Mon Parfum Gold

This is... surprising. I blind bought this because a certain site had it on sale for stupidly cheap (for it's retail price anyway). So I bought it with zero expectations. I have had problems in the past with M. Micallef scents being nearly scentless unless applied with a very heavy hand. My mini bottle of Ylang in Gold has no odor unless you bathe in the stuff for example. Perhaps these really must be sprayed. The bottle is far, far lighter than I expected. I assumed it would be heavy glass with very sparkling crystals. It's not. The bottle is light as a feather, the gold paint is very matte and the black crystals are also very matte, flat, not terribly sparkly. I sprayed once on my arm and was immediately enveloped in scent. Two sprays would be my max with this, anything more and I suspect it would make one nauseous and send those around you fleeing for the exits. The scent in the air is heady, and sweet. Like banana bread fresh from the oven. The yellow flowers are buttery and almost fruity in scent texture. The wood is the subconscious awareness of ancient wooden walls warmed by the sun. They don't' really smell of wood, just an ancient woody texture. If there is incense it is just the trail of scent left long after the incense has burned out and dried int the air. There is amber I think, at the very bottom, sweet and clear and yellow. This is far better than I expected. It is warm sunshine through the window on a winter day while you are baking or sitting in front of a fire. It is cozy and warm and slightly ancient, an edge of elegance and opulence but not enough that I couldn't wear this with jeans and a flannel shirt (what I'm wearing today) with comfort. I might want to put on some pearls though...

I absolutely LOVED this while I had it. I would wear it sometimes while writing creative stories, and dynamic characters and places would sometimes come to mind. I envisioned being in the Ancient woodlands whenever I wore this. So I guess I can say that this fragrance sometimes helped with my all too common-occurrences of writer’s block. The creamy white and yellow florals married with the ancient woods and incense somehow read as somewhat lifted and bright on my skin, it’s an overall intelligent fragrance, not too dreary and dark, but it has a penchant for playing into that noir mood if you let it: it’s in no way uplifting. It’s inspiring, but I wouldn’t go as far as to say that it evokes happiness. It’s pensive, aloof, almost regal, but not melancholy. It’s incredibly evocative of winter days in an oak paneled library with rare ancient tomes of hidden knowledge, with a hearth fire crackling in the background. This concoction that is M Micallef Mon Parfum Gold was heavenly, ancient in the best possible way and unique. I also pick up this herbal note in the background. It’s not a piercing or scratchy fragrance, it’s delightfully smooth, and is incredibly transportive. Mitsouko from Guerlain is the only other fragrance that had such a strong effect on me as this. I don’t usually gravitate for mature fragrances such as this, but this one had me pining for it. I LOVED the tuberose in here as well, but while comparing this to my Armani Rouge Malachite, that one won. So alas, this one went to my ex boyfriend’s mom as a gift.

The opening is fruity, like orange mixed with a hint of plum sweetness. Very quickly the fruit is wrapped by florals. Ylang-ylang adds a slightly oily texture, making the fruit feel softer and smoother. There is also a faint touch of pink pepper adding a subtle spice. In the heart it becomes a white-floral composition. Tuberose is the most noticeable element, but not in an overpowering way. It feels slightly toned down, creamy and soft, with a faint milky quality. Jasmine prevents the florals from becoming one-dimensional sweetness, while orange blossom adds a light bitterness. The impression is like a dense bouquet of white flowers, with the scent expanding outward and showing clear layers. As time passes the florals slowly fade and the base begins to appear. Woods emerge first, followed by a faint smoky nuance from incense. Amber and vanilla bring warmth to the base, and the fragrance gradually becomes softer and closer to the skin. The overall development is not dramatic. The transitions between fruit, white florals, and woods are smooth, without sudden shifts. The opening carries a slightly mature fruity-floral tone, the middle is a dense white-floral bouquet, and the drydown settles into warm woods and resins. The overall character leans warm, so it feels more comfortable in cooler weather.

Winter wear - I love this version of Mon Parfum. It's intense, dramatic even. Slightly smoky, as if burnt incense mixed with precious wood was the fuel to warm up the rest of the aromatic companions. High quality amber fell into one cauldron with plums, ylang-ylang and tuberose. To add structure, soft musk was added. It has sweet nuances, but I do not feel vanilla. The sweetness feels waxy - exotic flowers with their pollen rather than vanilla pod. Very balmy, warm, enveloping. A classic, timeless and beautiful creation. A drop of it, anywhere, and it explodes in scented miracle.

Gosh, I love this one. I think it’s severely underrated and hardly ever talked about. It’s a deep and mysterious scent, and it reminds me a lot of Replica Jazz Club, but more feminine-leaning. It’s moody, alluring, woodsy, bewitching and comforting. It somehow remains light and airy despite it having smoke, incense and fruits in the notes. Nothing about it compels me to scrub it off. It totally reminds me of a lounge bar or film noir. I am grateful to have a bottle and a back up of this discontinued treasure.

It opens in March with evergreen effect and orange blossom, tangerine and smoke. Underneath luscious plums and ylang ylang enhance the mood. It feels floral and balmy, deep and effervescent. Tuberose joins the spectacle as one of the voices. From the base I feel vanilla, wood and amber but nearly silent yet slightly resinous and sweet. Beautiful creation. It is perfect in autumn and winter, I had no idea it is so good in spring. It lasts and lasts and I feel this gorgeous scent a morning after.

From the official manufacturer sample the notes for this are actually: Top Notes: Pear, Bergamot, Citrus, Grapefruit Heart Notes: Rose, Peach, Patchouli Base Notes: Musk, Vanilla, Tobacco, Raspberry If you like sweet scents with layers of sophistication try this one out, it is right up there with the best of this type.

Testing from a dab on mini: Woody, smoky, warm and a bit gritty. Gorgeous and comforting winter scent with amazing longevity and pretty good projection. Very classy indeed and very pricey too.

Oh my.. blind buy and I am absolutely mesmerised. This perfume pulsates and dances for hours. Its multi dimensional. There are insence with fruit and vanilla. So complex and amazing

The ylang ylang is suppressed by the woodsy notes but its still a feminine scent.

I have micallef Mon parfum and this one has nothing to do with the original It opens with a warm and golden scent of oily ylangylang but soon darker woody notes kick in and cover the florals On my skin,it's rich,deel and very woody.I can't detect much of incense in the shape I'm used to smell it in other fragrances but woody notes are warm and smokey here and smell like vetiver while light touch of amber and florals keep it in sensual feminine territory but all in all it can easily pass as unisex After couple of hours,wood's heaviness mellows down a bit and gives way to a soft and warm,a tad powdery scent of florals-amber,I can even feel a hint of something like musky vanilla.I like it better in this stage,it's more feminine and less smokey I see that in other reviews it's called a sweet scent but not on me.it doesn't have slightest hint of sweetness to my nose in first hours of application but at least four hours after application when it finally dries down,I start to notice a soft sweetness hovering over this sensual and smooth scent It's too woody for my taste in it's first hours but still I can feel how high quality it is.it's a grown up scent,full of class and originality and smells expensive.it's drydown smells so gorgeous, cozy and charming that makes me press the like bottom One spray lasted on my skin for +10 hours.sillage is moderate

Opening I can smell the plum and Ylang Ylang even though this has a very dark woods vibe. I really really like the opening! It is so well done and the notes are just super enjoyable. A couple mins after the opening of fruit and flowers, the pink pepper comes in and it very dominate, but coupled with all the white flowers. You have to like more unique blend to understand or love this one. As it drys down it becomes very cozy, the smoke/incense add to the dark woods. I really like it but it is not a love. I bought this in the spring but am hoping to try this out in the fall or winter and a darker day. It has this effect of wanting you to go back and smell it again and again.

"Mon Parfum Gold" is rather interesting scent - very rich and powerful. It's not particularly floral, the most dominant note for me was a buttery ylang - ylang. There was no incense whatsoever, but I clearly felt loads of sweet, yet clean amber. Staying power was excellent and I really did enjoy the scent for the most of the time. At some point trough the dry down though it got a bit too musky for myself. "Mon Parfum Gold" is also extremely feminine, the sweetness flies trough all the development of the scent, it's very warm and sensual. I'm not sure this is worth the 190 EUR price tag, but this was enjoyable nevertheless.

To me, this is a smoky and woodier version of Marfa. I liked it, but gave it to my mom because I also own Marfa and I prefer that one. Mon Parfum Gold was a blind buy for me and when I first sprayed it I literally yelled "Marfa" lmao. That's just the initial spray tho, because the smokiness and woodiness comes out pretty quickly. I think it's much more appropriate for fall/winter tho, so I might steal it back from my mom to see how it wears in the colder weather ghehe.

I wanted this for a long time, based on the raving reviews. And I finally got it and purchased it blindly, but I don't love it. The presentation is superb, Micallef has her own class with regards to presentation. The scent to me is unisex, not feminine enough, at least the middle phase. It is a woody , slightly floral amber, that sticks to skin for a long time, I just sprayed one spray on the back of my hand and it's not going anywhere even though I washed my hands with soap, this is tenacious. Apart from a ton of wood, a good amount of amber, some musk, a dollop of ylang and a dash of insense I do not smell much else, except maybe some boozy jasmine in the top notes. It's elegant and somber, it doesn't match my current mood of gourmands and fruity florals at all. I think it's could be good for fall or winter, I don't see anyone wanting to smell this way in spring or summer, it's heavy. Heavy is a good thing if you like the scent, at least you don't pay for scented water, I guess. It actually matches the stunning black satin base, and the asymmetric gold bottle adorned with black diamonds around a round window. Very original. It is a beautiful presentation. I'd be happy to swap it for something more feminine, and I have a 100 ml bottle brand new in box just sprayed one.. If you are in Canada pm me! Edit : the dry down get warmer and slightly vanillic, but a long time needs to pass to get there.... Please someone (from Canada) swap with me. I still haven't worn it, and probably never will.

All I can smell here is leather. I don't think it's a safe blind buy.

Mon Parfum gold is all about dark, deep woodsy notes on me. Unisex. A very nice scent - and a good scent to put layer on layer with other scents for example fresh fruity or sweet flowery scents. The first hour Gold has good sillage but after an hour it goes into my skin and stays for hours. Mon Parfum Gold är bara mörka, djupa tränoter på mig. Unisex. En fin doft att ha lager på lager med tex fruktiga eller sötblommig dofter. Första timmen så har Gold en fin utstrålning men efter 1 timme så blir den en hudnära doft - som sitter i många timmar.

Very strong & long lasting. Too woody for me. I think it would smell better on a man.

This opens bright, and solar. Ylang-ylang and white florals smell like warm sun on skin. As it develops, the vanilla warms up. There is a earthy, dirt in the base, not damp soil, dry dirt, anchoring the tropical fruit/vanilla sweetness. I haven’t had mine long but I believe this could easily be wearable any time of year. It would be beautiful in a hot summer night or with a fluffy sweater, by the fireplace.
