Incense Ebony

#1758 in my “Tour de Fragrance” I love Tom Ford “Ebene Fume”, which I bought, used it all up, and replaced it with Fragrance World “Ebony Fume.” The scent was close, but the quality not so much. Then I got Fragrance World “Alpha” which at first I thought was just a change of bottle and branding, but actually lasts longer on the skin. Now I have this. Of the three I find the scent and quality of this Maison Alhambra dupe best of breed and on par with the original Tom Ford. For me, palo santo and papyrus really works. Alfred Dunhill “Egyptian Smoke” is one of my all-time favorites. Though there’ve been a couple of disappointments. "Eilish 2”, but I kinda assume celebrity fragrances will have shit quality. And surprisingly Vilhelm Parfumerie “Skins & Vilhelm”, usually a reliable house, was really bad. But “Ebene Fume” is a great scent and the dupes are well worth the very reasonable prices. When I first got this mid last year it was a smoky mess of smell. It smelled like a wood ashtray full of cigarette butts. However I put it on today and it smelled amazing! So it's a fresh, very woody, and smoky incense fragrance. It smells fantastic. It smells like the dry down of an amazing freshie or blue fragrance. That's not to say it's an incomplete fragrance, but it would be awesome to layer with something with a soapy, citrus, or just fresh fragrances. Incense Ebony starts out with a bang with major smoky incense, and a fresh vibe from something, and lots of woods. In the first couple hours it has a sharp smell that reminds me of a nice oud, but it only lasts a couple hours. Finally it ends as a smoky, woody, clean, almost powdery fragrance. It lasts a long time and projects well. This is good stuff, and it would be good to layer, but it's great on its own too.

About 90% close, IMO. The quality isn’t as good, nor is the depth compared with the original. But a $300 and a $29 can’t be compared properly. And I’m an idiot for typing my 2nd sentence. This is still a banger. It’s such an easy reach on a cold winter’s evening. This one punches.

My fav "churchy" fragrance, first you smell incense then the drydown is woody and floral. I love this one more than the original and it lasts for hours.

The palo santo, incense and papyrus notes spoke to me as a fragrance accord I might enjoy. Incense Ebony wears as a thick, (black) peppery, smoky, balsamic and resinous incense fragrance with a dense woody dry-down resplendent with labdanum and a frankincense accord. The papyrus, rose and labdanum make the fragrance a wee-bit luminous in its drydown. But start-to-finish Incense Ebony is a smoky, resinous, liturgical incense fragrance. I might favor these notes as supporting characters but not as main players in a perfume. A nice fragrance but uber-masculine. Definitely not a perfume I will likely reach for as an older woman.

beautiful fragrance, terrible performance

it's an okay woody, smoky fragrance with a masculine cedar and incense profile. It's very one-dimensional and monotonous, with not much happening after the opening. It feels flat and boring, like it needed more notes or complexity to become something more interesting. The drydown also has this odd ozonic, metallic synthetic note that doesn't really match the rest of the fragrance. I think it might be the violet leaf, and it gives the scent a slightly unbalanced feeling. 4/10

This is very strong spicy smoky scent. I cant stand more than 2 sprays. Btw its a stronger clone of Lalique Encre Noire L'Extreme. Its 99% the same scent.

This is an OK layering fragrance. It is your standard pepper/oud/incense but much less complex smelling than the notes listed and others I have in my collection (but please keep in mind mine is freshie and may need to sit longer for other notes to come out). It is a softer (I suspect this is from the Palo Santo and Violet) Smokey, Woody, and ever so slightly herbally (in the back) fragrance. As it stands at the moment, it is good as a layer fragrance for something without these notes (sweet or floral) to give it that depth or just to use as a simpler/softer everyday fragrance if you are obsessed with this type of DNA. If you own any other Middle Eastern fragrances or any Penhaligons Halfettis (Orig/Cedar/Leather) it is redundant to own this. I have so many with this DNA now that it didn't do anything for me, but may do for you if you don't or haven't smelt others yet.

I'm through with Arab Warehouse clones for a while. ( It feels like they just have a warehouse of aroma-chems and pick 'n choose the same notes over and over to reach their goal. ) I just got this today and I really don't get "smoky incense" as much as I get "mushy wooden spices". (Sad face) . That said ; I will let this sit with an EDIT as soon as anything happens . I was kinda on a "no buy" and these things are just piling up on me ! LOL. I have yet to sample a TF Ebony fragrance because my Nordstrom's closed down !! (Sad face) . GRADE ?????

It's very close to the original but in a synthetic way. I own the original, but wanted a clone to spam spray. When spraying this on either my skin or clothes, i get nose blind very very fast, in like a minute. The resin notes are very close to the original but it is very strong and chemical.. When wearing the original, i can smell and enjoy it for all its longevity.. I had to spray this on a cloth and leave it in another room, and check up on it now and then. After a day, the smell is still there, still quite sweet.

Have TF Ebene Fume on multiple formats and a number of dupes and clones. This is very good! I am set for life.
