Make Me Fever Blue

Make Me Fever Blue is Mahogany's new bet for 2019. It follows the Make Me Fever pillar, which began in 2012 (including the male version) and won variations in 2013 (Make Me Fever Gold) and in 2017 (Make Me Fever Rose). The new Make Me Fever Blue brings the concept of spontaneity, which overflows through the free woman, the one who chooses her own ways and collects moments. The fragrance has notes of bergamot and mandarin, in the output; Ginger, jasmine, orange blossom, tuberose, and magnolia, in the heart; Sandalwood, amber, vanilla and patchouli in the base. The key word here is lightness! The Make Me Fever Blue fragrance is classified as floral-spicy and has a pretty explosive floral start. On my skin, however, the spicy facet only appears at the end, when the evolution has reached its apex, the power of diffusion has already slowed down and no more surprise will occur. At this stage, it looks like it has pepper or a bit of nutmeg in the composition. But until then, Make Me Fever Blue behaves more like a floral-fresh, with a citrus opening and some lactonic nuances, which turn into a slightly dated, yet exquisite floral. The biggest selling obstacle for Mahogany's new feminine perfume is, perhaps, this last point. Make Me Fever Blue has this aura of slightly powdery florals and may bother the younger crowd, though I particularly do not see women under 30 as the target audience of this creation. On the other hand, as in most fragrances, the best is to test on the skin and wait for evolution, as surprises may occur. And they do! The tuberose is not dominant but is present all the time. The jasmine collides with the orange blossom and explodes in powdery, fruity and delicate facets, but not soft at all. The vanilla and the amber are not too sweet, but they confer creaminess. And the patchouli lends a little weight and merges with the sandalwood, creating a subtle woody tone. Before concluding this analysis, I would like to leave a very particular opinion. Every time I wore this perfume, during the testing phase, I remembered another creation of Mahogany, which is called Índia Misteriosa. Immediately, my brain connected me with this fragrance, which also carries notes of mandarin, bergamot, tuberose, jasmine, sandalwood, and patchouli and probably the raw materials come from the same suppliers. Of course, this does not mean much, as there are numerous fragrances on the market with identical notes and completely different results. But in this case, several nuances have proved very similar to me. That is, if you know Índia Misteriosa and would like to feel a more usable and easy to please version that could be easily called Índia Misteriosa Fraîcheur (or Blue), then you have great chances of falling in love with this release. To finish, the bottle kept the visual identity and won a blue painting with a matte finish. The fragrance draws attention, exudes well and lasts for around seven hours on my skin. It is pleasant, not as powdery as it may seem, it has a certain versatility (especially for older women who are afraid of risking new fragrances and losing their signature) and still carries an air of refinement, typical of the floral of the ’90s. I really liked it!
