Jewel for Him

No pun intended, but this is really a hidden gem! Great scent reminding me a tiny bit of TdH with lots ISO E Super and the orange replaced by grapefruit that gives it a kick and afterwards ending on a peppery woody cedar base with musk, cardamom and traces of incense. Some time ago, I was at a meet-up with other fragheads and from the 60+ fragrances we tested, this one really stood out to me. I asked the owner (a friendly fellow Fragrantican) if I could have a small sample for further testing, to which he politely agreed. About one month later, having tested it several times, I knew I had to have it. It's a very fresh spring and summer scent, super classy, office suitable and very versatile. Admitted, the retail pricing at around $200 for 100 ml may be a bit over the top for a scent that in many ways is a niche version of TdH eau Tres Fraiche, but if you find it anywhere for a reasonable price I can highly recommend it. As bigdaddy mentions below, the "rich mans TdH" is not totally off, though I'd prefer this to TdH. A great piece of work from Msr. Astier.

An exceptionally beautiful woody aromatic chypre ( think of a high quality Terre D’Hermes), this is another nice offering from the woefully overlooked house of Micallef. The perfume opens with citrus aromatic notes of bergamot, lemon, pepper and cardamom. At its heart is vetiver, cedar and patchouli. The perfumes dries to a powdery oakmoss, surrounded by incense, benzoin and musk. Masculine leaning with moderate to strong projection and excellent longevity. A scent perfect for warm summer days on a confident man. Enjoy!

Jewel for him: Actually I like it. It smells natural. I get: an earthy, dry, blend. At first it's a little bit old school to me, probably because of the patchouli. After a while the scent becomes more herbal-like, maybe a bit towards Terre des Hermes. The overall atmosphere reminds me of clay! Quite nice. I don't know if I'd buy it though (I have a sample sprayer which I've tried a few times). 7,5/10

Beautiful. Jewel starts off with a hefty dose of elegant citruses, incense, and vetiver. It later dries down to an incredible patchouli and benzoin blend, along with smooth vetiver and cedar wrapped in fine smoke. The composition strikes me full of class and elegance. Comparing Jewel to Terre does not do it any justice, they are simply dimensions apart. I like "Terre D'Hermes" but I love "Jewel".

I see the similarities to Terre d'Hermes but it's a bit more complex...like Maison Micallef took Ellena's original composition and fleshed it out a bit. The opening is prettier, and has a more floral tilt. The heart and base are very similar to TDH, but less mineral and less minimalist.

A lovely fragrance! TF Oud Wood meets Terre'd Hermes. Sillage could be better, but of you like those dna's and want a lovely citrus, Vetiver, woodsy office safe scent, then this is a very good choice. I bought this blind and it was a succes for me.

A hidden gem for sure, beautiful vetiver fragrance Smokey, and woody, backed by citrus’s. I kind of see the comparisons to Hermès, but this one hits different for me and is better.

I just love it! And it gets attention as a high class, non common smell.

Jewel for him opens very green and masculine with some citrus notes in the mix, mostly lemon. Then earthy notes appear together with vetiver and spices. The pepper is prominent. Cedar shows up next together with cardamom. Then, the base notes develop-- an incensy musk, on a base of vetiver-patchouli-cedar. The scent dries down into a nice strong cardamom scent with an earthy woody twist. Longevity is long, sillage is moderate to heavy. I love this scent, I'm a big fan of cardamom and this is a winner. I like it on myself, and maybe I would wear it, but I think this is best suited for a man.

Jewel is an elagant & discreet warm weather scent for day & night with uncommon smell. There's a similarity with Hermes Terre but Jewel is more subtle, more elegant with a sub-sweet vibe with greater versatility than Hermes Terre. This is year round fragrance and you can wear it anytime, any place. It would be also nice for office scent. I get dominant smooth vetiver, strong cedar, mild bergamot, faint incense which gives a nice subtle smoky touch, smooth benzoin. Performance is moderate overall. Very elegant masculine scent. If you own Hermes Terre is not redundant owning Jewel imo.

That one is actually original — the necessity of repairing a gas installation at a summer camp in the forest, metallic notes and greases combined with fresh resin. Maybe it’s that benzoin plus conifers and cardamom. Perhaps there really is some reminiscence of Hermes, but it’s a distant reflection, as the composition here is more reminiscent of ink than grass, something industrial, some kind of ironwork.

Ehhh, I don't think this holds a candle to TdH. Longevity and sillage are terrible--this barely lasted 30 min on my skin--and it's way overpriced for those reasons. I see *some* resemblance to TdH; there is a muted citrus opening, but Jewel is more earthy, woody, and smokey. It has potential though. I'm going to let it macerate for a bit and see if anything changes. If you want something closer to TdH, try Red Vetiver by Montale.

Avoid. Diluted overpriced scents. I have blind bought four this week and they are all weak and banal, i would even say low quality. The only one that might be saved is Royal Vintage, which is a smokey Aventus clone

As a huge fan of Terre d’Hermes, I had dismissed this for years with skepticism, wondering how Micallef could improve upon what was already in my mind a classic. Recently I bought Jewel on a whim. So much time had passed that I no longer remembered that it had been compared to Terre, so I wasn’t looking or expecting the similarity when I first applied it. What I noticed first was a dark grapefruit note paired with a nice Vetiver—a bit smoky and dark, with a peppery facet and some ISO E Super cedar aspect swirling in the mix. I liked it. It smelled like a refined, modern men’s masculine of the “forest” variety, certainly not intended to scream for attention or attempt to seduce the younger, club crowd. It had the distinct-yet-non-distracting, versatile character of a signature scent, casually elegant daily wear for any guy above 30, and came across affable, leaning slightly serious. Then I suddenly remembered and realized that indeed, this must be the Micallef that gets compared to Terre d’Hermes all the time, as the similarity became immediately apparent. And while they ARE similar, I don’t mind that I’ve picked up Jewel as well, because as far as I’m concerned, it’s different enough from Terre and has something to offer of its own. Jewel has a more elegant, reserved feel to it, and smells a more natural overall. It’s darker than Terre, and maybe better suited for those cold, gray winter days, whereas TdH functions best in the fall. Terre is more distinctly mineralic to my nose—there’s a hefty dose of “flint” or some kind of stone in Terre, but I don’t get that in Jewel, which instead lends more earth and smoke—the smell of soil and roots rather than the stones and rocks that are around them. For what it’s worth, TdH is my all-time favorite fragrance...it was love at first sniff. So I’ll probably never like Jewel more or be able to tell you that Jewel is better, but it’s an excellent darker companion to the Hermes, and one I’ll reach for when I want a mellow alternative that I can dress up when the mood strikes. Performance is solid, with about 6 to 7 hours of longevity, and a steady projection hanging close to the body at around a foot or less. People near you will notice Jewel, but it shouldn’t distract anyone either. Thumbs up for this solid offering from M, Micallef.

It's a great contemporary masculine scent in the vein of Terre d'Hermes, as already many here mentioned but done in a reacher and more refined manner. I find here spices, citruses and first and foremst woods with vetiver and cedar at the first places. Jewel has a great peformance for my tastes. It is not loo loud bad nicely preceivable and it lasts on my skin through the most of the day. I really feel very elegant and classy wearing this. As much as I love Terre since the year of its introduction (depsite the reformulation), Jewel is one of my all time favourites. Don't belive people who say this is weak and has no performance. All M.Micallef perfumes I've tried (and there where plenty of it) had great sillage and were long lasting. This brand makes on of the best perfumes on the market and they don't overprice them at all! I highly recommend the Jewel for him. It is pure class!

Saying that Jewel For Him disappointed me, would be just an euphemism. A woody citrus fragrance with hints of incense, a remarkable Iso E Super base and the, by now, omni-present peppery note. Ok, it smells nice, but it smells somewhat generic and "inoffensively-modern". I love modernity when it's paired to inventiveness, experimentation and creativity but not when it is used as a cliché. Jewel for Him is nice but resembles tones of masculine fragrances of the past 10 years. Not even close justifying a 200+ price tag. Pass... Rating: 5-6/10

Actually this one is very close to Red Vetiver by Montale. Red Vetiver is tribute to terre d'hermes. It's a richer, a little bit gourmand version of masterpiece. Jewel is richer version of Red Vetyver. It has strong note of benzoin. For me it's too much. I prefer Terre for his orginality and Red Vetiver for taking Terre d'Hermes to another level. All in all - Jewel is still good, rich scent. It is definitely worth of test.

I really like micallef as a perfume house, they do alot of very nice smelling fragrances, yes they are safe and nothing complex but they do frags well! this is very similiar to terre d hermes, i find this to be smoother and more refined, no harsh edges, this will get you loads of compliments and a perfect winter scent! spicy warm peppery sweet juice.. 7.5/10... i prefer this to hermes.

I'ts A More Expensive Smell Very Similer To Terre De Hermes But a Little Softer.And A Bigger Price Tag.
