MAC Hue: MV2

This was my favorite perfume (my signature). I was, as another reviewer noted, devastated. I bought up all I could get on Ebay (at inflated prices). I even tried to match the scent through a website (big mistake, paid $50 and didn't smell at all like MV2). I hope MAC brings back, even if for a limited time.

Mmmh my fave perfume right now!!I'm at the 3rd bottle...but I read somewhere on the internet it's been discontinued!!!:( does anyone know? please tell me it's not true!!

So impressive!!! Like an incandescent glowing metallic vanilla flower on skin... I wear it under black winter clothes.

This is a very warm vanilla sense. I am so sad it was discontinued. I hope MAC bring it bag.

Wow I am surprised to see the notes! I tried it on today and it smelled like a caramelly dessert, like creme brulee - absolutely delicious and very gourmand! Definetely don't smell any lavender in it - I get caramel and vanilla. Very warm and comforting. I like this one.

Amazing scent! Too close to vanilla scent itself! I also loved MV1 and MV3. I had the MV1, which is not in the Fragrantica database. Why were these discontinued, anyway? I hope they bring them back! They would be best sellers!

I was so, so excited to finally find a bottle on eBay. It arrived from the Ukraine, and was so expensive that I had to pick it up from the post office. I tore the box open in the USPS parking lot and sprayed it on my wrist, overjoyed. It was not at all what I expected. I had to scrub it off. I figured it was a warm day, so I'd better wait a few months for cooler weather. I sprayed it on a sweater and left it in a drawer. I sprayed it on paper and let it air out. For me, it was only tolerable hours later. Heliotrope and lavender are NOT my friends. I sold that bottle, defeated. Months later, I came upon a MAC MV1, MV2, and MV3 bundle on eBay. I'd never smelled MV1 and loved MV3, so I decided to splurge and acquire the trio. I thought maybe, just maybe, MV2 would be better this time around. My nose was a year or so older, my tastes a little more mature. It was a different bottle. But still - it smelled awful on me and to me. I stand defeated by MV2. I wanted to love it, but I couldn't.

This one has the same milky quality to it that Prada has, but stronger. I don't get the vanilla creme brulee, probably because I'm so distracted by the milky part. Not a pleasant experience for me I'm afraid. After trying to be patient to see if it would evolve, I finally couldn't take it anymore and did the old wash off maneuver. But if your a fan of the milky quality in Prada, and a fan of gourmands, it's probably worth checking out.

I am quite confused about the listed notes and the release date at the top for this. Were there TWO versions of MV2??? I most definitely bought my MV2 a handful of years PRIOR to the stated 2010 release on this page. I know that for certain, because MV2 is what I was wearing on my first date (with a now ex-boyfriend) in 2005. And believe it or not, I still have that same bottle and am guarding the last 1⁄4 of it that is left. It is only for special late Fall/Winter NIGHTTIME occasions. This is way too HEAVY for Spring or Summertime!! The MV2 version that I have is LUST in a bottle....it’s a heavenly boozy milky vanilla pipe tobacco’ish concoction that is absent of any lemon or lavender (at least to my schnozz). This stuff IS POTENT! It ticks ALL the boxes... If you wanna be a wallflower and not be noticed, stay away from this juice. EDIT: just took a look at the bottom of my bottle. Indeed, it is NOT the MV2 Hue version, it is the MV2 Creations version that was released in 2002.

YUCK ! I was at my local thrift store this week and saw a bottle of this , for under $20.00 . I kinda did a "blind buy" as I am familiar with MAC perfumes and find them pretty dependable . Getting out to my car , I took some baby wipes and had to clean the cap and bottle- it was a mess of grime and fingerprints ! (I do not get grossed out easily- this bottle was covered in filth!) To tell the truth - that should have been a warning sign unto itself ! The first spray of this misfortune was not terrible -- but when I sniffed the DRY DOWN - I swear - I got a faint hint of mustard on rye bread (WTF?). My car vent was pushing air over my sprayed wrist - and that did not smell too bad from a distance -- but when I did the double-take sniff on my wrist close up , it almost made me sick to my stomach. What a waste of Money! You were warned. I PRAY this has been discontinued !

PSA: For everyone devastated by this incredible scent being discontinued, I bring you a new hope! I can't even believe I found a dupe this good, I could cry! Just got a sample of Vanilla Woods by The 7 Virtues, in my Sephora order. Go and smell it, and tell everyone! The notes are Madagascar Vanilla, rose, pear, and caramel. I know MV2 has lemon and heliotrope but it's uncanny how this still matches. Also, Vanilla Woods is Vegan and Cruelty Free!

This was a delicious lemon lavender vanilla, and just sweet enough without being a tooth ache kind of perfume. I remember it was long lasting. The problem with brands bringing back old favorites is the IFRA has changed the rules. They almost never allow the original formula to be made because it's not deemed safe in many cases. It's a bunch of bs, but this is the way the fragrance industry has changed for the worse.

Everyone who loves this fragrance...I am begging you to email MAC and suggest (beg, scream, plea...) that they bring it back. MAC is a company that is notorious for discontinuing best sellers and (if they hear from enough of us) sometimes they will bring it back. I have been emailing them and listing the many, many, many reasons they should bring it back. If we pull together maybe we have a chance!

I had the original and enjoyed wearing it because of the lavender and vanilla notes. I had stop wearing it about a year ago MV2 original(vintage) since it became very synthetic smelling on me and over powering. I hope they kept the basis of the original and lighten it up. I am looking forward to revisiting MAC MV2 as MV2 Hue.

God, I miss MV2!!! Has been years... so today I was sampling Chabaud's new Lait de Biscuit. Guess what? The dry down (after the buttery pastry fades away) smells just like MV2 in it's creamy vanillary custardy way! Not as perfect as MV2, but def close! At least on my skin. In my hair, not as similar. grrrr....

Van Cleef & Arpels Midnight in Paris is a very (very) close scent match for MV2. I was devestated when MAC discontinued MV2 and after a very thorough search and testing about 50 fragrances I have found Midnight in Paris to be the closest scent match by far! Hopefully this will make some people very happy!

Does anyone know where I can purchase MAC MV3? The fragrances were discontinued, ebay has a couple that are supposedly "new", but they're charging $78 for a $40 bottle. I've tried all the "Discontinued" online stores - no luck. Please let me know if you have any info, thank you.

I was so sad when this perfume was discontinued. I have just purchased Aquolina Gold Sugar, and the drydown scent is very very close to MV2. I would definitely try it if you loved MV2.

I was hooked from the first smell. Pure vanilla and sugar, love this to death. I wear it in the summer and it brings back memories!
