Sun Soaked

My Maher Olfactive discovery set arrived yesterday, and without looking at the notes I sprayed Sun Soaked. Bitter citrus and aldehydes are what I thought I was smelling, with something sweet in the opening. After a few minutes this is one dimensional, which has never been a deal breaker for me. But to my disappointment, I did develop nasal fatigue within the first 30 minutes. And I hate to be the first to describe a niche perfume with the dreaded laundry association, but that is all I am smelling; laundry. And it’s extremely powerful. For my nose this blend is overpowering. I do think Sun Soaked smells better from a distance— like several feet away—and I do think this would make a great detergent smell. I don’t pick up any of the other notes, Sun Soaked is a mix of bitter orange, neroli, aldehydes and something sticky sweet.

I mostly get a burning accord -- not smoke, per se, but the actual smell of something (anything) burning. The citruses do well to temper this burning element, but I feel, personally, the notes are just too stark for this scent to work. I just feel the pleasant citrus-fruitiness is completely detached from the dark-burning elements, sorta like one of those 'model nations of multiculturalism' which actually have 2 or 3 nationalities/ethnicities living in isolation from each other. Yeah, the country is diverse, but there is little to no assimilation going on here...

You might expect orange and neroli, but it comes out as car-shop grease. Quite a nice leather scent with elements of grease and gasoline. How did this happen?
