Hypnotic Musk

This house is so elegant and underrated. I love their DNA which really makes all the difference when it comes to houses. The raspberry is happily very prominent along with the house musk which is very smooth and the opposite of screechy. (This house has the safest musk ever). I get what that reviewer is talking about regarding the patchouli but I think it’s just the ginger crossed with the caramel giving it that spicy sweet tone. Or it could’ve be patchouli and they just call it ginger and caramel. But honestly whatever is going on I don’t mind it because this fragrance is so pretty. Besides, it’s not the soul of this fragrance and it’s well balanced with raspberry, candy, fresh ambergris giving a salty breeze, creamy musk, a pinch of spice, a fluffy lipstick feeling, that are all happening at once and work together very well. (Btw if ‘I’ actually like the musk it’s a very very safe musk) I have a sample of this & the more I wear it the more I love it. It’s so soft, fruity, feminine. Don’t be afraid of the patchouli comments the base is not patchouli it’s actually ambergris. I’ve been wearing it 2 days and it’s definitely a salty elegant ambergris & musk base for this perfume. I bought a full bottle.

It's a beautiful scent. Very likeable, crowd pleaser in a way - soft, creamy, fruity scent, very feminine. You can certainly smell raspberry and musk here, maybe a hint of iris and lychee, other notes are not really prominent, especially ginger note stated above, I don't trace it at all. Like someone stated below - I find it hard to imagine someone not liking it, it's like a basket of kittens. This is such a versatile scent - I could easily see one wearing it on a date, in the office or even at a wedding. I personally love this, it is such an easy grab, however the price point is a bit high.

On first spray you get that burst of raspberry... but after a few minutes it tones down and becomes a sweet and powdery girlie fragrance. This is one of those fragrances that smell like the bottle! I would say a spring fragrance for sure. Very reminiscent of Almaz by Kajal. I’m happy with my purchase.

This is a love! Such an easy grab. The lychee is amazing with the musk- it's fruity but not overwhelmingly so (the iris sticks around adding a magnificent balance). Do not be afraid of the musk, if you're typically a musk hater... this girl is clean, light and musky (not the funky, dirty musk) with delicious lychee. It is so elegant and feminine. I can't stop smelling myself. This is 100000% going to be my spring signature scent. So good.

I just love this! I don't have anything like it in my collection! It is really well balanced, because it’s sweet, fruity, fresh, powdery, floral, and musky without veering too much in any direction. The compliments also keep rolling in, so it's a crowd pleaser. Longevity is pretty good, as well as sillage. A successful blind buy!

I’m not normally a gourmand girly, but this one is a lovely fruity floral gourmand. I don’t find it overly sweet although clearly some others do. It also doesn’t feel as “young” as some other gourmands. I can wear to the office this as a professional middle-aged woman without any concerns.

Out of all I have tried from this house. This one is probably my favorite. It’s very soft very feminine. Fruity, musky, soft floral in the very very background. The dry down is a little bit vintage. That’s my only complaint.

A sweet, fizzy, powdery musk with a sheer berry tint. Imagine those click baity photo ads you sometimes see with "The Worlds Most Beautiful Girl - How She Looks Now" You notice the loveliest, most angelic child with sun-streaked mousey hair, gossamer golden skin and huge green eyes rimmed with an apricot glow then you click to the 'now' and she has morphed into a slender teen with a modelling contract and a large pink pastel bag - this is how the inside of her bag smells, violety-irisy powdery make up in a freshly laundered cotton make up pouch, berry glosses and balms, tart, sweet, fizzy, sherberty candies and cool French chiclet and bubblegums spilling out along with other assorted cool, colourful charming tchotchkes. Not so much for sophisticates but more so sophisti-kids. A Biarritz beauty in loafers and baby blue with so much to share in a What's In My Bag Vogue smell-o-vision edition Youtube video. This screams Spring more than any other season.

The raspberry lychee combo in this fragrance may be the most juicy sweet divine fruity smell I've ever smelled in perfumery. Obsessed. The iris is definitely present with the fruits in the opening, and then the violet comes through and remains throughout the wear. I get some sweetness from the caramel, but this is not gourmand as it doesn't smell edible. It is sweet though. Can't really smell the ginger, but I trust it is there. The only thing I don't like about it is the ambergris. To be fair, I loathe ambergris as well as ambroxan. So if you don't mind it, don't worry. I wish it wasn't in this fragrance. It'll probably keep me from buying a whole bottle, but I'll definitely use up my sample. Ahhhh, why oh why is that slightly salty animalic ambergris in there.

For an iris, musky perfume, I find Hypnotic Musk quite sharp. It’s obviously more complex than just that, being composed around powdery flowers: iris and violet, fruits: raspberries, bergamot and lychee, gourmand facets: caramel, ginger and vanilla, woods and ambergris. Don’t know what exactly to pin point here, but it’s something that throws me off, the ambergris maybe, not quite sure, but I don’t love Hypnotic Musk. And smells very designer like, not niche to me. It’s a like, has good longevity and more of a moderate throw and it smells very good, but there’s no spark. Comparing this with another Micallef I am testing currently, Glamour has more appeal and oomph, so this just feels ok. Glad I have tried it, but it’s not my jam!

I’m mainly getting lychee and soft musk. It almost smells like sour watermelon candy or a fruity shampoo from the 90s. Hypnotic Musk is extremely feminine and would suit a girl in their 20s but it is not as juvenile as I’ve made it sound with my description. As a woman in my late 30s I think I could pull this off if I was feeling fun and girlie. The violet note is prominent and reminiscent of Insolence by Guerlain. This smells carefree and easy going and definitely appropriate for spring and summer. I’m trying not to let the tacky bottle put me off the juice! I can imagine this being mass appealing and a compliment magnet.

So I have some issues with my sense of smell currently, so I will update this when I try it again in a few months... in the hopes things are back to normal. For me this opens with the raspberry and litchi. I love the opening. After a few minutes, the musk appears, then the iris and ambergris. It kind of reminds me of Meraki by Botanicae, which I have and love. Although Meraki isn’t musky, it’s a powdery Strawberry/Blackcurrent/Fig fragrance which also has iris, vanilla, sandalwood and violet. Testing them side by side there are some similarities, however I enjoy Meraki more, so currently this is pass for me.

basically if Sora Dora Mallow were a skin scent, it would be this. Mallow is also powdery though, which this one is not. It reminded me how much a love Sora Dora Mallow. I get how this can be really mass appealing. Very feminine and sweet, but because it's quiet and a bit musky it's doesn't come across as offensively sweet or immature. Well-blended, nothing stands out or interferes. I have absolutely nothing to say against it, especially considering that it's basically a collection of some of my fav notes, it's just lacking a bit of oomph for me to want a full bottle. Very nice though

Blindbuy from France. I need more time and wear with the fragrance but I get mostly the Lychee and Rasberry along with a soft violet. Smells feminine, delicately sweet and the opening reminds me of Guerlains French Kiss. I believe with time and wear it will be a love. More of a fruity floral.

First spray had me intrigued—she came in sweet with that fruity raspberry flirtation and eased into a creamy, smooth musk like a silk robe at dusk. I thought I had found a signature. Light, current, a little gourmand-ish with an elegant hush. Seductive in a way that doesn’t scream, just stares you down softly. But by the third wear, the spell broke. She’s cute but not unforgettable. That unique touch I thought I found? More like a fleeting illusion. I’m glad I sampled—because this isn’t full-bottle worthy after all. Sampling saved me coins and heartbreak. Verdict: Beautiful intro, anticlimactic ending. Not special enough for a commitment.

Crowd-pleasing scent for sure. Raspberries and lychee are the most prominent to me, but they don’t scream like in Angel Nova (there, the raspberries punch you straight in the nose, but in a good way!). Here they whisper. There’s a powdery touch, I guess because of the violets. I don’t get any caramel or vanilla, but you can definitely detect a hint of sweetness, just not in a gourmand way. It gives me strong vibes of designer skincare or makeup products. I’ll finish the sample, but getting the full bottle? Very questionable.

I used to enjoy this fragrance but lately I've been detecting an unpleasant patchouli-like smell that's dominating my senses. While there's no patchouli listed for this fragrance, it could also be a combination of notes, maybe the ginger and ambergris? I have a FB and will never reach for it so I think it's time to get rid of it. This is such a simple and basic fragrance anyway, and I have plenty of those in my collection so even if the patchouli-like smell went away for me, it's just not special enough to keep.

Apparently I’m capable of hating a basket of kittens. 😩 It’s very fruity and tart. No caramel, violet or iris on my skin. Not what I expected at all. I get very realistic tart raspberry in a fluffy, slightly powdery, sweet violet musk. I still don’t a distinct a caramel note but maybe that’s a good thing to keep it from becoming syrupy. It is very uplifting and pretty to wear.

I received a sample of this from a friend to try and so I decided to give it a try after my shower. Sorry to say that I was not really a fan of this one it doesn’t last on my skin at all and for that price I want to be smelling this for a few hours. The notes did not okay well together on my skin but I can’t work out which bit as usually these notes I enjoy. I suspect it’s the ginger that does it for me - I’m a fan of the note in certain fragrance but in this one, on me it’s a no

Hypnotic Musk is a delicate, fruity fragrance with a hint of sharpness upon the initial spray. As it dries, the sharpness softens, blending into a sweet, fruity musk. It's quite nice and feels mass appealing and inoffensive.

06/24 I’m a sucker for Violet and I’m pretty sure that it’s the only redeeming aspect of this scent for me. Otherwise it’s too sweet for my liking.

I tested this in Jovoy, it was not what I expected at all. I only got the juicy, fruity notes for the first couple of minutes, then the iris and violet notes became prominent and was quickly left with a very, very powdery dry down - similar to Theodoros Kalotinis Cherry Powder, which is often compared to the smell of a Nivea cream. I had it on my skin for a couple of hours before I couldn't smell it any more, and it didn't develop any further. I got powdery purple florals and no fruits throughout the wear. I heard this compared to Initio Musk Therapy but fruitier, absolutely not, it's nothing like it, Musk Therapy is fresh and musky, Hypnotic Musk is just too powdery. Another release overhyped by fragrance influencers. It might be down to skin chemistry, but this is not a safe blind buy at all, test it first if you're considering it.

This is yet another level of sweetness - it`s like trying to drink raspberry and lychee syrup.

I just got this from Micallef directly. First things first, ordering from Micallef directly is a real pleasure. They have given me wonderful customer service, just like French Desk below me said. I hope more people here on fragrantica get to receive this beautiful bottle. ♥️🙌 I hardly believed it first so I double checked the E-mail I got after I ordered frags from their dessert line blindy and wrote to their customer service asking about it. (Yes I know, blind buys are not a good idea. I wish one could get testers for their dessert line too). I've written down my first impressions of them on their respective page. 🙌 But, back to this scent. As the person below me said, I can perceive a screechiness in hypnotic musk that could be ambroxan (I must add I am most times very sensitive to ambroxan and usually perceive most perfumes with this as screechy and annoying but also a bit flat and like they're missing something) and it's a bit sharp at first because of it. Or maybe it's the bergamot that does this. I get raspberry , lychee and violet as well as some iris ,I think.. it stays sharp and fruity/violet heavy for quite a while and then I get some more sweetness from what probably is the caramel but it's fleeting and disappears and reappears in the background. Not much more right now, but I just got this and it's really cold since it's been stored in a package-pickup box outside for a while, so i'll see what I get with more time and some manceration. 🙏🙂 I can add that ny S.O. loves it and I myself don't hate it, but I feel that it would probably be better in warmer weather, so i'll try it a few times. I prefer my Note vanille nectar from Micallef to hypnotic musk right now though but i'll see what this one evolves into with time. ♥️🥰

So I know I need to give this bottle a rest after being shipped. I don't know how it was treated in transit or if it was stuck on a hot truck, but out of the box, immediately it reminded me of Elysium Pour Femme by Roja. It settles very quickly into a dry musk and I get notes of raspberry and litchi. The ambergris is present and gives it a salty dry facet. I get a hint of violet and bergamot, but I don't get very much iris, vanilla, or caramel. The musk here is a sharper white musk, think White Musk from The Body Shop. These are literally like all my favorite notes and I was really looking forward to this one but sadly, they missed the mark for me. I got a sample of Pure Musk Extreme and it seems to be more in the family of that one. I really wish the caramel and vanilla were amped along with the iris and violet note. A fruity, gourmand purple floral would have been a real hit in my book, but sadly I get mostly a strong, simple musk with a little raspberry and litchi. I ordered directly from M. Micallef and received a10mL travel spray of Hypnotic Musk in a cute leather zip bag as well as 1oz of Ylang in Gold and two samples. I really appreciate this as it was a bit pricey for a blind buy and most of us had to blind buy this new launch.

Foolish of me to not do my due diligence before ordering. This is sweet, fruity and interesting at the top and mid, but I’m picking up on Ambroxan. which I’m almost certain is what comprises the ambergris accord. I’m sensitive to Ambroxan-it becomes screechy to me and disappears at times and also amplifies the tartness of the fruit up top, which is unpleasant to me. If you are not sensitive to ambroxan and enjoy it in compositions such as in Jusbox’s Carioca Heart, you might enjoy this. Not saying they smell the same but the dry down, projection are similar on both. Was hoping for a more creamy experience like with Ylang in Gold, but no need to seek more when that one is already delivering perfection to me. I will say, ordering directly from M. Micallef is a pleasant experience, with beautiful packaging and fast shipping.

Test this one first! Not what I personally expected. It could be that it just doesn't work with my skin chemistry. To my nose, raspberry and citrus combo in here smell pretty artificial, like a slightly sour fruit candy, not an actual fruit. Iris makes this super powdery and not in a good way. This scent overall is too synthetic. If you are looking for something juicy, delicate, but also powdery and chic - try Musc Moschus by Rania J. Similar notes, much superior fragrance.

These notes are speaking my language. I sure hope these are right, Fragrantica! Very tempted to preorder from M. Micallef. Apparently, you get a free 1oz of Ylang in Gold for preordering this. I already have Ylang in Gold Edition Speciale but I'd love to try the other version. Literally iris, violet, caramel, litchi and raspberry are my favorite notes along with vanilla, sandalwood and a clean musk. Please be blended beautifully, perfume gods!!

This one lasts more than I first thought. I've had it for a while and I sprayed it one week ago on my skin. I could feel it for a couple of hours, 5 ish maybe. But it's still there on the spot where my jacket and wrist touched. I was wearing a different scent today, Oriana, and could still feel hypnotic musk in the air around me when walking outside with the same jacket. Crazy tenacious scent. There must be ambroxan in this!

Decant... I like it! It’s fruity, fresh, a bit clean and a bit musky. Yes, it leans feminine... but not “extremely” like some say. I like the fact that is a sweet leaning profile that doesn’t scream candyfloss and, in my opinion, can easily be worn by a guy who likes the sweet scent bubble :) The silage is perfect for this scent profile- not to loud. And longevity is acceptable at a 6 hour mark.

Raspberry candy musk that’s a little tart, a little sweet and a little fruity. Hypnotic Musk is light and ethereal, and would be a very lovely choice for a young woman dipping her toes into niche fragrances. This perfume smells fabulous on fabric. I may go through another travel spray in the future but I’m not sure it is full bottle worthy for me.

This is a pretty, raspberry heavy, fruity musk. It's nice, easy to wear, but REALLY reminds me of something from Bath & Body Works. For this price, I don't wanna smell like B&BW. I can't place the fragrance though. I just know it doesn't smell as expensive as it is. I still give it an 8/10 b/c it projects well and lasts well on the skin.

I love this fruity musk. Very likable, easy to wear, good all year. It opens bright and uplifting, and it settles into a powdery musk with far less fruit. The ripe peach and juicy melon fade into a comforting but sophisticated musk. Not animalic, but also not obviously ambrette. Its rich and beautiful. Definitely FBW for me.

This is sweet, fruity and fluffy. It is mass appealing and an easy reach. I would caution though that the scent profile is very common and this may be redundant in your collection. I like it but I have quite a few similar profiles in my collection and don’t think I need to pay niche prices for a full bottle of this one.

This reminds me of Gritti Tutu, it has the same bright/sparkling feel. It is less sweet however, and more tart/zingy. I like it but it's not as amazing as I thought it would be. Also I didn't find the longevity to be impressive. It seemed like it only lasted a few hours before I couldn't really smell it anymore.

The fragrance name took me here but after I saw the composition and ingredients all I can say is: Jesus, another powdery musky fragrance which in no way can be "hypnotic". Will every woman fragrance be powdery now? Or can we live without it? We somehow managed without it in the past.

Warm candied raspberry and iris scent. Very feminine and seductive. The musk is fluffy and well behaved. I think this is a beautiful scent. I might get a full bottle.
