Ylang in Gold Nectar

Ylang in Gold Nectar is leaps and bounds better than the original. It starts as a tropical, yellow flower bomb, mellowed by a fruity sweetness until it gives way to a decadent coconut and vanilla base. The touches of oak moss and musk ground it. Nectar is smoother and more sophisticated than its sweeter, more youthful, and less floral sister. Projects like crazy and last forever on my skin, but that may have more to do with the ylang-ylang note which always gets amplified by my chemistry. This is a masterpiece, but I can only tolerate ylang-ylang in supporting roles. However, YIGN reaffirms my appreciation for the quality and love put into the perfumes from Maison Micallef.

I own both the original YLANG IN GOLD and this YLANG IN GOLD NECTAR. As a lover of everything sweet, it surprised me that I prefer the NECTAR over the original. The NECTAR has a toned down sweetness allowing the floral notes to shine brightly. Ylang and vanilla are the most prominent. I thought the coconut will be more evident but although it's detectable, it's not playing a lead role, just there to add creaminess. Not a single note screams, it's like each note has melded beautifully with each other. It may be tamer than the original but it does not lack the rich, delectable and hypnotic qualities that make this liquid gold desirable.

I adore this as much as I adore the OG Ylang in Gold! I would say they are quite similar but Nectar has more prominent flowers and sandalwood notes to me. It is absolutely divine scent, very feminine and gentle yet sensual and attracting. It reminds me of tropical paradise beach, sun kissed skin and some mouthwatering fruity dessert. It works well under heat and performance is great. Lasts 6 hours at least and projects within arm length. This is high quality unique perfume. 100% recommended

This is a very honeyed fragrance, I'm obsessed. It open strong, but then mellows out in sweetness and the ylang-ylang and coconut come through extra creamy. There are so many opening notes but honestly I don't pick up on any of them, it's very well blended. To my nose I get honey, which isn't a note but perhaps that's the sum of all the notes? it's perfect for Spring and I can't wait to wear it.

Beautiful scent that really goes well with my skin chemistry. Although marketed for women, I find it perfectly unisex. High quality, moderate longevity (about 6h) and good sillage. Love at first sniff, and the dry down is just amazing.

This is far better than the original Ylang in Gold. I got my hands on a sample of Ylang in Gold FIRST, and thought, "oh no, I should have ordered something different" (referring to having ordered a sample of the nectar version), thinking I'd wasted my money.. Nope! I actually very much enjoy the Nectar version! It's not like they're radically different or anything, but they're different enough for me to like one, but not the other. I am having a difficult time pinpointing the exact difference, but I will try my best (from my perspective, at least). I've got one on each arm at the moment. Nectar, to me, the Ylang Ylang is more noticeable. It really feels like the star... and it gives me that "nectar" vibe. HOWEVER, it's NOT overpowering... I find it to be extremely well-balanced! The name of this fragrance fits the scent profile absolutely perfectly! I'm not a coconut person, but this is coconut done right. It's not overpowering and doesn't sit in the driver's seat... this fragrance gives tropical, beachy vibes, without even the slightest inkling of being "sunscreeny". Personally, Ylang Ylang Nosy Be is my favorite ylang ylang forward scent and I think that's the full bottle I am going to go with. HOWEVER, that one is VERY VERY, straight to the point Ylang Ylang... if you want that powerful Ylang Ylang vibe but with a bit more diversity in the scent profile, Ylang in Gold Nectar is PERFECT!! OG Ylang in gold... I wouldn't say that I'd guess Ylang Ylang to literally be in the name of the fragrance, let's just say that. Nectar is excellently balanced, and stunning in every way. I love it so much that I'm considering getting a full bottle of Nectar alongside of my Nosy Be. It's that good! Noting that to me, it's definitely a feminine fragrance. But I say that as if I were the person wearing the perfume, as a bystander, I'd say I'd just be happy to smell ANYONE wearing something this delicious! If you enjoy ylang ylang, this is a safe blind buy. Even if you DON'T... I still feel pretty strongly that this perfume would be worth trying for you... if you want a beautiful beachy, tropical, in-love-in-paradise kind of vibe... and again, I don't like coconut, and this perfume is still stunning. It's not overpowering at all. Not sunscreeny. Absolutely a masterpiece! Final note - wow, yeah. Smelling Nectar VS. the OG after finishing the review... the OG is so boring!! I mean no offense to anyone, but wow. Yeah, I am a little confused about the hype surrounding the origianl Ylang in Gold... Nectar completely blows it out of the water!! Why aren't more people talking about it? A gem!!

In-your-face ylang-ylang type of fragrance. Most of all it smells like banana pudding. The ylang-ylang really has that fruity banana vibe, and with the vanilla becomes more like pudding or banana cupcakes, and not like the fresh fruit itself. I don’t get any coconut or sunscreen from this. And it’s nothing like Samsara or Tresor. Absolutely not. It reminds me of 100bon’s Mimosa&Heliotrope, although Ylang in Gold Nectar is more dense, ‘fat’ and fruity, almost gourmand, while 100bon is powdery and airy. But the banana vibe is kinda similar.

This is far more powdery than I was expecting and reads a little mature and stuffy. Not what I thought the notes would offer, since they look so tropical. There are so many heavy yellow florals in this, it’s hard to find the fruit at all.

I was wondering how people say this is similar to Casmir by chopard, and the notes look so modern! I think I get it now. Initial spray is a burst of a thick, oily, classic yellow floral. Cat piss and all. Pungent, strong and sweet! As it dries down, I get more rounded, fuzzy, woodier, still vintage but more timeless vibe. That classic vintage sweet women perfume but a bit airier, woodier, wearable! This is a mature smell. Don’t expect vanilla 28 type of vanilla. This is yellow florals. And I can’t personally imagine myself wearing it in summer. I think it will make me nauseous. Honestly it can even pass as a reformulation of givenchy amarige Mariage!

I prefer the OG Ylang in Gold version. The nectar version lacks the vanilla and creamy of the original version, unfortunately not replaced by any woody notes (at least I didn’t get any on my skin), definitely a little more powdery and weirdly enough seems less potent than the original. I am going to stick with Ylang in Gold original version.

I so wanted to like this but the opening is like bug spray and banana/vanilla/florals. I tried to wait for the dry down, and when the top notes wore off I just felt it was too sweet. Beautiful perfume juice though!

It is much better than the original becouse it is so well rounded and less edgy. The sillage and longevity is poorer but who cares-the scent is suberb!!!

This one smells like an animalic version of original Ylang in Gold. I like this one, but not as much.
