Superworld Unknown

I absolutely love this perfume but understand how it really isn't for everyone. Personally, I first picked it up because I grew up with my mum wearing insolence by guerlain nonstop and the neroli citrusy rose notes in this make me feel like I'm wearing my own younger iteration of her favourite scent hahaha... As someone who usually hates sweet smelling perfumes, this one hits completely different. When you first spray it, the citrus really comes through like lemonade but it settles into a really irresistible escapist scent. It takes you away completely from where you are and personally makes me feel like I'm incredibly excited and laughing with friends after we've just hopped a fence and snuck into a festival. If you're not a fan of sweet scents don't let that stop you! I find only the cocoa brings the sweetness and even then its quite grounding and doesn't hit you in the head like vanilla does. The ylang ylang definitely attributes to the imaginative vibe with this! Definitely not a lowkey scent though! Every time I wear this people point it out and I love it :-) Also reminds me of lemonade by sophie if it were a perfume...... I put it on every time I want to forget about my responsibilities !

One of my all time favourite Lush Perfumes, I used to own the old style bottle about 9 years ago which didn’t have a spray nozzle and although it was difficult to apply I appreciated the scent. Now I have the spray version I can smell the notes a lot better and have fallen in love even more. It opens with a fresh sherbety lime which settles with the Cocoa and Rose. A truly unique fragrance that is addictive. It’s sweet but has many layers and has the complexity that a lot of sweet fragrances lack. It’s very heady so probably more suited to cool summer days, the scent is strong and lingers a clothing for days. There’s something about this fragrance that is nostalgic and brings me cheer everytime I smell it. After a while it smells very similar to 29 high street perfume from Lush. Applied heavily this does have a “cleaner” type smell, but the freshness soon dies down and the beautiful lime, rose and benzoin shine through. This and “All good things” are my favourite fragrances from that time and I would love to find a fresh bottle of that to alternate with this in the autumn months.

This is quite a unique smell. It's very hard to describe, but for me, it smells initially of lime and citrus, but then it softens into a bit of a sweet and sandalwood-y scent. The website describes it as "candy-floss", but I think that's misleading because it's not really that sweet. It's slightly sweet, but not like sugar. The scent to me is quite effervescent, if that makes sense. It's like 7-Up meets sandalwood. Ok, that sounds weird, but it's hard to describe. Let's just say, it works. It smells like nothing I have ever smelled in my life. I really do like it. I was excited to finally get my hands on some since I live in the USA. EDIT: I've realized two things about this scent: 1.) It really does grow on you after a while 2.) It could really be unisex

This perfume is made with high quality natural ingredients. LUSH should be able to charge a higher price. I didn't have the experience I imagined when I heard about the amusement park. But it does have a nostalgic scent like the candy from my childhood. It's difficult to wear this fragrance in the middle of a summer day. If you wear it in summer, the evening is more suitable. I learned the news about the end of sales. I would like it to be restocked.

First spritz I was full of regret as a lime/alcohol concoction overpowered my senses. But it dried down to a lovely sandalwood limeade and by the end of the day smelled like powdery incense and citrus candy on my skin. Love love love. So glad I got a bottle, I'm sure I'll have wished I got two if it's going to be another 10 years before I see it again. edit: for Lush fans, the opening and beginning of it smells very similar to Calacas on my skin

I'm obsessed with this. Love the fresh blast of lime in the beginning, then what smells *exactly* like salted fried dough to me (at least it smells just like my Gateau de Carnavale from Kyse) and then a powdery very light rose at the end. Incredible staying power on me, I still smell it 12 hours later which on my skin is pretty impressive. I wanted a fresh but sweet gourmand-ish scent and that's what this is.

Superworld Unknown is hands down my favorite scent , so multi faceted and a gem in my collection everyone should give this a try and enjoy the beauty this perfume is . Unfortunately I heard this is being discontinued....

This is one limey bastard! I don't know what circus/theme parks are like in Britain, but this product doesn't smell like an American one. "Superworld Unknown" is really weird and the product keeps changing the longer I've had it. I never got much of the sweet candy scent mentioned, to me it was just mainly lime, and a soft, sweetish, masculine powdery wood smell. Very unusual fragrance. Weird in the same way "B Scent" is. Not unpleasant, just weird. Edit: Oh my gosh, I feel bad for giving this such a wishywashy review on the Lush website! My solid has aged amazingly! So much so I had to hunt down the liquid on ebay, and amazingly, was lucky for once in my life and acquired some! Lush definitely has a way of making your sense of smell evolve. I was so mad initially that this didn't smell like a sibling of Snow Fairy, but I can appreciate it so much more now. It's definitely the older, more sophisticated sibling! If you do a bath cocktail of Creamy Candy bubblebar, Enchanter bathbomb, and Happy Thoughts bath melt you get an approximation of Superworld Unknown. In my opinion, anyway! ;)

This perfume is difficult to understand lol. At first you get a lot of sour zesty citrus notes (a lot of lime which reminds me of Zesty/Calacas) you‘d say you‘re wearing a citrus scent. But no, then it turns into a woody aromatic sandalwood scent which reminds me for some reason of Smuggler‘s Soul. It‘s almost a little bit spicy? When it settles down, that blends with a sweet vanilla/tonka musky powdery base and smells a little bit like candy floss. It changes a lot. It‘s very unique and I like it but it‘s not my favourite. Too many different elements, it changes like a chameleon lmao. But like I said it‘s a playful fragrance I wear here and then. I‘m very happy I have it in my collection though. Also it reminds me a little bit of Love, both of these have a fruity apple note in them. But man, you really have to sit down and really try to understand it because it always smells so different haha! The sillage is great, it‘s not overpowering!

You know those girls in Harajuku who dress like life-sized creepy dolls? Imagine a perfume for one of them who has come to her senses, lost patience with the excessive daily grooming, and decided to get a degree in botany. This is her perfume. First off I get lime and a slightly yeasty smell, then a mild woody rose and a creamy lemon, which is a nice trick if you can do it. The biggest and nicest surprise was the next phase, which was strawberry. Yeasty bread dough strawberry! How do you not love that? Very decent longevity with a dry down of greenish powder. Our girl wears this when she's taking a night off from her Latin binomials to go out and drink beer with her friends.

I work at Lush and only got this as it was getting written off and no one else wanted it. I was prepared for the worse, and the description of a sweet and tart fragrance makes no sense in this case. Superworld Unknown smells like a sour sort of church cellar. The whole tangy-sweet, circus vibe is null and void. It's odd like the Marquis de Sade scent by Etat Libre D'orange with a soda quality to it. The version that I'm catching is weird in a niche way, but my bottle is years old so it's past that marination period.

This is a very lovely lime based fragrance. Impressed with how the lime has been made to have staying power here, and the combination of lime with tonka & benzoin creates this - well, otherwordly- juxtaposition of what is essentially such a fundamentally fresh note par none with soft sweetness. Its a curious composition that works. Bright green lime with soft amber, out of this world candy. Unique. Lime ice cream waffle cone.

At first whiff, this kind of just smells like soap. But if I close my eyes, I can imagine walking through the woods at night, heading towards the carnival lights in the distance, with happy music faintly and something sweet carrying across the night air. For me, ylang ylang added into any fragrance gives it an enchanted, ethereal vibe. If nothing else, its really wearable as a daytime, spring/summer perfume imo

This is s strange, but not wholly unpleasant scent. Starts out pine/citrus fresh, like a cleaner or a bug repellent, but morphs into something more like fruity sweets/bubblegum. Nice, but not something I'd wear very often.

This smells like lime candy sweets! Very sweet and somewhat 'fizzy' to me, a good scent for youthful personalities of all ages.

I got the solid version cheap on ebay. I was able to gaslight myself into thinking this smells like sherbet but there is no candy floss or toffee apples. If you are looking for gourmand I'd try something else. You may be able to gaslight yourself into thinking it smells like sherbet if you try tho.

I wanted to really like you, Superworld Unknown. I was recommended this by a worker after testing some & seeing this, being lured in by it's descriptors of gourmands & tart-ness. There is no hint of any sort of gourmand. Nadda. None. It just smelled like another bland overtly-crowded floral to me, really. Which by it's note list on here, makes sense. Really disappointing considering I was looking forward to it's cocoa-lime notes.

I have to write a new review for this one. It smells very medicinal, not feminine...smells like pine and a bit Jean Nate, and it is NOT what I remember! Not what I thought it would be!! I am NOT sure which Lush product a had before, maybe Karma? Superworld Unknown does NOT work for me. WAY too odd. Superweird Unknown.

Review for the Kitchen May 2023 solid perfume version: sadly I thought I would like it but I don ́t. Okay at first but after an hour or so it ́s kind of old lady sweet and floral on my skin.

It smells like medicine. Blind bought and really regret it. This is not a fragrance !!! It's like herbs in oil .... and so masculine

I managed to buy the solid version of this perfume on eBay for less than £7 incl p&p. At first I liked it, but as it has settled, all I can smell is Raid insect killer! Such a shame! I really hoped I would love it from the notes & description, but on my skin it's Raid & I just can't get that out of my head now! I'm so glad I paid very little for it! UPDATE: Ok, so this kept calling me back to it so I decided to give it another go (during the UK's current September 2023 heatwave!). I have the fans on & the whiffs of this perfume wafting around the room...... & have fallen in love with it! It is the perfect not too sweet, not too floral, not too musky perfume that kind of satisfies my scent desire for times I don't want anything too much of anything, if that makes sense?! I love it so much now that I've ordered myself the 100ml bottle (new but second hand! At a very reasonable price). I can't wait to receive it & start wearing it 😁 Will be updating when I have tried it! UPDATE: I have been using the EDP & it's wonderful! So enticing & addictive!😀 A couple of sprays & I am still able to smell it on my skin the next day! That's better longevity, on me, than any other perfume or body spray from LUSH! With this perfume, it's best to just spray it, enjoy the initial blast of lime & then let it do its thing, without thinking about the description that LUSH gives it, because it really doesn't describe the scent very well at all! That blast of lime btw is not like the Calacas lime, here it's essential oil lime, fresh, tart, zesty, mouth- watering lime. If you can go into it with an open mind, aware of the ingredients but just taking it for what unfolds, rather than waiting for the carnival/circus, toffee apples & candy floss to appear, you may be surprised at how lovely this perfume is. Yes, it can smell a bit like a bug spray, but give it a chance to come to life, because the dry-down is a sweet floral that makes me want to go "mmmmmmmmm" ☺️ If anything, I do wish the dry-down could have been stronger. I've been on a mission to buy as many of the solids (from the kitchen box) as I can find on eBay & Vinted lol because even the solid lasts a good while on my skin too! I bought myself some tins, like the retro 12g solid perfume tins, & am transferring the solid perfume into those, as they are easier to use than the small-mouthed 6g jars 🥳 Update: Can't wear this now since having COVID 😞

Lush SUPERWORLDUNKNOWN has the same strong citrus oil facet as most of the other perfumes of this line. Fortunately, it is tempered and tamed here by the presence of sweet notes, including cocoa, but also tonka or vanilla, it seems to me. These sweet elements help to smooth out the rough edges of the citrus oil, which I personally find pretty difficult to wear as a straight-up perfume. I have a large sample set of the Lush perfumes which I've been slowly meandering through, trying to be as fair to them as possible in reviews, but I have to confess that I only test them when I have a bath on the horizon. They're just too intense! Never one to complain about excellent longevity and mega-sillage, the problem I find with the Lush citrus oils and base is that they seep into one's pores and all the way into the marrow of one's bones. Well, that's how they feel anyway. In my experience, the only other house with perfumes as penetrating as these may be Serge Lutens. My sense, however, is that the Lutens perfumes have been much more thoughtfully composed. It may be that I am prejudiced against this whole flurry of 2010-2011 Lush multi-launches, but I do find them pretty difficult to take seriously as perfumes. To be perfectly frank (quoi d'autre?) I am not even impressed with the alleged masterpiece of this house, BREATH OF GOD, and I felt vindicated somewhat to learn that it was the perfumer's very first perfume! Well, that's another story... Back to SUPERWORLDUNKNOWN. Here we have the Lush base plus the Lush citrus accords with their usual frontal assault on olfactory receptors, but then the cocoa-tonka (or whatever) sweeps in like a deus ex machina to save the whole composition from disaster by muting the nosehair-singing effect of the citrus oils. Those listed among the ingredients of this particular perfume are lemon, lime, and neroli oil. Rose absolute is listed way down in the list somewhere, and thankfully this composition does not appear to contain the killer lemongrass oil favored by this perfumer. The overall effect gestures toward gourmand territory and might call to mind vague memories of the house of Lolita Lempicka, but the Lush base abides like a fingerprint, marking this perfume as a Simon Constantine creation. Nonetheless, all things considered, this smells pretty good--for the "house" of Lush.

Citrus oils, herbs and vanilla... What an interesting perfume! I really love these kinds of creations by Lush . I can tell that the ingredients here are of a high quality. The neroli oil here is bright and very zesty! As is the petitgrain and juniper, this gives a very sharp top and middle that shines like bright sunlight on a summer's day at the beach. Then there is a background of sandalwood and vanilla to give depth and round it off with character. In a nutshell, the whole perfume screams "Fun"! I am not disappointed by this one and I enjoy wearing it. It's almost like a 1960's feature in technicolor. I see what Simon Constantine was goign for when he mentioned the smell of "Lemon Sherbets", a boiled lemon and sugar sweet which is very zesty and bright. The development into the vanilla drydown phase is welcome and adds a further gourmand, sweeter aspect in the vein of Guerlain - Shalimar . In fact, there is more than a passing resemblance to that perfume here, except here the citrus has been turned up to full volume, and the vanilla is a background player. Overall, I highly recommend this fragrance as a bright, positive and uplifting (yet artificial) experience. I say this because this is not a perfume that is imitating nature, but rather man-made wonders, like electricity, pop music and technology. Things which give us joy but which we created, for ourselves. Still, it gives me a kick wearing this quirky perfume. Great stuff!

the review below saying it's like a technicolour 90's pop dream is so accurate!! right off the bat, it's magnificently zingy and spicy, almost so much it feels artifical, like some kind of intense cleaning soap. I don't mind it actually, it's such a Lush thing - the overpowering sweet citrus. but after it dies down (takes an hour or so) it becomes this super sweet honey like scent, the other reviews say they don't see the candyfloss, but i actually think candyfloss describes this perfectly!! It becomes warm and syrupy, exactly like the toffee candies you have all over your sticky fingers as a kid in awe at the circus on a damp grassy night with the warm (spicy) summer night breeze blowing. There are so many layers to this perfume, and time unfolds each like a flower and it's so much fun to wear! Insanely intense though, so you do have to bear through the initial spray haha. I wore this both day and night, and in the day I really smell the citrus as the main notes, whereas at night, it's the syrupy rose and cocoa that really come through, or maybe it's just because those notes stay closer to the skin and I can't help sniffing at myself at home, it makes me want to gobble myself up. Really love love love

I might have missed the carnival. This reminds me of a recent perfume I've tried recently: Abaton's Chinotto Gourmand, which features a prominent, pithy Italian citrus and has a fresh powdery soapiness with a vanilla-caramel base. I didn't like that one so much because it's an odd juxtaposition with what they were going for. Soapy, powdery, citrussy, and gourmandy? With Superworld Unknown, I get something similar with the tart Amalfi lemons, herbaceous shower-fresh soapiness and I think, the vanilla, which thankfully or not, doesn't seem to be projecting much on my skin. But if I am following this script, I can say I've smelled something similar found within Chinotto Gourmand. Chinotto Gourmand however, is way up in the lofty ethers of Italian soaps, powders, citrus, and that oddly placed vanilla-caramel, whereas Superworld Unknown remains a little more tethered to the earthly plane thanks to Lush's unmistakable signature smokiness (tonka bean) which manages to hold down the loftier aspects of this perfume from going too high up in the heavens into the truly unknown category. I'm not sure what I was hoping for with SU, but I haven't gotten the lime candies, waffle cones, cakes yet.

Lush Superworld Unknown is easily one of my favourites from the Lush exclusives range. It features a beautiful, crisp lime accord, further complimented by some unexpected warm and balmy notes. You've got to love this fragrance's unique approach. It opens with a sweet citrus blast, however the drydown consisting of benzoin, vanilla, tonka bean and sandalwood takes this fragrance in a totally different direction. Superworld Unknown is a relatively smooth blend of ingredients, one that strikes me as being more warm than fresh. It is indeed a unisex fragrance, however on my skin it smells quite feminine. For a Lush scent, Superworld Unknown is surprisingly soft, not a sillage bomb in any shape or form. In other words, it's very easy to wear. The rose, ylang ylang and black locust accords are fairly non-existent on my skin. Superworld Unknown smells predominantly of green citrus and spicy-sweet woods and resins. Superworld Unknown lasts for around six hours on my skin, and has light projection. It's one scent from the exclusive Lush series that I keep going back to. Great for all seasons and a pleasant composition overall. I do recommend.

I really love lush and their products, but most of the perfumes in the gorilla line are just too strange to wear. Superworld unknown is one of them. It make me nauseatic. Honestly. It's an odd mix of benzoin, bug repellent and herbs in my opinion. As others have stated, it has nothing to do with candy floss, and candy floss is what i had hoped for. The only lush fragrances i enjoy are Vanillary and Imogen Rose. I love love love the smell of American Cream though! Wish it was a regular perfume in the line, not such an exclusive forum potion.

-Innocuous powdery/musky citrus that manages to retain citric brightness throughout; instead of having its brightness dulled down a few notches with the accompanying notes. -Refreshing without becoming D&G light blue-ish lemon cleaner. -Similar scent profile to Shalimar, but way more toned down and suitable for a younger crowd. -Inoffensive scent that would make a good school/office fragrance, I suppose. -Even haters of powdery scents would be hard-pressed to find this offensive. (-)

Lush perfumes are very subjective to the wearer's chemistry. I only like this on me on certain days. When it's right, the cacao and fizzy fruit remind me of Thierry Mugler's Angel, only less complex. When it's bad, it's synthetic and plastic.

Kind of like Chemical burning polystyrene with citrus toilet cleaner and effervescent sherbet sorbet ....cloying ...but oddly fascinating in a big sweet shop cotton candy way .🚽🧫🧪🍋🟩🍋🍬🍭

Smells exactly like avon's soft pink bubble bath. No other description required :)
