This is something really different. What is that off-putting note in here?... Oh, leather? This didn't even come to my mind when smelling this on hand and shirt. This smells to me very dark, maybe even as some "gothic" type of dark. Woody? Kind of. But leather? Well, I still can't quite believe this is leather here that makes it a little off-putting and as I read from reviews, some people my gag on it. I totally understand it. For me though, it smells very interesting and deep. If this is really leather then another kind than what it usually is. I would use descriptions like avant-garde and niche. Accidentally, I smelt something similar this week. If there is anyone who's into dark and deep, unusual smells that are on the other end of the so-called crows-pleasers, try this: Oud Pour Leather by Khadlaj (yes, it's relatively cheap). This scent goes even deeper and further away from being anything generally "accepted", despite the note list in their homepage. Maybe it meant to be used very little. One can certainly layer or mix. This is the most unusual and/or animalic leather I have ever smelt, it's like being in taxidermists' working room or something like that although I've never been to such a place. For those who think RedColorado smells bad, Oud Pour Leather smells twice as bad. But it's not the badness of cheap stuff, that is different. So I would use the same words to that one: avant-garde, niche, unusual x2. So, both of these make me seriously think: what is a perfume and what makes some people like it and others hate it? Who would be the persons really wearing it among others? They are both challenging and the mere existence of such stuff is an interesting fact to ponder about. And smell them sometimes. I just love them, at least I can tell so now... So yea, as a consequence, I don't really know what those various woody notes are doing here. It is woody as a perfume note and as a general appreciation but at least I don't feel any resemblance to any particular tree, neither in nature nor as cut. After half an hour patchouli starts taking over, that is quite evident and matches the note. Which is nice because by this scent I have yet another interesting manifestation of patchouli. Serious stuff, not for beginners or faint-hearted. Similarity to Interlude Man? Yes and no. Yes because after an hour or so RedColorado has a similar incense smell on hand but I consider them different because Interlude Man is so much more powerful and has other things in it. Interlude Man isn't for the faint-hearted either but I never thought it could be anything challenging, it was just distinctive and very good, very bold.

RedColorado opens like a burly fougère from 1978-1985, like a distant cousin of Caron’s Yatagan perhaps. In a few minutes heart notes very reminiscent of Interlude opens up, but rounded with balsam, fir and sandalwood instead of amber. Very, very nice touch that makes the heavily spiced, dry heart to be a lot more wearable than Interlude. In fact, I have had a 10ml decant of Interlude for quite some time, but never got a full bottle because it is hard to find occasions for it. RedColorado on the other hand, is suitable even for the office if you spray lightly. All seasons except the hottest days of summer.

If you want to smell like freshly cut red cedar and pine trees, this is the fragrance for you. Unmistakably masculine for sure and very natural smelling. I personally do not see the comparison to Interlude but that’s just me. Also, this can easily be worn year round, even in an office. You just have to do this thing that many fragrance enthusiasts don’t know how to do which is limit or control the number of sprays.

I like it. Very distinctive and unique. I think the name is very fitting. It has an earthiness, natural fir/pine aromatics, dry woods. It smells like a dry Colorado basin. There is a warmth and a spiciness, even a ruggedness. Leather jacket type of vibe. Somewhat strange, but alluring. Worth buying on a discount.

Powerful coniferous needles and wood, with soft smoke and an intense hit of cinnamon-like spice. Not for the faint of heart. Still, I am finding it compelling. I like the idea of layering this with something I want to give a woodsy, earthy spin to.

I look at the overall rating this one has and just laugh at how entry level some noses are. This is a beautiful green scent, and my favorite Micallef - i am on my second bottle of it, and this is a go-to for me in the spring and fall seasons.

If you want to smell like a south western Colorado forest, this is for you. Extremely natural, smooth and wearable. A unique scent, yet addictive. A niche scent, but easily enjoyed by all. High quality perfumery here. It’s a love.

Love at first sniff Original, deep, high quality smokey woody scent. Very wearable and not harsh.

Its quite good quality like Interlude. Dry down really remind me to Supremacy Incense. 7/10

RedColorado is my third acquisition from the house of Micallef. An unusual beast, this one. For once, I think the "similar to" section here on Fragrantica is accurate. RedColorado sits between Interlude, Costume National's Secret Woods and M.A. Barrois's Encelade. It has Interlude's trademark unusual licorice-y smoky note, Secret Wood's dry woodiness and Encelade's earthiness. On me, the wear is interesting, it keeps jumping between these three when I catch whiffs of it. On strip, it mostly stays similar to Interlude. So weird! There's an underlying vanillic touch that seems to throw people off too. To me, it just reminds me of Interlude's base. Perhaps that's what does this "licorice-y" note I pick up. So, yes, you need to love woodiness and smokiness and loving the aforementioned three fragrances is a bonus. It's smoother than all three of them, oddly enough. No Interlude beastly harshness here. This is smooth, but very dry, something like the red rock from Colorado basins which perhaps is what inspired the name. Very piney too at times, especially in the opening. I need more wear time to understand this properly but it's certainly unusual and interesting, much more so on skin than on strip. It lasts quite a long time (a good 6-8 hours on me) although it doesn't project as much as Interlude (thank god!). The trail I was told is quite pleasant and manly. That's how I would describe this: rugged yet enticing. Definitely a cold season wear. I understand why it's divisive but personally, I'm in for it. Not their best perhaps, but definitely unique and warming.

When I stumbled upon the profile of this fragrance on here, I immediately thought this would be another addition to my inner circle of woodsy (not to be confused with woody) scents. Eau de Cèdre and Bottega Veneta Pour Homme are among my personal Mount Rushmore so when I see a cologne with cypress, pine, fir and cedar in it, I assume i hit paydirt. I do like it, yet I'm still a tad let down. I like the overall evergreen theme of the fragrance, but there's also an onion-italian hoagie in the opening note that you have to get past to get to the woody, piney notes. Once it dries down, it does indeed deliver on that rustic, masculine evergreen promise indicated in the note breakdown. Don't get any of the smokey or incense notes that other commenters have mentioned. Though I did see someone say this was more pine tar or resinous than actual pine, which I would probably agree with. Could be more bold and bright. This ends up being a little more dark and dirty than the vibrance I had anticipated. I reckon that isn't an overall terrible thing. Pretty linear, which could be fine, if not for whatever gives off that onion vibe. Lucky the onion dissipates very quickly. I'll return to this review if I end up liking it more than I currently do to rebuke myself. But for now, I am happy to have this in my collection, but it hasn't supplanted any of my previous upper tier frags.

99% full bottle for swap if interested (12/18/23) @thornycomplexrose below, very 70s burly man vibes (just my type) but I get that he's riding on horseback. I get very old school leather vibes from this. Feel like it's something my dad would have worn to a disco (if my dad did such a thing). This has nothing to do with interlude. Not sure where people are getting that. Interlude is very dry smoke. This barely gives a smoke vibes, and while sharp, there is a smoothness about it. Probably the manliest thing I own next to fetish pour home. I like fetish better though. It's very dirty leather and this is on the sharper clean leather side if that makes sense.

Experienced this in a store. Smelling the atomiser, and under the cap it gave off an aroma exactly like the smokiness and character of Interlude, however not as strong an ‘beastly’. This was a smoother and more toned down version, but still with the same DNA. Spraying it on a test strip, the opening was a completely different animal. Piney and with a hint of sourness,..it wasn’t that appealing, however the leather and smokiness soon started to open up, and the sourness went away. I would like to get a decant of this on e to try out properly. As a big fan of Interlude, I think this would scratch the same itch, but in a more everyday, wearable way.

I want to start off by saying that this is not my type of fragrance. However, I can appreciate it. I think you need to be a fan of patchouli to really like this. To me it reminds me slightly of a pine/woody much more green version of Black Afgano by Nasomatto. When it first was sprayed on me, I also kind of had this Hallmark winter Christmas vibe, but from the man perspective. The dry down is very nice though! I really enjoyed this on my boyfriend when it dried down. The leather and vanilla really compliment the rest of the middle notes while it is settling. I think a lot of people will really enjoy this, just not my type of woody scent.

Opens up with a cut and clear, clean musk, while gracefully transitioning into a sharp fougère, then into a freshly cut OSB/plywood smell, with a clean edge. The clean edge slowly loses steam, making the wood shaving/cut plywood accord stick out. This facet is here to stay, and this is comparable to Black Lacquer by Tom Ford, but it's admittedly a simpler approach. Unusual frag for sure, but not really something I dig at the moment for a bottle.

As a huge fan of Micallef and Jean Claude Astier, I've been a bit displeased with their latest additions. I was really looking forward to RedColorado due to the note breakdown, and overall fixation I have with the house. But there really is not much to say about RedColorado, other than its discernibly inspired by Interlude Man. Its greener and creamier. Not as smokey, or harsh, but instead more understated, fresher and smoother. Basically, if Interlude Man were a fougere, this is what it would smell like. It definitely has all the Micallef and Geoffrey Nejman 'tweaks' they are known for whenever reconstructing scent profiles, but still I am left discomposed as I don't particular enjoy Interlude Man.(Nor anything Amouage produces in general for that matter.) However, to those that do, will find this fragrance right up their alley, for half of the cost.

This is an odd one for me. On initial spray it reminds me of masculine scents from the 1970s. Azzaro, Old spice etc.. To be clear, it doesn't smell like those, it just gives off that vibe. As expected there is a blast of pine and leather. However the pine is fresh green pine resin, from a living pine tree branch and not an old dry pine resin from lumber, an old cabin or a dead tree roasting in the sun on a Colorado mountain. Although it starts off masculine, the rose, and vanilla are in the background and give this a feminine vibe, especially on the dry down. Overall its a nice scent, but it's little too strong and a little too unisex for me.

You've gotta get closer to this one to appreciate it. Starts boring and typical, but get greener and more interesting as it wears. Unfortunately, never really goes anywhere. The pine doesn't do as much as I'd like here, and instead of any pronunciation, we get a rigmarole of loosely defined notes that never really come together into anything more than...an air freshener. Boring.

This is my first time writing a review on this website. I haven’t found a reason to comment on a fragrance til now. Looking at the note breakdown I was intrigued by this fragrance and it seemed like something up my alley so I ordered a sample, now spraying this on a tester strip or in the air this smelled fantastic. Masculine, yes. A little too mature for me to pull off wearing? Yes. But I appreciate the scent and I still do but for some reason when I first sprayed this on my skin, no exaggeration, I almost threw up. This is the first fragrance to ever make me actually gag. I don’t know what it is if it’s the way it reacts with my skin but it smelled what I can only imagine as rotting flesh. I don’t know why it just smelled awful it was disappointing because like I said in the air or on a tester it smelled fine.

Just got a travel size from M. Micallef and this will definitely be difficult for most to pull off, especially the opening. The dry down is fairly nice, but it’s a pass for me. Bold niche lovers will be happy I would think.

I was ecstatic when Marléne from M.Micallef reached out to me to review this new release because I knew this fragrance would be a step out of my comfort zone from what I normally wear. RedColorado falls under the Woody, spicy, and leather category, which initially raised the concern if I would even like this fragrance. On my skin, RedColorado opens up with a fresh, spicy, and strong blast of Bergamot and Pine with a Woody base. This forest-like blend was a bit obnoxious and off-putting at first. I wasn't sure what direction this fragrance was going to take me. But as it dried down, the Pine note subsided and I could detect the Leather and hints of Patchouli, which transforms this fragrance into a much more alluring scent. RedColorado is a statement fragrance for that strikingly attractive, confident, and well dressed guy who loves commanding the attention of every room he steps in. As this fragrance dries down, the Vanilla is not really distinguishable by itself, but it blends well with the woods, which softly emerge as this fragrance sits closer to the skin. RedColorado exceeded my expectations in performance, giving me 7+ hours of wear with a pretty impressive sillage that left a noticeable scent bubble around me for about 5 hours. I brought this fragrance to work with in case I needed to reapply, but 5-6 sprays got me through my work day. Overall, this is a very pleasant fragrance. Is it something I would purchase on my own? Probably not. As I said before, this scent is not what I typically go for or wear. But I'm appreciative of being able to experience this fragrance and will enjoy it while it's in my collection. I must say..... this is damn good..... And masculine AF. Bought time we get back to a good masculine scent. Rugged. Dry. The smell of RED if it had a smell and leather green. On paper when I smelled it it had a strange bubble gummish opening to me, without the sweet of the bubble gum, but that bubblegum flare. When I put it on skin it was a little bit different. This one you MUST wear on your skin to get the full scent. This is strong and I can tell this is made for Fall and Winter. It's almost summer here in New York and I'm holding on to this vial for Fall and Winter. I don't know what Interlude smells like from Amouage, but I own Gntonic as well as Desir toxic L' intense. This may be the 3rd. Yes. This does smell a bit old school, but with today's flare of that Interlude magic in there somewhere. They took a little bit of the masculine old flare with today's nuances. And that my friends is a good concoction! Reviewer Scentjournindy ..... nailed this with her review and I will take a woman's word on this one! Reviewers...Hamraessence AND Vitriol08....I agree. This did not get a lot of hype and was overlooked when it came out and it still does . The reason I think? It's actually masculine . Today's scents are very unisex and blahhh... people aren't used to having this ruggedness. M.Micallef is on the rise! I'll be back in the fall to give the true ratings.

This is a very masculine fragrance....not sure why anyone would consider this unisex. This also smells mature. It's very green, and woody. The leather is also giving it a semi smoky vibe which I'm not really digging. I don't find it sexy smelling, but it's not bad....just not something I would get excited to smell if a guy was walking by. Also, as it dries down that smoky leather comes more forward, and the projection minimizes fairly quick. Because the opening is a little heavy I would consider this more of a colder weather / night vibe. If I were testing this in colder months I might have a different view of it, but during spring it just smells too dense. Plus it's giving me 70s man with an open shirt showing off his bushy chest... just a mature/nostalgic feel to it. Which is a vibe...just not my vibe.

Opens up with a blast of pine over the top of cedary woodsy notes, and laid over all of that if you put your nose in it is that same oregano note from Interlude Man even if it isn't listed here. The oregano quickly fades and it dries into a woody leather, the pine lingers a bit longer and the vanilla quickly becomes apparent, everything sitting atop a nice little sweet cushion. The opening is not for the faint of heart but when it's dried down it's a very crowd pleasing wood and leather scent sweetened up by a very present vanilla. Not at all like Interlude Man outside of that oregano opening and the fact that all of it's other notes sit on a vanilla base.

Do you know Clint Eastwood in "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" when he walks through the desert exhausted? Well, this fragrance reminded me exactly of this scene. Leathery notes, accompanied by green and woody ones give life to a hard, uncompromising accord with great personality. Virile, all in one piece: this is Red Colorado. I think on a man it would have a noticeable effect on women. Very high persistence and sillage. Clint Eastwood's mural in via Pietro Orseolo in Milan.

Basically Interlude man without the oregano. As I am not a fan of interlude man I'm not a fan of this fragrance either, although out of the two I prefer RC. It's not a bad profile but it's hard to picture a use case for this personally. What surprises me is that interlude man is rated so high and this is rated so low, it just goes to show that people base their opinions on popularity. That being said if you like IM you will like RC, it is truly a niche scent.

This is not your regular pine tree fragrance. It has so much more than just looking at notes here. Honestly it smells rather like the resin of the pine tree than the pine itself. Also mixed with honey and some smoke. I see some rose and vanilla elegantly peeking through, making this smoky woods more "civilised". VERY outstanding amongst other niche fragrances of this genre. Men will love it, but i think women will do too.

For me, it's very warm, I expected some fresh or balsamic fragrance but I was wrong... It's warm, spicy, very spicy... A couple of years ago I had Swiss Arabian Shaghaf Oud Abyad (sold It) and the resemblance is clear for me, at the beginning i thought at L' air du desert marocain, then I realized that it was Oud Abyad for me. Anyway, it's well crafted and wearable but only in fresh months

This is dry and smoky forest smell, and that’s pretty much all there is to it. A little boring by itself, but if you layer this with something like Le Male or Luna Rossa Sport, you get an amazing smelling modern smoky fougere, which is something I’ve been unable to find. Actually this would work very well with just about any other fragrance that you want to make smoky or woodsy.

A very green opening, aromatic and woody but you get the Vanilla right away too, and it just tones all these supposed to be bitter dark notes down in a smooth way. Can see why the bottle's red, there is sedductive purpose with this. Unique, potent but a humble scent, so the Pine and Fir in this are perfectly set, luv the Cypress, real glad I'm back on Micallefs.

It’s a decent fragrance, but challenging, and it’s very close to interlude from Amouage. If I had to pick one, I’d go with one of the interludes. If you can get this for a really good deal, maybe go with this one, But interlude has this licorice note That makes this Smokey piney smell pop. Still nice, would be really good if interlude didn’t exist.

this is too masculine for me. but for men???????? I'd fall head over heels if I smell this on a man.
