The Dew On Their Hems

My new go-to green hippie scent. Romantic in name, a little savage, if ultimately lovely, by nature. Don't be expecting wispy florals or anything too airy fairy. It's an unapologetic room-filler you'll need the confidence to carry off. Glorious, if occasionally divisive! The dry down is ultimately palatable for all. A dominant juicy cucumber note with a touch of petrichor and a little added sweetness. Nothing too candied or heady. Uplifting, enveloping but not cloying if applied in sensible moderation. The initial impression is harsh however, sure to put casual browsers off. An absolute aldehydic blast. Mean, green and spikey. My mother decided to have a quick spritz instore after being drawn in by the steep price tag and immediately regretted it! Despite my insistence on how lovely she smelt the rest of the day. Refreshing in warmer weather. Fantastic longevity and sillage as to be expected from Lush. At the higher end of their price range as it's only currently available at £100 for 100ml, but worth the investment if you're a lover of bold, green, attention-grabbing scents.

the bruised grey-green sky hushes after a night of rainstorms. in the garden, forgotten slices of cucumber, pale green against the muddy water, bob in a serene puddle. a lone drop slides down the abandoned clothesline, surrendering to gravity and splashing onto the soaked grass below. it opens with a spray of rainwater, which doesn't feel like petrichor to my nose, but still retains the freshness and dewiness of the morning after a rainy night. it quickly settles into a slightly artificial cucumber scent, which is quite pleasant to my nose. this is a scent that lingers: i get about 8-10 hours on skin with decent projection, though it gets closer to a skin scent throughout the day, and I can still smell it on my clothes the day after. the dew on their hems is not for everyone, and judging from the votes on this website, it doesn't seem to have found its crowd yet. but this is a very interesting and unique release that distances itself from Lush's 2024 gourmand craze. another one for my to-buy list.

As someone's who's body chemistry does not hold 'light' or 'aquatic' notes longer than a 5 second splash.. i was impressed that this one lasted all day on me. There is substantial sillage - people in the market noticed the waft of light cucumber and commented on how refreshing it was despite the hot day without a breeze. You will stand out for the watery freshness. It is distinctly cucumber. On me, i don't get any of the funk, just pure rain.. and after 10 mins subsides to a fresh, cucumber, watery, calming, wearable day time scent. I dont get much of the cedar notes that are listed above. On me, this is a single note done very well to stand out alone.

This was terrible on my skin, all I got was just pure cucumber, yuck. Edit: I must admit I was impatient with the top note and sprayed over it with something else. As much as I still hate the first hit of cucumber, after leaving it to settle I'm pleasantly surprised as it turns into a delicate green woody scent with a hint of sugary sweetness. Glad I gave this a chance.

pending a more thorough trial i'd say i liked this a lot. the cucumber is quite strong, but it is fresh and sweet. i tried it first on a cloudy, humid day and it really cut through the thick air in a way i found refreshing. the petrichor is subtler, more apparent close to the skin. like coming inside on a rainy day to someone making cucumber salad

I don’t know why this perfume gets so much hate! I love it and a lot of my friends love it too 🥒 it doesn’t really change much in time. The main note is cucumber, it’s sweet and really refreshing, think aloe vera. A little bit of citrusy notes. I’m so glad Lush made another weird fragrance! Strong and long lasting

The name of the perfume was what drew me to it at first; I thought it was a beautiful name. When I first smelled it, I was really impressed with how special it was. I experienced an interesting thing when smelling it; I had a distinct image of a woman with piercing blue eyes in a dark field come to my head. I sprayed the perfume onto a test strip and took it with me on a work trip. I have since bought it and have used it today for the first time. What follows are my initial impressions. I'll add more as I get more familiar with the perfume. The top notes are so fresh that they go to my brain - I don't know how else to describe it! As it dries down, the cucumber gets very prominent, sweet and "happy," whereas I normally prefer more mysterious smells. However, it makes me feel quite powerful, in a strange way. Definitely a unique perfume that is evoking a chemical reaction in my brain. Unfortunately, I can't smell much petrichor but I'm getting sweet pea and melon that are not listed as notes. My boyfriend said he had never smelled anything like it (in a good way) though for him, the cucumber element is too prominent. He did like the grassy conifer element and said it smelled like someone had walked through some bushes (again, in a good way 😅).

I'm so torn with this. There is a DEFINITE funk in the cucumber scent, not terrible but I don't love it. Almost like a fresh dirty green pepper smell. I don't know if it's the cucumber Lush uses or whatever the "sweet notes" are. Otherwise this is PURE fresh. I think that stank is what helps it stay for literal hours when most pure fresh fragrances fade super quickly, but it also doesn't leave very quickly... definitely definitely not a blind buy. I also don't really get what I think of as petrichor in this at all. More cucumber water from a fancy spa (plus funk). I'm hoping I can find the right layering for this because it is so close to perfect.

Ultra realistic freshly cut cucumber, EXTRA juicy. Surprisingly, lasts very long. Amazing.

I’m not a huge fan of Lush perfumes, as none of them have been wearable enough for me to want to get a full bottle of; and many of them go weird on my skin. But I am still a fan of their scents in general because I love their Yog Nog, Posh Chocolate body wash and Super Milk hair conditioner. I quite like the American Cream and Candy Rain hair products too. This is one of their first perfumes that really left an impression, from smelling the cloth donut that they leave on the nozzles, for people to smell the drydown. It reminded me of how a very pleasant person might smell like out of the shower dressed in clean clothes, reminds me of the comfort of getting dressed in the morning on good days, to go to school. However, when sprayed onto skin, it is very cucumber dominant; don’t let this deter you, because I told myself I hated cucumber in perfumery after hating Roses on Ice by Kilian. It was a little overkill, but the drydown gets better. Am wearing this on one arm and Bees Knees on the other, the combination is complex yet meditative.

I only tested this briefly on a strip in-store but this smells like straight up cucumber.

Starts off with a very strong cucumber note but very quickly fades into a generic and synthetic sweet/fruity fragrance. Smells really cheap also.

As a lover of petrichor scents & Lush, I was really excited to try this one. There are not many scents I actually hate - this one is a strong hate. I get no petrichor smell at all, just the most disgusting, insanely pungent artificial cucumber. I do like the smell of cucumber, but whatever they used to create the cucumber smell here honestly revolted me. This one is a beast though, it's super strong smelling and over 14 hours later, I can still sadly smell it really strongly on my skin & clothing. Definitely do not blind buy, even if you're a petrichor fan.

I smelled it in store on a sheet of paper and it was a very photorealistic cucumber scent. By itself, that's not enticing enough for me to try it on, but I was like "I see the vision" because it was supposed to develop into a petrichor scent per the little card on the side, so I gave one good spray on my wrist. IMMEDIATELY the scent morphed into a disgusting, powdery, rotten cucumber toe gunk scent on my skin, which did not improve on dry down. I had to go scrub this one off in the bathroom at the mall after about 30 minutes. I'm at a loss with this one.

this has to be one of the worst scents i have ever smelled. my friend and i sprayed it in store and i actually felt sick and wanted to gag. plastic plastic plastic sharp cucumbers smell. i don't know how anyone could like this

I have some of the most mixed feelings I've probably ever had about a perfume with this one. On its own, I find it absolutely putrid. It's an intense artificial cucumber smell that had me run to a bathroom to try to scrub it off. However, I tried a few other scents on my time looking around and this scent ended up becoming a amazing base to make scents that were a little fresh REALLY fresh. I tried this out with the drop d'issey I wore to work and really liked that combo. I also think the dry down is quite nice. Lush is a definitely a brand that will experiment. Sometimes they hit, sometimes they miss but I never feel like they make anything boring. I don't plan to purchase this when the start and scent alone are not something I'm in to, but I wouldn't tell someone not to wear it.
