Vanillary

Absolutely gorgeous sent it has 3 progressions. The first progression is Jasmine forward like a bunch of flowers with a bit of an orange twist and you live in there for about an hour. Then you get the sensation at 2nd stage that there’s a a cake maybe a day or so old that is vanilla and it smells nice but not entirely edible which is the Tonga piece of the fragrance and this mixes in with the flowers like there’s these flowers and then there’s a cake that’s in another room but it’s still quite flower prominent and then within about three hours you finally get this sort of soft soufflé spongy vanilla edible yummy soft thing happening that becomes very forward and you’re living in the base and just the hint of the floral you might imagine there’s a bit of an orange citrus to this vanilla yummy custody cake that the most delicious part of the perfume. It’s a total joy. I love to wear it to bed and I love to wear it around the house. It has a strong projection but there’s something about it. that’s quite intimate and sort of thrives in the quiet slower type of times. I would not necessarily be wearing it to a club or even in the office it seems like it’s just too cozy too sweet for that sweet in the sense of just too charming for that. gorgeous scent with high complexity. What seems to be so basic just vanilla per its name has definitely beautiful journey if you give it some time. There are times when I perceive the jasmine to be a little bit rank like how some people say but if I spray it and within a bit of time the same progression happens and that indolic beginning just fades away.

This is, hands down, my most complimented perfume. I've had ensorcelled shop assisstants into tracking me down to ask me what my perfume was. I've had complete strangers walking up to take a sniff. I even had one lady ask me to type it into her phone so she could go buy a bottle in her lunch hour. It is a decadent, boozy, buttery vanilla that even the bougiest designer vanilla can't touch. It's like you've crushed an actual vanilla pod between your fingers. Despite there only being three notes, it has a depth and richness that is incomperable to anything else I have in my collection. This is the standard I hold all other vanillas too, and over ten years on, it's still unbeaten. If I could only have one perfume for the rest of my life, this would be it. It has perfect sillage, and it lasts for forever - I have a scarf that I wore as a student a decade ago, and I can still catch whiffs of this perfume. There are however, as with all things good, a few catches. Firstly, it has to agree with your skin. When my friend sprayed it on herself it morphed into a plasticy play-dough that was an instant scrub off. Secondly, it is very much a cold weather perfume. It is okay in the warm weather, but it's nothing compared to the magic way it smells when it's cold outside. Thirdly, the initial spray is... a choice that was made. It's like two stroke and rubber had a child, and you smell like that for fifteen minutes. You just have to get through it. It's character building. It'll be worth it in the long run.

I have the one ounce spray and I've used about half. First of all, I love jasmine and it loves me. And I have the same relationship with Vanilla. In me, this opens with probably about 60/40 jasmine to Vanilla. Then the ratios switch. Once it sits for a minute or two, tonka teams up with the Vanilla and the two tag-team against the Jasmine and nudge it to the background. Then, it spends the rest of its time as an almost nutty (but not peanut) sweet vanilla dream. I don't see sandalwood ever mentioned as a note, but it seems like it's in there... not especially strong, but enough to keep this "perfume-y" as opposed to fully edible. Maybe it's the tonka mixed with the remaining Jasmine. This is one that clings to clothing really, really well. If it's on one of my cardigans, I will definitely know it even if it's been two weeks since I last wore it. Not quite as strongly as Lust, but close. TBH, on me, this is a man magnet. I had this on layered with Snowcake on a windy day and several people (mostly men) raved about how incredible it smelled. I also layer it with a tiny bit of Lust. Unlikely pairing, I know, but on me it's a match made in heaven.

Pretty bored of the gourmand-Tik-Tok-girlies describing anything with a bit of intrigue, artistry or complexity as "old-ladyish". I personally aspire to be as glamorous, self-assured and good smelling as the old ladies I know! With that out the way it's true that this isn't a sugary sweet vanilla and doesn't work with everyone's chemistry. I'm not quite sure why it's so divisive though - perhaps it's the dissonance between the super-sweet smell you expect with a name like Vanillary, and the one you get? It's buttery, bourbon-y and almost a bit savoury, but I find it so pleasant (and it does still have some sweetness!). With my skin chemistry, I often get told I smell like cocoa butter when I wear this. Because of the floral notes it would work year-round, but I love wearing it in winter because it feels like a soft, fluffy, well-worn old jumper. I think it's a really unique take on vanilla and I'm happy it exists!

I don’t know what it is but this has become my favourite perfume of all time. My first 100ml bottle only lasted 6 months - it’s that good to me! There’s something indescribable about this, the way it hits you with a unique heavy nuttiness, the indolic jasmine, the smooth, sweet vanilla... it’s beautiful. It’s the perfect all rounder. In colder weather it leans gourmand and warm spicy. In hotter weather, the jasmine and tonka are more prominent and it’s reminiscent of walking through a grassy field with the sun shining and birds singing - I’m reminded of hay in the best possible way. I love that I can wear this anytime, even to bed, no headache, and it layers beautifully with almost anything. It lasts for hours. I’m not sure that it really projects but I don’t wear this for anyone but me, and for the price I’m not complaining if I’m the only one smelling it. It’s a stunner and I will wear this for life 🤍

I live for this. I'm totally vanilla person what comes for parfymes, and i'm always searching for that perfect vanilla scent. This is one of the best so far, but very unic one ✨ Have to admit that it took time for me to get used to this and start to like this. This is not usual sweet vanilla scent u can smell in every shop and in every cheap vanilla parfymes u can get in your hands I think this is more musk than vanilla actually. Very strong musk, and after that comes vanilla. But more warm, not so sweet. This smells basically like guineapigs piss, if you know what i mean 😂 so it's very animal and nature scent imo. Totally not for everyones taste and use. Also pretty unisex which i like This is kinda my signature smell at this moment, can't go wrong with this one. Goes with every occasions. I'd say not for blind buy, but give it a try n test it few times at Lush!

Lush fragrances are not for everyone, because they’re very strong and somewhat ‘dirty’. I had Karma in the past, now I have Lust as a solid perfume, and I’ve just added Vanillary (the liquid version) to my collection. Vanillary is a raw, untamed, natural vanilla, amplified by a narcotic, indolic jasmine (the same one as in Lust). Vanillary is not very sweet, which is always a good thing in my book. The scent lasts 4-5 hours, because it doesn’t contain Iso E Super and similar synthetic gunk in the base; nevertheless, it projects magnificently while it lasts - it fills the room in an instant and leaves a gorgeous trail. This ‘butch’, unpolished interpretation of vanilla might be a bit too much to those who are used to sugary pink-coloured vanillin bombs; the scent is not exactly pretty, but it’s cool and memorable.

Decadent vanilla bomb! Syrupy sweet and rich, with incredible longevity. I live in the seething-hot tropics where most perfumes sweat off in an hour or two — and Vanilary is one of a handful of fragrances I can trust to last a summer’s day, and stay true. This isn’t a complex fragrance, only a few oils blended, and it shows: this warm, floral vanilla is linear, and long lasting. In my search for the perfect vanilla, I’ve encountered so many versions of the same light scent — which is not that far different to the vanilla fridge spray I use to clean with. This vanilla, however, is deep and resinous and reminiscent of some delicious Christmas treat. EDIT: I wish the photograph for his perfume reflected the new bottle from LUSH, which is much simpler and looks great among fussier bottles.

when the baking instructions say to cut the butter into the flour. picking up the cold, powdery bits of salted butter and breaking them up with your fingertips. the paradoxical sensation of a heavy, fatty, oily substance that feels airy and dry to the touch. that’s this perfume. the weirdest vanilla blend i have ever encountered, but it’s an obsession. it’s a mouth-wateringly salty, savoury vanilla, VERY foody, like sticking your face in a 12-box of enormous Costco croissants. the jasmine is but a whisper. the salty fattiness of the butter gives the vanilla a “deep-fried” character, like tempura ice cream dessert at a Japanese restaurant . . . or perhaps dipping french fries into a vanilla milkshake. sounds bizarre and gross, but IYKYK. 🤌🏻✨

Combines 2 of my favorite scents- jasmine and vanilla. I had sampled this many years ago, and wasn't thrilled by it. But, gave it another shot and REALLY loved it. My absolute favorite vanilla perfume, although I have a few. Nothing beats this one. A close tie belongs only to Kulfi by L'Aromatica. Both are equally powerful and bodacious vanilla perfumes, although Kulfi is sweeter and has an almond element to it and less floral. If you love Vanilla, this one is a must to sample. And the price point is great for what you get. You can find it in spray, and solid. Bathbombs..Lush is a wonderful place to get lost in the fun of bathing, bubble bars at different times of the year. Vanillary is one of their yummiest creations. 8/10

This feels like me in a perfume, this is the only perfume I've ever felt this about. I picked this up while on the hunt for a dupe of Coty's Dark Vanilla based on the notes. It reminds me of what i believe the early 2000s smell like. Honestly I don't wear this often but when I reach for it its perfect. My advice is to not judge this from the cap/sample strip they have in the store. You get no vanilla from it and its just straight in your face overpowering jasmine. On the skin this has depth. You get the vanilla as well as the jasmine. This is a beautiful white floral vanilla perfume. I get no tonka which I wish I did because tonka is one of my favorite notes but oh well. This might not be for some but I love it.

sweet, floral & slutty vanilla with an underlying "what is that?" note. i don't personally pick up on the "pissy" vibes, but the jasmine is admittedly pretty raunchy in this. despite the raunch, this is a pretty safe wear! i average about 3-7 compliments from folks of all different walks of life when i wear this out. the projection of vanillary is about as you'd expect, pretty decent for the amount you get - so on average you'll be spraying 3-4 spritzes on yourself when desired. the longevity on skin is also pretty decent, but even better on clothing. i've had this in my rotation since i was 15 and i can safely say they haven't changed the formulation too drastically ever.

I absolutely love the sweetness of this fragrance with its warm undertone; it’s as if vanilla beans are right under my nose. The jasmine has an interesting dual character: sometimes it leans towards a soft, sweet floral, and other times it has a slightly raw, earthy edge. What I appreciate is that the level of sweetness is just perfect for my taste; it’s exactly what I crave. One reason I find this fragrance’s sweetness so enjoyable is that it doesn’t smell edible to me. While I sometimes appreciate dessert-like scents, I usually feel that those cake-like sweet fragrances aren’t quite "me." I treated myself to this perfume as a birthday gift last year on a cold rainy day.

I remember smelling this on one of the popular girls in my highschool. She was cool, chic, never smiled and always came to school with perfect makeup. When asked "what are you wearing?", all she said was "Lush" and walked away. That image sticks in my mind and now that I have the perfume, I just think of how cool she was. It's an unapologetic vanilla fragrance that makes you go wild. I smell tart raisins, fridge-cold butter, dusty book pages, soft skin covered in a sugar scrub and a piss-like animalic sharpness. Vanillary is wild and unforgettable. Not for everyone but you can't help but turn your head and scrunch up your face in bewilderment, confusion and lust.

Gorgeous, incredible vanilla. This brings to mind Shalimar...Shalimar pure perfume; not some current incarnation of a masterpiece. Also, I get scent memory of a perfume my mother had called Aquarius Cream Perfume. I don't know why... Vanillary smells so real, and so alive. Vanillary is woody, elegant, and sweet, but it's definitely not dessert. Like all of Lush's products, Vanillary has to be worn to be understood. It smells unique on every wearer, sometimes to the point of being unrecognizeable. The lasting power is truly incredible...this perfume becomes part of me!

This is truly the perfect gourmand sweet caramel vanilla. This paired with the Vanillary body wash (I personally love the washcards Lush do) lasts all day, creates a strong but not sickly scent bubble around you and just smells warm and delicious. I am obsessed with this - it smells like warm caramel and the white florals give it that sophisticated edge. This is perfect for the office, it's like toasted marshmallows if they had a 9-5. I wish I could find the body spray version of this, but the perfume itself is of great value. I would absolutely recommend this.

LOVE this fragrance!! I randomly decided to spray it after stocking up on some other items from Lush, and wow, I went to buy it online a few hours after spritzing myself. It's such a beautiful vanilla- I can smell the jasmine as well and I feel that it mixes perfectly. It is a warm, creamy vanilla, different than all the other vanillas I have smelled from other brands. I also own Kayali 28, they are both clearly vanilla, but Kayali seems a bit more "bright" and sweet, layers better with other fragrances, while Vanillary is more rich, creamy, good on its own.

Big love ! The dry down on clothing is sweet coconutty creamy floral but on skin I think you get more of the honey ish gourmand elements. I think it’s a year round fragrance might actually commit this to being my signature scent! It’s definitely unusual and stands out from all the super sweet scents that are really popular at the minute, generally I am not a vanilla or gourmand fragrance girl but this is different, it’s more complex and the jasmine really balances it out . I also do get the slight smokey elements people are talking about

Lush vanillary is a 50-50 combo of vanilla and jasmine. It has a very sweet vanilla icecream scent along with a very sexy, indolic and animalic jasmine bomb. It is amazing in winter but also in spring because if that jasmine it makes it feel very solar and bright. It also gives me a little buttery bread feel. It projects like crazy and really fills a room. This is very addictive. It is a compliment getter and people constantly ask me what I have on when I own this one. Be careful though if strong fragrances give you headaches.

This is dreamy. A romantic, ever-so-slightly boozy mix of jasmine and vanilla, and the subtly spicy warmth of tonka bean. It's creamy and delicious without being ultra-sugary- if you want a hyperrealistic cookie / bakery vanilla, this is not it! I'm addicted- I get compliments on this often and no other scent has felt so "me". What it brings to mind: soft silk, tiny milky strands of pearls, kisses against the breast, the heady bloom of white flowers, warm frothy chai on a rainy day, and smooth powdered skin after a bath.

Big disappointment. This has NO vanilla and is exclusively an asexual, youthful spring jasmine, ylang ylang bomb. Any subtle gourmand notes would have to be searched for, top, middle, base, it's nowhere to be found. Incredible bummer that this is wasting the covetted spot that Lush could fill with a real wearable vanilla fragrance, which it still doesn't have. Every other "vanilla" fragrance from them is citrus heavy (Chelsea Morning, Super Milk,) and not gourmand or smells like a cabbage patch doll (American Cream).

Not as long-lasting as some Lush fragrances, but it's one of my favorites. It's a gourmand that's not overly sweet. The Jasmine adds a soft, sensual floral note and I'm not sure if it's the tonka bean, but the vanilla has more of a toasted or burnt vanilla smell that goes a little smokey on my skin. It's like a jasmine infused creme brulee right after it's been torched. Vanilla based scents usually work well with me, but I don't always want to smell like a bakery, so this is a great option for striking that balance.

The vanilla scent that started it all for me! It’s delicious and powdery at the same time. I can see why someone who “loves vanilla” may not vibe with this particular vanilla. It’s an odd one because it maintains some edible-ness but has enough warmth/powderiness to be “perfumey.” I’m absolutely in love with this vanilla, and it’s what I compare all my other vanillas to. It lasts pretty long on me, about 8 hours. It does project a bit, but not so much that it’s offensive to other people in your vicinity.

On my skin it immediately settles into a chocolaty creamy jasmine with a hint of vanilla in the background. Given the name of it I expected a more prominent vanilla fragrance, but it develops differently depending on the body chemistry. I normally don't like jasmine especially strong jasmines like Alien because I get a headache, but this is blended well and leaves a soft choco/jasmine waft. It is subtle and very much a skin scent so don't expect any major projection. One for cozy lazy days.

Not liking a fragrance is one thing, calling for it to be discontinued is plain arrogant. Actually it smells of vanilla, raw unadulterated vanilla. Not the fake stuff you’re probably used to. So maybe you could just move on and try other stuff and let us enjoy Vanillary ? Thank you. Yeah it’s a vanilla for grownups, not cupcake addicted toddlers whose perfume vocabulary consists only of « poopoo » « caca » and «peepee».

I have the solid of this—creamy, cozy vanilla, just a little bit indolic from the jasmine in a way I absolutely adore, like a fluffy blanket enveloping you. Stays close to the skin but lasts for a whole day, at least in solid form. I've been layering this under fragrances that I wish were a little warmer and it works amazingly for that purpose. Think this'll be a staple in my rotation for a long time.

Starts of very floral and pretty and dried down to A light vanilla. This is not a gourmand or a delicious vanilla it’s a floral light vanilla that’s very pretty and feminine I just love it and it also layers well with other perfumes ! It’s an all season reach but leans more towards spring and summer for me. It’s a calming scent as well I have worn this out of the shower and to bed. Just lovely

Love this Lush fragrance so much. It is buttery, soft and delicious. Some days the tonka is more prominent on my skin and others I get a hint of the jasmine coming through but mostly it is a creamy vanilla which is a joy to smell and very warming and comforting. I love that even though it is soft and not in your face it stays on my skin right until the morning. A real beauty. 10/10

This is an extremely heavy and strong scent that overpowers any other perfume you might want to layer it with if you're not careful with he amount you spray on. It is a very spicy and intense vanilla, and not for everyone for sure. It smells very warm like a hot day in the middle of summer. I think it's perfect for every day use as long as it's used modestly.

literal vanilla jasmine infused butter. this was my signature for quite a while. the tonka almost gives it this rummy note and the jasmine keeps it mature and intriguing. this fragrance is burnt and rich all the way. my least favorite thing about divisive fragrances that you personally love is that you never know the right time to wear them in public :(

Creamy, patisserie vanilla that’s not overly sweet as many other vanilla fragrances and not overly floral as true vanilla pod. It also has a thread of a very delicate smoky wood. It’s perfectly balanced in my opinion and is a fabulous addition to a fragrance library for layering over fragrances that you might like to soften. Also amazing value!!!

This is a good one. I’m usually picky with my vanillas and i was afraid the jasmine would take away from it, but it really just elevates and makes it more mature. It’s the perfect balance between gourmand and floral to me, obviously leaning towards gourmand as it settles in to a nice buttery vanilla goodness.

This fragrance is a heavy, creamy, buttery vanilla - vanilla pudding, vanilla ice cream, vanilla custard. Gorgeous and sweet and surprisingly complex. There is a strange plasticky note at first spray, but this fades quickly and what you are left with is pure deliciousness.

To me, this is a summer vanilla, a cool vanilla you can wear in hot weather. It has a strong jasmine note which throws people off because they’re probably expecting it to veer warmer like most vanilla-dominant perfumes. It’s absolutely one of my favourite fragrances ever

Absolutely stunning and such an underrated fragrance it’s cozy but fresh at the same time it reminds me of the old lush products of the 90s always get really lovely compliments when wearing vanillary an absolute stunning fragrance that will always be in my collection

To me, this is more tonka bean than anything. It may be a bit off-putting at first, but that's precisely why I liked it, it's not the typical mass appealing gourmand. It's pretty unique, it gives something rubbery but it's powdery, sweet and comforting.

This is a very cake-like Vanilla. I find it very buttery and creamy, and very very sweet. Not getting the notes of urine that some are getting thank God. I’m a big fan of most Lush fragrances, and this one is no exception. I really like this.

Upon initial spray, this was a bizarre scent. After the dry down I get this beautiful buttery vanilla. There is a slight rubbery note that may be coming from the jasmine or vanilla. None the less, the buttery vanilla is quite delicious.

I bought an aged version of it. It is very dark, still intact and smells dirty. It is a sweet, but not too sweet vanilla scent with a tiny hint of jasmine and a very dirty, animalic note in it, though none is mentioned. I love it!

Straight up Vanilla cake batter and that’s its. Doesn’t change and stays the same throughout. The best vanilla fragrance I have ever smelt and one I will always have in my collection. Extremely strong and lasts for ages.

Such a pretty and cosy baby powder vanilla! I’m not a fan of the opening as it feels a bit musty, but only lasts a moment. Then the jasmine comes in and vanillary becomes a really clean powder- love it so much!!

this is such a beautiful CLEAN smelling vanilla. when i owned a bottle it was my all time favorite layering perfume, i swear it makes everything ive ever paired it with smell 100x times better.

One of the creamiest, smoothest cozy vanillas you’ll ever find! It’s straight up vanilla with just a tiny hint of jasmine that prevents it from being too cloying. Wonderful!

This makes me feel so nice and warm and somehow it's not too heavy for warm weather. I only tried the solid version, but I'm definitely buying the spray too!

I went into lush to test out American Cream and walked out wanting Vanillary instead. This is what I wanted American cream to smell like

Resinous, thick vanilla absolute with a slightly poopy touch that I love. I'll wear it more during winter and update.

COCONUT and vanilla. Don’t smell jasmine. It’s a pleasant daytime fragrance, or one for bedtime.

Jasmine laced vanilla buttercream. Addictive unlike any other fragrance I've ever tried.

When only extreme vanilla will do. Divides opinion.

On the whole, Lush perfumes and I aren’t in the same wavelength: on one hand, I find the idea of walking into the shops for testing kind of stressful, with their overeager sales personnel and the cacophony of hallucinogenic dyes, scents, and well-meaning, world-saving intentions. Also, vanilla is one of the few gourmand notes I thoroughly enjoy, but smelling like straight-up vanilla is something I only like occasionally, so I’m not sure what made me decide to get a little jar of the solid, along with Lust (probably the wish to buy something and leave asap). The version I have was purchased before 2024, so I suspect it’s different from the tube solid currently sold. Even though I’m not much into gourmands, I really like Vanillary: on me, it smells like something freshly baked and loaded with calories, like butter cookies or vanilla pound cake. A coworker even told me that I smelled “like chocolate” (I think she meant to say I smelled like a dessert). At first I couldn’t detect any jasmine in here, as per the notes listed, but over time something has changed, and now I can find a slight whiff of dirty jasmine; I like it, I think it makes it interesting. Would I buy the eau? I don’t think so, because I find the liquid a bit overpriced for what it is and I like this format, either for layering with other perfumes or worn alone: even in solid form, it projects decently and, since longevity is poor (1-2 hr max), it’s easier to carry and reapply this way.
