Black Origami

This has become a comfort scent for me I wear before bed and it helps me drift away. It s creamy and dreamy. I have owned Black Orchid and this checks all the boxes. Today I bought Bentley Absolute, Papyrus Oud 71, and as I came to my room to chill and sprayed my Black Oragami, I decided to get a second bottle while it is still $17/100ml on Amazon! I have worked hard recently and have earned a couple small and one big purchase (I got the 100ml Papyrus Oud 71 for $165 on eBay. It has been a while since I bought expensive cologne. My last 2 purchases, a 75ml and a 125ml of Fleur du Male from Gaultier. (I bought one fake one also earlier but finally got lucky.) I don't think they are cloning this level of Niche so hopefully it will be fine. I wore Gucci Pour Homme during the best 10 years of my life, living on Venice Beach having big parties,.. I already own Bond #9 Dubai Platinum, I bought Bentley Absolute and Papyrus Oud 71 today, now I will have all the relevant fragrances from the same Parfumeur who made Gucci Pour Homme (incidentally the one Ron Jeremy wore LOL I saw his cologne on Celebrity Big Brother UK LOL), I am so excited to have made a big purchase on a premium Niche meant to honour my favorite cologne of all time! I will update with impressions. Of both! Bless!

Love this one 90% dupe of Tom Ford Black Orquid edp. It is not as 3dimensional and rich as the Tom Ford but it is so close. The black origami has a fresher note that the OG doesn’t have. Its performance is pretty decent around 1 hr projection then it still stays on a close bubble. After 6-8 hrs it becomes a skin scent but lasts on skin around 10hrs. What is nice about this one is that is not as nuclear as the OG. I can wear it casually knowing it won’t stay on my skin 20hrs. The OG I use for special occasions this dupe I use it whenever I feel like wearing the scent at home or just because. This scent is so unusual and unique and it is my #1 on my list. It is a polarizing scent either you love it or you hate it. It’s a heavy rich dirty floral and it is 100% unisex. A masterpiece to my nose. Scent 9/10 Projection 8/10 Longevity 8/10 Price 10/10

Unisex, but leans feminine. Lovely scent, but doesn't last on my skin. Strong at first, but dries down to nothing; I can't even detect it on my clothes after four hours. I suppose, like an orchid, you have to appreciate it while it's in bloom. It's inexpensive, so you can always reapply as needed. Solid 7.5/10, but would be higher if it had more longevity. 9/22/25 Update: I've had this for 10 months now. Still a gorgeous scent. Still leans feminine. Performance-wise, it is greatly improved. Definitely projects more, and now lasts all day. Sprayed this on at 900am and I can still smell it at 530pm (but it's not super-strong; light and subtle). I really like this. Like Secret, I believe it can be worn by a man, but it's made for a woman. Confident dudes can pull this off, though, no problem!

This is similar to Black Orchid. Def in the same family and a beauty. There is something in here that smells like licorice to me. Or is it mushrooms in soil. IDK, maybe a combo of both. Likely that truffle. The opening gets on my nerves a lil bit. It dries down to be nearly the same scent. It is worth a try for men. As a woman, it isn't as sweet as the OG and doesn't settle on my skin as nicely. I almost gave this bottle away to my bro in law but I'm still letting it sit bc it is nice. A like, not a love for me.

I blind bought this one, I didn’t know what the OG smelled like. I wore this fragrance today and i instantly recognized it....it smells like the perfume counter at Nordstrom. They sell Tom Ford there, so it makes sense. I am very pleased with the quality of this fragrance, it smells like a wealthy older woman’s perfume...old money not new. I would not overspray this one...2-3 sprays max for me. it is potent but lovely date night, evening at the ballet or opera type of scent profile.

After sitting on my shelf for a month, finally that strong medicinal hit on the first spray disappeared. Now its much more blended and became very beautiful scent. Its very tea, herbal in the opening, strong yet gentle, nothing overpowering or hitting me on the face. Mind you, that was not the case from the first sprays when I just got it. Its very well blended and quickly develops to sweet, incense and patchouli. Its not super strong or offensive to me at least.

Definitely not blind buy safe for what the fragrance is but the price point makes it so but only if you’ve smelt the original or something similar. Gotta be in the older age 30+ wearing a suit or going to a white party. Super classy and different from the norm. Solid performance and longevity. $20 won’t break the bank especially if you want something different.

This stuff is easily a 10/10 for me. It's less than 20 bucks and smells very expensive. The floral and truffle combine for a great fragrance. After some maceration this ends up being almost beast mode. Most people have marked this as moderate sillage but this is a projection monster in my opinion. Very loud. This is a very unique and wonderful fragrance.

I just got this today and man is it good. It leans more masculine than the OG and is much less sweet. It’s a drier version but still so good. I layered this with an impression oil of Black Orchid I have and it really lasts well. Definitely NOT a safe blind buy but for this patchouli lover, it’s absolute magic. And for the price? No brainer!

I compared this brand to the original and there are subtle differences but they smell almost exactly the same. They behave differently, this has a really nice dry down, the scent lasts long, and it smells amazing. The original has a weird dry down where diffent scents are released as it settles on skin or clothes. So it's a great dupe.

I have the black origami and today tested the black orchid reserve it has chocolatey opening even the untrained noses can detect no problem. Black origami has that chocolatey opening even but not as strong as black orchid reserve. There is a big 75-80 percent similarity at the opening but the dry down is nearly identical.

This stuff surprised me, smells super flowery but not extremely feminine. I'd say it's unisex leaning feminine. Projects very well and longevity isn't bad either. 9.5/10 from me. Update: after letting this sit for one week it smells way richer and longevity improved quite a bit too. Updated to 10/10.

Price point there is no better alternative to Tom Ford black orchid. For me ylang ylang and Sandalwood notes in the opening and dry down vanilla.not getting any synthetic or weird,feels quality.Good for night out

The perfume is without exaggeration a 97% dupe of black orchid. It is literally the same and has the same longevity. If you don't like black orchid don't add a review on this one telling lies!! Thank you

From my perspective, it's better than the original

For someone who was looking for a dark romantic and gothic perfume, Black Origami performed genuinely not bad. I am personally someone who adores earthy or even moldy scents, which thanks to the truffle note did shine through in the beginning, however it quickly develops into a way softer and lighter scent which is definitely more mass appealing than the dark and niche vibe I was hoping for. I have only just bought it so I still have yet to experience the wonders of maceration. Overall I’d say the scent in itself is definitely pleasant and wearable, especially after it dries down a bit. The performance is definitely a bit disappointing, especially compared to other MA perfumes. It lasts for about 2 hours and then develops into a skin scent. The longevity is similar, projects for about an hour until it sits very close to skin. I still adore this fragrance and would recommend it to everyone who is looking for a more wearable/ mass appealing and less imposing version of Black Orchid.

What I can say about it is that it does not have the best opening... not that it's chemical. No, you get some floral, citrusy scents, but that truffle is making it so earthy it almost becomes bad. But after 10-15 minutes, you start getting more of that floral, spicy scent. I didn’t smell lots of chocolate after the dry down, but I can definitely smell the amber and the sandalwood, along with some smokiness. Patchouli is there, but not that obvious for me. Projection 3/10 Longevity 6/10 It's wearable for me; I may spray it occasionally.

This is really nice. I get a lot of truffle, gardenia, and chocolate coming through. To be completely honest, I actually like this better than Black Orchid, to me that's slightly medicinal and this one is much more sweet and wearable. Very sexy and a perfect night-out scent. Longevity gets better after a month so hang in there baby! I stay getting compliments with this one.

This is the scent of a rich and elegant senior woman. Not one who tries to look younger wearing daring clothes or submitting herself to numerous cosmetic procedures. No, no! It's about a senior lady who accepts that the time is passing and let marks on her face. An old-school grandma full of personality, energy and love for life. Beautiful scent!

The opening is insanely overpowering and smells extemely earthy and intially wasn't for me. I tried another spray today on my hand to see if It would grow on me and it really does dry down into a very pleasant fragrance. I don't know If I could justify wearing it for the long and drawn out opening however.

TF Black Orchid serves too much of everything - patchouli, florals, truffle, spice, complexity, push - but that decadent artistic overdose engenders its unique character, offensive to some, but very attractive to others. Perhaps in an effort toward a less polarising tone, this inspired creation has blunted the character of the original. Performance is fine for a $20 fragrance, but doesn't approach the best that this house offers at the price point. It's a nice smelling perfume, but not very comparable an experience to the intensity of TFBO, in my opinion.

TF Black Orchid on the left hand, Black Origami on the right. They both seem similar at first sniff, but there is no way that this is remotely as good (for the profile) as TF Black Orchid. I am not a TF fanboy by ANY means, but Black Orchid blows this stuff out of the water, quality- and scent-profile-wise. Just look around online; you can find TF at a not-so-crazy price like 60$ authentic. Don't waste your money on the Black Origami unless you really don't have the extra funds to buy the TF. No shame.

Exceptional, For a perfume that is cloning the dna of Black Orchid it did exceptionally well, almost identical but the more you focus on the scent the less complex it seems in comparison to the original. Rich, Dark, Sweet but not too sweet A 6/10 Only issue is the performance

Whoever said this perfume smells really good about 2 hours later is spot on to me. At first is pretty manly and aggressive smelling, very middle eastern leaning.. Only after 2 hour it's mellows out and becomes more of sophisticated unisex type of perfume.

A high similarity to TF black orchid ofc not the same quality of ingredients but the final scent is really acceptable. Performance is very good too. Highly recommend.

I'm usually quite easy going and not a hater but this stuff is a no go. I can see why Black Orchid by TF gets so much hate. This clone rates higher than the original for reasons I can not comprehend. I might update this later but I'm test driving this on my wrist today and so far its as nasty as it was when I shot some into the box a week ago. THE HORROR OF YLANG YLANG BANANA STANK!!!! To be blunt it smells like my moms purse with a banana in it....Mom used to drop fruit in her bag when she worked 2 jobs. There was that Avon cream scent like roses and the banana. I'm getting nothing earthy or spicy. just a big honking yellow flower stank radiating from my arm. 2 sprays of a cloying sweet thick floral gag inducing stink. NO Darkness, No earthiness just overipe banana floral sweetness. Terrible stuff. 22$ blind buy cheapie so no harm done but unless this matures to something better it's a NO SIR right now. I'm at the end of a full day of this on my wrist and nothing develops beyond that sick overipe banana floral disgusting scent . There's an old person vibe to this. There are no words for how much this is bad..and once again I am pretty easy going. I can't understand why this was even cloned. no woods no earthiness no spicy just that bananas in the trash scent that is mega repulsive. Give it to people you hate

After wrist testing this and being turned of I finally bit the bullet and wore it today. My wife usually comes into the powder room after I've applied whatever scent I will wear for the day and comments . 95% of the time is just a MMMMMMMMMMMMM type sound. She said nothing this morning. I said, You don't like my perfume today? She replied , I think it has something in it like the one I hate (encre noir). ...To sum it up I find it floral and she gets earthy notes akin to Vetyver that she can't stand. I get an unpleasant over ripe fruit note ( that's my best explanation). It smells somehow older lady avon scent to me. I just don't seem to understand this scent. I get nothing masculine in it. No woods or earthiness. UPDATE: Description of Ylang Ylang is my smoking banana . Click on it and read the note description. So I figure I will never like this one no matter what. I'm huffing my wrist as I write this to try to get anything else but a sweet fruit floral note. Over ripe banana still comes to mind. I've had this bottle a few months now and it still doesn't do a thing for me. We all have our types of scents and this one isn't to my liking. I'm glad to read the reviews where people really love this and why. It's an excercise in realising how we share a perfume passion and can be totally opposite in our favors.

Sadly one of the most disappointing buys for now. Why? Well I’ve sniffed black orchid and it’s gorgeous. While this? A close runner up but it just lacks the smoothness of black orchid. It’s close but something is overpowering the notes and not mixing around with them. After 15 minutes it gets near the 90% but that’s what you get for another 30 minutes... why? The dry down starts and just in 2 hours max it’s gone. Just get oud 24hours. It’s 85% for the first 2-3 hours, projects arms length, and dry down is like 95-98% the same as black orchid, yet it becomes a skin scent at that point. How is this performing better? Like I don’t get the rating here, my batch is from 10/2024 and it’s like some even cheaper cologne from a thrift store that just smells great. I don’t get the praise for this lackluster perfume. Trying to get a refund like man this one just feels like a big disappointment.

Black Origami is a famously opulent and melodramatic scent. Sampling it in quiet solitude may summon dark visions entertaining as grand opera, or a murder mystery. ...But to wear this out to (anti-)social occasions is to dare fate. Of course, it would be absurd to deny it. The name with initials B.O., an opaque black and gold 'film noir' flask, and most of all, that unforgettable scent of chocolate, ylang-ylang, spices, and soil. Black Origami is indeed a most faithful adaptation of Tom Ford's Black Orchid scent profile, ...or, to use the common patois of the street, a dupe. It is almost as if a glossy sheet of metaphorical obsidian-black paper has been folded into an origami orchid. Wear it like a corsage, and spray it with whichever perfume you choose. With so many Black Orchid flankers, it would make for interesting discussion as to which one is closest in scent to Black Origami. Yet even with laborious direct sample comparisons, the debate would remain contentious. Referencing only the original composition is probably the safest course; Still, the way both chocolate and ylang-ylang burst to the forefront does suggest an intensity most akin to Black Orchid Reserve, ...which ironically enough, came out three years after Black Origami.

The first time I sprayed this, all I sensed was a dark truffle-like earthy scent along with something almost dank. I found it unpleasant to my nose (admittedly, after a day of brighter florals) so I set it aside and thought I’d give it a few days and try again. I cannot emphasize enough how much I loved this perfume upon the second go. To my nose, it’s an Oriental floral with jasmine and ylang ylang shining through earthy truffle and warm patchouli and incense, with a foundation of sandalwood, vetiver, and vanilla. I sprayed it over my bedsheets last night, and it was a relaxing way to end the day. I think it is a unisex scent, and probably more suited to cooler weather or evenings, but I think if you spray it lightly, you could wear it in all but the hottest weather, provided you have air conditioning. If you are considering whether or not to blind buy this fragrance, I would say you’re probably not going to like it if you don’t care for dark, heavier, scents with incense and intense florals. I am a 58-year-old woman who wore vintage Shalimar extrait as her signature sent for much of her life, so this is right up my alley.

Nous sommes à la 3eme semaine de juillet, je viens de le recevoir. Bien évidemment, ce n'est pas la bonne saison pour le porter, et je le sais, mais je sais aussi que pour les parfums orientaux le laisser mûrir est le secret déjà, rien qu'au 1er pschitt whaou j'ai été transportée à Noël le chocolat, la truffe, le patchouli l'ylang ylang et les fleurs blanches, le cadre est déjà posé, il ne manque que la longévité, la maturation me l'apportera je suis patiente et j'anticipe.Je l'ai placé dans mon armoire dans son carton bien à l'abri de la lumière, après avoir délivré son 1er pschitt.Pour résumé ce parfum est une petite pépite il a tout d'un parfum de niche.

Id say it’s a 95% dupe. Its missing that slap in the face bold opening that black orchid has upon spraying! (thats what I like abt black orchid) It does have some of it, but it’s like a diet version. So if u like black orchid but think its a little too much you might love this one. Regarding the longevity and projection: Longevity is pretty bad, although I just got it a week ago. Maybe maceration will help it over a couple of months or so. As far as projection, it’s decent and it has a decent sillage too, for about the first hour tho... Final touhhts: If you don’t mind reapplying, it’s a good choice for your wallet if you like the black orchid DNA

You know, it's not difficult to find the ACTUAL notes for these, a lot of them are right on the Alhambra website. Top Notes: Black Truffle, Bergamot, Blackcurrant, Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang Heart Notes: Patchouli, Incense Base Notes: Vetiver, Sandalwood, Vanilla, Resin This stuff smells really good and performs well. I never smelled TF Black Orchid but looking at the notes it looks like they went even more unisex with it, on me I'd even say it leans more masculine. So definitely be aware of that if you are looking for a 1:1 clone, look elsewhere.

This is genuinely identical to black orchid, the same stunningly rich and unique scent profile for a fraction of the price. My friend owns the original and I can’t tell the difference. Lasts all day with very strong sillage for a solid 3-4 hours initially. If you like black orchid but don’t like the price, get this. Black orchid can be an acquired taste, so if you don’t want to risk blind buying it, this is also a fantastic option for that.

Mon avis sur cette fragrance : le black origami il est bien , un très bon séchage chocolat a la truffe , 100 pour 100 tom ford black orchide malheureusement l ouverture est très floral, pour sentir le black orchide vous devez attendre presque 2 h pour que l identité du parfum apparaissent je lui donne un 6.5 sur 10

Bought this for my aunt - she loves Black Orchid. Initial sprays, from my memory, is almost spot-on Black Orchid. I am leaving it to macerate for about a month (first spraying 2025/11/21). Will update later + an opinion from a person who loves Black Orchid.

The sillage and projection here are enormous!!! Think Portrait Of a Lady loud. It's a nice fragrance just be mindful of squirts because it's a monster. Not sure of longevity yet.

If you thought the original Black Orchid was too hars and masculine , then this one is more male perfume so I gave it to my bro.. It is 70% likes TF black orchid🙂

As an owner of both black orchid and black orchid parfum; seriously - this stuff is amazing. Just amazing. Buy it.

It's smells so good, and not scary at all like some say. Not feminine.
