear scent -just orange and mimosas on me, no hint of sandalwood - but that's what I love about it. Its perfect for days when I want a simple, straight-to-the-point scent (I find that simple scents are helpful when I'm stressed out and thinking of too many things. It helps clear my thoughts) plus, its great for layering! Sun is a great scent to layer on to Lush's Furze. Together they smell like my childhood summers :) My one complaint is the sillage: it stays very close to the skin!

I love citrus scents, but I often give scathing reviews of some terribly overpriced niche fragrances that only offer a ten-minute citric blast, and then dissappear forever, leaving you broke AND scentless. On the other hand, I am more than happy to praise Lush Sun for what it is - an extremely realistic orange & tangerine pairing. Citrus notes in general are known to be fleeting, however given Sun's affordable price and (almost) all-natural ingredients, it performs quite decently. I mostly use it for layering, but it also works quite nicely on its own.

Pure, unadulterated happy citrus joy. This smells incredible - juicy, sweet and uplifting. It reminds me of Sunny Delight and Jaffa Cakes, and I just want to slather it on. Lush Sun is lovely - I often reach for it when I'm feeling down, at any time of day, as I just find it calms me and helps me channel happier thoughts. Shame this perfect scent barely lasts ten minutes on me. Seriously - the longevity is dreadful, the weakest in my perfume collection by far. What a shame, as this really is a gorgeous scent.

I just wished it could last longer. I adore this perfume, so simple and magical. I devoured half of a 100ml bottle in a month! it's like a timemachine for me. I grew up with a bahia orange tree at my parents' house and the smell is exactly the same. It brings me back to the sunny, tedious afternoons of my youth, where I would sit in the garden praying for time to pass. And in a strange way, I miss that. Of having big dreams, of having the will, of wanting the impossible. Countryside folks will get it :)

Being an eau de cologne this doesn't stick around for long, but I've found it definitely helps to spray it on clothes as well as skin. It's light, refreshing & smells absolutely delicious! So much so, you'll want to keep spraying yourself with the zesty tangerine & orange juice anyway! The mimosa & sandalwood give it just a bit of something different & intriguing to make it unique. For the price (£40 for 100 ml) you can get carried away without worrying too much! I love it!

If this perfume has no fans, I've died. This was my first 'real' perfume and I couldn't have chosen a better one. This is the PERFECT citrus scent, not in the common lemon way, but the orange way- which I just LOVE. I wish the longevity were better, but this is what I think of when I think of summer. My first bottle is empty now but I'd repurchase this a million times and I pray to god they never ever ever discontinue this amazing perfume.

Probably my favorite bright citrus ever!! I should disclose I am a seasonal Lush employee but I feel like I have super picky tastes... for instance I am not a fan of a lot of the gorilla perfumes but this one... it is the sun in a bottle!! So citrusy and bright! The one thing I might complain about is thr silage but, this scent is energizing and uplifting for sure!

Simple citrus fragrance that smells like fresh orange juice, and not overly sweet, The Sun is the perfect name for this LUSH darling. I love its shiny brightness and cheerfulness, but it unfortunately doesn't last long. I tend to overspray this one to compensate and still, it fades very fast. Maybe that's a good thing sometimes.

A lot softer citrus than karma is. Karma screems oranges, sun is more soft. Clean. Just a little bit of sandalwood gives this a base that Holds a nicer gental Sumner feeling. Not overpowering, close to skin, on sunshine hot days this is refreshing. Nice summer scent and not obviously by lush. ,(Solid Fragrance review)

Smells like Orange Julius made while burning Nag Champa. When I spray 5-7 sprays on a casual shirt I get 3-5 hours performance. My issue is not so much the performance - as I really love the uniqueness of a Gourmand Citrus - but the sprayer. Lush sprayers are terrible and can’t manage a uniform spray.

Yummy if short-lived. I still agree with my previous review where I said I wouldn't buy this because of the poor longevity. However while it lasts- gosh is it beautiful! Heavenly natural orange and mandarin essences shining on a smooth sandalwood table. Idyllic.

For those of you who HATE a powdery note: fear not! No powder here; just juicy tangerines followed by a woody Sandalwood. Dee-lish! I bought this for my husband, but I've been sneaking it ;)

Lovely sweet orange opening! It just lights the mood up. I haven't got the sandalwood in the top, will give it a few hours and smell again. This is going to be one of my summer frags!

Mmmm kinda nice deffinatly not as in your face as karma. Softer but citrus is still main sent I'd say it's karmas little shy sister.

I have the solid perfume. It reminds me a bit of orange juice. But in a good, refreshing and juicy way.

I get way more tangerine than orange from it. Delicious but barely lasts 30 minutes.

Soooooo I do like this, but as others have said the longevity is abysmal. It is an eau de cologne so wasn't expecting too much but, for me at least, the citrus is gone within minutes, save an ever so faint reminder if I really press my nose in to where I've sprayed it. The sandalwood however sticks around for a few hours, but mainly as a skin scent. I really have to be actively smelling myself to pick it up, it is a lovely sandalwood though. It sticks around a bit better on clothes. I'm not sure if their oils change from batch to batch so for my batch atleast the sandalwood is nice and smoky. I have 4160 tuesdays "Smoky Midnight" and the sandalwood smell in both is very similar. Although 4160 Tuesdays is much, much stronger. It's as if the sandalwood in the re was taken out, diluted with a tonne of alcohol, peppered with a few drops of citrus and shoved in a new bottle and labelled "Sun" I don't pick up any mimosa, I had hoped I would as I love mimosa, maybe it comes through as just a hint of sweetness in the mix, but can't be discerned as an individual 'mimosa' note. Maybe it will come out to play unexpectedly sometime... I wouldn't pay full price for this perfume. I like colognes, as sometimes perfume can be too much for me, but this one is just so weak. It's a shame as it really is a nice smell, and the name "Sun" does fit it appropriately. If you can pick it up for a bargain price I would say to give it a try, spray liberally, make sure you get your clothes and your hair, and take it with you if you actually want to smell it during the day because you will likely need to reapply often!

Sometimes I love this with all my heart, other times I find it has an unpleasant rubbery aroma. I keep a bottle of it in my bag, it's the fragrance I have to rebuy the most so I guess it's doing something right. Fresh, light and breezy. It's good when you want a quick refresh or blast of something nice. It's totally gone on my skin after half an hour, but sometimes that's what you want. I have quite a few colognes rather than perfumes for that reason. It's not as intense as some colognes but has enough punch. I like that the base of this is natural, it shows and compares favourably with other colognes (some smell too much like cheap candles or home cleaning products). The solid isn't really worth it unless you are looking for a 100% natural fragrance. Find it too weak and the base ingredients of the solid formula change it too much. The old dropper bottles they used to do were pretty good because you could totally cover yourself in the stuff. I get the 10ml spray the most though. Almost all the gorilla volume 2 fragrances had labels that were off-puttingly bad. This is a rare one that looks OK. All in all this would be a good addition to anyone's scent library. It's about middle of the pack in terms of the lush/gorilla range. It's pretty unique and I'm glad it's around.

Sun features the most realistic orange note I've ever encountered in perfume, surpassing even Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine or Hermès Eau d'Orange Verte. It starts off zesty, reminiscent of peeling an orange, and then it smells as if some juice dripped onto my wrist while eating the fruit. It evokes specific memories for me of my dad eating his daily breakfast orange. The orange note remains dominant throughout, but subtle woody notes creep in, softening and grounding this scent. I get a faint hint of sweet florals, likely thanks to the listed mimosa note. It fades to nothing disappointingly but unsurprisingly quickly, given the fact that it's a citrus scent made from (presumably) natural ingredients. Sillage is moderate but longevity is weak, fading to nothing within two hours. An uplifting, radiant orange scent, Sun is best used in hot weather, or as an aromatherapy-style pick-me-up at any time. Comforting on two counts, being a happy, restorative citrus scent, as well as evocative of childhood memories for me (I'm finding the latter to be the case with an increasing number of Lush scents I try!). Perfectly unisex too. Simple but joyful, Sun is aptly named. 4/5.

This one is disappointing. To me it smells exactly like when you peel an orange or mandarin, which is a big plus, but kind of bad cause it doesn't smell complex at all (which I'm used to with Lush scents). So... that's not the main negative point, the biggest downside of Sun is the longevity and sillage because it is nearly zero (which isn't common for Lush). Maybe I got my one of a bad batch, since they are said to be handmade, I don't know, but considering the price(you would have to use the whole thing to have an effect) and the nearly zero endurance of Sun I wouldn't buy it again, I could simply buy an orange and got the same effects + vitamins. +great smell -nearly no sillage -nearly no longevity -the price -not complex (untypical for Lush)

A lovely scent, but it. just. won't. last. I have both the solid and spray-on perfumes, neither lasts more than an hour. I have tried combining the solid and liquid perfumes, spraying copious amounts, applying it with different lotions, putting it in damp hair along with my leave-in conditioner... Nothing works. It's been frustrating me to no end. It's a shame, really, because it's such a juicy, mouthwatering and fun perfume. The name is fitting, because the sun is never out for long (where I live). Having the solid perfume in my bag is the best use I've found for it, because despite the disappointing lack of longevity it's sometimes nice to apply some when I'm out and about. It has become a sort of self care ritual on-the-go.

NOOOO! I absolutely love this so much! It’s literally everything I could ever want in a citrus perfume, it’s so realistic and just smells like you’ve peeled open a fresh and juicy orange BUT IT DOESN’T LAST AT ALL! I have the mini bottle and I think it’s quite expensive to be spending £20 on a perfume that’s undetectable in under an hour on both clothes and skin... I still love it but idk if I’m willing to get a bigger bottle since you’ve definitely gotta overspray this and I don’t have the money to be doing that at the moment. I also just wanna add that layering it with the bare vanilla mist from Victoria’s Secret is a heavenly combo you should try out if you happen to have both.

this is the purest tangerine/orange scent i’ve ever smelled - literally as though you’re peeling one right in front of your face every time you spray it. unfortunately, it’s an outlier for lush, as you’re lucky if it lingers on the skin for an hour or so. if this had stronger longevity, it would be such a go-to of mine in the spring and summer, but i know how hard it is to formulate a long-lasting orange or tangerine note, let alone using it as the sole note in the fragrance, so i don’t really see it as lush’s failing, just a sad truth of the universe. i still like to spray this just to bring a smile to my face, even if i know it won’t follow me through the day.

Hmmm.... That's what I said when I anxiously opened up my pot of this for the first time. I am a fan of several of their scents (many of which either only come in soap form or have been discontinued), and while this does smell delicious and citrusy, after about a half hour, it has all but disappeared. I dig the fizziness, and the sandalwood notes. It most definitely smells closer to a kitchen fill of freshly squeezed orange rinds than anything I've known. I like to wear this in conjunction with something else, and I carry it with me to work and school and use it here and there to top up. It's subtle and fresh, and pleasant and inoffensive.

Lovely scent! But not a perfume but a cologne. There is a reason this 100 ml is 90$ USD. I see that a lot of reviews state that the longevity is lacking and I will say that Sun is an EDC (eau de cologne). This scent is not meant to last longer than 2 hours and it is meant to give a burst of freshness. This is a lovely after a shower or a hot day freshening up spray. I haven’t tried it in my hair or clothes yet (not sure it if will stain) to see if I can get more out of Sun. Layered with JPG Le Male Parfum and it was so bright.... then layered Sun with Burberry Goddess and it made the lavender refreshing.

A bright and juicy citrus scent, mouth watering and literal. Just like rubbing orange oil into your skin. Unfortunately unlike orange oil, this fragrance doesn't last very long. It sinks into the skin an hour or two after application and doesn't have the vivid projection that I would expect from a fragrance with a name like Sun. I also find myself searching for a lemon note that isn't there, which is just some wishful thinking on my part. I'd say it's worth buying the solid to use as a layering scent.

Love this!! I kept sniffing it over and over in the shop. They were out of the small size and I swore I wouldn't buy a giant bottle, but that's all they had and they didn't know when they would get more in! This really is sunshine in a bottle. It's like fresh squeezed orange juice! I knew this would be so fun and easy to wear in the summer that I had to have it. It's light and the sillage is minimal, but it just makes you feel happy. I think it's impossible not to like this!

This smells like a freshly sliced jaffa orange on a wooden table. Genuinely a delicious summer scent. It's simple and tasty - certainly works for both men and women (I would go wild for a man who smelt like this!) but sadly it has no longevity at all. I wear mine during the day when it's warm when I know I'm going out in the evening and will therefore be putting another perfume on later, since this one won't linger and interfere with my evening scents.

I only smelled this on a tester, but I was surprised at how photorealistic it was. It smells exactly like when you've been lying out in a sunny patch on a hot summer's day under an orange tree. There were some subtle floral notes but it was heavier on the citrus without coming off too zesty. It was definitely a beautiful scent but not a personal favourite, though I considered buying it for my mum. It reminded me of being on holiday in Sri Lanka.

If you miss Little Pot of Energy and don’t like the dry down of Hairdresser’s Husband, this could be a great scent to try. It starts out with a bright citrus kick, but it calms down quicker than Little Pot of Energy does. The tangerine makes it sweet without being too cloying. It’s a nice all-around scent, but I would definitely buy either Hairdresser’s Husband or Goddess before this.

This perfume makes me smell like an orange. And while some people might find this a problem, I really enjoy it. It is the perfect scent for a bright summer day, and makes me happy instantly. The sillage and longevity are quite poor, so you have to spray a couple of times a day. But then again, it's happy, and citrusy and summery, so recommended if you like this kind of scents.

Sun has an amazingly realistic citrus opening, bright, zesty and summery. If you closed your eyes you would think someone had just peeled an orange! I do wish the citrus notes stuck around a bit longer, but I like the gentle mimosa and sandalwood it settles into. As others have said, the longevity is poor and the scent is all but gone within 2 hours, which is a real shame.

The opening is so delicious and fresh, as if peeling an orange feeling the fibers pull and juice finely mist out, but as others have said the longevity is sadly lacking. I can only speak for the solid perfume form but the scent lingers intimately on the skin for 45 minutes before fading completely. However, I find that Sun layers wonderfully with Light Blue Forever.

My first perfume that wasn't a body spray from Bath and Body Works. It's sunshiney and intensely citrus-y, like orange peel smell (in a lovely way) and lasts a bit longer on my skin than some reviewers here. It's still not great on the longevity front but I don't actually need a scent to last all day.

No staying power is right. 2 hours for others is a generous amount of time, considering that on me, it doesn’t even stay for an hour :( it is beautiful though. It smells like I literally rubbed oranges on my wrists and neck. I will definitely try the vaseline trick to try and keep it staying longer.

The opening is beautiful. Very juicy and realistic citrus. Unfortunately it lasts only 5-10 mins and then the fragrance is gone completely. I have Karma and Pansy from Lush and they last on me for a very long time so I’m disappointed in Sun.

As Nebraska said, it's "simple and happy". That's all there is to it. Normal, inoffensive, fresh, authentic. Like a freshly peeled citrus fruit. It's quite sweet still. I won't be buying this, but it's a scent I will classify as "cute".

I've seen reviews saying this smells like orange juice and I totally agree! Since I absolutely love the smell of oranges, I have really taken to this fragrance. A real shame about the longevity though. It dies off after just one hour.

This reminds me of the Atelier Cologne Pomelo Paradis but for a much better price. I find the longevity to be the same, about 1-2 hours. I love the scent and would totally recommend it. for 100ml, £30 is a great price I think.

Not a frag I'd normally buy, but this is one for heatwaves. Watered down oranges, smells like Sunny D, you'd want to drink it if you were thirsty. Perfect also for people who don't really like perfume, just like to freshen up.

exactly like peeling open an orange or grapefruit, so calm and low key, perfect mood booster on a warm day (or a cold one that you wish was warm!) + I sometimes use it as a room spray

A pretty uplifting sweet juicy citrus and sandalwood fragrance. It doesnt project that much but it does last well. I have the solid form of this sunlit fragrance.

Realistic grapefruit / pomelo smell, not so much orange for me, at least in the opening. A bit sweet, like a juicy ripe fruit.

My first thought on wearing Sun was that it reminded me of Christmas & tucking into oranges & tangerines etc. Yum.

Fizzy tangerine mineral water, as a other reviewer described this scent, pretty much sums it up
