Jean Lowe Nouveau

#1350 in my "Tour de Fragrance" As I assume everyone knows by now, Maison Alhambra "Jean Lowe Nouveau", a clone of Louis Vuitton "Nouveau Monde", has been rebranded as "Jean Lowe Fraiche." Alhambra has scent-by-scent moved away from outright infringing on the branding of the scents they copy, and confused everyone in the fragrance world in the process. The scent nevertheless is unchanged. For myself, I've long since stopped being impressed with Louis Vuitton handbags, and I find Louis Vuitton scents ridiculously overpriced, more so than ever since there are lots of fairly good quality scents available that are very much like "Nouveau Monde" in scent, most of better longevity and sillage, and at a far lower price. The fact is there are many very similar scents, differing in a note here of there, but pretty much interchangeable with the Vuitton scents. Similar to this are Penhaligon's "Halfeti", Kajal's "Warek", Prada's "Marienbad", Montale's "Oud Rising" and "Fantastic Oud", Mancera's "Deep Forest", Ahmed Al Maghribi's "Summer Oud", Zimaya's "Ilham Al Oud, And the very best of them all, Destino Paris "London Twilight", which I originally picked up for under $20, but now is $35 and up. Nevertheless this is a great scent and a bargain at this price point. As oud scents go this is fresh and light. Good for any weather. Car pool, elevator and small office safe in moderation. Solid longevity and sillage. Good for business or pleasure. A fragrance enthusiast friend who has all the Vuitton scents told me now that these are all out there he'll never pay a Vuitton price again. Totally makes sense to me. I don't think anyone really needs to spend more than $30 to smell great these days, and I am spending above $100 on a scent more rarely than ever. Especially for scents like Nouveau Monde which is just not that unique any more and certainly not $300 unique.

I'm wearing this Jean Lowe Fraiche for the first time today. Reading the reviews it's hard to imagine it's the same as Jean Lowe Nouveau because people be hating too much for something that's so easy to wear. To my nose Jean Lowe Fraiche is very fresh and almost like a spicy soapy floral rose fragrance(at least in the air). It's kind of giving me vibes of some of the imagination clones or Onyx Silver but with rose and florals. I'm not sure how people can be hating on this because it's so nice. I just can't see this being so polarizing. It smells like an all year fragrance, but maybe better for warmer months. Now when I stick my nose right to my forearm I can almost detect some oud, some leather, maybe some smokey note, also something sweet like perhaps blackcurrant, and maybe caramel and cacao. So I can see how if they went heavy on the notes this could be a darker more brooding fragrance, but it's very light, fresh, and very safe to my nose even up close. It's kind of giving me Black Orchid vibes if Black Orchid was much lighter and fresher. I think Jean Lowe Fraiche is absolutely fan-freakin'-tastic! I look forward to wearing this more in the summer.

I honestly can't believe that people are saying this is so challenging to wear?? To me, it smells like a more masculine Mancera Crazy for Oud with leather. This is a super high quality scent, especially for its price! The fragrance has a great lifespan and changes a few times throughout the life of the scent... 0 min: Rose oud + leather in the beginning 30 min: Depth appears from the saffron, dry cacao and smooth incense 3-4 hrs: spicy nuances become more prominent from the interaction of notes and this becomes more of a dry, spicy leather 10-12 hrs: Very lifelike, woody scent with a bit of texture. I guess this might not be for everyone, but I've been loving it the last few days. After more experience with this one, I will say that it is exceptionally masculine and the scent is quite formal, which may be challenging for some... but I don't find this to be industrial or motor oil or burnt tires at all. It's not challenging at all, for me 🤷♂️

Does anyone know if the Jean Lowe “Fraiche” is the same as this one just with a new name? Some people say yes but I can’t find a straight answer. Thanks Edit: I got a bottle of the Fraiche and it’s very good. In the same ballpark as the LV but this has more iso e super and is more mass appealing, less oudy and more woody. Lasts forever, easy 10hours.

This is now jean lowe fraiche. It's odd because I thought i got the wrong fragrance. I thought the notes would come across differently but I was wrong. This comes across as somewhat fresh. Not at all how I pictured the scent. In any event I kinda like it. 7/10 for now.

I’ve never smelled Nuoveau Monde, but there isn’t anything at all “fraische” about this. The notes on Jomashop are WRONG. No citrus or brightness whatsoever. Smells like a grown-ass man. I also like to layer it with sweet and/or fresher scents

Like the Noir fragrance, people stop me in the street to ask what I wear. This is a compliment beast.

For me smells smoked ginger (bitter ginger) with some freshness and spicy. I like to wear it on spring time it opens better or even in warm fall. Not for everybody and not blind buy definitely. I think LV smells very similar. Only trained nose would be able to see difference between. Story about it - One time I was working in Monaco and will I never forget - one guy was walking 5 meters away from me on casino square, I felt a same smell. Sillage was wild, (it was windy too). But damn guy was smelling good. In that moment ,I realized that it was good purchase from my part.

Jean lowe nouveau (now rebranded as jean lowe fraiche) is a very nice clone of nouveau monde by lv. This is a more slightly fresher, more powdery take on the original, which is more sparkly and sweet. Though I think jean lowe ombre/noir is the superior fragrance in the jean lowe lineup, this fragrance is still alright in its own right imo. 5.2/10 imo

I ordered it and I didn't like the smell because I don't like leather with oud. If you like leather with oud, this is an excellent choice for you... I don't recommend buying before trying it. Some say it's similar to Nomad perfume. Scent description: Leather, smoky oud

Nose Note #671 Oh my, this is not good... I've tried it a couple of times and found it extremely challenging. I have the Jean Lowe Fraiche version. It's more like a "smell" than a perfume. Smells very industrial like overworked machine oil. Definitely a very heavy leather here. The leather note is unique and not for the fainthearted. The opening is the worst part and feels just out of this world. As it develops it becomes more like a very niche perfume. I don't know how to describe it. It acquires this deep herbaceous undertone, like earthy roots of some vegetable. And at the same time I'm getting a slightly sweet melon note. Very challenging, one of the most challenging fragrances I've come across. If you are looking for an experience then you've found it. I can't imagine wearing this or smelling it on someone. It's better in the scent trail, but I just can't stomach it. I can see how you can acquire taste for it, but I'm afraid it's impossible for me. 5/10, what a thing

A mi nariz un pontente ejemplar con mucho Oud ambarado y con incienso y flores de fondo. No es para todo mundo. Dura muchas horas, tal vez días, desafortunadamente no lo toleraba en mí, tal vez si alguien pasa con él si es agradable, tomar en cuenta que son ingredientes muy muy fuertes para narices sensibles, aunque si lo sabes llevar y vestir es una joya.

This is not the alternative you're looking for. It's overdosed in smoke, and I mean, overdosed. Through the opening and dry down it smells of smoke. Dull and cloying rose and smoke. Gross. The OG is a journey from sparkling/sweaty rose and saffron, supported by leather and then into a caramel/cacao dry down.

Plastic and Pif Paf mixed together. Doesn’t resembles Nouveau Monde by LV. Unlike Noir by Alhambra, this smells terrible. Stay away.

Smells like car tire, but somehow even worse. Accidentally bought this when I wated to buy immortel. Absolutely awful stench

When you try to purchase this fragrance online - Ebay, Amazon, wherever, they send you Fraiche instead. Fraiche is NOT a dupe of Nouveau Monde nor is it a replacement for Jean Lowe Nouveau. People need to stop telling people that they are the same. Fraiche is a bright floral fragrance. If you can find the Nouveau version that has been supposedly discontinued do to copyright infringement, you are lucky. Fraiche notes directly from Jomashop: Top Notes: Lemon, Grapefruit, Pink pepper, Bergamot, Coriander, Mint, Aldehydes Heart Notes: Melon, Jasmine, Ginger, Nutmeg Base Notes: Labdanum, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Amber, Incense, Amberwood Notice that the ONLY notes in common between Fraiche and Nouveau are patchouli and incense. Totally agree with the reviewer below me that Fraiche is a challenging wear.

I have the Jean Lowe Fraiche version. Goodyear Tire & Rubber also manufactures Leather Footware dating back to1905. This smells like what I imagine a Goodyear Tire, Rubber & Leather manufacturing factory smelled like in 1910 or 1920. It's mashup that is somewhere between horrible and god awful. So if you want to go back in time 100+ years and capture the smell of rubber & leather being manufactured into tires and shoes - this is the bottle for you! If you want to smell appealing and attractive to people, stay away from this bottle.

Pretty unique scent. Really like it. My GF loves it aswell. Longevity and sillage is mid on my skin
