What Would Love Do

I've given it some time and WWLD has become something I do get a craving for every now and then, especially before bedtime. It has these odd contradictions, it seems sticky, earthy, dry and sour at the same time. When given some time to rest, I catch something almost like rye bread. The smell of something fermented? Is it yeast???? I don't bake enough to be able to connect the dots. Still a little too much candy for me to wear regularly, but I can appreciate the character. I don't think I'll ever grow to love it as much as Sikkim Girls, but then again, that one also took its time to grow on me. WWLD is very simple and something that perhaps even takes you aback with it's simplicity. Edit: I'm wearing this pretty regularly now, out and about especially when we have stormy weather and I need something energizing. Cool, rainy days really do bring out more depth and a more nuanced (less sticky) sweetness from it. It's now one of my favourites for bedtime, I originally found myself liking it when I was going for a nap and the smell that used to nearly nausiate me had stuck on my bedsheets and transformed. I often wear things that are difficult for me to bed, to familiarize them to me. Maybe there's something about the workings of the sleeping mind, but I do it just because I fall asleep quickly enough to avoid getting annoyed with a fragrance and it allows me to see the lasting power as well. Edit: GINGERBREAD! Love... using this today as a companion scent to help me ease into Cabochard.

I am a huge fan of Lush & have been for the past 15 years. I can never just walk past, without being lured in by the aroma wafting from the store! It's all too common for their fragnces to not stay around for too long, as I've learned from bitter experience. RIP Tuca Tuca 💔 This understated little bottle, holds a scent that is simply gorgeous. An aptly named little gem ♥️ "Love would lift you up with elevating tangerine oil when you need a boost. Love would calm you down with grounding lavender when worry weighs heavy on your mind. And love would wrap you up in a vanillary benzoin resinoid cuddle at the end of a long day" I get a short blast of fresh, authentic Tangerine and sweet Lavender. As it settles, the Benzoin comes through, switching places with the Tangerine. The citrus keeps it a little fresh but hovers I the background, preventing it from becoming too sweet, while the Benzoin gives the Lavender a sugared flower feel. Longevity and silage are moderate. It stays on clothing for over 24 hours though. It's definitely one of the brand's more subtle offerings, so don't expect the strength of Lust, Rose Jam, Twilight or Karma - all of which I also adore! This is a great daytime scent, especially for those dreaded Monday mornings! I love to use this at bedtime though, layered with their Dream Cream or Sleepy body lotion zZzZz... I must buy a backup before it disappears!

This has been my signature scent for work and various events for years, so I am obviously biased. Its most powerful note is definitely warm and sweet benzoin, but the addition of zesty citrus keeps it from being too heavy and cloying. The lavender is more subtle and in the background (I honestly wouldn’t be able to recognise the note if it had not been listed), but it also adds to the complex balance. ♡ Unfortunately, I can spray it only on clothes as I am allergic to some of its ingredients. On the other hand, from my experience, this is clear proof it consists mostly of natural essential oils instead of synthetics, which can be a plus for some. It also develops more linearly there, whereas on my skin it goes quickly from a little bitter soapy tangerine to honeyed resin. The projection is excellent, and (at least on clothes) it can last up to days.

Just got this today, even pulled a blind buy based off the reviews. So Lush has been making changes to the fragrance lines, and the bottle sizes are now leaning towards 100ml, making these fun experiments in fragrance a bit pricey vs. The old 30ml versions, that for Lush was just right. This one is really nice, and does not pull the usual Lush assault on the senses. It is sweet, but not in a manor that goes overboard. Reviewer Teddyboy nailed the Lemongrass note,I have to agree with that take on the citrus here. Such a nice calming scent, simple but it really works. This can be bought online fairly cheap, check it out, and while there see what has been happening with the fragrance line. Younger scent, but I will pretend I can pull it off. I think this fits the unisex category OK, best for spring and summer evenings. Stay safe, and smell good!

I got this as a gift from my friend on my birthday and I'm almost through my 30 ml bottle though it hasn't been an year yet. I also have this in a solid format but that doesn't have the sillage I want and the glass pot is hard to get any use out of. I have never tried 29th high street by lush but this also smells quite similar to a lush store. I smell lime every time I put it on so I'm surprised this one doesn't have lime in it's notes. The lavender comes out gradually together with the lime. The lime (even though it's not really lime) does have a bit of bitterness but it's also sweet. The overall scent is very well balanced and isn't strong but gives a pleasant, clean, comforting vibe. I'm planning to buy the big bottle after I go through my 30 ml bottle. 9/10

Delicious stuff. The lavender is a supporting player to a minimalist yet powerful oriental, clearly Guerlain-inspired fragrance. The intense citrus and overdose of benzoin make this so tasty. Somehow the ingredients combine to produce a cinnamon-lemon effect, somewhere between spicy powder and tangy curd. Furthermore, the huge load of benzoin blends with the citrus and lavender to smell like a non-bready, fresh, rich, warm panettone, dusted with cinnamon-lemon-vanilla sugar. It’s not a monster, but it lasts forever in a cozy bubble. People in the room with you will smell it and it will whet their whistles. The person you go to bed with will want to eat you up.

I wish I bought a bottle before this was discontinued! I have the solid perfume version and am nearly out of it. I have been complemented on it several times- I work in a career where I am often very close to people so I like to choose perfumes that are not overpowering but are still noticeable. This fully fits the bill for a perfume I can wear at work. The smell of tangerines and lavender are extremely nostalgic for me (my grandma has a tangerine tree and my mom has lavender) so for me this smells like a spring/summer day. It's warm, welcoming, soft, kind? I like it a lot and I'm gonna be sad when I run out.

Weirdly enough most of the reviews below have pretty discording opinions. Personally speaking I love this scent and it's by far my fav Gorilla perfume. The notes here seems quite a bit off. I detect very little lavender and notes of orange/citrus on a very strong and sweet spicy base which to me smells a lot like cinnamon and vanilla-caramel with perhaps some patchouli. Yes it reminds of Shalimar, more than a bit but it's just a faint memory. An excellent scent and while sillage and longevity aren't huge they are so much better than most Lush perfumes.

This is one of my signature perfume. I love perfums with few notes. Not overdone and which has great longevity. On top of it, its vegan!!! So, the the opening start with lavander but not sweet lavender like Sleepy spray but mixed with benzoin, i would say a little bitter. I dpnt want to say its citrusy but it has sthg that reminds me bitter orange. I would not say its safe buy as it projects differently on each skin. The perfume is overall sweet but not candy, sickly sweet. Its sweet because of benzoin with calming lavender and a bit of bitterness

Peculiar and truly therapic, very comforting. I didn't know that the lavender is here, but have purchased this fragrance imtuitively during quite stressful period - and it works so well:) You can not distinct separate notes here - all come in accords. This perfume developes on skin amazingly: from warm citrus to a very calming almost woodsy accord. Just give it 20 minutes and you may be amazed how it is different from the opening. It becomes inseparable from the skin. It is far more rich and round than you can imagine just from the listed note.

This opens with a sweet, fruity citrus opening, reminiscent of Froot Loops cereal or a sweet and sour candy. Then mellows down into resinous benzoin maintaining some sweetness. Lavender isn’t that prominent to me, but what’s left in the air is a beautiful incense, comforting, mildly sweet and just enveloping me with what love does. Swoon! Reapplication is necessary on skin every 5-6 hours, but it’s worth every spray. Pairs exceptionally well with 'Sleepy' Body Lotion. My favorite Lush Perfume along with Karma, Rentless, and Lord of Misrule.

Okay, this is such an intoxicating scent. It’s sweet but not obnoxious. It smells like an expensive elixir - it has a syrup-y vibe. Very much niche smelling. It has only three notes but they’re not really detectable, they just blend so well together and create this edible, mesmerising concoction of sexiness. Sadly it’s getting discontinued where I am, so I bought the three bottles that were left. You can’t overspray this. It is linear, but people around will definitely notice your scent. Scent 8/10 Longevity 6.5/10 Sillage 5.5/10

This is citrus all the way, citrus marengue pie in fact. Sweet and sour. The lavender is Not as dominant as the picture above shows, the citruses and the sweetness from the benzoin is 80% of this fragrance, the lavender is quite soft and creamy actually. I can also detect a slice of ginger. Love this juice, Will buy the big bottle when my 30ml is empty. Love, love, love

My first association with it is being forced to drink a very sugary, syrupy orange soda anytime I was sick and nauseous as a child. It's my Munchausen's in a bottle. But it also makes me think of like, gingerbread spiced with orange. The drydown is lovely but the bittersweet orange dominates throughout the life of the scent.

Sadly, this gem that can vary from tart pastry to spiced cake to stimulating-yet-soothing confection, has been discontinued (in the USA at least). I knew a month ago, and drove 2 hours to get a LUSH store’s last 3 bottles, but that’s that... meantime I’ll enjoy their diametrically different yet equally strange Tank Battle!

I only have this in the GLORY hair conditioner, so my interpretation could be different. ...Smells like herbal sweet cereal! Almost fruitloop adjacent, very much green biscuits. Gorgeous scent, and I don't get much citric outside the tanginess that accents all the scent; it smells pulpy, somehow!

I actually love this very much!!<3 it's so beautiful, starts with citrus and develops to a calming lavender, insensy and vanilla smell. The projection it alright and long lasting too. I recommend testing it before purchase it anyways (give it a try!!!!!!!)

I couldn't count the times I've been told by different people that i smell like gingerbread when wearing this. Wonderful scent, i have no words. I've never had or tried anything as perfect as this one, the day my bottle runs out will be a sad, sad one.

Sweetly comforting, but boldly tenacious. Opens with caramelised tangerines and vanilla, followed by recognisably Lush style resin/incense underneath. It can both soothe and empower, which is perhaps what love should do.

I bought up every bottle within a 75 mile radius before they discontinued it. It smells like the most tangy edible vanilla tangerine confection of all time! Does anybody know if it’s available outside the USA?

This is so enjoyable just when I think it spicy sweet goodness has faded away you turn around and it's still there. Plus this is the EDP to Superworld Unknown EDT version....

To me, its a mix of ginger, honey and lemongrass. I dont get the tangerine and lavender at all

It's true that it has some similarlities to Twilight/Sleepy, it could be a summer flanker to that, if Lush did such a thing. The added tangerine makes it fresh and juicy, especially in the opening. It's fizzy with an unmistakable Lush DNA. All three notes are clearly detectable. The lavender is the same as in Twilight, but the overall scent is less sweet and warm. There is a beautiful, buttery, caramel-like benzoin, but it's mostly a base for the lavender and tangerine. It's most prominent in the heart of the fragrance. I agree with the many reviewers who think this has a spicy vibe, even though there are no spices listed. Unfortunately this falls apart on my skin after a few hours. Unlike the everlasting Twilight body spray, What Would Love Do turns much weaker and thinner all out of sudden. Instead of the warm benzoin base I wanted, the final drydown smells just like a dialed down version of the essence of the Lush store. But I love the first hours. I think it might be a skin chemistry issue. I have Lush's Glory conditioner (great product for dry hair!) that is also WWLD scented and I wish the drydown of the perfume was more like that. To my nose this works better in mild to warm weather, and I think it could be great layered with Sleepy products. I read that this will be discontinued soon, so if you love it, better get it now while the price is right.

As much as I can sense that ever-so-slight vibe of twilight here from a touch of Lavender, what this smells like to me is really fancy ginger biscuits but without the literal stale biscuit vibe that makes it gourmand. Candied ginger and tangerine. The Benzoin here is very warm, sweet and spicy, plus there is also a cinnamon-like compound in the ingredients so when mixed with the citrus it becomes kind of christmassy! This is discontinued and could defiantly lean a bit medicinal to some people I think, so a bit of a risky ebay purchase. If in doubt just go for Twilight (for sweet Lavender), 1000 kisses deep for warm, resinous mandarin or Love (for warm citrussy cinnamon with a baked apple vibe!). But I love this in the festive season and my husband loves it too.

This perfume smells like caramelized tangerine biscuits and amber, it has a very strong esoteric shop incense vibe, which i absolutely adore, i think that might be because of the benzoin. The lavender is there, but it’s extremely well blended with the other notes. It overall smells really comforting, kinda like that one friend of your mom that’s always so enthusiastic to see you for some reason, and always burns incense in her one room apartment. It’s super unique, and smells really, really luxurious in my opinion. If you told me this was a niche perfume, I would probably believe you! I would say go for it if you like that vibe as much as i do! It’s fitted for every season and is fairly strong, be careful not to overspray !

It's a perfume that varies ENORMOUSLY depending on people, even more so than "traditional" perfumes. My friend also owns it, and it barely lasts, has a very small sillage and smells completely differently. As for me, it has quite the sillage and lasts a while, too. It seems the tangerine is the main note you smell on me, even after a while. The rest of the notes are almost imperceptible. I like it, but I'm glad I bought it while I worked for LUSH (no longer the case), because it's a bit expensive for a perfume that is way less stable in its composition (homemade stuff, eh?).

Lavender lover here. Lavender is usually my go to scent before bed. Though LES LAVANDES by LOTHANIQUE is my lavender "LOOOOOVE", Lush has a nice little solid, which is practical for travel. I love to pair this fragrance with CO Bigelow's Lavender lotion. This combination adds a bit of a stronger lavender kick to this sweet orange lavender concoction by Lush. Worn together, the longevity is approximately 4 hrs. Hopefully this is plenty of time to enjoy the fragrance and relax, and by the time the fragrance comes to its end, one has fallen asleep. Sweet dreams to all!

What Would Love Do is a beautiful fragrance. It smells like a Lush shop, it's sweet and citrusy. It has a note of lavender, but it's nothing like Twilight, it's not herbal at all. It's a bit spicy as well, I think there's a ginger note in it. But it's very well blended, so it's not overpowering. I think most people would enjoy this scent as it is simple, sweet and fun. The price is very good, but the sillage isn't great at all. It's not really strong and it stays on skin for about 30 minutes to 1 hour. I wish it was stronger. I'd give it 4/5.

This one is going to take more sampling for me to figure out what's going on with it. It is an interesting combination, with the lavender and citrus dancing back and forth, but the benzoin in the dry down is a bit overpowering. There is something comforting and almost maternal about this fragrance. Edit: I much prefer the solid over the spray. The lavender is more prominent and the overall fragrance is softer and less resinous. I feel the same way about Vanillary in solid vs. liquid form. I also think they would make a great combination.

Oh... what would love do... I am a seasonal Lush employee. I have an obsession with Sleepy and Twilight so when I found out this one had a lavender note I knew I had to try it. It's the complete opposite Twilight/Sleepy because it has a citrus opening... it does dry down to a beautiful lavender but with just a slight bite of the citrus. The fragrance itself is beautiful but it isn't something that I would suggest as a calming fragrance. I don't regret purchasing this fragrance but it's not my absolute favorite Lush scent.

This scent always reminds me of this thing my family used to make sometimes as a breakfast item, which is half a grapefruit with some brown sugar and cinnamon on top that you put in the oven for a while. It doesn't smell like grapefruit per se, but there's a strong warm citrussy smell and for me it really does smell like cinnamon. I have the solid perfume and it doesn't last super long but I like that it stays quite close to the skin.

it really is a sweet, balsamic bomb. i spritz this at night and wake up smelling it on my pillows, and sometimes in my hair it lasts all the way to wash day so it's definitely a workhorse in the longevity department. this is resinous and warm, with a "moreish quality" that has me overlooking my usual tastes. they aren't similar at all, but for me the drydown reads quite similarly to MM's By The Fireplace - must be the balsam.

Several minutes after spraying I asked my husband what he thought and I heard "smells like vaping," and I thought "harsh, but true." Turns out he said baking, but now I can't unsmell it, that whiff of fruity smoke... The dry down is less fruity and smells like Sleepy lotion, probably thanks to the lavender/benzoin combo, which is less in-your-face than the opening and quite nice.

I’m very late to the Lush fragrance line but I have been curious for awhile. Came upon a screaming deal so I bought 30 ml blind. What Would Love Do is a simple herbal citrus fragrance with benzoin. It’s got some zing, I would describe it as fun and lighthearted. What Would Love Do has exceptable performance of an hour or so before turning to a skin scent.

I don’t know what love gotta do with this but I do know it’s one pretty, sweet and juicy citrus candy. Lush vivid imagination never rests. Here it has twisted the usually inflexible eau de cologne structure into something edible. So What would love do? Well suck all the juice and eat all the flesh of course, until there is nothing left. ***(**)

Shalimar for broke stoners. Sprays a blast of window cleanser on the skin, then blooms with lavender and Lemonhead sweet-sour candy--in the best way. Later it settles into caramel-vanilla benzoin and a faint burble of bong water. I bought the big bottle with no regrets.

By itself it is very citrus heavy and dries down a little weird smelling on my skin. However when layering this with Lush’s Twilight body spray it’s the perfect Christmas scent for me, the two combine heavenly and make me smell like freshly baked cookies or cake.

Like @reinevp, on me What Would Love Do? goes straight to a strong balsamic scent, almost like a newly opened packet of incense sticks. As someone who prefers skin or intimate scents and is a bit shy of smelling "perfumey" I felt uneasy wearing it and worried I was radiating an incense cloud. It's a shame because I love the citrus and floral top and middle notes. I can imagine a different (more courageous) person would truly appreciate this scent, and it's clearly still in demand after being discontinued because my bottle was snapped up almost instantly when I listed it online.

Unfortunately, on me this smells nothing like the description. I absolutely love Twilight with the lavender tonka combination, so I was so excited to try WWLD. Sadly, I get no tangerine, and no lavender. It goes directly to a very strong straight amber scent on me. Not at all what I wanted, and I regret buying this blind. Luckily, I recently discovered Lush Shade perfume, in which I CAN smell the lavender, and it’s very lovely indeed. In case you’re looking for something where the lavender is more noticeable.

I just tried WWLD perfume spray for the first time. I don’t get any citrus at all, the opening goes straight to lavender and tonka, and for a while it does smell a lot like Twilight. The dry-down turns into straight spicy amber on me, and the lovely lavender-tonka sadly just disappears. Amber is where people are getting the gingerbread accord. I’ll stick with Twilight.

This is nice but nothing special to me. I love Lust and Kerbside Violets so I gave this a chance, but I don't feel any particular way about this fragrance. It layers well with perfumes that need a bit of a lift and brightening, so I do get use out of it. It's a nice scent but it doesn't perform super great by itself. Overall just a 6/10 for me.

I have the solid version. Not a fan. It is like someone said below a sweet citrus on me. And I am not a big fan of citrus notes, especially when they are so prominent. Plus it doesn't really change much in my opinion, very linear, very boring. I really enjoy a lot of Lush perfumes xo disappointed with this one.

I bought this about a year ago, and tested this in the Lush store first. I must have liked the tester (I remember the tester smelling much more creamy and lavender-y), but I've tried over and over again to like this perfume, and it just doesn't cut it for me. It's incredibly strong, I can smell it for days in the room that I spray it in. The scent is linear on me, and it is STRONG spicy ginger and candied tangerine. It doesn't give me a headache, but it does just smell unpleasant and overpowering, and I end up having to wash it off my arms after a while because I just can't take it anymore. Maybe someone who really likes spicy perfumes would like this. But it's definitely not for me. I would not recommend blind buying this.

Bought the liquid version without trying it as I loved the wash card. It was a mandarin opening that developed into soft lavender and I loved it so much I couldn't stop smelling my hands. However the liquid perfume does not smell the same, I don't get the mandarin opening at all and while lavender is there the resin is overpowering in a way it wasn't on the other version of this scent. Disappointed.

I got the solid version and it does not project or last at aaall. The scent itself isn’t my thing either. It leans more masculine and is almost smokey. It’s a strange one

Charcoal roasted sliced oranges with crushed lavender bits sprinkled all over it. Strange, but in a fun and entertaining way. Even though there’s lavender in it, I don’t know if there’s any calming effect, it isn’t smooth or soothing at all, in fact a bit challenging. Orange and lavender seem to be at the two ends of a spectrum, combining together creates a contrast. Combating against each other. Sometimes, I cannot help to be reminded of orange chocolate cream puffs, this ghostly imaginary chocolate impression could be contributed by dusty-bitter- herbalness of lavender and smoky-balsamic benzoin put together. Overall, Lush has managed to create something that could smell almost artificial out of natural ingredients, it has a solid dense, opaque quality to it, almost like colourful crayons, but when they water it down (the original vs. the latest reformulated) it seems to lose its magic, just not as interesting and addictive. I love their creations, but cannot foresee myself going through a bottle, not something that I would wear on daily basis. A bottle of 30ml would probably last me for years.

Lt socks, tenacious is right! Usually I stop being able to smell perfumes a while after I have spritzed but I kept getting little wafts of this right through the day. I tried this after I read about it in Tania Sanchez and Luca Turin’s 2018 version of their masterwork. Luca Turin describes it as a postmodern Shalimar. I didn’t get this when I tested it against a recently purchased bottle of Shalimar Eau de Parfum, but then had a spritz of a vintage Eau de Toilette, and there it was! Citrus mingled in with soft oriental notes. Of course, Shalimar is laden with vanilla and I don’t get vanilla from this at all, but it is possible to trace a direct line from Shalimar to What Would Love Do. I wonder if Gorilla Perfumes came up with this by chance or if they were inspired by Shalimar? It’s not a copy or a pastiche but they are speaking the same language.

I’ve been dying to try this, and finally got a chance to. Although I do like Twilight, something about the addition of tonka/ vanilla in lavender reminds me of Bath & Body Works Lavender Vanilla, which I do not like, and was interested in trying this one. Although I did detect the same lavender note that’s in Twilight, the benzoin/ lavender/ tangerine combo smells like incense to me. It’s all well blended, no note pops out at me, and I didn’t really detect the tangerine popping out like the orange in a Sun or anything. I do prefer herbal lavender scents, but this to me is more incense than herbal. This currently cost $36.75 and ounce.

I definitely see the comparison to Shalimar, with this one. Opens with a burst of citrus, then settles into a “cinnamon-y” comfortable place after taking a brief tour through lavender fields. The lavender is brief tho, to my nose anyway. It takes you on quite a winding journey in and out of sweetness and “spicy-ness” with touches of some kind of fruitiness, now & then. (I swear I can pick up a trace of strawberry candy at times). Coumarin makes an appearance near the drydown, mimicking vanilla in a non-gourmand way. For the price it’s a great little ride and really well done! I’m going to enjoy this!

The best thing about this gem is that you simply cannot use too much of it. Even in the hot sun, it stays refreshing. As the other reviews suggest, it is most certainly a very hip fragrance. The bottle may not be much to look at, yet at the same time it gives off this hand made in some laboratory look and is perfect for the young hipster who wants to set an example. It is presented in such a way that it is uplifting when people ask... 'What are you wearing?... It is a conversation starter and I always love pointing out... Oh! it's Gorilla Perfume! 4th bottle and cant get enough.
