Lady Danger

This was a blind buy for me. I figured that if the perfume is a let down I’ll still have a bottle that looks like an homage to Rothko made by Lego. Such a bold bottle demands a statement scent and it certainly is that. The first spray is a mouth-watering juice explosion like chewing on a handful of sour haribos. Then an intoxicating cloud of black amber and heady patchouli descends, plunging you into the dark heart of a Whitby goth convention. A powderiness develops as the sharp cherry and citrus lose their spiky edges. Unlike pastel orris notes that conjure the demure dustings of a Regency ball, this is earthy and hay-like - the smell of fresh sweat not entirely masked by mingled cheap body sprays. The sour fruit hums above the perfume’s darker resinous heart, and there is a synthetic quality, like the smell of plastic or vinyl in the hot sun, and a touch of cigarette smoke drifts into the mix. I love it, although I can see why others might not. I’ve rarely had such a strong sense of being transported to a specific moment by a fragrance. This is the late 80s in Brighton, me and my friends drinking 20/20 while getting ready for a night out, the sizzling of boots hairspray as we crimped our hair, before back combing the bejesus out of it. Clad in black and leopard print we’d head off to an alternative club. Little did we know, goth was in its death throes, and the age of rave about to dawn.

As someone who is obsessed with patchouli and amber scents, I am head over heels in love with this fragrance. I have a sample of this that I’ve been using very sparingly for special occasions until I snag a full bottle — this is definitely full bottle worthy for me. I love tangerine and cherry as an opener, although it’s not overpowering, and when that tigerlily peeks out to play...just wow. It also smells like there’s some leather in there, although it isn’t listed, so I’m guessing that’s the saffron. Definitely a leather jacket kind of vibe with this one — it’s bold and daring and definitely not for everyone. This sexy perfume performs pretty well for its price point, and makes me feel like an absolute badass. I’m sad that they don’t make it anymore but it can be found on eBay for under $40 for 1.7 Oz/50 ml.

I didn't expect to love this one so much. It's intoxicating. Lady Danger is sexy, provocative, flirty, borderline dirty. But I really love it. I can't stop smelling my wrist when I spray this. It opens up with fruity notes mainly from the cherry, the tangerine is fleeting. Then, smokiness and soft patchouli engulf the initial sweetness, and the black amber gives the perfume a salty, animalic scent. I get leather jacket vibes out of it, even though there's no leather included in the notes. Longevity is moderate, but sillage is good. Lady Danger is a woman dressed in black leather, riding a motorcycle. Tough and assertive.

This is entirely unique! I hate the opening like wow. It is offputting. But slap me with a talking log I'm in LOVE with the mid at about 40 mins in. I don't think I've smelled a more enchanting combination of patchouli, saffron, and ambergris. This is daring. I'm enchanted by it though I don't know what to do with it. I'm feeling the deep need to cull my fragrances, but I just cannot tell what to do with this one. After the first 40 mins, I'm addicted to it... but it doesn't project too much or last too long (maybe 5 hrs).

There is a LOT of fruit at first. This is cherry and tangerine but powdery with a little hint of saffron and patchouli then salty ambergris. This is a salted fruit cocktail. I love it. Very much a fruitchouli but not as strong or intense or sweet at LPRN. A lady with an edge and a softness.

Cherry bomb! Nicer and sweeter sister to "My Heroine". Still sexy and mysterious but more sweet and calm. Beautiful opening-the scent doesn't change a lot. Mac creates really good fragrances.

I never thought I would enjoy this based on the notes, but I'm glad I blind bought this. It's very sexy and sultry. Sort of a sexy woody smoky cherry with patchouli.

MAC Lady Danger is bright and fruity upon spraying, but it turns a little darker very quickly. It becomes smoky and even a little burnt, but not in an offensive way to me. I seem to pick up leather, though it's not listed in the note pyramid. Cherry is the main player, but it is on the sour side, not syrupy or too sweet as some other cherry scents are. Looking at the notes, I expected Lady Danger to be a strong fragrance, but it turned out to be softer to my nose. It may be due to my conservative sprays, or a low performance on the part of the perfume. This is just as well in my country's typical heat, as I find the fragrance bordering on dirty in its mid-phase. (Patchouli? Black amber?) Not like being unwashed for days, but maybe skin at the end of a night out with traces of the evening's perfume left. There's something familiar about it, smells a little lived in, if that makes any sense. Like perfume left over from the night before. Not in a bad way, more like sexy memories, but nothing dangerous anymore. Like a one night stand, it doesn't last very long, but leaves a skin scent only detectable when pressing my nose to my skin. The dirty nuances are gone, and all that's left is mostly a soft, clean amber. I kinda like Lady Danger, though at times I'm not sure what to make of it. I don't think it's something I would reach for often. I only have a sample, which I would use until it's gone, and I think that would be enough for me. Not a safe blind buy, in my opinion, and I see how this might be unpleasant for others.

It's very woody, smokey, spicy and musky. It's dramatic and strong. If the opening is too much for you, wait for it. After it settles those initial strong notes smooth out and the cherry and floral develop. It has a clear masculine vibe, not just unisex. There's this sexy, bad girl leathery note to it that I find very attractive and addictive especially when I'm in that type of mood. It's the fragrance of leather clothing, dark red lipstick and motorcycles. It brings Modern Muse Le Rouge Gloss to my mind with its leather, vinyl and cherry notes but the rose there takes over. Here, the cherry and floral notes stay in the background. Not very long lasting, all but gone in a 3-4 hours. This is not a good blind buy and it won't be for everyone but if you can try it first, it could be the most unique scent you have in your collection. I think this is so polarizing you may be limited in where you want to wear it. I got a bottle for $10 at Winners.

this right here is the adult, campy version of a standard BBW fruit scent that can totally be seen as unisex; this is a grown up fruit fragrance that isn't sickly sugary sweet but still manages to throw in a ripe melon/cherry/sugar blend and have it be sexy without trying. I tried this on my hand and was pleased that it unfurled from sweet, to fruit with woods and nutty notes in the background from keeping it from being something you'd smell a high school girl wear (no offense to high school girls). It's sweet while staying slightly dangerous and can be seen to exist in the same unisex manor as say a CK Summer cologne is; that fresh and ripe fruit with sugar and woods that when a guy wears it smells musky sweet and hot on the skin. I may have to take this home sooner rather than later..

Salty skin, saffron, cherry chapstick, and the remnants of yesterday's amber perfume oil. I find that this one improves with aging, as the artificial cherry dies down and is replaced with the very skin-warmed ambergris note. An amber accord also comes out with aging. It's quite dry and smells a bit like incense resin. Definitely smells niche and expensive, and it's 100% unisex. I get zero florals out of this. I applaud MAC for taking risks with these shadescents, as the two I've tried are unique and not crowd-pleasers. I think Lady Danger is what Black Perfecto wants to be.

My partner described the scent as elegant. A blend without singular ingredients shining through. Only after reading the notes I can say that it is in equal parts with low volume a cherry-tangerine on an ambergris-saffron background. It reminds me of Play by Givenchy. A very good everyday scent, universal day-night and occasion wise. Pretty but gentle during winter I think will shine spring-autumn, and I am curious how it performs in summer. Very perfumy, feminine and subtle. Without much personality but pretty.

This is really cute! Sweet cherry and woods. It's not ground breaking but it was one of the better ones in this series. Edited to add: I went back today and tried both this and Velvet Teddy again as they were the only ones out of the bunch I liked. I have to say this one is probably my favorite. It's just simple and wearable. A nice unisex woods with cherry and the warmth of orchid. It's a upbeat sort of scent and appropriate for wear anytime.

Oh this is truly a beautiful, sophisticated and alluring perfume. Perfect for a date night. It's smoky with lots of cherries, flowers and a creamy saffron base. As other has mentioned it smells like the grown up sister of Guerlain's black perfecto. I was sceptical at first because of the patchouli but it's not too prominent and just adds a good base to the perfume. I love it!

I really like this. It smells very similar to ruby woo except more faint. I really wish this had more power because I enjoy its uniqueness

Lady Danger is a wonderful surprise, like other fragrances in the Shadescents line. It is something I would never purchase for the notes alone. But after sampling it, I find that I am enjoying it! I think the main player here is the cherry, which straddles the line between candy and the real thing. It's fortunate that it never veers into maraschino cherry territory. It's not very fake smelling, probably because the tangerine helps it along. This leads to a prominent fruit note mixed with a warm woodsy kind of scent. It's possible this is the dark amber interacting with the saffron, which adds heat. These elements and the patchouli prevent Lady Danger from getting too bright. But that doesn't mean it isn't dark and heavy. Like another reviewer said, Lady Danger is "upbeat". The patchouli itself never develops the weight it sometimes brings to some perfumes. The other flowers are present, and hang out in the middle. They remain stable components without overwhelming the other notes. The end result is a fresh, but mysterious, fragrance. I think this would be a very fun "going out" fragrance for dates, and hanging with friends for a night on the town. It's a little too fun for office wear, in my opinion, but would probably be okay for an unconventional work environment. After a few hours, the cherry turns sour and remains among soft amber. UPDATE: I wore this in warmer weather than my first wear test (which was early spring), and it changed a fair bit. It became much spicier and had a cozy holiday vibe. Puzzling, but not a flaw!

Amazed not to find a tobacco note in the scent pyramid! Ultimately this smells neither cheap nor expensive, but it does smell a bit like someone covered up a chain smoking session with sour cherry + axe body spray, but in the most cohesive way imaginable. A longwearing intense fruitchouli. Patch is the strongest note for me, but I do smell a tiny hint of saffron and white floral, and of course the sour fruits. I was really hoping to get the pepper note that some reviewers mention, but sadly did not detect one. I think that would have given this some edge. For me, there's not quite enough going on here. Overall, not my wheelhouse, but I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a punchy fruitchouli that departs from the rounder vanilla-driven scent profiles of Angel and it's flankers/copycats.

I tested Bendelirious and liked it quite a bit, so I was curious what Lady Danger smells like, since some people indicated that they smell similar. Lady Danger opens up with a bunch of oranges, and a bright red cloud of synthetic cherry. After the initial fruitiness quiets down, the ambery leather with a tinge of sweetness shows up. The middle phase of the perfume, I would say, is 70% close to what Bendelirious smells like, but less smooth, and definitely with less longevity. What I like about Lady Danger is the play on a sexy oriental by the addition of fruits. It makes it more of a daytime appropriate sexy perfume. Like a red dress at knee length, definitely wear it on a date, but you can also arguably wear it to the office, if you tone it down.

Smells like a spicy cherry cough syrup - which someone out there might like! But not me.

It certainly has it's own character - it is bold and smells "red". It reminds me of something dark, edgy and I would say it is intended for a woman with a fiery temperament, who does not compromise nor becomes one with the crowd. Ideal for night hours - unless it is a trademark of whoever wears it (it can probably be worn by some men as well) On my skin it's mainly saffron with some drops of cherry juice (the cherry smells like a cherry-flavored throat pastille) I recognize its uniqueness. In my opinion, however, it has an awful smell Star Sign: Scorpio

I'm exploring the Shadescents this winter. Lady Danger is my 5th and final purchase and the only one that's proven disappointing only because she fades away faster than a body spray. The fragrance itself is on the nicely dark side of pretty. Fruity but not sugary sweet. Despite the number of listed notes my nose perceives just tangerine, cherry and patchouli. Think of it this way: you wake up and dab a bit of patchouli oil on your wrists, peel a tangerine and open a jar of maraschino cherries. You smile at the lovely fresh juiciness of the combined scents as you eat the tangerine. In the short time it takes to put the jar of cherries back in the fridge and toss away the tangerine peel you find yourself left with just a dusty remnant of patchouli on your wrists that patchouli lovers will find rather ordinary. The dusty smell lasts about 45 minutes and then, poof, it too is gone. Nothing dangerous about this lady unless I think of her as a pickpocket I carelessly let grab about $22.00 USD from my wallet.

This perfume starts with strong, really strong woody notes. There is even some oud. A hint of sweet cherry gets through these woods, looks like this Cherry Orchard is being cut down already. Then the scent goes sweet and turns to a vigorous floral-fruity and still slightly woody fragrance. Quite a long silage. After 5-6 hours of wearing the perfume smells like a cherry-flavoured candy, although still nothing childish. Not really for a femme fatale type as I thought first basing on the perfume’s name but fits a romantic date occasion pretty well.

The beginning is very strong, intense, with a presence of smoked that amazes you because it is a note not present in the description of the olfactory pyramid. This disoriented me a little and reminded me a lot of the beginning of another perfume from the Maison that I own: My Heroine. But the note of black cherry comes impetuous and here is the girly flick of the fragrance. It doesn't last long, the base notes stabilize. The patchouli remains on the skin, with the mix of the other remote but perceptible notes. A particular fragrance!

With this one..I get the references to Le Petit Robe Noire for sure. They are "family". To my nose, the cherry/lily/ambrox blend "cloys" on me....during the development. The drydown is when everything "settles" and this then becomes much better.This is one you have to be patient with,IMO.I will add,that Petit Robe Noire does not have as much "synthetic" roughness like this does. I have to say this is a confused...pass...for me. It has enough for me to try to like it more...but..I think the cherry/lily notes combined are not for me.

Buttery leather with stale cigarette smoke, cherry scented lipstick and some other woman’s perfume. Really loud and not pretty at all. The butter note nauseates. Really hated it and had to scrub it. I thought this would be more my kind of thing, a story telling type of atmosphere, but the buttery note was horrific on my skin. Just a bad combination all around. One of the few scents (and I've tried 100s and 100s by now) that made me feel a bit queasy.

I wrote the perception notes before I read any reviews or even looked at the scent description... “Honeyed Amber” No cherry or orange to found to my nose. It goes powdery on my skin chemistry, but stays sweet on my cotton sleeve. The patch behaves itself, leaving the black amber to dominate. Would not repurchase but am enjoying this fragrance at it's final phase.

Someone here described it correctly: stale cigarette smoke and cherry lipstick. It turns into a woody, smoky combination, reminds me of a new leather bag. Not a shop, I mean, a literal bag LOL. I see why people describe it as sexy and exotic, but I think it tries too hard to be that... and fails.

Nice bright scent. Seems like it could be a versatile scent that could be unisex with a slight lean toward fem but not so fem a guy couldn't wear it as a aquatic "type". Out of Velvet Tedfy, Heroine, and Creme this leans more towards fem again it still could be unisex.

Whoever said positive things about this perfume is a liar and they got paid it is nasty it's stinks there's nothing good about it if you put bleach on your skin it smells better than this Mac should be shamed of their self

I wish I got what everyone else is getting with this. My drydown smells like Whispers in the Library from the replica line...not bad but not what I was expecting. Oh well, glad i don't need to hunt a bottle of this down.

Came upon this difficult to find, distinctive gem at The Cosmetics Store. This is a marvelous oriental fragrance, but the key is to apply in small doses. Cherry is dominant, but in a more rich, luxurious configuration.

oh yes my favorite shade and one of the best very wearable but still unique so nice like a bulldog puppy hold me i need some studs to make this perfect

smelled this at MAC the other day, godawful SOUR, I hated this.

Whoever said it smells like la petite robe noir Should be sued
