Grise

I read good reviews on it, for the price, I had to try it. Been looking for a rose centric scent in spray form. As a man, i have love/hate relstionship with rose. Some are so cloyingly sweet, or synthetic. My best friend loves real rose oil. As a muslim, rose plays a prominent role in both male and female scents in what we wear in attar oil. Rose carries such a feminine implication in the west and its a shame because its a wonderful scent. The initial spray is a wonderful accord of rose with a woody, earhty background. Its floral and sweet but the patchouli and oakmoss really grounds it, making it lean both masculine and less heady. The headiness of rose is probably my main issue, for me, its overly intoxicating and drowns out so many notes with it. Grey Ash(formerly Grise) balances it nicely. The rose note itself, I would say is Bulgarian Rose. Its sweet and jammy, but not too cloying. Its not overally floral or spicy like Moroccan and Turkish variety, or soft and powdery like Taif Rose. As it dries, it stays pretty basic. Bulgarian Rose with a woody earthy base. This isnt breaking new ground per say, but its a very well rounded blend, smooth and velvety. Was never able to catch any bergamot. The distinct cedar and sandalwood notes are very subtle, sitting very close to the skin. At arms length, you get a more general soft, creamy wood tone. The amber keeps it warm, preventing an overlt dryness the cedar and sandalwood typically evoke. This scent for me defines "velour and velvet." You can almost feel the softness of the material ehen you smell it. I love this smell. Its so out of left field for me (im a tobacco, leather, vetiver and pungeant authentic oud fanatic). My florals are jasmine, violet and lavendar mainly. This is probably the first rose smell I can actively handle without feeling headache inducing or choking me out with a massive scent bubble. I find it unique in how powerful it fills a room with 2-3sprays without being nuclear. The longevity is excellent on my skin, 8+ hours. Ita decidely unisex, though i feel western men in general may be uncomfortable with such a rose centric perfume. I cant think of a season, occassion or time of day/night where Grey Ash can't work. Its one of the most versatile scents I own. If you love rose, male or female, this is an excellent pick up for the price. Its a semi floral, jammy Bulgarian Rose but never cloying or gourmand with the jammy vibe thanks to the patchouli and oakmoss. Ill always have a bottle of Grey Ash. Its unique in my collection and I love it.

EDIT: this has now been re-named Grey Ash, AND the plasticky notes aren't there, even before maceration (I hope they don't appear...). Absolutely lovely. No reason to hunt down Grise (I have a large sample of it) - get Grey Ash. I absolutely love my bottle. I think this is unisex, but does lean feminine. INITIAL REVIEW: I definitely recognize this from expensive perfume stores! I didn't quite understand back then what perfume I was smelling; it smelt kinda like some very calm perfume and a bunch of plastic from around the perfume packaging. Turns out, the sweet plastic smell WAS part of the perfume 😆 It is a soft chypre: soft patchouli, barely-there rose, soft oakmoss, soft woody notes. Everything is kinda toned down and "greyed", like the name itself. In a good way. But can also seem a little placticky, as mentioned above. Smells very expensive. I'm considering getting a bottle- currently I only have a large sample of already macerated Grise.

My bottle is called Gray Ash, the re-named version of Grise. Manufactured date of 7-24. I studied on this version of Dior Gris before I purchased it. That’s just me when I blind buy. EVERY NOTE makes an appearance and oh so elegantly. Very earthy and beautiful synonymously. Nothing over powers in this elegant Rose-Chypre blend. It’s not bright or modern, (thank heavens) It is rich and elegant diffusion of old world notes comprising a glorious chypre fragrance. Lasts 7+ hours with decent sillage. You wont smell like granny or gramps. You wont smell cheap or 2nd tier. You will smell refined. You will smell unique. Found my bottle on Fragrancenet, for $16. I’d call that a steal!

I have Grey Ash by Maison Alhambra, which is what they renamed Grise. Must have been too similar to the Dior named fragrance. I love it. It is one of most popular scent profiles from a few years ago and there are lots of similar scents at all price points. Grey Ash is 100% worth the price, I wouldn't pay more than 40$ for this though! It smells of Rose but honestly other than that it is well blended and the other notes all work together well. I would describe the dry down as kind of mossy and woody but the rose sticks around. It isn't fruity or gourmand like everything else these days. I really like this scent. I would love a real bottle of Gris Dior.

Renamed to Grey Ash. Classic and refined. There's nothing overly loud here, nothing sharp. Best way I can describe it is "soft" or "desaturated", but in a really good way. I get a little bit of the bergamot in the opening, but it doesn't take long to fade out. Cedar and my chemistry don't always get along (which sucks as I love cedar), but here it's done really well and plays nice with my chemistry. Overall, it's very comfortable (no unsettling opening, just straight into soft, grounded roses) and an easy reach. It has quickly earned a place in my daily rotation.

Nose Note #108 What an amazing scent. Very smooth, round scent. Very feminine rendition of moss. Goes well with rose and the sourness from bergamot gives a nice citrus touch. Has a little bit of sweetness Unisex leaning feminine. My wife and friends like it. The bottle is elegant but kind of generic Not an amazing performer, but good enough The scent DNA is just unique. Unique and floral, but not overbearing. Rosy on initial spray, tarty with the bergamot note. Yes, Grey Ash definitely leans feminine, but a man can wear this. Thoroughly enjoying, but definitely seems like a summer fragrance. Worth the price

This one is amazing, love the patchouli as it is brighter and stronger. Amazingly accurate to the original with decent longevity and sillage.

Really accurate dupe for Dior Gris Dior - I’d give it a 90% accuracy that goes to 95% in the dry down. I have both on either hand right now, and after a few hours I’d say Grey Ash has more staying power, still relatively prominent on skin after about 6+ hours, where Gris Dior is there just softer. Ash starts off a bit sharper and patchouli forward, but dries down perfectly soft with all notes present and harmonious. Gris Dior has a roundness to all its notes that starts and ends with a softness to it on both skin and clothes. Overall an impressive dupe, starts off a little assertive but after 30 minutes it is hard to differentiate from a spray of Gris Dior. Really impressive for the suspiciously low cost - while outlasting its inspiration by far.

Clone Time (after 3 months of home maceration) Dior Gris Dior 99%. Smelled them side by side with the fresh woody rose .. hard to describe it is not a grandma vibe _ I wore it several times Unisex - Niche - smells classy, but Not old fashioned. I would buy it again. To me this smells clean, not soapy but like a crisp, freshly washed white shirt. Light, elegant, and perfect for summer. Also a good bedtime scent and parfect to layer with some others.

Smells like grape soda on first spray (actual grape soda, not that silver scent stuff) then disappears before I get anything else. I guess ima have to hope it gets stronger.

Very close to gris dior, just lasts less long but good gym scent honestly, fresh and green. The rose is actually pretty good.

Ultimately unremarkable. The opening is a brief, synthetic assault. A sour, chemical bergamot ushers in a rose note. There is an undeniable, sterile echo of a bathroom cleaner here a sharp, plasticized floral that is functional at best, and jarring at worst. This passes quickly opening up to something far more agreeable, but simple. It evokes a field of flowers, yes, but one of supermarket roses, bright, pleasant, and boring. A flicker of patchouli appears and vanishes, which also brings back the cleaner vibe, but the experience is pleasant in the way pop song is pleasant. It's fine. Finally, The florals calm themselves, retreating into a soft, mossy-woodsy base that sits very close to the skin. It becomes a personal scent, a faint, clean whisper. It lasted 4-6 hours each time I wore it before needing to push my nose into my wrist to smell it. A word of caution; this must be worn on skin. On fabric, that initial plastic ghost never truly exorcises itself, lingering with a synthetic tenacity. On skin, it finds a modicum of warmth and grace. As a scent. it's fine. As a dupe, This is not its equal, but rather, its less ambitious, more straightforward cousin. It does the job. The resemblance is there, a familial echo, and to truly dissect the differences, one would need to smell them side-by-side.

Have not smelled the original but this is a no for me. It's not offensive or bad per se, just unique. I would say masculine leaning. I do not get any of the rose or bergamot. I've had my bottle for almost a year and was hoping with some maturing the notes would settle/mature better but alas. It reminds me of a black haircare product from my childhood so perhaps I am a little biased against that smell.

Not getting anything else but a HEAVY dose of overpowering powder and florals. Hope the powder tones down significantly or else I'll be selling this soon.

Mislead by some male reviewers, this is definitely feminine. Good and classy but feminine.

Update- Nov 30th, 2025: Still smells like generic purple candy with a mellowed citric acid brightness. Will update again end of December. I have no idea if the scent will noticeably change. I may get rid of this bc the scent is very generic and uninteresting to me. Previous: September 28th, 2025: Currently, this perfume smells sweet and reminds me of generic purple candy with a floral sense to it. I'm hoping it isn't a misbottled batch. Rcvd bottle September 13th, 2025: Needs to Mature/ oxidize/ macerate.

I have many MA fragrances and they are all spot on - not 100% exact dupes but 96-98%. And - cruelty-free so for me it's a no-brainer and I couldn't care less for the negligible differences here and there. Recently, they surprised me with a 99% dupe, so I am really curious about this one, although I've never smelled the OG. I am on the hunt for rose fragrances that are interesting and NOT toilet fresheners.

sweet rose a bit feminine but I still rock it it smells like soap thats unisex but mainly used by women if yk what I mean. not very earthy in my opinion just sweet rose this is something I like not unique yet stands out cuz soap usually doesn't project this long also got a compliment from my dad which never happens with sweet fragrances so this hits both sweet noses and the more manly noses

It smells old and sad, really grey (Gris).
