Afro Leather

Blind buy for me. I paid about €19 plus a bit of shipping, and for that price this is honestly very good. This is clearly built as a dupe of Memo Paris African Leather. I haven’t smelled the original yet, so I can’t compare 1:1, but based on the note list and how this behaves, I’d say it’s very much in that style. Even judged on its own, it smells great. On my skin, the opening is a strong hit of cardamom and geranium with some leather behind it. It’s warm, spicy, a bit sharp for the first 10–15 minutes. If you don’t like spices, you will probably hate the opening. The leather is there, but it never turns into a full-on animalic or harsh leather scent. After about an hour, it becomes much smoother. The scent turns into a dark amber with patchouli, woods, a bit of oud and musk. The spices calm down but stay present. This is the phase where it smells the best: warm, slightly sweet, spicy, and “close” without being weak. The leather is more of a background nuance at this point. Performance: I sprayed it around 16:24 before work and at 22:37 I could still clearly smell it on my skin, mainly the amber and a soft leather shadow. So roughly 6–8 hours on my skin. Sillage is strong but not nuclear. People around me noticed it, and if I stay in a room for a while, the scent hangs in the air even after I leave. When I walk, it leaves a trail. I usually do 3–4 sprays and that’s enough. This is not a fresh daily scent. Best for: autumn/winter, evenings or late nights. Not for: high heat, office, school, or people who only like blue/fresh fragrances. It’s marketed as unisex, but to me it leans clearly masculine. A female friend smelled it on me and said it’s not what she expects on a 19-year-old, but that it smells more mature and like I actually care how I smell. That’s exactly how this comes across: serious, a bit grown, not “body spray” energy. I can also see this working well layered with a vanilla if you want to make it a bit sweeter and smoother, but on its own it already feels complete. As always, this is just my experience. Performance will depend on your skin, how much you spray, and whether you moisturise first. Quick stats (for people deciding to blind buy): Scent: 8/10 – Dark spicy amber with cardamom, geranium and a touch of leather. Longevity: 8/10 – 6–8 hours on my skin. Sillage: 7.5/10 – Noticeable, can fill a small room over time. Uniqueness: 7/10 – You can tell it’s “inspired by” something, but it holds its own. Value: 9.5/10 – For ~€20, it’s hard to complain. Overall: 8.2/10 – Strong, masculine cold-weather scent that smells more expensive than it is. Afro Leather opens with a powerful and intense burst of cardamom, layered with a smooth leather accord. There is a mentholated, woody, earthy note accompanied by incense elements. There is also a subtle floral presence, which rounds out the opening and softens the intensity without losing any of its intrigue, creating an exotic, mysterious introduction. The overall effect is reminiscent of popular tobacco-infused perfumes, yet intriguingly absent of any tobacco itself. As it dries down on the skin, the fragrance shifts toward a more sour-citrus character, likely due to the saffron and cumin. The vetiver adds a green element that complements the spicy and sour tones, further enriching the overall scent profile. It maintains a classy sweetness with a distinct edge. It's the kind of scent that challenges the nose — not in an off-putting way, but in a 'lean in closer to figure it out' kind of way. Then, patchouli takes the stage, but this isn't the patchouli of incense sticks or overdone flower-child clichés. It has grown up and matured. Oud and musk work quietly in the background. What's fascinating about this fragrance is its evolution. It starts off bold and spicy, but as it dries down, it becomes more restrained, almost reserved. Though it stays close to the skin, the longevity is decent. It's more suited for older men, especially those familiar with unconventional fragrances, as it's far from standard and doesn't resemble anything else. It can be worn casually year-round, but more so on colder days. It’s definitely not a fragrance for temperatures over 30°C. Regarding the bottle, if you know what it's a clone of, it may seem like a cheap knockoff from a Chinese store, though it still looks kinda attractive — just a bit less so than the original. This impression aligns with other clones from this series. One of the most fascinating aspects of this fragrance is its unusual structure. It could be described as a reverse summer scent: opening with a spicy leather note before transforming into something more sour and citrusy. A very unique combination — a scent that refuses to be easily categorized. Okay....wow. So "Afro Leather" just arrived via Amazon. This...has SUCH a better "Leather" note to it than the "Phillip Plein - No Limit$" I just picked up last week!! The Cardamom is HEAVILY present in "Afro Leather" and for me, it was the first thing I smelled when spraying the test strip. About 2 minutes after spraying and getting the Cardamom blast...the LEATHER comes in like a hurricane! On the strip, it sits at a Cardamom-Leather cloud for the first 45 minutes and then starts to settle down. Then the Saffron and Patchouli start to make their presence known strongly and you get a spicy-bright punch of power. I'm guessing the Carnation is what gives it that rough floral edge in the fragrance...this is wild! Man, this is nice!! Praise the Lord...NO CUMIN FOUND!!! WOOHOO!!! I know the sillage trail on this is going to be IN-SANE!! I haven't made it to the drydown yet, but I'm seriously wondering if I can put some of this on over the "Prada Luna Ross Ocean" that I'm already wearing today and not get a fragrance-monstrosity...lol I REALLY want to find out what this does on skin before the day is out!!! The heck with it...if I have to shower...so be it. I'm going on skin!!! (after spraying one shot on each inner forearm) Okay...this is a LOT brighter on skin and almost has a citrus kick to it!! It fits PERFECTLY with the "P-LRO" because of the bright tone of the frags. The Leather note becomes almost a powdery New-Buck Suede on skin, whereas on paper it stays smelling like saddle leather. I almost feel like the Cardamom blends with the Patchouli, Vetiver and Carnation on the skin to become a citrusy accord. Then imagine the brightest but softest New-Buck leather you've ever smelled...that is the Suede Leather in this fragrance... Amazing. Absolutely stunning. This is like...the freshest and most powerful "Leather" fragrance I've ever smelled that has no darkness, no rubberiness, no metallic edge, no yuck-note...just awesome! This is DEFINITELY a keeper so far. I have high hopes for the drydown! UPDATE: Drydown is "Armani Code Profumo"!!!! I bought "Sapil - Bound" to get the same fragrance and "Bound" comes close. The drydown of "Afro Leather" nails the "Code Profumo" drydown PERFECTLY!! Got a compliment and request for a bottle of this from one of the tellers today while at the bank.

Disclaimer: This fragrance absolutely needs to mature. I don’t know the original Memo Paris African Leather. I deliberately gave Afro Leather a few weeks to macerate. At first, I wasn’t that impressed, because the cumin and cardamom came across as sweet and medicinal — it didn’t blow me away, though I didn’t dislike it either. Still, I knew it needed time to reveal its true potential. Yesterday evening I wore it after weeks of maceration, and within minutes several people told me I smelled great and asked what I was wearing. Afro Leather is a spicy scent that, thanks to the cardamom and cumin, smells like a sweet cough spray. As it matures, that cough-spray sweetness becomes stronger, and the fragrance feels smoother, rounder, and more balanced. What I like about it is its sophistication: it doesn’t rely on fruity sweetness or gourmand notes — it gets its charm and elegance purely from the warm spices. Unfortunately, you get little to no leather. I’ve heard Memo Paris African Leather also has rather subtle leather. That makes it even more of a shame that Lattafa / Maison Alhambra removed or minimized the leather to make it more mainstream and less niche. With a stronger leather note, this would be a brutally masculine sweet-spice-leather scent for little money. I can recommend Afro Leather as an elegant fall and winter fragrance for anyone who enjoys sweet, spicy scents with a slightly medicinal, cough-syrup vibe. Thanks to that spicy sweetness, the sillage is excellent and the longevity is pretty ok. Just let it macerate enough. For under 20,-€, it is a STEAL.

I have two things to tell you about AFRO LEATHER... First and foremost - Afro Leather is an AWESOME VALUE! This was a blind buy for me. I bought it for myself as a stocking stuffer at Xmas time and BOOM! I LOVED IT! It smells FRESH, GREEN, CITRUSY and WOODY, but WAIT...I also get a slightly medicinal/herbal smell...but I assure you - that is not a bad thing - this is a great fragrance - its worth every penny. Especially after I tell you this... Secondly, so I am traveling with my family in Paris (my son is studying abroad), so we stop at this mall and my family darts to the fragrances. I see this bottle of African Leather by Memo Paris and I tell my kids: "I wonder how close my cheapie Afro Leather compares to this." So I sprayed my left arm with African leather and after a short while we headed back to the hotel. I remembered that I had a small travel bottle that I filled up of Afro Leather - perfect! Time to put it to the test. So I sprayed Afro Leather on my right arm. My family and I smelled the opening and then the dry down and even though African Leather had been sprayed about an hour before - we couldn't tell a difference. It appears to be NEARLY IDENTICAL. With one exception: Memo Paris sells African Leather for over $300 and Afro Leather was $16...Yup you do the math and enjoy buying MORE fragrances with the money you save! ENJOY THIS AWESOME CLONE! AFRO LEATHER ROCKS!

#757 in my "Tour de Fragrance" I'm comparing this to my spayette sample of Memo Paris "African Leather". The above notes are missing saffron and it's definitely in this scent and listed in the notes on retail sites, so the notes in this scent and the Memo Paris scent are in fact identical and I really can't discern any difference whatever. Both are very mild leather scents and I'd say dead center unisex. But I ran this, Tuscan Leather, La Yuqawam and Ana Abiyedh Leather past three 20-something female friends and all three liked this a lot but preferred the fruitier alternatives. For myself, I have a couple of dozen leather scents from Tom Ford, Alhambra, Bvlgari, Armani, Rasasi etc etc. I like this and the less fruity Bvlgari Man in Black, though I really preferred the discontinued flankers of Man in Black to many of the above. But this is a great scent that performs well and is good for any venue, and you can't beat the price.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL fragrance. Great performance, and (imo) one of THEE BEST Lattafa/Maison Alhambra fragrances along side Khamrah Qawha, Jean Lowe Immortel and Mohra. This fragrance actually has very noticable transitions (especially for being a clone) and goes from yummy heavier spiciness to a VERY fresh aromatic lighter-woody spiciness. Stays very present on clothes even till the next day and lasts atleast 8 hours on skin. Now, although I have yet to smell the OG Memo's African Leather, I must say, if its actually better that this fragrance, its worth every bit of the $200 to $300 pricetag. This fragrance is super unique, pleasant and basically a 9 outta 10 fragrance clone or not. I own over 100 fragrances and I have NOTHING else that smells quite like Afro Leather does! it really does smells FANTASTIC, especially after macerating for a couple months. Afro is a beatiful and smooth cardamom, and woody scent based on smooth leather. Beautiful blend with moderate projection. Lasts 4 to 6 hours depending on your environment and activity. Great for cool weather, mature, suave and a little playful. One of the best from the brand. Maison Alhambra, as indicated by the reviews below, can sometimes disappoint. There are some like Leyden which are so weak they disappear within the hour and have an airiness that speaks to low concentration of oils / aroma chemicals. There are others that perform well but are a bit roughly blended and harsh though still smelling good, like Kismet. These are worth their low price. Then there is Hercules, Immortel, and Afro. Ji think these are the best three.

If you’re looking for a refined alternative to Memo Paris African Leather, this is a fantastic option. After four months of maceration, the fragrance has truly come into its own: smooth, sophisticated, and noble. I tried African leather in the store and it was a magnificent perfume. I fell in love immediately. Since it was too expensive (and I'm broke now) I decided to find a dupe and after some YT research, Afro seemed to be the best option. So I bought one on TikTok for £15. When I sprayed it for the first time, all I could smell was rotten lemon, literally! Reminded me of CDNIM EDT. It's one of the worst smells I've ever experienced in a perfume. I thought maybe it will go away after a while but it didn't. It is nothing like the OG, idk why people say it's a dupe. This is totally different and in the worst possible way. I'm gonna let it sit for a couple of months. Hopefully it will get better.

When I reviewed African Leather, I said this is what you wear when your mistress is coming over. Well Afro leather is what you wear when your second and third mistresses come over. I like this more than the OG. Comparing this to African Leather, the only I difference I can find is in the opening. As you would expect, Afro leather isn't as smooth, and has a bit of sting. But once that settles down after a few minutes, you have what I think is more wearable than African Leather. Subtle leather, which I prefer and less of the menthol note the OG carries. I guess it's the geranium? I'm very impressed with this one.

Wow! Ive never smelled Memo's African Leather, but This Afro Leather? This stuff really smells.AMAZING! The leather note doesn't take center stage imo, it's the fresh, spicey, semi-sweet powdery-ness that's very much rockin' my boat! The "tanned-leather" seems to be just sorta taking a back seat, and "grounding" this fragrance, keeping it from just being a "Spicey Frag". Great performance and decent projection. This is a LOVE for me! And call me CRAZY, but does this opening remind anyone else of Lalique's Equus' opening? Thanks to whomever took the time!😉

The perfume is more masculine than its "original". A very pleasant smell for a person who does not have much experience in perfumery, but my friends who have a better sense of smell said that they did not like it. Also, it opens up very differently on different skin types, so it is advisable to check if you like African skin and want a cheaper option. The bottle is certainly not as cool as Memo's, but what do you want for this money? In general, a good perfume for autumn-early winter for your money, I recommend it.

I had a decant of Memo paris African Leather and I love that fragrance. Its just me, but I can't spend £120 for 75ml, I do love too over spray, so I know I would done it out quickly. Afro Leather is just excellent, when I smelt it. I was reminded straight away of African Leather. I will never forget Memo Paris, and Afro leather is a excellent replacement. Too many people on this website love to bullshit and give fake reviews. This smells just like African Leather and I love it.

i dont get why people hate on this? its very unique, it doesnt smell like every other hyped up bs winter scent. The notes on this are actually performing good, probably the second or the best leather scent you can get (i mean leather in general the og). Its leathery but not too much like ombre leather, and its sweet but not too sweet also hahaha. its a good performer, longevity is good, strong sillage and good projection. overall for me 9/10

The release date of this awesome fragrance isn't 2024 since for example my bottle is from August 2023( I couldn't find the exact release date after some admittedly light search). It's truly a beast in longevity and projection, over 12 hours on my skin, it has a niche extra spicy smell that is delightful for me but might not be so enticing for others who are new to the game.

This isn't one of my favorite fragrances by no means. This is a very hard fragrances for me to wear, it starts off with this hint of musky out washed up singer on his last attempt to be make it, then the mid is his tears after realizing he's done, and the dry down is him putting on a dusty leather jacket and walking away. Best way for me to sum this up

New review from my 1st one. I was so wrong about this fragrance, once this fragrance has matured it's such a marvelous leathery creamy aroma that geranium is popping! This fragrance will cut through the coldest days you can through at it, without losing any effectiveness.

An absolute compliment getter. This is a perfume that most people will love. It is strong tho and dont use it in extreme heat. Is usable in summer and spring but in my opinion only at night time. Mostly use this fragrence for special occasions.

This is a great fragrance, I sprayed it and immediately knew it smelled like something familiar. It smells about 90% like Etat Libre D'Orange Fat Electrician. I have never smelled African Leather, but now I wonder if it also smells that way.

Just got this one, honestly it's one of the more challenging scents in my collection. Lots of cumin off the top but dries down and smells pretty good. Definitely not blind buy worthy. The more I wear it the more I like it. 7/10 from me.

There is no difference between this & African Leather by Memo Paris Afro leather is my go to bottle and i now use my African Leather as my back up...ladies really enjoy this one👌 Scent - 9/10👌🏼✨️

Cardamom, Cardamom, Cardamom SEXY Cardamom BEAST 12+ hours and the sillage is incredible. This is a great date night fragrance that performs.

For 15 euros you can not beat it. Lasts at least 4-5 hours, smells perfect.

Revisiting this after a long ish journey of perfume discovery. African leather by Memo was the first "perfume" I went into the store and tried, in part because of a friend of mine who had gotten interested in fragrance a couple months earlier. It was so strange to me. After a long while of just smelling generic freshies on men and generic sweet stuff on women, it opened my mind to a grand world of scent. Today, I still very much enjoy it, and it's super nostalgic, but of course my taste has developed and it's no longer my definitive favorite. Onto Afro leather. The first perfume I really owned, kinda. I had some samples before, but I never got into a rhythm of applying them on every day, or thinking about what they smelled like. This was what broke me away. I wore this nearly every day for months. In the beginning it was super accurate, but it had it's own twinge (As it still does). What I now realize is that I really didn't notice at all the plasticky opening, which is sadly an element of this fragrance. Don't be scared off though! This is great stuff for the price. As with the original, off the bat we have to take leather out of the possible equation, even though it's in the notes and the very name of the perfume. Unlike the original, this is a lot less cardamom heavy, although still containing it in a noticeable quantity. Afro Leather focuses much much more on cumin and saffron, this I quite like. It's uniquely rough (mostly from the spiciness, but you do get a little rubbery smell, whether that's intended or not, I have no idea.) As it dries, this all tames quite nicely, and becomes fresher, while introducing an oud accord that will become the main player in the dry down, as it becomes a skin scent. The accord is meh, it's definitely not the best oud you've ever smelled, it's a little rubbery, as the cheaper ones are, but it's pleasant, at least to me. It adds to the overall uniqueness of this scent. You're probably asking after looking at the notes: what about the geranium? Well, to me, it's much more noticeable smelling off the cap. On my skin, I do get whiffs of it throughout the smell, but it's very quiet. Lasts a good while, projects like crazy in the beginning, but dies down to a respectable sillage after maybe an hour.

I'm a vigilant fan of the Memo original and so I bought this dupe to save a little money. At the moment I smell the dupe on my left wrist and the original on my right. I sprayed one solid spray on each. Out of the gate the dupe seemed very different on my skin and I was at first disappointed. It was almost plastic-smelling, or play-dough like when its first landed. Then things evened out, and now I like it. It's close to the original, with slightly less power, less powder, less cardamom. Not quite as sweet, it has a darker ceremonial vibe, like the smell of myrrh, copal, and frankincense mixed with something mystical. I still prefer the original with the addictive, exotic world it creates for me, but I will say that I am impressed and hope that later when things fade, I am still enjoying "Afro Leather'. All that said- both have a quality that reminds me of walking through a lumber store- the smell of wood, plastic, and resin all mixed together. Some other reviewer mentioned pencil shavings. Accurate. Another mentioned shredded wood at a pet store. Sort of accurate. If you like the nostalgia of those things, with maybe a bit of a witchy note- go for it!

There is so much I agree with the comment below and SO much I disagree with. First, what I agree with: There is an amazing green olive accord. It is not listed but, if you love green olives, you know it is there. And it's addictive! Second, there is a sour spiciness but it is beautiful. So much depth and incaptivating warmth that the sourness adds body. If it didn't have 'sourness' then it would be flat. Here I start to disagree. Third(ly), the opening can be off-putting. There are so many fragrances that, if you judged them by their first blast, you would throw them in the garbage. This is not one of them. I got the first spray and I thought 'how and where am I gonna wear this?' After 10 minutes, I thought, why have I not bought this sooner? It is amazing! If you are put off by ad-hoc reviews and people putting down a $20 scent, then don't buy Afro Leather. If you want to live a little and want to ignore the people telling you what you should do, buy the thing for $20 and live your life. You will not be disappointed 😃 There are too many out there. You be you! Enjoy a $20 stunning fragrance!

Masculine, virile perfume, which passes the image of a guy arriving on a powerful motorcycle, with a cordura jacket, well-groomed beard and rough hair! Perfume is definitely not for boys! (Even, easier to use for a strong, elegant and imposing woman than a little boy who does a "vapo" pose lol) Although it carries "leather" in its name, it is not a strongly highlighted note, but it is present in the sense of smell. Comin is the most prominent note in the perfume, without a doubt. Suitable for milder nights, preferably cold. It has a moderate projection for high for about 1:30h to 2h. It maintains very intense fixation for approximately 7 hours and, after that, continues very intimately on the skin for up to 10-12 hours, and whoever greets or hugs it will still feel its perfume. I don't know the fragrance that inspired this one. But, just based on this, Maison Alhambra delivered an excellent perfume with a great cost-benefit. Fragrance: 10/10 Projection: 8/10 Longevity: 9.5/10 Pleasantness: 4/10 Sweetness: 0/10 Overall: 8.5/10

My review maybe will not be the best because i tested this perfume 2 times and in the summer season, but maybe it will help you to make a decision. Regarding all reviews it is worth a blind buy if you like leather notes in perfumes and taking in consideration the price point of approx 20$. In the opening i detect more leather, after that the spices come out and it turns into a rich aromatic leather smell. In the dry down it is more aromatic then leathery. The best season for it should be autumn / spring / winter, but not when is very cold since it is not that strong. The perfromance on my skin was moderate. Around 10h, but the sillage is was not that great, it performed more like a skin scent (I tested it on summer time, around 30 degrees, so maybe i could be wrong) I didn't smell yet Memo African Leather so im not able to tell you if it is a good clone or not. Only one thing i didnt like, it smell a little bit synthetic, but i will still buy this one in autumn season. Smell:8 Performance:8 Sillage:6 Price:10 Presentation:8

Firstly, this is NOT a leather scent. There is zero perceptible leather. The OG has no perceptible leather either based on my one smell test. Yes, the name of the OG is highly misleading. Moving on to my quick review: For the most part, this is a cardamom and vanilla bomb - think of a creamy and muted (less bright, less invigorating) YSL La Nuit de l'Homme. There's a 30% backbone of Tom Ford Grey Vetiver in here - a smell adjacent to tonic water (akin to a flat lemonade musk - this is not fizzy/sparkling though). Ideal for spring in my opinion, which essentially means it's all-seasons appropriate. Unisex, slightly masculine-leaning. Very similar to the OG based on my one smell test of the OG. This was very accurate from first spray, but ~6 months of maturation did this well to smooth out minor harshness. This DNA is 60% similar to Tom Ford Oud Wood and Penhaligon's The Blazing Mr Sam, which are both darker cardamom-vanilla bombs. 60% similar to V&R Spicebomb EDT, which has a very similar vibe but different notes.

A very generous sales person at Bloomingdales made me a 4-5ml sample of Memo African Leather after I tried it out and we chatted for close to 30 minutes about the rest of the line. I fell in love with that scent but wasn't going to pay the MSRP of $310 for 75ml of sauce. I saw Maison Alhambra Afro Leather being sold for $20 online and blind bought it with very low expectations. Surprisingly the scent gets pretty close to the original in the openingmid. The difference is apparent in the drydown and the 'richness' of the spices. Afro Leather smells thin if you compare them side by side but it's 15x less in cost, its to be expected. I was very happy upon initial testing. Being a Lattafa product I know not to judge this scent upon the first few times smelling it either. I'm going to revisit in the winter and see if I can detect any changes. This scent profile is great, will update my thoughts in the future.

I smelled African leather from Memo before. I liked it, but I wasn’t going after the exact scent profile when buying Afro leather, I was okay with it smelling a bit different, even though I never compared them side by side. And I love it! Longevity and silage is kind of low low, but I’ll let it macerate maybe it will get better If you love oud and spices - that’s it, it’s a very safe slight oud scent, hard to overspray so great for indoor occasions Overall happy with the purchase. Hopefully the silage and longevity gets better April 2025 UPDATE: I sold it LOL. Couldn’t really match it with any of my outfits or occasions. It’s a really niche scent. Can’t say I recommend it.

In the air it smells similar to Memo's African Leather when it gets to the dry-down. But sniffing up close is where you smell the lower quality, cheapish synthetic smell of Afro Leather. Given the cheap price compared to the real thing, it's ok as a scent profile in your arsenal of other colognes. It's just not cozy-up-to-a-woman-safe kind of scent. You wear this when you're at work, or alone, running errands or hanging with the guys. And as I said above.... comparing the two colognes, they are similar in the dry-down when you get wafts of it during air movement.

It seems to only be "inspired" by the original. To me it's more of a woody-spicy scent rather than an animalic-leather scent, also lacks some of the punch which might be a positive for some people. Really reminds me of Bentley for men Absolute with some cardamon thrown on top. It's a very masculine, "macho" scent(but in a cool and sexy, rather than obnoxious fashion), that's suitable for all seasons but really shines in the autumn. I like to wear it to rock festivals.

Never smelt Memo Paris's African Leather but disregarding that, this opens cumin dominated. However, gradually changes into a more soft, fresh citrus musk .Don't really catch much leather, decent longevity, okay projection. Way more suitable for colder weather. Blind bought and for the price this isn't bad at all but I won't be buying again.

Close to the original, more fresh and dries down a little sweeter, performs a bit worse. Very enjoyable scent, can be worn basically whenever imo. Price: 10/10 Longevity: 6/10 Sillage: 8/10 Smell: 6/10 Bottle: 7/10 Overall: 7/10

Out of all the cheapies I've tried this one is one of the best. It's biggest let down comes with the drydown. It leaves this sharp smell on your skin and on your clothes that kinda reminds me of pencil shavings. It's just not good and whatever else that's supposed to be going on with the fragrance it's just buried under. It's a shame as I really think it's very good for the first couple of hours.

I'm a big leather lover, I own few expensive and cheap leather fragrance which is super good but this one I didn't get any leather, what I get is just some synthetic spices. Good is I just bought 5ml decant so I just spray inside the toilet. But seriously I see people commented they get leather, hope I can get that but well

It has a sharp opening which isn't easy on the nostrils. After 5-10 minutes, the magic happens, and the scent becomes a unique blend of spices and earthiness. This is what I call a 'comfort scent' and not a 'wearing scent'. I would never wear this in public, but the scent itself is intriguing and takes me on a journey. I'll be wearing it when I want the feel of the Savannah. All in all, it lacks smoothness but does not come across as harsh or overly synthetic, it's also quite different on skin than on clothes, preferring the skin version as the only-clothes version doesn't seem to make the turn to mids well, retaining some of the synth from the opening. Good for its price.

Not a scent for young people. I've bought it, but it's my least worn fragrance yet and will probably give it away. At first the smell was horrible, so I opened my bathroom window, sprayed approximately 50 sprays out of it and let it sit for a few months. After a few months, I tried it again and it was way better. You really have to smell it from a distance, because it doesn't smell too well with your nose on your skin. My family doesn't like the smell of it, so I stopped wearing it. Maybe this is a good scent for older and more mature people after maceration, just not for me. (Sidenote: the bottle I received was already 5-6 years old)

I get: Dense sour sweet herbal saffron accord (with a green olive nuance) Warm powdery spicy aromatics (cumin doesn't come across as BO thankfully) Ambery sour spicy sweetness Subtle smooth yet zoo-like sour leather accord This is one of those fragrances where the first whiffs are offputting, and where it gets better the more you keep smelling. Not great to wear though, since realisticly people only smell the first whiff.

I tried African Leather by Memo couple of times and I absolutely fell in love with the scent. Just got this, it smells like cheap synthetic mess tbh. Opening is different and it doesn't smell good at all. In drydown is closer. Gonna let it macerate, but so far not satisfied.

To me, this was aromatic in a bad way. It feels overstimulating and screechy. This dna definitely isn't for me. 4/10

I just blind bought this to fill out an order. It's definitely a "challenging" fragrance, and I don't want to admit defeat yet. Upon opening it, I immediately sprayed it on my skin and went in for a sniff. I did not expect it to be so strong, and I gagged a bit. I was immediately reminded of the scene in Ron Burgundy in which he and Brian were discussing Sex Panther. "It's a formidable scent... stings the nostrils..." The second time I tested it, I went in more prepared. It's got a very strong cardamom (almost cumin?), woody, and animalic-leathery vibe. I need to tell a bit of a story to describe the scent... I have fond memories of walking through pet stores as a little kid. I especially enjoyed watching the small mammals (e.g. - guinea pigs, ferrets, etc). My heart feels warm just remembering the experience, and part of that is remembering the scent of fresh cedar chips. The woody and animalic-leathery notes in this fragrance remind me of that scent, not necessarily in a bad way. Add a healthy serving of sharp cardamom and a dash of patchouli, and that's what this fragrance smells like to me. I don't wear leather jackets, but I could imagine this scent going very well with that look. I'm going to see if a little time and maceration changes the character of the scent. In the meantime, I wouldn't recommend wearing this to the office or in high heat. If you aren't a fan of sharp cardamom or animalic leather, I suggest avoiding this.

Not my taste! I blind bought it thinking it could be a hidden leather gemstone like Ombre Leather and I didnt like the scent one bit. I didn’t perceive any leather notes. What I did perceive was a strong smell of sour wood. I gave this cologne to an uncle of mine, and of all the colognes I have, he liked afro leather the most. Moral of the story; Dont blind buy it. Furthermore, after smelling Tom Fords Oud Wood I can say that these two fragrances smell identical to each other. Oud Wood and Afro Leather share 3 notes according to fragrantica namely: Cardamom, Agarwood, and vetiver. Of the 3 notes that they share, Agarwood dominates all the other notes on both fragrances. If you like Tom Fords Oud Wood, you will like this one at a much lower price.

I bought this frangance I want to try it made my head hurt it bad forever and I’m kind of hate it but I wanna love you, but I don’t like it.

I own the OG and I got a bottle of this two years ago. It's 90% close to the OG, which I love, and it gets the job done in keeping the same scent profile. The cardamon is there and the major difference for me was the more pronounced vetiver, which makes this dupe more earthy and slightly darker in comparison to the original, and therefore more male oriented. It also indicates a less well blended cocotion or perhaps the overall usage of cheaper oils. The cumin is not the protagonist and it's just enough to add some wikedness to make the plot thicker. I don't think it is off-putting, nasty or animalic. It just makes things more spicy in much the same way it's done in the original. I think it projects and lasts well just like Memo's, and the sillage will leave the room a few minutes after you. If you don't want to spend a kidney with the OG, this will definitely get the job done during late autumn and winter.

I usually know within SECONDS if I love or hate a cologne. This one is puzzling me. The list of notes is 100% "my thing" ! Perfect. The opening is a "synthetic FUNK" that feels like something from a commercially made douche bag cologne from a shopping mall. The middle stage of this - comes off as a bit "softer" . A subtle "Car Leather" is in the background. This is "night time" "masculine" and "dark". It's long lasting. It's making me think that the Memo African Leather must smell non-synthetic and AMAZING ! For the low low price of this, I cannot complain. If you hate "synthetic funk" , I guess you would avoid this. Would make a good gift for a younger guy that wants to feel "niche" but has no clue . This would come off as "witchy" on a lady - so there's that.

Has a prominent oud note and reminded me the moment i sprayed it on on the ombre nomade DNA ( to wich it shares many notes). Since i don't own a bottle of the ON i pulled out the Maison Alhambra Clone i own (Jean lowe noir) and tried them side by side.. and yes, they smell quiet similar. It doesnt work for me, though - can't get used to the "medicinical" smell of the oud.
