Eau du Diable

The descriptions do not match the actual scent. Here, the amber accord dominates (I recognize it as I have purchased their vegan amber), for me, to a fault along with the incense notes. I'd love any of the florals to shine through just a little to round it out. This is one I would not purchase again, and my least favourite of the Eau de Colognes. That said, it's still a good, clean, witchy vegan product so if your into incense + amber -- go for it!

This is my favorite fragrance from this wonderful, nature-based, witchy indie brand from Canada. If you're looking to explore Lvnea, my crucial piece of advice is that the descriptions often don't match the scent: Their blends are extremely resin and incense focused, and those notes usually completely dominate, even if the fragrance is described as a floral. I am a dyed-in-the-wool Oriental floral gal, so I have been taken aback several times by Lvnea scents I expected to be lighter and more floral but which are heavy, smoky, or earthy instead. Definitely a brand you'll want to try samples of first! I really love Eau du Diable because it's so versatile: Not only does it smell wonderful on skin and hair, but it's suitable to use on clothes, linens, or as a room spray. Despite being an EDC, just a small spritz will do- it packs a powerful punch. Though it's not listed in the official scent description, a main ingredient in this fragrance is frankincense hydrosol, and that is mainly how the perfume comes across: Church incense blended with orange blossom and a little bit of musk and leather, with benzoin in the base. Never would have guessed rose and jasmine are in this- They are barely detectable through the thick smell of frankincense smoke. Though I think this could be better balanced, it serves its purpose in my arsenal, and I always try to have a bottle around. Perfumes are made in limited quantities and sometimes it can be many months before a favorite is restocked, if it's even brought back at all- So if you really fall in love with a Lvnea scent, stock up!

This is enjoyed by spraying on skin and then not paying attention to it. The yellow and orang-ey sillage beautifully radiates natural botanical notes in the air. If you put direct attention, by putting your nose and smelling it directly for example, you will discover a slightly off putting balsaming note that comes from choya nakh- roasted seashells. If you prefer direct smelling, you can layer with Eau de La Reine; Green and yellow mingles. Yellow citrus and florals with green woody herbal rosemary. They sweeten and extend each other. This was my second choice and I was ambivalent about getting full 100ml. Ministry of Scent is having sale on the colognes (Jan 2023).. I apply my own advice of not paying direct attention, Diable aura is so nice and the dry down reminds me of tangerine. Its just USD 40 at Ministry of Scent anyway.

Hate the initial scent, reminds me of cut grass! Very green-leaning at least to my nose, which I wasn't expecting from the notes. Maybe I need to let it sit a while and try it again in a few months....
