The Comforter

just received mine today and i love it! had to buy it from Mercari because it’s been out of stock on the official site for a while now, but it was worth the search. smells exactly like the bubble bar—bubblegum sweetness, creamy vanilla, and potent blackcurrant! blackcurrant seems to be a universally polarizing aroma, and the haters will say it smells like ammonia, but i say that’s what makes blackcurrant such a uniquely beautiful fruit accord! the animalic edge gives it something very distinct and singularly addictive. i’m not crazy about fruity body spray, especially if it comes across as a sort of ambiguous blend of the whole cornucopia. Comforter is special, and the combination of blackcurrant and bergamot makes it particularly delicious, like some kind of spectacular sorbet. i imagine many would find this fragrance wildly sexy, especially because of the slightly animalic quality that gives it its depth. it’s much more than just a body spray, and its potency makes for an incredible steal at $30/200 mL. i love the spray bottle mechanism!

What I get from this is a warm and sweet blackcurrant ribena with a hint of vanilla and lemon - I love it! I bought it today I am planning to wear this in the evenings at home and to spray onto my bedsheets as it is just so cozy!!!! If you like fruity, sweet, syrup-y and gourmand scents like me, this is for you. I also think this is an all year round fragrance as the warm berry notes would be suitable during cold weather and the slight citrus notes makes it light enough for hot weather. I’ve never used lush’s fragrances before but I am already very impressed by the longevity and projection! I sprayed a tester onto myself when buying it today and on the way home I bumped into a friend who instantly complimented me and said how he could smell it from when he got onto the bus! It’s been about 5 hours and I can still smell it strongly! If you can’t handle extremely sweet scents then this is not the fragrance for you.

my favourite lush fragrance and dare I say one of the best.. amongst the other lush body sprays, I’d have to say this is one of their best scents along with let the good times roll and avo co-wash. I immediately fell in love with this fragrance at first sniff and the longer I wear it, the more I fall in love. it starts off with a fresh yet slightly creamy blackberry with hints of mint scent at first, then it settles into an addictive candied grape-blackberry hi-chew scent which lasts on clothes forever. I sprayed the tester on me to do a wear test and within seconds, I received a compliment - one thing about this body spray it is definitely a compliment getter! It definitely isn’t considered a ‘stinky’ body spray but refreshing and sweet. stays close to your skin yet projects well, if that makes sense

I fell in love with this scent when I smelled it inside lush for the first time, it's such an accurate blackcurrant fragrance and one that I've been looking for for a longggg time! It opens intense, rich, and sugary than dries softer and more delicately sweet. As many other people have said it sort of dries down to a vanilla ice cream note and it's absolutely amazing. It reminds me of sugared or frosted berries during the wintertime, and it's the perfect winter/fall scent for me!! My only concern is that it doesn't last super long, it usually wears on me for about 4-5 hours but I also may just be scent blind by the end of the day. If you want a unique and lovely berry centered gourmand this would be the one for you!!

This has been my go-to scent for all of my Lush bath products. I was hesitant to try the body spray because I was afraid it wouldn't live up to my love of the bath products. Luckily, the body spray smells EXACTLY like all the other Lush bath products in The Comforter line. I've even received compliments while wearing it out and about but it's not overpowering. Honestly, this perfume smells like 99% blackcurrant and I barely smell the other notes. But that's fine with me, because I adore the scent of blackcurrant and The Comforter has the most photorealistic blackcurrant scent I've ever smelled. I wear this day and night, but I especially love spritzing it on my sheets before bed because it's, well, comforting.

Every time I spray this it fills up the room with the scent.I received many compliments on it,but I bought as it was recommended by a lovely Lush employee as the closest thing they had to Snow Fairy. I was sceptical at first seeing the notes on Fragrantica,and to be honest,it isn’t very similar to Snow Fairy besides the gorgeous vanilla ice cream dry down note not listed on here. First you will smell the blackcurrant and that signature something that every Lush scent has,then the cassis and cypress,but after some time those notes fade and the dreamy vanilla ice cream stays.I do not smell the cat pee note many report smelling.Long lasting,very comforting to me and I recommend it :)

So fun and pretty! This smells like the colour pink as a fragrance. It’s sweet, juicy blackberry candy and just so easily likeable. It’s not as polarising as other Lush scents and is such a compliment getter. If you like sweet fruity scents this is perfect for you! I believe it’s one of the cheaper Lush body sprays but for me it’s definitely up there as one of the best, and just like other Lush fragrances, the performance is incredible too. It’s a simple scent and quite one dimensional, but that’s perfect for some days and not every scent needs to be super complex and have loads to it.

The bubble bar version of this is definitely less complex than the body spray! I bought this for a present for a friends birthday who only likes sweet, fruity scents, but after smelling it in store I had to buy myself one! It does have a green smell in the background that reminds me of freshly cut flower stems or the smell when you walk into a florist, but the sweet blackcurrent is what you smell the most. Everyone’s nose is different but I can’t smell the cat urine smell others have noted! This is a wonderfully sweet fragrance that’s not just one note.

This is the first time smelling anything from this line and oh boy I'm in love. The very first spray I actually hated this. It was so strong and smelled like children's toothpaste. But the drydown is heavenly. It smells like a freshly baked blackcurrant pie with powdered vanilla sugar sprinkled on top. I don't even get any bergamot or fresh notes here, just cozy fruity sweetness. I was so impressed by this scent that I had to run back to the shop (after buying twilight) and buy this spray too. Beautiful

This is one of my favorites from Lush! It's smells divine! Hoping Lush will do a perfume version of it as well. Sweet, tangy Blackcurrant galore. My nose does not get any cat pee smell (I have seen some people commenting about it). You have to be in a mood for it, though, because it can be a bit overwhelming. I must buy the body wash as well! Oh, and I saw a comment here that said they thought it smelled like the "pink/white Malaco foam mushroom candies", and that is spot on for me as well :)

Amazing, exciting and fruity scent! Smells like blackcurrant jam with a hint of herbs, it's very comforting. It has a strong sillage as I heard from people who could smell it when I entered a room. When I spray it three times it the smell stays on my skin for the whole day. My clothes also keep the aroma for a long time, even for days. It became my go-to everyday scent. I highly recomment it as it's a steal for this quality!

Smells exactly like the bubble bar. I no longer have access to a bath so this spray lets me live vicariously through it. It's just plain ol' blackcurrant. I adore this spray. I mainly use it as a room spray as that's what one of the lovely lush employees told me. I don't get how people get cat pee from this and I should know what cat pee smells like as I have 5 cats and one just loves peeing on everything I own.

This has been a favorite of mine for 15+ years, since I was a teenager. It's absolutely addictive to me and I can't get enough of it. I wouldn't call this a green fragrance. I would say it's primarily sweet, then fruity, with just a little green in the background. I, for one, don't understand at all how people get cat pee from this. I just get cassis and marshmallow. A very soft and comforting scent indeed.

Undoubtedly berry, sweet, citrusy..and I get a hint of mint. It reminds me of snow fairy but without the bubblegum note. So many people said it would smell like cat pee or pee in general but my nose and everyone around me is smelling natural berries. It is a very inviting and sweet and comforting scent. I pair it with the bar soup but only wish there was a lotion or massage bar.

SO GOOD! I always loved The Comforter bubble bars - completely obsessed with the scent. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw they was selling it as a spray! The bottles still stay in with Lush's theme and the spray will usually coat your whole neck in one spritz! If you love The Comforter products for their scent, you'll already love this!

Definitely my "pick-me-up" scent! Hard to have a bad day when you smell like candy. I love wearing it with with leggings and a big sweatshirt, just as the name suggests, big comforter vibes! I will say, its SUPER strong at the beginning of the day, but it dries down to a comfortable silage and lasts all day for me.

Onto my second bottle of this - it's my absolute go-to! It's just total black currant, maybe a hint of parma violets too? basically just the colour purple in a bottle! Perfect for those who like the smell of fruity sweets. I'm always getting compliments on this one. Will definitely be buying it again and again.

I love it. Smells like a candy store. Like red frogs. It's a very 'pink' smell. I spray it on my hair and it sticks all day. I get compliments on it. I find it very cute and quirky. Very juicy.

I wanted to smell like a ribena berry, now i'm just as jolly!

Ever since I tried Moschino Toy 2 Bubble Gum, I have been thinking I should get a bottle as I really liked the bubble gum. Now that I have the Comforter I know I don't need Toy 2 as this is a whole different level! Amazing mouth-wateringly burst of juicy yumminess that I just fell in love with! The comforter super fresh and sweet scent which is an absolute mood lifter and perfect for gloomy days. I don't think the bottle will last me long as I am obsessed with it! I would wear it all the time but don't want to associate it with work so will probably keep it just for my days off. It is not a complex or sophisticated scent but it doesn't need to be. I always wondered when people say "perfect for when I don't know what to wear" and now I get it. When I don't feel like anything of my wardrobe I can just spray this and it is perfect! Love it!

I looooove black currant. And I love this spray but ... it tends to get heady and acidic on drydown (cat pee to some- smells like BO to me?) so I always layer it with my cotton candy body fantasies spray, lol. In my sophomore year of high school I did an exchange trip to France, and my host family took me to a hard candy store in the countryside. Smells exactly like that, fruity, somewhat bitter, not too sticky.

This makes everything smell like Ribena lol, I sprayed a tester and put it in my bag and there was still a huge cloud of blackcurrant for hours and hours and hours. I love this scent-wise, but it's probably not the most versatile fragrance because of how enormous the projection is (and it doesn't seem to mellow out - like, at ALL - for the entire day after spraying!)

So yes, it opens up with cat pee. Don't give up. Cassis/blackcurrant scents often have a pissy opening in my opinion. Give it 15 minutes on your skin and it will dry down to being identical to the Comforter bubble bars. Creamy, bubble gummy, blackcurrant-grape powdery dessert. It's very good, just be patient.

SUUUUPER strong blackcurrant smell like straight undiluted squash. its nice if you like black current (I do not) but it is just blackcurrant no other notes. strong sillage and lasts forever!!! its good for cosy times but kind of gives me a head ache because its sickly sweet.

Smells exactly like the bubble bar. It opens with a very strong cough sweet blackcurrant scent, and although it’s not listed in the notes a really nice ice-cream/vanilla scent in the dry down. The longevity, projection and sillage is great as with all Lush sprays.

To me this smells pretty close to the bar soap that I got recently and thought it smelled like these pink/white malaco foam mushroom candies. The spray is maybe a little sharper or more sour in a way (blackcurrant) but it's not a huge difference honestly.

its so weird that the notes listed here are cassis and cypress, i dont get that at all! i get gourmand, marshmallow, cotton candy, salted caramel, and the bergamot. almost bought it but the dry down was just a little too boring for me.

Very lollipop, bubble gum, sweet and fruity kind of smell. Don't need a lot of it to really feel it - can be a bit overpowering in the beginning. Serotonin boost kind of a scent, though, so it's forgiven :)

A few other reviews have also said it but it truly does smell like Ribena. Though I don't think I really see it as a cough syrup-esq, it does smell like the juice concentrate and not the mixed drink.

This smells like an IKEA and that’s a compliment. It’s a huge attention grabbing scent that dries out nicely. It’s pretty girly and smells like blackberries. I’m a big fan!

I don't own the body spray, but I do have the body wash. A lovely smell, like blackberry bramble syrup but I wouldn't say it's ideal as a perfume

Smells like Ribena. Like a blackcurrant syrup or sorbet. If you ever want to smell like ribena, this would be perfect.

Smells like cat pee then settles into juicy berries and bubblegum

This one actually smells like those boysenberry gummy lollies with the cream on the bottom of them. This body spray smells quite playful and edible. 🍬🍇 After purchasing this one after liking how it smelt in store, I looked at reviews of people saying it smelt like cat piss and I was so worried. Thankfully, I found it doesn’t smell like cat piss smell at all. I even made my whole family smell this and they all agreed it didn’t smell like cat piss and it just smells like lollies. I do think I’m a bit scared to wear this one in public I’m case other people think it smells like cat piss as everyone’s perception of smells are different.. I would have enjoyed this body spray a lot more if it didn’t have that weird earthy note in the background, I can’t figure out which note it exactly is. I think maybe it’s the cypress. It’s quite strong in the opening but once this dries down it’s not as strong. Comparison to Snow Fairy by Lush: Both Comforter and Snow Fairy has something in common; they both smell like lollies. 🍬🍬 Both body sprays don’t smell the same of course or even similar really...Comforter is more black current focused while still smelling like lollies, It also has that earthy note in background. Snow Fairy has more of a bubble gum, fairy floss lolly smell to it. I like the smell of Snow Fairy more as I dislike that earthy smell in Comforter. Score: 7/10 - good longevity and silage, would have enjoyed this more if it didn’t have that earthy note in the background. I would not repurchase this one even though I don’t hate it.

Thanks god the scent is alright, I ordered it and prayed that none of you were right. But the disturbing thing that I have to agree with, is that sour note. NOT like cat pee but more a greenish note? At the beginning it's like a green leaf mix with cassis, it fades into blackcurrant chewy candy, cute. Sadly I dislike green notes so It's not my favourite... But I'm glad (I have 3 cats and heavily TRAUMATIZED by cat pee.) Well I'm glad it's not as bad. Honestly, I'm happy it smell exactly like the accords, a very green and earthy blackcurrant, quite sweet and also minty like. It's like running through a forest and eating blackcurrant while having a lollipop in the bag. I just wish it was less green and more sweet !

This smells veeeery much like Blackcurrant/black berries! I really loved it when I first got it, but it became a bit sickly- even in rotation. It's a really loud scent, straight to the point. I think it's good for hot days due to it's power and freshness. It does remind me of a nice cold glass of squash. I wouldn't personally buy it for myself again, but It would be nice to smell on someone else in passing. It has a youthful/energetic element to it! I mean.. I'm only 26, so I feel like yeah I am on the cusp of being appropriate for it. But I'd say it's more suited and of interesting to younger people OR fans of fruit smells.

enjoyed it until a colleague pointed out it smells like ribena and/or cough sweets and that’s all i could think of afterwards. did one (1) spray in our office as a colleague wanted to try it and the lobby smelled of it for half an hour. it’s nice but very linear to me. exchanged it for a different spray.

This smells like I spillt some ribena on myself and it dried and went all sticky.

I would love this if it smelled like the bubble bar-- and it does, initially, all bubblegum sweetness and fruity delight. But I'm afraid that a lot of the reviewers are correct when they say this smells like cat pee after the drydown. I spent a year working at an animal shelter, and there is a very unfortunate undertone of cat urine present in this fragrance that mentally brings me back to that environment. Maybe it's not obvious to people who are used to the ammonia smell of unneutered male cat pee. But female / neutered male cats have a different odor to their urine which is replicated perfectly in this fragrance. I don't know how or why. Maybe the cassis or the cypress clashes with the blackcurrant in a way that makes the molecular structure of the perfume shaped similarly to the molecular structure of cat pee? Maybe that's why not everyone can smell it, like the cilantro-tasting-like-soap thing? In any case, I was in complete disbelief when I smelled this for the first time. It was disappointing and a bit shocking.

Loved it when I tested it in store, but have ended up hating it after trying to wear it on multiple different occasions and inevitably rushing to the nearest sink to wash it off of my skin. When I tested it I sprayed it on a test card and it smelled very much like the described notes, very sharp (in a good way) and overwhelmingly like cypress which I loved. The experience of trying to wear it on my skin has been exactly the same as described by a few others here; Initial spray smells of cat piss (I get urinal cake, too) and then the dry down is sickly sweet. None of the cypress, cassis, or bergamont comes through. It smells like a dessert that's gone off to me, and kind of like trash juice (???). Smells even WORSE when sprayed on clothes instead of skin.

i had sniffed this on a tester paper and fell in love. i can't really describe how it smells on paper, but it was kinda comforting, like the name suggests. however!!!! when i sprayed it on my skin omg. immediate cough syrup/medicinal note that threw me off soooo bad. so glad i tested it on my skin before jumping to buy it.

Smells sooo bad like herbal fakeness I loveee the smell of the raspberry Cotten candy bubble bar but this smell is NOTHINGGG like it. Snow fairy alllll the wayyy
